"George Bush who?" Republicans scrambling away from damaged President.

Marilyn Brewer, a leading Republican candidate for the nation's only open House seat, stared into the TV camera and proclaimed her support for the president.

She was not talking about George W. Bush.

I love this stuff! Republicans love you to death when you are a winner, but the minute that you cannot do anythng for them politically they lose your phone number.

But to be fair Bush is usually much more loyal.

Look at how long he covered for Michael Brown.

However it looks as if that loyalty is not going to be reciprocated. Poor George. Hee hee hee.

Gorilla's continue to evolve while Creationists keep rowing down that river they call Denial.

GORILLAS, the most reluctant of hominids, have been sighted for the first time using tools in the wild to help them to find food and wade through water.

While all other species of great apes, including chimpanzees and orang-utans, have been observed using sticks and rocks as tools, wild gorillas had never been recorded behaving in such a way. But conservationists have photographed two gorillas in the rainforests of the Republic of Congo using a branch as a walking stick, and a slender tree trunk as support while gathering food.

Monkeys solving problems while using tools? Hmmm, Well I certainly hope they don't move into my neighborhood. They will bring the property values right down.

More evidence that our Military is in trouble.

The Army is closing the books on one of the leanest recruiting years since it became an all-volunteer service three decades ago, missing its enlistment target by the largest margin since 1979 and raising questions about its plans for growth.
Many in Congress believe the Army needs to get bigger - perhaps by 50,000 soldiers over its current 1 million - in order to meet its many overseas commitments, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Army already is on a path to add 30,000 soldiers, but even that will be hard to achieve if recruiters cannot persuade more to join the service.

I am beginning to think that it is our military that is in it's death throes!

I have a new favorite Senator! Russ Feingold speaking truth to power in 2005!

Listen to this.

The President's policies in Iraq are breaking the United States Army. As soldiers confront the prospect of a third tour in the extremely difficult theater of Iraq, it would be understandable if they began to wonder why all of the sacrifice undertaken by our country in wartime seems to be falling on their shoulders. At some point, the sense of solidarity and commitment that helps maintain strong retention rates gives way to a sense of frustration with the status quo. I am concerned that we may be very close to that tipping point today.

Make no mistake, our military readiness is already suffering. According to a recent RAND study, the Army has been stretched so thin that active-duty soldiers are now spending one of every two years abroad, leaving little of the Army left in any appropriate condition to respond to crises that may emerge elsewhere in the world. Just days ago the Chief of the National Guard, General H Steven Blum, told a group of Senate staffers that the National Guard had approximately 75% of the equipment it needed on 9/11. Today, the National Guard has 34% of the equipment it needs. What we are asking of the Army is not sustainable. This cannot go on.
I have introduced a resolution calling for the President to publicly explain the mission that the US military is being asked to accomplish in Iraq and lay out a plan and timeframe for accomplishing that mission and subsequently bringing our troops home. And I have tried to jumpstart this discussion by proposing a date for US troop withdrawal: December 31, 2006. We need to have a realistic set of plans and benchmarks if we are to gain control of our Iraq policy, instead of letting it dominate our security strategy and drain vital security resources for an unlimited amount of time.

Did you recognize that? That was a little thing that we call the "TRUTH"! Finally a Senator saying out loud what we already suspect to be true. The military is suffering potentially irreparable damage and if we don't do somethng the volunteer army is going to go the way of the dinosaurs. It will be extinct!

Judith Miller is Free! One mound of shit and one portable fan ready for action!

After nearly three months in jail, New York Times reporter Judith Miller was released Thursday after agreeing to testify in the investigation into the disclosure of the identity of a covert CIA officer, two people familiar with the case said.
Miller left the federal detention center in Alexandria, Va., after reaching an agreement with Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald. Legal sources said she would appear before a grand jury investigation the case Friday morning. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because of the secrecy of the grand jury proceedings.

The sources said Miller agreed to testify after securing an unconditional release from Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, to testify about any discussions they had involving Plame.

There is almost too much going on for me to pay attention to, Hurricane Katrina and Rita failings, Delay is indicted, Frist is being investigated, Karl Rove is in trouble, the Presidents poll numbers are in free fall, Cindy Sheehan is getting more and more media coverage, etc., etc.,etc..

It is really an embarrassment of riches. Hee hee hee.

Nora Ephron channels my feelings about Bill Clinton.

Nora talks in the article about loving Bill Clinton and I completely understand what she meant by that because, though I did not "love" Bill, I had faith in him. I do not have faith in a great many things, but I had faith in Bill.

But my faith did not last. Bill got caught doing what many powerful men had been doing since the dawn of time, getting a little on the side. Then Bill lied to world about his mistake, and that was where he lost me.

Bill is just a man. I understand that. But he had to pretend to be much more then just a man. He had to be a President! We want perfect Presidents! And Bill was far from perfect.

Of course George Bush has made the office of President much less prestigious then it was when Clinton had the job. Bush is so imperfect and flawed that the bar is now almost lying on the ground. And that is another reason that I will never forgive Bill. Here, let Nora tell you.

Years passed. I'd sit around with friends at dinner talking about How We Got Here and Whose Fault Was It? Was it Nader's fault? Or Gore's? Or Scalia's? Even Monica got onto the list, because after all, she delivered the pizza, and that pizza was truly the beginning of the end. Most of my friends had a hard time narrowing it down to a choice, but not me: only one person was at fault, and it was Bill. I drew a straight line from that pizza to the war. The way I saw it, if Bill had behaved, Al would have been elected, and thousands and thousands of people would be alive today who are instead dead.

That is exactly right! If Bill had been more Presidential we would never have fought this unnecessary war and our country would never have become so incredibly screwed up!

Men have sacrificed many things in the search for sexual gratification, jobs, marriages, respect from their peers, but Bill sacrificed his country. Has any larger price ever been payed for a blow-job? I don't think so.

Why Lynndie England is a victim of a much larger problem.

Hate.

We all understand what that word means. Many of us can even think of somebody that we hate right now. Some of us are even aware of somebody who hates us.

We need hate. We need it to motivate us to go after those who mean us harm. We need it to bind our people together against the enemy. We need it as an excuse.

As a country we have hated many people, both here and abroad.

In the Revolutionary War we hated the British. They are now our allies.

In the Civil War we hated each other. We seem fine now.

In World War 1 we hated the Germans. We are now at peace with Germany.

In World War 2 we hated the Germans (again) and the Japanese. As previously stated, we get along fine with Germany, as well as Japan.

We have hated the Koreans, the Vietnamese, the Communists, and now we hate the Terrorists. Who are mostly of middle eastern descent.

Soldiers are taught to think of the enemy as less then human. The Japanese become "Japs", Germans are "Krauts" or "Nazi's". In the "War between the States" we were no longer Americans we were "Yanks" and "Rebels". In Vietnam the people were "Charlie". We hated "Charlie"!

We are every good at getting together a good hate. So, little Lynndie England is sent to work in a prison with the enemy. She was taught to hate the enemy. Her boyfriend hated the enemy. What was Lynndie to do? She did what she was told to do, she punished the enemy. She treated the enemy like the lowest piece of garbage on the planet. She hated them. They were not humans, they were the enemy.

Lynndie England is our fault. She was created by a military that made her wish do to harm to the bad guys and then they sent her to punish them. Which she did. Good soldier! Bad person?

We cannot have it both ways. We cannot teach this kids to hate and to kill and then expect them to have compassion! It does not take a degree in Psychology to see the flaw in that logic. And what is more these kids were given specific instructions to do terrible things to these "enemies". And they did. Terrible things!

Lynndie never stood a chance. Her country failed her. We failed her.

Bush mouthpiece Karen Hughes gets owned by group of Turkish women.

