Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Teen athlete refuses to compete due to receiving 666 as her bib number.
This kind of thing just makes me sick to my stomach.
The idea that this young woman would throw away her dreams simply due to superstitious nonsense is ridiculous.
Not only that the number 666 is not even the real number of the beast.
Remind me someday to relate the story of the born again Christian girl in my self defense class who quit because I talked about focusing Chi. That was a real eye opener.

That awkward moment when your Obama hatred is undermined by your lack of education.
And here I was blissfully unaware that insects even HAD their own Christ.
Weird coincidence that his name is "Obama," don't you think?

Possible military action in Syria has many churches preaching about the Rapture. Well that's helpful.
Courtesy of USA Today:
The deadly violence percolating half a world away in Syria and the warnings of a possible U.S. attack have some people not only looking ahead to what might happen in the coming days — but also looking backward into ancient, apocalyptic prophecies in the pages of the Old Testament.
In recent weeks, some dire prophecies have turned up on websites, in book stores, as the subject of Bible studies and in sermons by some Christians and others who see a link between the old passages and modern-day events in Egypt, Libya and Syria.
"Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city, and will become a fallen ruin," reads Isaiah 17, a passage some Christians say they believe details a horrific event that leaves the city uninhabitable and leads to worldwide tribulation and the second coming of Christ.
Damascus is the Syrian capital and one of the world's oldest cities.
Another passage in Isaiah 19 deals with civil war in Egypt and the rise of a "fierce king."
Talk of those prophecies has intensified as President Barack Obama considers a U.S. military strike on Syria in response to what Washington says is evidence that the Syrian leadership used chemical weapons against its own people. In turn, Syria vows to retaliate against neighboring Israel if the U.S. strikes.
Christian bookstores such as Family Christian Ministries in West Melbourne report that book sales of prophecy-themed works by charismatic minister Perry Stone, Pastor John Hagee and novelists such as Joel Rosenberg have increased in recent weeks since tension in Syria and Egypt escalated.
"We sold a lot of Perry Stone books, and he's really good with the end times. A lot of our customers say their churches are doing something on prophecy," said Kaylee Snodgrass, assistant manager at Family Christian Ministries.
Of course this kind of thing ALWAYS takes place when a new war breaks out in the Middle East, however I imagine that it might become even MORE prevalent this time since 13 percent of Americans already believe that the President is the anti-Christ.
And at least one program has used a President Obama lookalike to portray Satan.
Yeah, somehow I think those Christian bookstores better stock up on that "Left Behind" series.

Tennessee man quits job after receiving W-2 stamped with the "number of the beast." Because you know, religion.
Courtesy of The Tennessean:
A Clarksville man said that he quit his job last week in order to save his soul.
Walter Slonopas, 52, resigned as a maintenance worker at Contech Casting LLC in Clarksville after his W-2 tax form was stamped with the number 666.
The Bible calls 666 the “number of the beast,” and it’s often used as a symbol of the devil. Slonopas said that after getting the W-2, he could either go to work or go to hell.
“If you accept that number, you sell your soul to the devil,” he said.
Bob LaCourciere, vice president of sales and marketing for the Revstone Corp., which owns Contech Casting, said that Slonopas’ W-2 was labeled with 666 by the company that handles Contech’s payroll. It refers to the order in which the forms were mailed out, he said.
This isn’t the first time that the Satanic number has caused Slonopas trouble at work.
During his first day on the job in April 2011, Slonopas was supposed to be assigned the number 668 to use when he clocked in. But the human resources department gave him the wrong number — 666 — instead.
Slonopas, who said he became a born-again Christian about 10 years ago, complained and was given a new number.
In July 2011, the company changed time clock systems, and once again Slonopas got 666. This time he quit. The company apologized and he returned to work a few days later.
This latest incident with the W-2 baffled company spokesman LaCourciere. He could not believe it had happened again.
“I am completely at a loss for words,” he said.
"Either go to work, or go to hell." Choices, choices, choices.
Well I think that Mr. Slonopas needs to simply accept the fact that this CANNOT be a mere coincidence. One time perhaps, but twice? I think not!
Is the following not written in the great book of Revelations13:16-18? Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Surely this man who doth hide his true visage behind the slovenly, pinkish camouflage of a common maintenance worker has been revealed unto the masses as the spawn of Satan, the progeny of Mephistopheles, the Anti-Christ made flesh.
Burn him! Burn him with fire!
Or....perhaps instead people can simply pity him for his ignorance and make sure to keep him away from sharp objects and dangerous substances.
Religion, keeping people terrified of simple coincidences for over 2000 years.

Fox News has decided to explain what is happening in Wisconsin by hinting that Barack Obama is the Anti-Christ. No, I am NOT kidding!
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
You know I got slammed awhile back by saying that perhaps not EVERYBODY should enjoy the freedoms provided by the First Amendment. Yes I know that taking the right to scare elderly people, and simpletons away from Fox News might result in someday losing the ability to tell real factual information on the Rachel Maddow show. I get that.
But dammit, these assholes are telling their audience of elderly people, whose median age is 65, and who are probably thinking about religion and the afterlife far more than your average television viewer, that Barack Obama is about to usher in the Apocalypse.
That is unconscionable and, in my opinion, there should be a serious consequence for that kind of reckless and abusive behavior. Am I wrong?
And even though I try not to advocate any violence, if I were in a room alone with Glenn Beck I....I..would...well I guess I would not do anything because it is against my personal guidelines to physically injure a soft, doughy, little pantie-waist like him. But if he were an actual man, I am afraid I might have to serve a little jail time and possible take an anger management class.
You know, again.
Though I have little doubt that it would be worth it.
