A Las Vegas woman has sued Cliven Bundy after she crashed into one of his cows on Interstate 15.
Danielle Beck was riding in a car that collided with the animal April 14, two days after federal authorities backed down from an armed confrontation with the scofflaw rancher and his supporters in a dispute over unpaid grazing fees, reported the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The cow was killed, and the 40-year-old Beck suffered broken bones and other injuries when her boyrfiend crashed into the livestock and drove over an embankment about 10 miles from Bundy’s ranch in Bunkerville.
“She’s lucky she lived,” said the woman’s attorney, Bob Apple. “I’ve been practicing since 1975, and I’ve never seen someone with so many broken ribs.”
The woman filed a $20,000 lawsuit against Bundy
The cow apparently escaped through a hole in the fence, however Bundy does not believe he is the one liable for the woman's injuries:
Bundy admitted the cow was his, but he said the state is responsible for maintaining the fence that keeps his livestock off the interstate.
“It’s a state problem, it’s not our problem,” Bundy said. “We really feel bad when it happens. We sure don’t want it to happen, but we’re not liable.”
So to be clear Bundy herded his cattle onto federal land where he has no grazing rights and has been warned repeatedly to stay away from, and now he is blaming the state government for not making sure that there was no way for these scofflaw cows to become a driving hazard.
The police had to be called after the accident, and they herded four cows off of the road.
Apparently Bundy did not even bother to show up after being notified of the accident.
But here, here's my favorite part:
Bundy said he was within his rights to make a claim against Beck for the loss of his livestock.
“The person whose car hit that cow is liable to me,” Bundy said.
That's right he is planing to sue the woman who maliciously murdered one of his cows while driving down a road that she naively seemed to believe would be bovine free.
Silly rabbit.

Well guess who got pulled over for speeding in Wasilla a week ago. Good guess.
![]() |
"Not my fault officer. I was driving under the influence of classic rock." |
Sarah Palin may be conservative, but her driving is unabashedly radical ... giving TMZ an epic rationalization for speeding in her pick up truck in Alaska.
The former guv was stopped in her hometown of Wasilla last Wednesday for going 63 in a 45 MPH zone in her Toyota Tundra. The cop wrote her up and she was on her way.
Palin cops to the crime, telling us, "I wasn't speeding, I was qualifying." She didn't accept full blame, saying Sammy Hagar's, "I Can't Drive 55" on the oldies station contributed to her lead foot.
We're told Palin will pay the $154 ticket STAT.
Can you believe that a middle aged woman would blame her careless driving on a song playing on her radio?
Well you know Sarah "I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't" Palin, she doesn't ever follow the rules, even in the city where she was once in charge of enforcing them.
And if other people are put in danger by her carelessness and lack of respect for the law, well who cares about those people any way? After all they certainly don't care about her anymore.
P.S. When I wrote this post last night, I figured it was just a throwaway post documenting something not very newsworthy about Sarah Palin. (Meaning she wasn't arrested for drunk driving or anything.)
However this morning revealed that this story has been picked up by numerous blogs and news sites who do seem to think it is newsworthy.
The reason for this, it seems to me, is not so much that she was speeding, but her imperious attitude to being caught ("I wasn't speeding, I was qualifying."), and the fact that she could not simply apologize for breaking the law and pay the ticket she had to blame it on somebody else. In this case poor Sammy Hagar for a song he wrote in 1984.
Because in Sarah Palin's world nothing is her fault, and she despises anybody treating her as if she is not more important than everybody else. And THAT makes even almost insignificant incidents like this seem newsworthy.