"This war is really, really bringing your positive efforts to the level of zero," said Hidayet Sefkatli Tuksal, an activist with the Capital City Women's Forum. She said it was difficult to talk about cooperation between women in the United States and Turkey as long as Iraq was under occupation.

"War makes the rights of women completely erased and poverty comes after war -- and women pay the price," said Fatma Nevin Vargun, a Kurdish women's rights activist. Vargun denounced the arrest of Cindy Sheehan, the activist mother of a soldier killed in Iraq, in front of the White House Monday at an antiwar protest.

Hughes, looking increasingly pained, defended the decision to invade Iraq as a difficult and wrenching moment for President Bush, but necessary to protect America.

"You're concerned about war, and no one likes war," she said. But, she said, "to preserve the peace sometimes my country believes war is necessary." She also asserted that women are faring much better in Iraq than under the rule of deposed president Saddam Hussein.

"War is not necessary for peace," shot back Feray Salman, a human rights advocate. She said countries should not try to impose democracy through war, adding that "we can never, ever export democracy and freedom from one country to another."

Tuksal said she was "feeling myself wounded, feeling myself insulted here" by Hughes' response. "In every photograph that comes from Iraq there is that look of fear in the eyes of women and children. . . . This needs to be resolved as soon as possible."

Wow these women are really taking it to Ms. Hughes! I gotta love the fact that this is exactly the kind of exchange that the White House tries to minimize. I guess Turkey is a "No Spin Zone".

Delay Indicted!

"I have done nothing wrong. ... I am innocent," DeLay told a Capitol Hill news conference during which he criticized the Texas prosecutor, Ronnie Earle, repeatedly. DeLay said the charges amounted to "one of the weakest and most baseless indictments in American history."

Oh please! I doubt if there are very many of these guys in the Republican heiarchy that don't have reasons to be indicted. This is one of the most corrupt administrations in history and as soon as we get some more Democrats in the Senate and the House we are going to find out just how many there are.

All together now.....IMPEACH BUSH!

In the "I told you so" department, Bush is positioning Roberts to strike down abortion law.

Here we go. Only a simpleton would have believed that B.S. about Roberts supporting established precedent. The dude is the administration hitman who's goal is to repeal every human rights law that the conservatives find offensive or may act as an impediment to taking full advantage of their employees.

If you are poor, female, or non-white your life is going to change dramatically in the next several years

George Bush in Hell! Gotta love a headline like that!

You would not want to be George W. Bush right now.

Not that you ever would anyhow, but especially not now. Indeed, there are indications that not even George W. Bush wants to be George W. Bush right now.

He can't win. America (or, more accurately, America's oligarchy) is clearly losing the war as it is. It is a fantasy to imagine that, at this late date, more troops could pacify the resistance. But even if that were so the political consequences to Bush, especially given his promise of no draft on his watch, would be devastating and rapid. American public opinion has already turned decisively against the war. Imagine if there were a draft and all the bumper-sticker patriots across the land had to actually make a sacrifice for their president's transparent lies. All hell would break loose, and the Republican Party would be dead for a generation.

In short, George W. Bush is toast, as is the whole regressive conservative movement of which he is but the most egregious exemplar. Not even another 9/11 would be likely to help him, as the security president who fails to provide security is the nothing (but simply failed) president. The demise of the right is now likely be true even if Democrats continue hurtling down their current path toward breaking all world records for political cowardice by a major party. Indeed, the worst of the Democrats may now also be in trouble amongst the base - as well they should be - for their cozy associations with the right, enabling its destructive march to the sea these last years.

This might be one of my favorite articles in months. I do sometimes wonder what is going through Bush's mind at times like this. Is he having a crisis of faith? Is he drinking again? Is he finally understanding that he screwed up? Is he listening to his handlers anymore? What does he think of his brain, Karl Rove, after so many missteps? Yep I wonder.

I wonder but I don't really give a shit! Anything that happens to George W. Bush is deserved in spades! Every pile of shit that lands on his head, is a pile of shit of his own making! He did this to the country! He did this to the government! He did this to himself! I am not a religious person but if there was indeed a God he should be making Bush's life a living hell! And according to all of the evidence it appears that he is.

Ashley Smith, the Atlanta hostage, gave her kidnapper Methamphetamine to let he go.What? I thought she used religion to convince him to release her?

So much for the power of prayer. It seems that the way to reach a desperate criminal is through a drug induced haze.

Actually it looks like God tried to kill her.

She writes that she asked Nichols if he wanted to see the danger of drugs and lifted up her tank top several inches to reveal a five-inch scar down the center of her torso — the aftermath of a car wreck caused by drug-induced psychosis. She says she let go of the steering wheel when she heard a voice saying, "Let go and let God."

I wonder if this is the same voice that keeps telling George Bush that he is doing a good job.

Cindy Sheehan refuses to pay her fine, looks for lawyer to help her fight the charges. Entire Bush administration falls off the wagon.

Can you imagine how puckered up George Bush's asshole is right now? No, not Karl Rove, the other asshole. It must be like a bad dream that he cannot wake up from.

Katrina, Rita, Cindy, it seems like powerful men are always taken down by the women in their lives. I noticed that last night the MSM finally started reporting on Iraq and the news was about the number of soldiers killed while we were distracted by Katrina and Rita.

Maybe if George is lucky there will be another storm and the MSM will stop covering Cindy and Iraq. However, I believe it is too late for this president. The media smell blood in the water and they are circling the wounded prey.

Karl Rove would have to be the worlds best magician to pull a rabbit out of his ass to save this presidency.

Belief in God is bad for our country!

Many liberal Christians and believers of other faiths hold that religious belief is socially beneficial, believing that it helps to lower rates of violent crime, murder, suicide, sexual promiscuity and abortion. The benefits of religious belief to a society have been described as its “spiritual capital”. But the study claims that the devotion of many in the US may actually contribute to its ills.

“The United States is almost always the most dysfunctional of the developing democracies, sometimes spectacularly so.”

The study concluded that the US was the world’s only prosperous democracy where murder rates were still high, and that the least devout nations were the least dysfunctional. Mr Paul said that rates of gonorrhoea in adolescents in the US were up to 300 times higher than in less devout democratic countries. The US also suffered from “ uniquely high” adolescent and adult syphilis infection rates, and adolescent abortion rates, the study suggested.

Wow!

I have to say even I am a little shocked at this. I am no lover of organized religions, and I never thought that they had much of a positive impact on society, but I never thought that they might actually increase our disfunctionality.

Hey this means I am the well adjusted one! Hah, wait until my next family reunion!

If you visit the Museum in Denver make sure that your Tour Guide is not this guy.

God made dinosaurs on the sixth day of Creation, the same day he made people, according to Rusty Carter's interpretation of the Bible.

"The word 'dinosaur' was not invented back then, but in Job 38, there's two large creatures, behemoth and leviathan," said Carter, director of the Littleton-based Biblically Correct Tours, as he prepared to give his first tour of the school year.

Either or both creatures were probably dinosaurs, he said.
Nineteen kids trailed behind Carter on Saturday morning at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, most of them nodding knowingly as their tour guide pointed out flaws in exhibits.
"What do you guys think? Is the world really 4.5 billion years old?" Carter asked. "Nonsense!" one girl called out. The adults in the group smiled.

Carter said demand for his religious tours of secular sites has been continual since the company's founding in 1988, but the media's attention has exploded recently as local and state school boards across the country debate how to teach evolution.

WTF? You know what this is? This is an insidious form of child abuse! Teaching children that science should be ignored in deference to an ancient book written by unknown authors and translated hundreds of times by individuals with their own axes to grind, is brutally irresponsible! Thses kids are going to be running my country! It is like a whole group of potential George Bush's!

Uh oh, that nasty old Science stuff has found more evidence to support Evolution.

