And really who can blame him?
He sometimes must feel that he carries the weight of all of those black leaders who came before him, and that he needs to be the best President possible for all of those who will follow.
I think this just about sums it up.
History is going to be very kind to President Obama. Very kind indeed.this is a hell of a photo pic.twitter.com/w4MHW1f4XB— Simon Maloy (@SimonMaloy) September 25, 2016
He has been an amazing President for all of our citizens, regardless of their race. I am a white woman and I believe Obama will go down as one of the greatest Presidents our country has seen.
ReplyDeleteAgree 100%.
DeleteWhat a sweet photo! It made me cry.
ReplyDeleteI so want to be able to visit the new museum - it's now on my bucket list! What an outstanding tribute to and for our fellow Americans!
I, too, think President Obama will go down in history as one of our best presidents - and for so many, many reasons.
I often think what a great treat it would be if we were able to invite him to our homes for a cup of coffee. I'd so love to meet, hug and talk with him. I could not be happier that I voted for him both times.
Also, think the world of First Lady Michelle, daughters and admire their inclusion of Michelle's mother in the White House. Special, loving and kind people - no doubt about it!
Not one scandal from them. NONE. Is that why people hate them so? Encouraging reaching out to others, healthy living. The (gasp) Black family showed them all up while those beneath tried to take them down from DAY ONE.
DeleteBringing in Michelle's mother, Marion, to keep Malia and Sasha grounded as they went about their duities. I remember the Super Bowl interview last winter where they said that in their suite there were two rooms. The serious where men gather and the champagne room "where my mom is now" with an added giggle. Why not? Charming.
I am sure going to miss them.
The will be sorely missed when they leave the White House, but having two Presidents Clinton living there will be pretty neat too!
DeleteIt will be fun watching what the Obama family does after they've rested in Hawaii and then begin to move on with their lives. They truly are such lovely, lovely people!
There's a long wait list.
DeleteApply for tickets now and take your vitamins.

Thank you so much for posting that photo...may I suggest you repeat it one day this week for IMers who are out and about enjoying the weather?
ReplyDeleteIf Sarah Palin has any goals to become president of the United States of America then Sarah should have been at the opening ceremony of the Black History Museum with her granddaughter Kayla Grace and her other two bastard grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteHoity Toity Sarah Palin will never run for president. EVER. She herself said, "you don't need a title to bring this country back," after her disastrous veep bid because people didn't see that she was sent from heaven above to "rescue" us. Pardon me while I cough up a little phlegm on that one.
DeleteSo she joined the underbelly worst of the worst just as Donald did when President Obama "dared" to diss him at the WHCD.
These people are psychos.
Vote your conscience!
I don't really think that family is into museums or theatre or any of the cultural offerings here in Alaska. They are self proclaimed redneck-gear heads that find cultural endeavors to be "elitist", mainly because they aren't comfortable around the educated and accomplished people that cultural offerings tend to draw.
DeleteThere's also that "religion" thing that prevents them from having any interest in how science and nature actually work since they all believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old and their "god" made it, just for them.
Not only are they not intelligent enough to grasp the "big picture" their "religion" has given them an explanation for everything and for the stupid, that seems to be enough. They are so dumb I think they actually believe that "god" is putting all those bastard babies in their bellies too.
Donald Trump campaign associate investigated for Russian ties

A year before, like many addicts, I had sensed a personal crash coming. For a decade and a half, I’d been a web obsessive, publishing blog posts multiple times a day, seven days a week, and ultimately corralling a team that curated the web every 20 minutes during peak hours. Each morning began with a full immersion in the stream of internet consciousness and news, jumping from site to site, tweet to tweet, breaking news story to hottest take, scanning countless images and videos, catching up with multiple memes. Throughout the day, I’d cough up an insight or an argument or a joke about what had just occurred or what was happening right now. And at times, as events took over, I’d spend weeks manically grabbing every tiny scrap of a developing story in order to fuse them into a narrative in real time. I was in an unending dialogue with readers who were caviling, praising, booing, correcting. My brain had never been so occupied so insistently by so many different subjects and in so public a way for so long.

Nice try, but I already read this,
DeleteBesides I am substantially stronger than Andrew Sullivan and far more dedicated in my endeavors.
There will be a time to stop, but that time is not now.
What do you mean by 'nice try'? I'm glad you read it, as it was an interesting article, but you are awfully defensive when no one was attacking you, so what is that about. You're letting the trolls get to you Gryphen, and I'm not one of them, I simply found it interesting from a blogger's point of view...so you can really just chill.
DeleteI would be devastated if you stopped blogging as I love your blog, so again, why your reaction? Is someone asking you to stop blogging? Please don't.
But I am glad to hear you read the article, it's a real peek into how things CAN go for some people. And Andrew covers alot of ground that is thought provoking about technology, religion, addiction, choices and life in general. So, I ask again, why so defensive?
I get asked, threatened, or dared to stop blogging at least five to six times a day.
DeleteSorry if I came off defensive but offering it up without explanation left your motives open to interpretation.
1:21 PM - the difference?
DeleteGryph has never given up.
Andrew Sullivan did.
>>I get asked, threatened, or dared to stop blogging at least five to six times a day.
DeleteThat can't be fun. It would seem you must be being very effective if people want you to stop. Effective at calling out the grifters, the liars, the mentally ill, the despicables.
I am so happy that you have chosen, as one of the things you do in your life, to spend time informing us, making us laugh, educating us, provoking us to think, to feel, to consider. You bring so much value to the community.
The digital world can swallow one up if one gets too deeply involved. Andrew was bringing attention to numerous issues that he personally experienced as a blogger. Just because you are also a blogger, doesn't require a comparison, there are MILLIONS of bloggers in the world. But as a blogger, I also believed you might find value in reading the article.
There is no blogger like you. And we are so fortunate to have you.

I watched the opening ceremony on TV and when all the church bells started ringing, I felt very emotional. I would love to go back to Washington some day to visit this museum - it looks like it would be a very moving experience. Barack Obama will go down in history as one of the finest presidents to have ever served his country.

ReplyDeleteYour last line says it all. What a time to watch history unfold.
ReplyDeleteThe Black History Museum is part of the Smithsonian which is 70% funded by the Federal Government. There is a "must pass" spending bill on the table.
ReplyDeleteSorry to say I think the odds are pretty high that the repukes will pull their usual shenanigans to reduce Smithsonian funding.