The Next Cliven Bundy standoff will be in Utah. Lucky Utah.
Courtesy of Mother Jones:
It looks like a new front has opened up in Cliven Bundy's war against the US government.
This Saturday, angry residents of San Juan County, Utah, plan to illegally ride their ATVs through Utah's Recapture Canyon—an 11 mile-long stretch of federal land that is home to Native American archeological sites—because they don't think that the federal Bureau of Land Management should have designated that land off-limits to motor vehicles. The protest was meant to be a local affair. But on Thursday, Bundy, the rancher who wouldn't pay the feds grazing fees and sparked a gun-drenched showdown in Nevada, called on his supporters to join the anti-government off-roading event, E&E Publishing's Phil Taylor reported. Bundy, whose crusade against the federal government became tainted by his racist comments, is looking to spread the cause from cattle to cross-country cruising.
"We don't expect any violence," San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldredge told the Denver Post last week. Others aren't so sure, especially since the out-of-staters in attendance could help rile things up—which is what happened during the Bundy stand-off. "This may blow up to be significantly more than they thought," Bill Boyle, a resident of San Juan and publisher of the San Juan Record newspaper told the Post. "I think there are those who would like everyone with an AK-47 to be here."
San Juan County residents who plan to attend Saturday's event are Bundy supporters and Ted Nugent fans, according to an analysis of their Facebook pages by the Denver Post. They also hate President Barack Obama and Senate majority leader Harry Reid, according to the newspaper, which reports that "BLM employees in San Juan County have had windows shot out of their homes and their yards torn up by ATVs in the middle of the night."
Bundy supporters AND Ted Nugent fans? Well you know there is no reasoning with that crowd.
In fact things have already become potentially violent:
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is warning its workers in Utah to be on alert after two men threatened an agency wrangler on the state's main highway by pulling out a weapon and holding up a sign that read, "'You need to die."
The incident occurred Tuesday morning on Interstate 15 about 90 miles south of Salt Lake City, said BLM spokeswoman Megan Crandall. A BLM employee was driving his agency vehicle and pulling a trailer when two hooded men came up alongside him in a dark blue Dodge truck and flipped him off, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Corey Houskeeper said.
The truck slowed down before the men came up beside the BLM officer again and pulled out the sign and flashed a firearm, he said. No one was hurt, as the men sped away.
This of course is EXACTLY what the Federal government feared might happen after the Nevada stand off.
It can only be a matter of time before some local law enforcement or federal agent gets shot, and THEN what will Bundy say when he is in jail for inciting violence?
By the way apparently Bundy is also offering online history lessons for all of you who wasted your time learning the "wrong" history in school.
No I am NOT kidding! Here see for yourself.
He is going to look so precious all dressed in orange and with that obnoxious hat taken off of his pointy head.

Cliven Bundy supporting militias throw up roadblocks, on public roads, making residents show ID before allowing them to pass. Update!
Courtesy of TPM:
A Democratic congressman from Nevada said in a letter this week that his constituents have reported the armed militia supporting rancher Cliven Bundy have set up checkpoints to verify the residency of anybody passing through.
Rep. Steven Horsford (D-NV), who represents the area, sent the letter Sunday to Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie, asking him to investigate.
"I am writing to bring your attention to the ongoing situation in northeastern Clark County which has caused many of my constituents to fear for their safety," Horsford wrote. Residents in the area "have expressed concern over the continual presence of multiple out-of-state, armed militia groups that have remained in the community" since Bundy's dispute with the Bureau of Land Management came to a boil.
The militia, as reported by Horsford's constituents, "have set up checkpoints where residents are required to prove they live in the area before being allowed to pass," the letter said.
So can somebody please explain to me how these so-called "patriotic Americans" can circumvent the law and set themselves up as some third world military faction, treating citizens of this country as if they have no rights?
Not only that but some of these thugs have gone so far as to threaten one of our Senators:
Horsford's concerns come at the same time the U.S. Capitol Police confirmed they are looking into threatening statements made against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.
A police spokesman declined to give further details Monday, citing an ongoing investigation, but Reid has been an outspoken critic of Bundy.
THIS is the country that the NRA foresees. A nation where the power is held by those who are heavily armed, and willing to kill. Not by officers of the law.
Where legality is determined by the last man standing, and those seeking justice are pinned down by a hail of bullets.
Update: Here is more info on the checkpoints.
There is no way that this ends well.