If Darwin was right, for example, then scientists should be able to perform a neat trick. Using a mathematical formula that emerges from evolutionary theory, they should be able to predict the number of harmful mutations in chimpanzee DNA by knowing the number of mutations in a different species' DNA and the two animals' population sizes.

"That's a very specific prediction," said Eric Lander, a geneticist at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in Cambridge, Mass., and a leader in the chimp project.

Sure enough, when Lander and his colleagues tallied the harmful mutations in the chimp genome, the number fit perfectly into the range that evolutionary theory had predicted.
Their analysis was just the latest of many in such disparate fields as genetics, biochemistry, geology and paleontology that in recent years have added new credence to the central tenet of evolutionary theory: That a smidgeon of cells 3.5 billion years ago could -- through mechanisms no more extraordinary than random mutation and natural selection -- give rise to the astonishing tapestry of biological diversity that today thrives on Earth.

Evolution's repeated power to predict the unexpected goes a long way toward explaining why so many scientists and others are practically apoplectic over the recent decision by a Pennsylvania school board to treat evolution as an unproven hypothesis, on par with "alternative" explanations such as Intelligent Design (ID), the proposition that life as we know it could not have arisen without the helping hand of some mysterious intelligent force.

In other words, for those of you with a Kansas school education, the smart people are frustrated by the dumb peoples insistance on remaining dumb. Look, the reason that so many people cling to this belief that they were created by a God that chose them to rule over this world, is ego. These people just cannot accept that they are really no more important in the great scheme of things then a garden slug.

Get used to it. You are born, you live, you die. That is it. It is what you do with the time you have on this planet that gives your life worth. So stop clinging to ancient primitive beliefs and live your life with gusto. Drink a little, love a little, laugh a lot, and raise beautiful children to carry on after you are gone. What more is there really?

This is a travesty of justice.

Army Pfc. Lynndie England, whose smiling poses in photos of detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib made her the face of the scandal, was convicted Monday by a military jury on all but one of the seven counts she faced.

England, 22, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy, four counts of maltreating detainees and one count of committing an indecent act. She was acquitted on a second conspiracy count.
The jury of five male officers needed slightly more than two hours to reach its verdict. Her case now moves into the sentencing phase, which will determined by the same jury of five Army officers. She faces a maximum 10 years in prison.

England's trial is the last for a group of nine Army reservists charged with mistreating prisoners at Abu Ghraib. Two others have been convicted at trial and the remaining six made plea deals. Several of those soldiers testified at England's trial.

Have you ever seen this poor thing on television? If she has more I.Q. points then a hamster I will eat this computer. She is a victim here not a criminal. Unbelievable!

Cindy Sheehan arrested?

Sheehan and some 200 other protesters sat in circles on the sidewalk, apparently courting arrest. Hundreds more people rallied in Lafayette Park, across Pennsylvania Avenue.

Sheehan's arrest came after a massive antiwar demonstration Saturday in Washington which drew more than 100,000 people -- the largest such demonstration since the Iraq war began in spring 2003. A demonstration supporting the war drew roughly 500 people Sunday.

Good for you Cindy! Now see this is how to keep the nations focus on the war, and the lies that led up to it.

Man the administration is going to be sorry to see this headline!

Dover becomes Ground Zero for the rediculous Evolution vs Intelligent Design debate.

"I think we as Americans, regardless of our beliefs, should be able to freely access information, because people fought and died for our freedoms," Mrs. Hied said over a family dinner last week at their home, where the front door is decorated with a small bell and a plaque proclaiming, "Let Freedom Ring."

That my friends is what is known as a "trojan horse argument". These people do not promote free speech. What they promote is free access to their particular religious beliefs. If they were really interested in getting everybody's viewpoints taken into account during science class then the class would never learn anything except how many alternate creation theories exist in the world. And of course this one should be at the top of any list.

What do the logical residents of Dover say?

"You can dress up intelligent design and make it look like science, but it just doesn't pass muster," said Mr. Stough, a Republican whose idea of a fun family vacation is visiting fossil beds and natural history museums. "In science class, you don't say to the students, 'Is there gravity, or do you think we have rubber bands on our feet?' "

...........oh sorry, I was checking my feet. No rubber bands! But does the lack of rubber bands necessarily mean that gravity exists? No! It is the scientific evidence that proves that we have gravity.

Just because one explanation does not satisfy somebody does not mean that any arbitrary theory can be put in its place and treated as if it was equal to that theory. You have to have the science to back it up. Intelligent Design, by definition, relies on unprovable criteria to explain its relevence. Therefore it is not science and can never be taught in a science class.

Maureen Dowd works George "Stormy" Bush over a little. He is such an easy target these days.

Before the Katrina scandal, W. had lethargically wandered the country, lifelessly promoting his Social Security plan and an energy bill that did nothing to solve the energy crisis, and endlessly vacationing in Crawford.

By the way how is that Social Security reform coming along? Not so good?

This Jackass wasted almost an entire year trying to convince Americans that we desperately needed this change. I bet we never hear another word about it. Poor George has just not succeeded in dumbing us down enough to make us swallow all of his bullshit.

My heart bleeds.

This is where some Athiests and I part company.

"The crosses have a basis for being in our logo. We will hold course and will defend that," he said.

Las Cruces is Spanish for "The Crosses."

Okay now if a town is named "The Crosses" and they want to include crosses in their logo then how could I take exception to that? I am completely against states placing religious icons on public property because I find that insensitive. But if your city is called "The Crosses" then you are going to have to take it with a grain of salt.

An Idea from a fellow Blogger.

This idea comes to me from one of my favorite blogs at Shakespeares Sister Who apparently was inspired by Lawyers, Guns and Money .

So I checked and the 23rd post on "The Immoral Minority" was entitled Is Gryphen Dead? And the fifth sentence on that post was "I guess the fact that everything is going according to the Bushies plans is just so fucking disheartening".

I am in such a better place since those days. I even had my medication adjusted.

Britain to pull its Troops out of Iraq.

British troops will start a major withdrawal from Iraq next May under detailed plans on military disengagement to be published next month, The Observer can reveal.

The increasingly rapid pace of planning for British military disengagement has been revealed on the eve of the Labour Party conference, which will see renewed demands for a deadline for withdrawal. It is hoped that a clearer strategy on Iraq will quieten critics who say that the government will not be able to 'move on' until Blair quits. Yesterday, about 10,000 people demonstrated against the army's continued presence in the country.

You see? The people are forcing Blair to more quickly bring the troops home. If the Britains can do it then Goddamnit so can we! This war is our fault! Somehow we allowed this to happen. For those who voted for Bush the blame is obvious, but for those of us who knew better why couldn't we convince other people?

My mother and I had an interesting talk the other day.

She voted for Bush, even though we had talked about the reasons not to before the 2004 election. I was hushed by my wife for making a scene and for making my mother uncomfortable. I stopped that day.

Now last week my mother expressed regret for voting for Bush and when I asked her why she did she said that she had always thought that Republicans were better at solving problems. Now she knows better but is still confused. She admitted that she did not pay much attention to the news or the opposition to Bush. I have not yet asked her why she did not listen to me that day but I am going to this week. I am curious as to whether or not I could have changed her mind. I feel like I should have been able to get that one more vote away from Bush.

But this brings me to the bigger question. Did all of us who call ourselves Progressives do everything we could have to change minds? Did we get enough information out there? Or were we too embarrasssed to talk about this stuff in mixed company? I was. But I won't be next time!

The forces gathering against George Bush are motivated, angry, and determined. One more thing, they are us.

Americans turned out in poll-like numbers for the Saturday antiwar demonstration in Washington and I was among them. So many of us were there, in fact, that my wife (with friends at the back of the march) spent over two hours as it officially "began," moving next to nowhere at all.

