Presidential pardon or not Sheriff Arpaio's record will not be scrubbed clean.

Courtesy of Politico:

A federal judge has ruled that President Donald Trump's pardon of former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio ends his prosecution for criminal contempt of court, but does not wipe out the guilty verdict she returned or any other rulings in the case.

In her order Thursday, Phoenix-based U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton rejected arguments from Arpaio's lawyers and Justice Department prosecutors that the longtime Maricopa County sheriff was entitled to have all rulings in the case vacated, including the guilty verdict the judge delivered in July after a five-day trial.

“The power to pardon is an executive prerogative of mercy, not of judicial recordkeeping," Bolton wrote, quoting an appeals court ruling. "To vacate all rulings in this case would run afoul of this important distinction. The Court found Defendant guilty of criminal contempt. The President issued the pardon. Defendant accepted. The pardon undoubtedly spared Defendant from any punishment that might otherwise have been imposed. It did not, however, 'revise the historical facts' of this case."

Well good for his judge!

Arpaio is a racist POS and just because he has a fellow racist POS buddy in a high place does NOT mean he gets to pretend that he is not a criminal.

Who said President Trump isn't a generous man?

    $$$$$$$$$$

    Washington Post:
Trump pledges at least $430,000 to cover aides’ legal costs related to Russia probes

A White House official said the president would use personal funds to help with the mounting legal expenses related to the ongoing investigations. A former director of government ethics immediately pointed to the potential conflicts of interest.

I thought a pardon was also an admittance of guilt. Too bad old Joe didn't read the fine print. You can't really be pardoned for anything if you're innocent, you jerk.

  11. FYI: Arpaio's goal to wipe out his guilty verdict was motivated by the fact the guilty verdict put him at risk of being sued by his victims. The judge protected Arpaio's victims from being his victims yet again.

Chris Whipple — author of The Gatekeepers, a study of White House chiefs of staff — said on Saturday that by entering the political fray and lying about Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL), John Kelly became another person sullied by their association with President Donald Trump.

Harvard University’s Leah Wright Rigueur said that Kelly’s attack on Rep. Wilson represents another sign of “a White House in chaos.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we continue to see more scandals, more explosions, more implosions in the coming weeks because it’s ‘The Trump Show’ and what Trump says goes,” said Rigueur.

“It was a major blunder by Kelly and it makes me wonder if maybe this job is getting to Kelly,” said Whipple.

“Everyone who enters the orbit of this Death Star known as Donald Trump is sucked in and damaged and tarnished by it,” he said. “That’s the sad reality.”

Trump admin wants to slash birth control access and push ineffective ‘rhythm method’ for women: memo

In a leaked memo obtained by Crooked, White House officials wrote that they intend to slash federal funding to the U.S. Agency for International Development's family planning budget and require "equal funding" for fertility awareness. The memo further specifies that fertility planning should be the sole birth control method made available to young girls.

Newsweek has reached out to the White House for comment on the memo and hasn't heard back. Newsweek couldn't independently verify the veracity of the memo.

Kelly’s attacks on Florida Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson — over how Trump handled the combat death of a U.S. soldier — were a mix of fabrications, militarism, and authoritarianism. They show contempt for democratic principles. Kelly also spoke in language reeking of a military coup, indicating that he believes his job is to control “sorry” civilians, the 99 percent of Americans who are not active-duty soldiers.

And Kelly’s broadsides recall Trump’s instinct to attack racial minorities whenever he lands into trouble of his own making.

Given how Trump spews falsehoods and generates controversy to divert attention from his train-wreck presidency, it’s worth remembering how this controversy began.

On Oct. 4, four U.S. soldiers were killed in an ambush in Niger. The Special Forces soldiers may have been set up by local leaders they were meeting with, and the mission reportedly suffered from poor intelligence, and a lack of preparation and contingency planning. It recalls Trump’s approval of a poorly planned raid on Yemen that resulted in the deaths of up to 30 civilians and one U.S. soldier.

Trump tries to distract from Russian ad controversy in tweet calling CBS, NBC, CNN and ABC ‘Fake News’

Trump renewed his attacks on the mainstream media and Hillary Clinton on Twitter Saturday. The president seemingly was responding to news reports about Russian efforts to use social media in an apparent effort to influence the 2016 presidential election.

"Keep hearing about 'tiny' amount of money spent on Facebook ads. What about the billions of dollars of Fake News on CNN, ABC, NBC & CBS?" Trump tweeted. An hour and 15 minutes later, he tweeted: "Crooked Hillary Clinton spent hundreds of millions of dollars more on Presidential Election than I did. Facebook was on her side, not mine!"

Mother Jones journalist David Corn scorched President Donald Trump on Saturday, saying that Trump has dragged U.S. presidential politics into the gutter.

“Donald Trump has done this,” said Corn. “But he’s done it with help. This week he had help, regrettably, from John Kelly and Sarah Huckabee Sanders.”

“From the get-go, Donald Trump has shown that he doesn’t care about bringing this country together,” he continued. “It’s a tragic thing that 63 million Americans fell for this, and he still has a third of the country behind him, saying, ‘Go get em!’ as he continues to show that yes, you can be president and have absolutely not an ounce of class.”

The most important people are the grieving family members and people “should focus on them,” Corn said, “But Donald Trump and now unfortunately John Kelly can’t even reach that point.”

Donald Trump has such a consistent habit of telegraphing that he knows a major bombshell scandal is about to hit the newswires, you can almost plan your week around it. Major news outlets ask Trump’s White House for comment just before publishing their biggest breakthrough stories about him, and he then feels clinically compelled to try to preemptively refute the story or create a bizarre bombastic distraction from it. On Saturday afternoon, Trump tipped off that he knows the mother of all bombshells is coming.

...So why is Donald Trump suddenly bringing up his Pee Pee Tape scandal, and his Facebook Russian ad scandal, just so he can shoot them both down? No one in the media was talking about either scandal on Saturday, until he brought them both up. There are only two possibilities here. Either a media bombshell is about to drop which connects those two scandals together – or something even bigger is about to land (perhaps about Niger), and Trump is resorting to using these existing scandals to try to distract from it. Either way, buckle up.

Of all the things Donald Trump is worried about surfacing in his Trump-Russia scandal, he’s not the most worried about his treasonous election-rigging collusion or even his lifetime of financial crimes. Instead it’s the mythical “Pee Pee Tape” which allegedly shows him engaging with Russian prostitutes. Now more than ever, Trump has become paranoid about the tape in question. We know this because he’s going off the deep end while specifically denying its existence.

On Saturday afternoon, out of nowhere, Trump tweeted “Officials behind the now discredited ‘Dossier’ plead the Fifth. Justice Department and/or FBI should immediately release who paid for it.” It’s important to point out that not one word of Trump’s tweet is true. The dossier in question has not been discredited in any way, shape, or form – and much of it has now been independently confirmed. The officials in question have not pleaded the fifth. Instead they’ve fully cooperated with the investigation, and have only rebuffed a fake subpoena from Trump’s own corrupt puppet Devin Nunes.

It’s nothing new for Trump to lie through his teeth in a tweet. However, what does stand out here is that this tweet came out of nowhere. There were no major news reports about the dossier or the Pee Pee Tape yesterday or today – so why is Trump suddenly bringing it up just to try to discredit it?
