Ohio "family values" lawmaker resigns after engaging in "inappropriate conduct" with another man.

Rep. Wes Goodman
Courtesy of Yahoo News:

An Ohio lawmaker known for his devotion to “family values” has stepped down after allegedly engaging in “inappropriate conduct with another man” in his office.

State Rep. Wes Goodman (R-Cardington) resigned Tuesday after a witness reported the incident to Ohio House chief of staff Mike Dittoe, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Specifics of the alleged incident are unclear.

House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) said he met with Goodman on Tuesday, and that the lawmaker “acknowledged and confirmed the allegations.”

“I was alerted to details yesterday afternoon regarding his involvement in inappropriate behavior related to his state office,” Rosenberger said Wednesday. “It became clear that his resignation was the most appropriate course of action for him, his family, the constituents of the 87th House District and this institution.”

Nothing wrong with being gay, nor necessarily anything wrong with a little hanky panky at the office  (I've certainly done my share.), however when you run as a "family values" candidate you simply cannot let your man parts touch another man's parts.

Hell if he had only molested underage girls or raped grown women apparently the fundamentalists would have given this guy a pass.

But simply put the "gay stuff" just freaks them out.

New York introduces new legislation to ban conversion therapy, names it after Mike Pence. Seems appropriate.

Courtesy of the Daily Dot:

Erie County in Western New York will start debating a new piece of legislation this December that aims to locally ban the harmful practices of "conversion therapy," which falsely claims to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity with a series of mostly discredited treatments, including psychological abuse and psychotropic medication.

The law's name also has a message. It's called PENCE: Prevention of Emotional Neglect and Childhood Endangerment.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence is well-known for his anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and advocacy for conversion therapy. As governor of Indiana, he has supported government funding to institutions "which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior." He has also discouraged government support of the Ryan White Care Act, a federally funded program for people living with HIV/AIDS, saying that supporting it would mean funding organizations that "celebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus."

Of course conversion "therapy" is where a gay person is told they are a dirty sinner who will burn in a pool of fire if they don't start pretending to like the opposite sex.

Undoubtedly the same therapy that this guy went through so you can see it works like a charm.

This BS is already outlawed in Vermont, California, New Jersey, Illinois and Oregon, as well as the District of Columbia, and the is opposed by the American Psychiatric Association, but apparently there are still quite a number of states that have not yet received the memo.

I think naming it after Trump's VP choice Mike Pence is a brilliant move since it fairly clear this guy can barely tolerate people having regular sex much less gay sex.

Flood of "biblical proportions" destroys home of president of anti-gay Christian group. Really the jokes just write themselves.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Tony Perkins, president of the anti-gay Christian group Family Research Council, revealed this week that his home and been destroyed in a flood “of near biblical proportions.”

During a Monday broadcast on Family Research Council radio, Perkins called in from Louisiana to explain that he and his family had escaped his flooded home in a canoe.

“This is a flood, I would have to say, of near biblical proportions,” the Christian lobbyist announced.

Perkins said that he and his family were new living off of “God’s provisions,” and had relocated to their RV, which had been spared.

Seriously? Noah gets an entire ark, and Perkins has to make due with a shitty little canoe?

Hardly seems fair.

You know the thing about this that is so irritating is that you KNOW if the Louisiana headquarters for LGBT rights was washed away in a flood that every half baked Christian televangelist in the country would be thrusting their Bibles into the air and declaring that this was proof positive that God wanted to stamp out homosexuality in the world.

But if the house belonging to one of the foremost anti-gay crusaders gets washed away in the flood, the response is "Well shit happens sometimes."

I swear if every religious leader in the country suddenly woke up with leprosy tomorrow they would call it a coincidence and turn the anti-gay rhetoric up to eleven.

Sarah Palin gushes over the new face of the far right French political party Front National.

Source

"I have a political crush."

That's how Palin's mash note in Breitbart to Marion Maréchal-Le Pen begins.

Palin (Okay well mostly her ghostwriter.) continues to get all girl crushy on this newest face of the French party whose founder, and her grandfather, once said that the Holocaust was "a point of detail of the history of the Second World War."

The Front National is decidedly pro-law and order and anti-immigration. And Marion Maréchal-Le Pen has been called the "French Donald Trump."

Palin offers this defense:

What she’s saying should not be controversial. It’s common sense. The western values enjoyed by every French citizen regardless of their religion are necessarily rooted in those 16 Christian centuries. Our understanding of human rights and human dignity comes from the Judeo-Christian worldview that shaped modern Europe. If you transplant to your shores a foreign population that’s hostile to the very things your country stands for, you won’t have a country for very long. This is the hard truth. You can’t maintain a peaceful liberal democracy with people who want to impose Sharia law on you.

But for some reason saying this out loud is considered “hate speech” or xenophobia in Europe. They can even press criminal charges against you for it!

Somewhere right now Donald Trump is imagining the xenophobic threesome to beat all xenophobic threesomes.

Palin even makes it easy for us to see the similarities between Maréchal-Le Pen and our own Right Wing nuts:

We see the same thing happening here in America. Call it the rise of the populists. Pundits are already seeing the similarities between Marion and Marine Le Pen, Donald Trump, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% . All are non-establishment candidates taking on corrupt, entrenched, and detached political elites who are more interested in preserving their own power than in defending their countries.

It’s time to wake up, America. Nowhere in Europe or America is safe from this Great War against the Death Cult. San Bernardino wasn’t a one-off phenomenon. ISIS is already here. According to a House Homeland Security report, over 250 people in the U.S. have attempted to join ISIS (that we know about), and 82 have been caught in ISIS plots. Meanwhile, the FBI has nearly 1,000 open cases involving ISIS that we know of.

Nope, no Islamophobic hyperbole there.

As the Guardian points out, there are plenty of reasons for Palin to admire Maréchal-Le Pen

Maréchal-Le Pen has stood out for adopting socially conservative stances that are more extreme than her aunt, Marine. She was a key figure in France’s anti-gay marriage demonstrations of 2013.

She has opposed the French state providing free abortions, saying some women should pay for them.

Oh yeah, anti-immigration, anti-gay, anti-abortion, you can almost hear Palin's panties getting damp.

Well I think it's too early to blame this on the "Palin curse" but it seems that Maréchal-Le Pen's popularity was not enough to carry the day in France:

The party was beaten into third place, despite leading in six of 13 regions in the first round of voting a week ago.

The centre-right Republicans finished ahead of President Francois Hollande's governing Socialist Party.

Of course the party's current leader Marine Le Pen, also Maréchal-Le Pen's aunt, blamed the loss on the fact that the other parties colluded to keep Front National out of power.

Somehow I doubt that this is the last we are going to hear from Maréchal-Le Pen, unless of course the Palin curse still has enough power to reach across the Atlantic Ocean.

Duck Dynasty homophobe to speak at the Republican Leadership Conference. Sounds about right.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

Phil Robertson, the controversial star of the hit TV show "Duck Dynasty" will address the upcoming Republican Leadership Conference on Thursday.

Robertson will talk to the annual confab in the evening of its opening day, the conference announced Tuesday. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) are among the people also scheduled to speak Thursday evening at the conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

That's right Republican party keep right on openly embracing the intolerant, misogynist, and xenophobic.

After all that IS your base.