This was, you might say, the "connection demonstration." In the previous month, two hurricanes, one of them human, had blown through American life; and between them, they had, for many people, linked the previously unconnected -- Bush administration policies and the war in Iraq to their own lives. So, in a sense, this might be thought of as the demonstration created by Hurricanes Cindy Sheehan and Katrina. It was, finally, a protest that, not just in its staggering turnout but in its make-up, reflected the changing opinion-polling figures in this country. This was a majority demonstration and the commonest statement I heard in the six hours I spent talking to as many protesters as I could was: "This is my first demonstration."

This was an America on very determined parade. Even though the march, while loud and energetic, had an air of relaxed calmness to it, the words that seemed to come most quickly to people's lips were: infuriated, enraged, outraged, had it, had enough, fed up. In every sense, in fact, this was a demonstration of words. I have never seen such a sea of words -- of signs, almost invariably handmade along with individually printed posters, T-shirts, labels, stickers. It often seemed that, other than myself, there wasn't an individual in the crowd without a sign and that no two of them were quite the same.

Hearing this literally gives me hope, in a time when everything seems hopeless. Bush has done more damage in his one term, and a hand full of months, then any previous president that I know of. The destruction seems to be so far flung all around the country and all around the world that I fear there is no repairing it.

How can we get our country back?

How can we ever earn the trust of the world back?

I ask these questions daily. So when I see so many of my countrymen gathering together to stand up for what is right then I do not feel alone nor do I feel incapable of making a change.

Together we are unstoppable. Pay attention George Bush we are coming!

Non-political post.

Somebody asked what I look like. I tried to post on E-blog using that Hello program and flat could not make it work. So anyhow that tan guy to the left is me in Hawaii.

And in case any nice ladies visit this site I am recently divorced and looking.

Did that sound sad? Yep bet it did.

Another Bush appointee sabotages a Venerated Agency.

Personal and political feuding at CIA headquarters is turning into a soap opera. Morale has declined for months as CIA chief Porter Goss has purged senior managers and critics have assailed the agency for fumbling intelligence on Al Qaeda and unconventional weapons in Iraq. And last week frustrations at Langley, Va., boiled over as career spies lobbed broadsides against Goss's stewardship.

Maybe this is how the Bush adminstraion is battling big government. By attrition. He just appoints the worst possible person to head the agency and then sits back and watches while it self-destructs. Brilliant, and evil!

Wait did I just call it "brilliant"? Well then Bush cannot be orchestrating this, it must be Cheney or Rove. In my opinion Bush is the Inspector Clouseau of this administration. He is harmless unless supported by his evil cohorts.

100,000 Protestors surround White House.

Man you just know Bush was drinking today!

You can run bitch, but you cannot hide!

Evolution under attack in Pennsylvania. People are determined that Evolution and Stupidity be taught side by side.

A landmark legal trial begins on Monday that could determine how the theory of evolution - one of the basic tenets of modern science - is taught in US schools.

In the town of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, 11 parents of children who already attend the nearby Dover High school or who will in future, together with the American Civil Liberties Union, are suing the Dover Area School District for voting in new rules that will encourage children to consider alternatives to evolution such as “intelligent design” (ID).

The court’s verdict will only bind schools within the Dover district, but could influence how schools teach evolution across the country, says Witold Walczak, a lawyer for the ACLU of Pennsylvania based in Pittsburgh, who will represent the parents.

“If we lose this case, I suspect it will send a green light to many school districts across the country that it is okay to teach ID,” he says. “If we win, hopefully it will put a break on what we view as a religious concept.

I have beaten this subject to death and yet it just will not die!

I weep for the future of America if these schools continue to dumb their pupils down like this.

Soldier gives insight into truth about Iraq war.

On the eve of large anti-war demonstrations in Washington and London, Hart Viges has told how indiscriminate fire from US troops is likely to have killed an untold number of Iraqi civilians. Mr Viges, 29, said he was still haunted by the memories of what he experienced and urged President George Bush to withdraw US troops from Iraq.

"I don't know how many innocents I killed with my mortar rounds," Mr Viges, who served with the 82nd Airborne Division, said during a presentation this week at American University in Washington. "In Baghdad, I had days that I don't want to remember. I try to forget," he added.

Nobody shoud be required to kill innocents. Especially for a cause that turns out to be a lie. Who pays for this guys pain? Who could possibly make it up to him?

Attacking the lie about Iraq's foreign insurgents. There are not very damn many!

The US and Iraqi governments have vastly overstated the number of foreign fighters in Iraq, and most of them don't come from Saudi Arabia, according to a new report from the Washington-based Center for Strategic International Studies (CSIS). According to a piece in The Guardian, this means the US and Iraq "feed the myth" that foreign fighters are the backbone of the insurgency. While the foreign fighters may stoke the insurgency flames, they only comprise only about 4 to 10 percent of the estimated 30,000 insurgents.

You know how you sometimes hear something and immediately know that it is Bullshit? Well for me this was one of those news items that never really rang true for me. All I had to do is imagine Canada driving tanks through my Alaska neighborhood, deposing my leaders, cutting off my water and electricity, and then telling me to form a new government, for me to know that I would be hiding on a rooftop waiting to blow away some canuck military dude! The Iraqi's have every reason in the world to rise up against the occupying force. Who wouldn't?

David Gregory's question scares Bush away From Hurricane Rita. White House blames change on the Sun?

At the Federal Emergency Management Agency's command center in Washington a reporter asked him: "Sir, what good can you do going down to the hurricane zone? Might you get in the way?"

Mr. Bush quickly shot back, "One thing I won't do is get in the way." After explaining the purpose of his trip was to make sure federal, state and local officials coordinate well, he added, "We will make sure that my entourage does not get in the way of people doing their job, which will be search and rescue immediately."

But clearly someone at the White House reconsidered the President's impact. When Mr. McClellan announced that the president had scrapped his trip, he said that with the search-and-rescue team preparing to move with the storm, "we didn't want to slow that down."

Another White House official involved in preparing Mr. Bush's way noted that with the sun shining so brightly in San Antonio, the images of Mr. Bush from here might not have made it clear to viewers that he was dealing with an approaching storm.

The reporter who asked that question is David Gregory who seems to be the only White House Press Corps reporter with any balls whatsoever. The obvious conclusion from this exchange, and the Bush response, is that the press has the administration on the run! They no longer control the press to the degree that have in the past and Dick Gregory is the most obvious example of a reporter to break from the pack and go for the jugular to get the truth everytime he is given the chance.

We need a room full of Dick Gregory's. Then we would see little Scotty McCellan hiding behind his podium waving a tiny white flag.

"Enough, I will tell you what you want to know! Yes the President is drinking again! Yes the President is a simpleton! Yes Karl Rove is a souless demon from the great abyss! Yes I had sex with Jeff Gannon! Yes I often wet myself while standing up here! It's all true! It's all true!"

Her own Defense lawyer claims that Lynndie England is mildly retarded. Which obviously makes her a Bush supporter.

"It is my opinion that Lynndie England carries with her an immense amount of baggage," said Thomas Dene, a school psychologist who knew her from when she was 4 years old. "Lynndie England has a very complex language-processing dysfunction."

"She is overly compliant in social settings, especially in the presence of perceived authority."

I have always felt bad for this young woman. She was made the poster child for all of the Abu Ghraib abuses and it was clearly unfair. If I was this girls parents I would sue the United States Military, first for even allowing her to enlist, and second for allowing her to be abused and seduced by her superior officers. Do not forget that there are apparently photos of group sex featuring this damaged little girl.

Beware George W. Bush the anti-War Movement is coming!

I have always considered myself a fair fighter. I never struck an opponent when he was down. I never fought anybody who was weaker or smaller then me.

But having said that, though George Bush is bloodied by recent events in New Orleans, now is the time for the Anti-war protestors to make their move. I don't think that Bush or Karl Rove has any more effective tricks up their sleeves.

