You too often cowardly refuse to defend the mainstream media's target, choosing instead to slyly witness the conservative's record and reputation get pummeled. C'mon, GOP leaders. YOU MUST DO BETTER. We've got our hands full with things like the destructive, burgeoning $18 trillion U.S. debt receiving nary a yawn from old and new Republican machine operators. And, so tragically, with things like breathlessly gleeful media celebrations of the democrats' knighted nominee's "performance" at Benghazi hearings, as four grieving American families try to put one foot in front of the other in their never ending nightmare full of loss.

Apparently after eleven hours of grueling testimony Hillary is not allowed to smile or demonstrate relief that it is over.

Now I usually pride myself on my ability to cut through the Palin word salad and find a way to make at least SOME sense out of it, but I confess that the block of lunacy up above is too crazy even for me.

I actually think we might be witnessing yet another mental breakdown.

I'm beyond crying you a river... beyond EVER claiming "victim status"... but for y'alls edification, I sure don't remember all this GOP outrage and the establishment's conscience leading to rescue attempts at THAT time. After having to sneak in my own personal phone calls to conservative media during the '08 campaign (as Sean Hannity and Alaska's own KWHL can attest) because the GOP machine chose instead to line up those liberal man-eater, out-of-context interviews (suspiciously, rarely were they aired live - always edited to fit the liberal reporters' narrative) well, it was obvious that some highly paid campaign consultants (STILL suckering candidates in to hire them today!) were as smart as a box of rocks. The House committee investigating the Benghazi attacks is now the longest congressional investigation in history, committee Democrats announced today. 

As of Monday, the House Select Committee on Benghazi, has been active for 72 weeks -- surpassing the record previously held by the Watergate Committee in the 1970's. 

Democrats have accused the committee of focusing on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton rather than the 2012 Benghazi attacks. 

“The Benghazi Select Committee has now become one of the longest and least active congressional investigations in history,” Ranking Member Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, wrote in a statement. “The Committee has squandered the last 16 months and more than 4.5 million taxpayer dollars dredging up political attacks to impact the 2016 presidential election -- a severe misuse of taxpayer funds and Congressional power."

Of course the Republicans answer to those charges is "Yeah, but Hillary's private email server" which actually proves nothing except the fact that she did not trust the state department email server. Which as  we know got hacked.

Personally I have no idea how the House Republicans can possibly justify the time and expense of what is clearly simply a witch hunt to find something to use politically against the likely Democratic candidate in the 2016 presidential election?

New poll shows Hillary Clinton holds double digit leads over both Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush.

Hillary Rodham Clinton holds double-digit leads over potential Republican challengers Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney as the likely Democratic presidential candidate moves closer to entering the 2016 race, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds. 

Although Clinton, Bush and Romney are all longtime politicians and members of political dynasties, registered voters are less likely to count that familiarity against Clinton. That is a good sign for Clinton, a failed 2008 presidential candidate and the focus of Republican criticism that her time has come and gone. 

Clinton’s potential to make history as the first female U.S. president makes little difference to most voters and is a net positive for others.

And it is not like there is any advertising that is going to reveal anything new about these three either. So there is a good chance that these poll numbers are all but written in stone.

Well GOP, who else ya got?

Jeb Bush is just George W. Bush as seen from a different angle.

Think Progress has gathered together a number of facts about Jebbie that paint his as essentially the keeper of the George W. legacy, and an uber conservative to the core.

Here are a few:  

He doesn’t recognize exceptions to abortion restrictions. When a severely retarded woman was raped and impregnated while in the care of the state, Bush asked a court to appoint a guardian for the fetus in an effort to block her abortion. 

He opposes the expansion of Medicaid in Florida. When current Gov. Rick Scott (R) accepted federal money designated under the Affordable Care Act to expand Medicaid coverage to more low-income residents, Bush said he had doubts about the program because funding will be phased down after three years. 

He has worked to suppress voting rights. Florida currently has one of the worst restrictions blocking many convicted felons from voting, even after they are released from prison. In 2000, Bush’s administration also misidentified 12,000 eligible voters, more than 40 percent of which were African American, as convicted voters and purged them from the voting rolls. 

He has passed NRA-supported “Stand Your Ground” legislation. In 2005, Bush signed into law the bill which gave Floridians the right to use deadly force when they are in danger in public places, despite opposition from police chiefs in the state’s high crime Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The law famously came into play when George Zimmerman shot and killed unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin. 

In 1999, he abolished affirmative-action in higher education and state contracting through a unilateral executive order, triggering widespread protests across the state. His other major education reform, a statewide voucher program that directed taxpayer funds to private schools, was declared in violation of the Florida Constitution. 

 On national security, Jeb’s doctrine adheres closely to that of his brother George and he believes the U.S. should not back away from engaging allies and enemies around the world. 

When it comes to climate change, Jeb Bush claims the “not a scientist” defense. He started using that now-ubiquitous line back in 2009, when he also declared that the climate “may not be warming.”

The "New Coke" version of Bush is going to try very hard to reinvent himself as a moderate, and  is going to make distance from both his brother and father when it seems politically necessary to do so.

However Jeb has a record, and it is not one that can be buried under 25,000 e-mails hand picked to put a shine on his reputation.

What I find truly humorous about the idea of Jeb becoming the 2016 GOP candidate is that conservatives have put a lot of stock in an already visible attempt to smear Hillary using Bill Clinton's past sexual peccadilloes against her.

However I am fairly certain that the voters are going to be far less concerned with the husband of one candidate's wandering eye than the brother of the other candidate's past attempts to single-handedly destroy this country.

Senator Elizabeth Warren receives new job, that illustrates her importance to the future of the Democratic party.