These are bad people who made terrible decisions and it is time to put a stop to it! I believe that the Anti-war movement will find far more sympathetic Americans then it would have six months ago, and that means that their voice will be heard further and wider then before the recent tragedies.

I, in no way, support using the plight of the people in Louisiana to make political hay. I do think that it is fair game to use the failures of FEMA as another example of this administrations poor policy decisions. It is just another log on the fire in the Anti-Bush bonfire.

With no real leadership the military loses their integrity and tortures Iraqi's.

On a normal day I was on shift in a PUC tent. When we got these guys we had them sandbagged and zip tied, meaning we had a sandbag on their heads and zip ties [plastic cuffs] on their hands. We took their belongings and tossed them in the PUC tent. We were told why they were there. If I was told they were there sitting on IEDs [Improvised Explosive Devices, homemade bombs] we would fuck them up, put them in stress positions or put them in a tent and withhold water.

To “Fuck a PUC” means to beat him up. We would give them blows to the head, chest, legs, and stomach, pull them down, kick dirt on them. This happened every day.

What I want back from this fucking administration is my right to feel proud of my country again. When I think about the role of America in the world today I feel ashamed. I did not feel ashamed during the Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, or Clinton administration. This is the first time since Vietnam that I have been embarrassed at my country's conduct. I want my national self-esteem back!

Saudi Arabia tells United States that they are fucking up Iraq!

Prince Saud al-Faisal, the Saudi foreign minister, said Thursday that he had been warning the Bush administration in recent days that Iraq was hurtling toward disintegration, a development that he said could drag the region into war.

"There is no dynamic now pulling the nation together," he said in a meeting with reporters at the Saudi Embassy here. "All the dynamics are pulling the country apart." He said he was so concerned that he was carrying this message "to everyone who will listen" in the Bush administration.

Yeah good luck with that buddy! This administration is completely incapable of hearing anything critical or challenging about any of their policies. Our country is being run by an administration just chalk full of morons with cognitive dissonance. Pity us!

If you don't believe in our God you cannot work with us.

The House voted Thursday to let Head Start centers consider religion when hiring workers, overshadowing its moves to strengthen the preschool program's academics and finances.

The Republican-led House approved a bill that lets churches and other faith-based preschool centers hire only people who share their religion, yet still receive federal tax dollars.

Democrats blasted that idea as discriminatory.

Okay this is just anothe example of how short sighted and tunnel visioned these Republicans have become. Don't you think that if agencies can choose to hire somebody of similar beliefs that they can also choose not to hire somebody who is of a different faith? And I know that the previous statements do not raise any red flags with Christians yet so try this on for size. Based on this ruling companies could refuse to hire somebody because they were a Christian!

Is that getting through you pea sized brain? Descrimination cuts both ways. That is why the framers were so careful to ensure the religious rights of everybody! Ignorant morons!

Jesus Weeps.

A 14-year-old student was expelled from a Christian school because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter.
Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.
"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother.

Just too sad.

Gas prices making you crazy? Yeah me too.

Holy Crap Batman! Jimmy Carter says Al Gore won 2000 election!

There is "no doubt in my mind that Gore won the election," the erstwhile President declared, saying the 2000 election process "failed abysmally."

He also snubbed the Supreme Court for getting involved, saying it was "highly partisan."

Damn this is big! Jimmy is no piker in the Democratic party! Okay the rest of you Dem's the ball is in your court. What are you going to do about it?

Just what is Jon Stewarts impact on todays politics?

Reporter: Senator, what do you think of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”?

Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.): The what now?

Reporter: “The Daily Show.” It’s a show that makes fun of politicians.

Burns: Well, that’s OK. We’re pretty easy to make fun of.

Reporter: What kind of impact do you think Jon Stewart has?

Burns: None on me. We can make our own humor.

Reporter: Excuse me, congressman, have you ever watched “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”?

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas): No. I don’t even know who he is.

Sen. Ted Stevens (Alaska), the most senior Republican in the Senate, was in the thick of a policy-luncheon press throng last week when he was asked about Stewart.“I don’t know who that is,” Stevens replied as reporters broke out into a rush of questions about Supreme Court nominee John Roberts and Hurricane Katrina.

“Wait a minute,” the senator said, momentarily disregarding the issues of the day, “who is that?”

Anybody who has read this blog knows that I have nothing but love and respect for Jon and the wonderful gift of comedy that he and his writers deliver to me four nights a week. The fact that the people who are often the source of Stewarts material do not even know who he is just makes it that much more humorous.

When I first learned that a large segment of the college age voters in this country were getting their political information from Jon I was appalled! However, after watching the piss poor job the main stream media did in delivering the goods. I decided that the college kids were ahead of the curve on finding pertinent information untainted by any connection to a monster conglomerate.

It is no surprise to me that my own Senator Ted Stevens is unaware of "The Daily Show", I don't think the old fart even knows that we are no longer in the 1960's.

George Bush says we will not leave Iraq on his Watch. So now I am checking my Watch to see if his Watch is almost over!

"I recognise their good intentions but their position is wrong," the president said. "Withdrawing our troops would make the world more dangerous."

I really hate it when he calls me wrong! This, by the way, is the same logic that kept us in Vietnam way past our ability to win that conflict. Crack a fucking history book buddy! The fat lady is singing her brains out and you have earmuffs on!

National Enquirer says Bush is hitting the bottle again! I don't usually gives these guys much credit but they have been right before.

Bush, who said he quit drinking the morning after his 40th birthday, has started boozing amid the Katrina catastrophe.

Family sources have told how the 59-year-old president was caught by First Lady Laura downing a shot of booze at their family ranch in Crawford, Texas, when he learned of the hurricane disaster.

His worried wife yelled at him: "Stop, George."

Who do you thnk is the source? My money is on the maid. The National Enquirer loves using the maids. Or maybe it is a fake ranch hand. You know, the guy that they hire to stand around looking cowboyish to give the ranch some media cred.

Or maybe it is one of his daughters! Ungrateful bitches! It just figures that they would turn on their father at his lowest point. I never trusted those girls!

"When the levees broke in New Orleans, it apparently made him reach for a shot," said one insider. "He poured himself a Texas-sized shot of straight whiskey and tossed it back. The First Lady was shocked and shouted: "Stop George!"

Does anybody really care if George is drinking again? I mean do you really think a drunk George Bush could do a worse job then a sober one? At this point I would be willing to try anything! Bottoms up George!

As a matter of fact maybe I will have a couple of shots as well! Salute!

Clinton shows that you don't have to live in the White House to be presidential.

Welcome to Planet Clinton, an interconnected world that's a solar system and a wormhole away from Bush country. Here Shimon Peres and Oprah Winfrey are just members of the audience. Barbra Streisand looks like any peppy matron taking an extension course. Brad Pitt's staccato hair and Angelina Jolie's duvet lips (sighted in the audience of Jeffrey Sachs's poverty panel) are reduced to a responsible human scale. Wandering out of a kitchen exit I found myself in a milling informal think tank with the former president expounding to the two guys who founded Google and a sprightly "Planet of the Apes" figure who turned out to be Mick Jagger.

I have to say this sounds like a party tht I kill to be invited to. The idea of standing in a room with people who are putting their personal agendas on the back burner and focusing on doing the right thing for this planet gets me hot! In my opinion this group is going to have alot to do with getting Hillary elected President. They won't necessarily campaign for her but they will be in the background making a difference with her husband and therefore making her seem more connected to progress in the world and in this country. Rather then being a albatross , Bill has tranformed himself into Hillary's "not so secret" weapon.

Bush is channeling Lyndon B. Johnson. Why can't he ever channel a good President?

"America is committed to the defense of South Vietnam until an honorable peace can be negotiated," Johnson told the Tennessee Legislature on March 15, 1967. Despite the obstacles to victory, the president said, "We shall stay the course."

After 14 Marines died in a roadside bombing on Aug. 3, Bush declared: "We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. And the job is this: We'll help the Iraqis develop a democracy."

Johnson's main arguments were much like those Bush has employed: War was justified to protect the U.S. and to encourage freedom everywhere. When faced with mounting losses on the battlefield, both presidents offered the dead as a reason to keep fighting.

Shit! This is what happens when you elect a president who knows nothing about history.

Simpering little momma's boy! Anybody know how that impeachment is coming along?

Apparently the high gas prices are making my state stinking rich! Damn now I am all conflicted again!

Okay so we don't pay any state taxes. So we have an annual payout to every Alaskan that at one time topped out at $1,900.00.

Is that any reason to hate us? Yeah it kind of is isn't it?

United States human rights abuses sets bad example for the rest of the world.

"The USA Patriot Act was destined to foster abuses, as it weakened the system of checks and balances on law enforcement while setting aside due process safeguards under the law," says Jumana Musa, advocacy director at Amnesty International USA.

Alarmingly, Musa added, the Patriot Act has inspired a proliferation of copycat laws worldwide, prompting abuses that the United States has officially pledged to counter.

"The boast that the United States is now the world's only superpower has a grim undertow in the area of human rights; no one can tell Washington what to do or not do, no matter how egregious its cruelties," says Norman Solomon, executive director of the Washington-based Institute for Public Accuracy.

"Most governments deserve to be censured by a human rights committee. The United States, far from being an exception, is among the most culpable -- in particular because of its large-scale foreign policy efforts pursued under the rubric of a 'war on terrorism' over the last four years," Solomon told IPS.

I do not subscribe to the theory that we are indeed the world's last superpower because I would argue that China has usurped that role, however I do believe that we have an obligation to set an appropriate example for the rest of the world to follow concerning human rights. After all our entire government is supposedly based on equal rights for everybody. We need to walk that walk.

By an 8 point margin voters are more likely to call themselves Democrats then Republicans!

Oh oh oh my God! This is the best news I have heard in five years! My old Liberal heart is just going to burst with joy!

The Prophet Bobby Henderson speaks about his Lord the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I had of course seen spaghetti several times throughout my life, but it wasn't until He revealed Himself to me and touched me with His Noodly Appendage that I knew I was Chosen. Does He still speak to me? If by that you mean "Do I hear voices in my head?" the answer is yes. Further evidence that He is near me abounds. I oftentimes find that I have made mistakes in my day-to-day activities. These, clearly, are the work of a mischievous Flying Spaghetti Monster, tampering with my work with His Noodly Appendage, purely for his own amusement.

How honored Mr. Henderson must feel to have been chosen by the fabled "Appendage"! I can only hope to some day feel that noodly limb caress my worthless self and claim me as one with the Pastafarians. Screw Pat Robertson and his vengeful God!

Museum instructs staff on how to talk to Creationists. I know the answer to this one, you simply say "you're too stupid to be in this museum"!

This puts me in mind of tour guides who are taught several words in Spanish to accomodate those who do not speak English. You have to find another method to communicate with those who do not understand what you are saying, like Creationists.

These people do not go to the museum to learn. They go there to disrupt and force their narrow viewpoints down the throats of the more educated and urbane museum patrons. They should just go and get their own museum. Oh wait they did.

Christian Moralists on a rampage! FBI to create task force to take on Porn!

The new squad will divert eight agents, a supervisor and assorted support staff to gather evidence against "manufacturers and purveyors" of pornography -- not the kind exploiting children, but the kind that depicts, and is marketed to, consenting adults.

"I guess this means we've won the war on terror," said one exasperated FBI agent, speaking on the condition of anonymity because poking fun at headquarters is not regarded as career-enhancing. "We must not need any more resources for espionage."

Among friends and trusted colleagues, an experienced national security analyst said, "it's a running joke for us."

I think the pattern is pretty obvious here. The right wing tries to get Roe vs Wade overturned, they teach "abstinence only" sex education, and now they want to get rid of porn! These people just flat out hate sex! This must be why they were so freaked out about Bill's blowjob.

"A president who has sex! He must be run out of office!"

Okay let me help you wingnutters clarify some things. Sex is good! Not just for procreating, but good all by its lonesome. Porn can be an enhancement to sex. It should not replace sex in a marriage or co-habitating couple but it should not threaten those relationships either. Porn should not threaten women because very few guys would feel secure having sex with those surgically enhanced fuck machines. Your guy wants you. He just wants you to try something different and naughty.

And by the way I have it on good authority that it is not only guys who watch porn. More and more women are also looking for toys and tapes, lubes and lingerie, and other naughty bedroom surprises for their man and for themselves. One of the largest porn collections I ever saw was owned by two lesbians. They had tapes of girls with girls but also man on man and man on woman. You know that made even me a little uncomfortable.

However the point is that though there is certainly a seedy, degrading side to porn, I would argue that the same could be said for the music industry and other entertainment mediums. There are at least as many rock stars hooked on drugs and abused by their industries as there are porn stars in the same boat. But nobody is investigating what has happened to Mary Kate and Ashley lately.

We have real problems in this country. We are under attack by the most aggressive hateful enemy that America has ever faced. They will stop at nothing to destroy our way of life and they must be stopped! I am of course talking about the Bush administration! I for one would like the FBI to focus their energies into that investigation!

New York Stormtroopers block Cindy Sheehans right to free speech.

Cindy Sheehan may be the Rosa Parks of the anti-war movement. But that didn't stop members of the New York Police Department from marching into the crowd of about 150 people gathered in Union Square Monday to hear her speak and yanking away the microphone.

The NYPD pulled the plug just as Sheehan was calling on the audience not to lose heart in the fight to end the war in Iraq.

It just gets worse in this country everyday.

John Roberts IS GOING TO REPEAL ROE VS WADE!

Okay now let's get real here. George Bush is not going to put anybody on the Supreme Court who is not going to try and repeal this ruling! Just because nobody can get this smiling Ted Bundy look-a-like to admit anything does not mean a Goddamn thing! The guy is a time bomb! They are going to attach him to the court and at the right time, probably after this president has left office, he is going to explode! He will repeal human rights all day long until the Rich White Males gain complete control over the planet again! And he has a message for all of us so listen close;

Screw you unwed mothers!

Screw you African Americans!

Screw you Hispanics. Thanks for those that voted Republican though.

Screw you non-religious government programs!

Screw you proponents for the seperation of church and state!

Screw you non- Christians!

Screw all of you who are not Christian Fat Cat Wealthy White Male Racist Assholes!

George Bush is going take this contry as far back into the dark ages as he possibly can before he is bum rushed out of office. And we don't start playing hardball with him we are going to feel the effects of this bastard presidency for decades. I fear for my children and you should fear for yours as well.

Don't let the Republicans touch the Damn Money!

One billion dollars has been plundered from Iraq's defence ministry in one of the largest thefts in history, The Independent can reveal, leaving the country's army to fight a savage insurgency with museum-piece weapons.

The money, intended to train and equip an Iraqi army capable of bringing security to a country shattered by the US-led invasion and prolonged rebellion, was instead siphoned abroad in cash and has disappeared.

Okay I have just about had it with these bumble fucks! How in the hell can you lose a billion dollars? Did it ever occur to this administration that maybe the Iraqi's are just soaking us for as much money and weapons as they can before we run out of patience with them, at which time they will implement whatever government that they have planned all along and then laugh uproariously at us as we stammer out our pathetic protests?

You know I would like some of this money that the govenment keeps throwing around. I promise to do whatever you ask me to, right up until you give me the cash, then I am going to flip you the bird and run off cackling to the bank. That shouldn't bother you guys cause it happens to you all of the damn time!