Senate Democrats have enlisted progressive firebrand Elizabeth Warren to be a member of their leadership team, giving a major platform to a liberal icon just a week after Democrats took a beating at the polls and lost control of the Senate. 

Harry Reid, the incoming Senate minority leader, had engaged in private talks with the Massachusetts freshman to create a special leadership post for the former Harvard professor, and the leadership elections Thursday solidified the new Democratic team.

The title will be strategic policy adviser to the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee — a specially created position that puts Warren into a much more prominent position in the Senate hierarchy. 

In the new position, Warren is expected to serve as a go-between to liberal groups to ensure their voice is part of the leadership’s private deliberations. She would be part of the messaging and policy team. 

Some see this appointment by Reid is a move away from bipartisanship,  but let's face it the Republicans are not really ever going to work with the Democrats anyhow. Unless of course the Democrats agree to acquiesce to every one of their demands.

However Warren's take no shit personality scares the bejeezus out of the Republicans, and that endears her to the liberal base which is only growing bigger everyday.

I think this might just be Harry Reid's way of sticking his thumb in the eye of the conservatives.

But do you know what would send them right over the edge?

Having Warren's name appear on the ballot alongside Hillary's in 2016.

Oh, that would be glorious.

RNC decides the best way to go after Hillary Clinton is to unleash the squirrel. That's right, the squirrel.

The Republican National Committee is pushing back against all the 2016 buzz Hillary Clinton is getting, courtesy of her book tour with their own campaign. It involves a giant squirrel costume. The squirrel was first spotted — like its friend the fox — near the National Mall, wandering around outside a Hillary Clinton event at George Washington University. Okay so to be clear, the RNC is suggesting that voting for Hillary is a nutty thing to do.

And to drive home the point as to which party is the most mentally stable, they hire a guy to dress up as a giant squirrel and hand out bumper stickers?

You know maybe just to save time the Republicans could just concede the 2016 presidential election now.

Obama administration taps former President Clinton to help promote Obamacare.

Bill Clinton agreed to lend his weight to President Barack Obama’s effort at educating people about the U.S. health-care overhaul, a helping hand needed to combat confusion as key parts of the law begin Oct. 1. 

Clinton, a two-term U.S. president who left office in 2001, will promote the Affordable Care Act in a Sept. 4 speech from his museum in Little Rock, Arkansas, according to a statement today from his philanthropic foundation. A White House aide, Dan Pfeiffer, welcomed Clinton’s help and quipped on Twitter that the former president is “the Secretary of Explaining Stuff.” 

“He generally is very effective at what people call retail politics; talking about things as they directly affect people’s lives,” Robert Blendon, a professor at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, said in a telephone interview.

I think this is a BRILLIANT move by President Obama!

Clinton can outsmart and outmaneuver most of those knuckle-draggers over on the Right Wing with half of his brain tied behind his back.

What's more this brings the Clinton's back into the health care debate and helps to lubricate the transition from the Obama administration to the Hillary administration.

I can hardly wait to see Bill start to dismantle the Republican argument for defunding the Affordable Care Act or repealing it altogether. He is going to make them look like nothign more than school yard bullies, and take their lunch money while he's at it.

Fox TV Studios May Be Producing NBC’s Hillary Clinton Miniseries. Right Wing outrage in 3..2..never.

Remember how the Republican National Committee threatened NBC and CNN to call off their planned Hillary Clinton projects lest they not get any of the Republican primary debates in 2016? Well, if the RNC is serious about taking a stand, the party may end up limiting its debates to other networks, but mainly Fox News. There’s just one teensy, tiny, little problem: 

Fox Television Studios may be producing NBC’s Hillary miniseries. 

The New York Times broke the news late Friday, which will almost assuredly not be followed by threats to boycott debates on Fox. 

Leslie Oren, a spokesman for FTVS, as the studio is known, confirmed that NBC is in “the early stages” of discussions to bring the Fox unit in as the production company on the as yet unnamed mini-series, which will star Diane Lane as Mrs. Clinton. 

“There is no deal yet,” Ms. Oren said. But should a deal be completed, FTVS would become the distributor of the film internationally. FTVS is the production arm of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment group. 

Naturally, the argument here would be, “Fox News and Fox Entertainment are two completely different things! Don’t judge one for what the other is doing!”

Oh yeah, and that worked so well for NBC when THEY tried it. 

So it should be VERY entertaining to hear how "Rinse once and Prebus" responds to this little nugget of information. Don't you agree?

Anthony Weiner apparently has not heard enough jokes about his wiener. Now officially running for mayor of New York City.

“I made some big mistakes and I know I let a lot of people down. But I've also learned some tough lessons,” the Democrat said in a video posted on his website late on Tuesday. 

"I'm running for mayor because I've been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it my entire life," he added. “I hope I get a second chance to work for you." 

The video, which features his son and wife Huma Abedin, an aide to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, focused on his middle-class roots in Brooklyn. 

With this bold attempt at a comeback ahead of the primary in September, Weiner is hoping to erase the image of a tweeted crotch shot that precipitated his resignation.

Yeah that's NOT going to happen. In fact I think we can all count on seeing pictures of his Johnson showing up all over the place for the next several months. 

For that reason alone I wish he wouldn't do this.

And his poor wife! This cannot be what SHE really wants, can it?

Especially considering the fact that when Hillary runs in 2016 she will most likely be associated with her campaign in some way. The last thing she needs is to be weighed down with her husband's baggage on the campaign trial.

Look I was as big fan as anybody of Anthony Weiner, but this just feels like train wreck just waiting to happen. If I'm wrong I will perform a mea culpa right here on this blog, but I just don't think I'm wrong here.