Here is another little tidbit for you. There is no bottomless pit full of money! Somebody has to pay all of this money back! We are borrowing millions and billions of dollars from countries that don't even like us. Does it not occur to anybody in this administration that this may be the worst idea in the history of bad ideas? Listen I have an idea... come closer......ready?

STOP!

Don't do anymore. Don't do anything! Don't make a move until you ask somebody who is not a Republican for some advice. Then do whatever they tell you to do. There is no way it could be dumber then what you assholes are doing.

If you can't get elected President of the United States then the next best job for Psychopaths is finanacial traders?

A team of U.S. scientists has found the emotionally impaired are more willing to gamble for high stakes and that people with brain damage may make good financial decisions, the Times newspaper reported on Monday.

Okay now I have noted before on this blog that I work in the mental health field. I have actually worked with a number of individuals with various mental pathologies. I would never let them touch my money! I am all about mainstreaming but no fucking way! Somebody needs to check the mental faculties of the scientists that led this study.

You know if he had volunteered to fight in his uncle's war he might have stayed out of trouble.

Here is another shining example from the Bush gene pool. John Ellis Bush, George "let me send your kids to die"Bush's nephew and son of Jeb "feeding tube" Bush.

Someday he will want to enter politics. Maybe Karl Rove's son will help him cover up this little embarrassment.

Look you want to straighten this punk out? Enlist his candy ass into the Marines and get him some second hand armor and let him hunt for Osama. Look if he gets lucky he will be infinitely more electable!

Great! Now Bush made God mad at us!

A group of Church of England bishops issued a report today criticising American foreign policy, the US war on terror and some American Christians' use of biblical texts to support a political agenda in the Middle East, and accuses the US of using illegitimate and dangerous rhetoric.

Oooh now you did it! These guys totally know God and if they say what the U.S. is doing is bad, well then it must be! Now see maybe that is why God keeps sending those politically damaging hurricanes at us!

Of course this president absolutely believes that God is on his side. The Almighty himself would have to come down and bitchslap Bush personally to get him to change that view. And I would pay anything to get front row seats to that!

Jon Stewart wins Emmy!

This gives me hope. Sometimes the good guys do win. Nobody deserves this as much as Jon! We love you Mr. Stewart, keep up the amazing work.

Another disillusioned soldier back from Iraq. I try so hard not to compare this war with Vietnam but c'mon!

When I led my men of the 1st Battalion the Royal Irish Regiment across the border into Iraq we believed we were going to do some good. Goodwill and optimism abounded; it was to be a liberation, I had told my men, not a conquest.

In Iraq I sought to surround myself with advisers - Iraqis - who could help me understand what needed to be done. One of the first things they taught me was that the Baath party had been a fact of life for 35 years. Like the Nazi party, they said, it needed to be decapitated, harnessed and dismantled, each function replaced with the new regime. Many of these advisers were Baathists, yet were eager to co-operate, fired with the enthusiasm of the liberation. How must it look to them now?

What I had not realized was that there was no real plan at the higher levels to replace anything, indeed a simplistic and unimaginative overreliance in some senior quarters on the power of destruction and crude military might. We were to beat the Iraqis. That simple. Everything would come together after that.

The Iraqi army was defeated - it walked away from most fights - but was then dismissed without pay to join the ranks of the looters smashing the little infrastructure left, and to rail against their treatment. The Baath party was left undisturbed. The careful records it kept were destroyed with precision munitions by the coalition; the evidence erased, they were left with a free rein to agitate and organize the insurrection. A vacuum was created in which the coalition floundered, the Iraqis suffered and terrorists thrived.

The dam is starting to burst. There is no stopping the truth from being exposed now. Katrina showed the whole world that our emporer has no clothes on and now the Bush's can do nothing to intimidate people into not talking anymore.

Bush's Katrina speech actually hurt his poll numbers.

Down from 39% to 35%. Beautiful.

Bill Clinton finally takes off the gloves and lets Bush have it. About Goddamn time!

Breaking with tradition under which US presidents mute criticisms of their successors, Clinton said the Bush administration had decided to invade Iraq "virtually alone and before UN inspections were completed, with no real urgency, no evidence that there were weapons of mass destruction."

The Iraq war diverted US attention from the war on terrorism "and undermined the support that we might have had."

This is one of the probelms with Democrats, they are so damn civil! you know that the Republicans would ripped Clinton a new one if the roles had been reversed.

On the US budget, Clinton warned that the federal deficit may be coming untenable, driven by foreign wars, the post-hurricane recovery programme and tax cuts that benefitted just the richest one percent of the US population, himself included.
"What Americans need to understand is that ... every single day of the year, our government goes into the market and borrows money from other countries to finance Iraq,
Afghanistan, Katrina, and our tax cuts," he said.

"We have never done this before. Never in the history of our republic have we ever financed a conflict, military conflict, by borrowing money from somewhere else."

Clinton added: "We depend on Japan, China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Korea primarily to basically loan us money every day of the year to cover my tax cut and these conflicts and Katrina. I don't think it makes any sense."

You go Bill! Finally somebody is pointing out what an unbelievably short shighted adminstration that we have in power right now. I have said it before but it bears repeating, Bush is the ADD president, he can only be concerned with today with no thought of tomorrow.

George W. Bush destroys Bush family legacy.

My darling Maureen Dowd outs George W. as a pale imitation of his father, who was an even paler imitation of Ronald Reagan.

As Mark Twain said: "When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years."

Of course, it's taken Junior only five years to learn how smart his old man was.
His father made the "mistake" of not conquering and occupying Iraq because he had the silly idea that Iraqis would resent it. His father made the "mistake" of raising taxes, not cutting them, and overly obsessing about the federal deficit. And his father made the "mistake" of hewing to the center, making his base mad and losing his bid for re-election.

Bush père did make a real mistake in responding slowly to Hurricane Andrew in 1992, but that blunder has been dwarfed by what the slothful son hath wrought. Because of his fatal tardiness, W. now has to literally promise the moon to fix New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast, driving up the federal deficit and embarking on the biggest spending bonanza and government public works program since F.D.R.

In his address from the French Quarter, the president sounded like such a spendthrift bleeding heart that he is terrifying the right more than his father ever did.

Read my lips: By the time all this is over, people will be saying that Poppy was the true conservative in the family.

America needs money! It is time to raise taxes. Yeah I said it!

Look I know that we have been conditioned by the Republican mis-information machine to believe that raising taxes is the work of the Devil, but it just so happens to be how we pay for government both local and federal. We are waging two wars (so far) and trying to pay for the biggest whether related disaster to ever hit the United States. Not to mention that we are already over $7,996,500,000.00 in debt. The only way to ever even begin to dig ourselves out of this chasm that we find ourselves in, is to raise some damn money! And that means taxes. Deal with it!

The list of countries that offered us aid. They like us they just don't like our president.

It warms the cockles of my heart to see such humanity still exists in the world. With our arrogance and cavalier attitude toward the rights of other countries it is almost shocking to see how forgiving and caring the rest of the world can be. Personally I am humbled. And thankful.

FEMA stopped doctors from saving lives.

In the midst of administering chest compressions to a dying woman several days after Hurricane Katrina struck, Dr. Mark N. Perlmutter was ordered to stop by a federal official because he wasn't registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

"I begged him to let me continue," said Perlmutter, who left his home and practice as an orthopedic surgeon in Pennsylvania to come to Louisiana and volunteer to care for hurricane victims. "People were dying, and I was the only doctor on the tarmac (at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport) where scores of nonresponsive patients lay on stretchers. Two patients died in front of me.

"I showed him (the U.S. Coast Guard official in charge) my medical credentials. I had tried to get through to FEMA for 12 hours the day before and finally gave up. I asked him to let me stay until I was replaced by another doctor, but he refused. He said he was afraid of being sued. I informed him about the Good Samaritan laws and asked him if he was willing to let people die so the government wouldn't be sued, but he would not back down. I had to leave."

It seems clear that FEMA's main contrubution to the relief effort was to strangle it in rules and red tape. This problem is not solved by sacrificing Michael Brown to the media. This problem goes all the way to the top!

We knew it would happen as soon as Bush touched it, Iraq is broken!

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the perpetrator of al-Qaida's terror and violence in Iraq, now appears set on instigating a full-fledged civil war between the country's Shiite and Sunni communities.

The dangers of an intra-Muslim conflagration in Iraq are many; Fighting between the country's Shiites and Sunnis could easily spill beyond the porous borders of that fractured country, enflaming large areas of the volatile Arab World.

Continued fighting in Iraq could drag U.S. and Coalition forces in Iraq into a deeper quagmire, of which the outcome is unknown, or it could result in breaking up the country into three separate states -- a Kurdish state in the north, a Sunni in the center and a Shiite in the south. However, each of these comes with their own set of problems.

Colin Powell showed no small amount of clarvoyance when he used the Pottery Barn "You break it you own it " reference in describing what the United States would face when they captured Saddam. However what he did not realize is that Bush was going into the Pottery Barn with his hands covered in thick oil. Everything this President touched is broken. I have literally never seen anything like this in my life. Let's run down the list.

  1. The Economy-BROKEN!
  2. Education-BROKEN!
  3. Iraq-BROKEN!
  4. The Military-BROKEN!
  5. FEMA-BROKEN!
  6. The U.S. reputation-BROKEN!

Now he is in the process of breaking Social Security and the United Nations. He must be stopped! C'mon say it with me.....IMPEACH BUSH!

Apparently all of our major news gatherers are on the Administration payroll!

Can this be true? I have often hinted that it felt that way, but truthfully always wanted to believe that I was getting the truth most of the time. I wasn't!

At least that wily old codger Sumner Redstone, head of Viacom, parent company of CBS, has admitted what everyone already knows is true: that, while he personally may be a Democrat, “It happens that I vote for Viacom. Viacom is my life, and I do believe that a Republican administration is better for media companies than a Democratic one.”

Once upon a time, large corporations and their executives typically avoided any public discussion of their politics because partisan positions alienated customers and employees. But all of that changed after GE bought NBC in 1986. For seemingly eons, Immelt’s predecessor, the legendary Jack Welch, was a rabid right-winger who boasted openly about helping turn former liberals Chris Matthews and Tim Russert into neocons.

As for Immelt, he publicly wishes his MSNBC could be a clone of FNC. Not surprising, since he let his network and cable news cheerlead the run-up to the Iraqi war without ever bothering to tell viewers GE had billions in contracts pending. More than half of Iraq’s power grid is GE technology. It was also under Immelt that GE installed a former adviser to W and Condi, who also served as press secretary to former first lady Barbara “Let ’em eat cake” Bush, as NBC Universal’s executive vice president of communications.

Disney, parent company of ABC, has turned most of its extensive radio network and owned-and-operated stations into a 24/7 orgy of right-wing talk. (Sean Hannity is their poster boy.) Disney’s chief lobbyist, Preston Padden, is not only one of Washington, D.C.’s most infamous Republican lobbyists, but he used to work for Rupert Murdoch. Bush even pleaded just days after 9/11 for Americans to “go down to Disney World in Florida.” Meanwhile, Disney World has benefited from special security measures, including extra protection and a federally declared “no-flyover zone.” And let’s not forget that Michael Eisner pulled the distribution plug on Fahrenheit 9/11.

There is not one left. All of that right wing bullshit about the Liberal media was just a smokescreen. The media is in bed, spooning, the right wing conservatives. I just feel sick.

I have to post this. Bush cannot button his own shirt.

Okay first he writes a note asking if he can go to the bathroom and now he demonstrated his inablity to dress himself. It is seeming more and more like our country is being run by a pre-schooler.

FEMA credit cards used in strip clubs. Your tax dollars at work.

A bartender at Baby Dolls, identified only as "Abby," said she has seen many of the cards used at her establishment.

"You lost your whole house, then, why not?" she said "You might want some beer in a strip club. There are a lot of guys out there that like to do that."

Okay I'm a guy. So as a guy I have to be a little forgiving of someone who finds some money in his pocket and decides to use it to go see boobies. And it is helping the local economy. Some of those girls have families!

But....is this really the best use of our relief money? I mean is everybody fed? Does everybody have a warm place to sleep? What happens when they have spent all of the money on the credit card? Are there jobs being lined up for these people? Somebody needs to make sure that these other needs are being met way before these guys get to see "topless coeds gone wild".

I know that there are a lot of guys who are going to be pissed at my response, and to those guys I would say "I LOVE BOOBIES"! Right after I get something to eat.

Katrina has washed Bush presidency down the drain.

Bush's America is gone with the wind. It lasted just short of four years, from Sept. 11, 2001, to Aug. 29, 2005. The devastation of New Orleans was the watery equivalent of a dirty bomb, but Hurricane Katrina approached the homeland with advance warnings, scientific anticipation and a personal briefing of the president by the director of the National Hurricane Center, alerting him about a possible breaching of the levees. It was as predictable as though Osama bin Laden had phoned in every detail to the television networks. No future terrorist attack would or could be as completely foreseen as Katrina.

The deepest wound is not that he was incapable of defending the country but that he has shown he lacks the will to do so. In Bush's own evangelical language, he revealed his heart.

The Bush presidency made me feel safe only once. It was when I sat riveted to my television, as I had been for days, and watched George W. Bush stand on the rubble of the Twin Towers and tell me he was going to get the ones who attacked us. It was what I wanted to hear and I blinked back my tears and I felt safe.

In all of the years since that day I have never been made to feel safe by this administration. I have felt confused, concerned, worried, angry, betrayed, abandoned, and disbelieving, but never have they made me feel safe. And now I know that I was right not to feel safe. These morons cannot keep any of us safe. As a matter of fact I am convinced that their actions put us in more danger then if they sat and did nothing at all.

We must, as soon as possible, get this president out of office. He is a danger to us all.

Bush attempting to blame Katrina devastation on Environmental groups. Environmental groups?

I love how these assholes deride others as playing the "blame game", and the whole time they are mobilizing their entire team to blame everybody they can think of to take the focus off of their own incompetence.

By the way, my understanding is that if some of the wetlands had been left intact the devastation might have been averted. Maybe we should put some environmentalists in charge of FEMA.

Bush Era Comes To An End!

The Bush Era is over. The sooner politicians in both parties realize that, the better for them -- and the country.
Recent months, and especially the past two weeks, have brought home to a steadily growing majority of Americans the truth that President Bush's government doesn't work. His policies are failing, his approach to leadership is detached and self-indulgent, his way of politics has produced a divided, angry and dysfunctional public square. We dare not go on like this.

Well that is some goddamn good news! I have been worried sick that this guy would fill the court with right wing nut-jobs and keep attacking other nations until we became an island surrounded by a hostile world.

So....when do they carry him out of office? What? He gets to stay? Oh no he doesn't! This thing will not be over until he is removed from office permanently and is banished to that faux ranch of his in Crawford. Then this will be over!

Until then......IMPEACH BUSH NOW!

David Letterman's Top Ten Questions for the FEMA Director Application

10. "Are you able to convey a false sense of security?"

9. "What percentage of your resume is fabricated?"

8. "In a crisis, which state or local officials would you blame?"

7. "What are your plans after you resign?"

6. "Do you mind if the last guy left the office smelling like Arabian horses?"

5. "Which is most serious: A disaster, a catastrophe, or a dis-astrophe?"

4. "Does Robert Blake dating again count as an emergency?"

3. "Can the president easily add '-ie' to your last name to form a nickname?"

2. "Can you screw up bad enough to take the heat off the president's mistakes?"

1. "Michael Brown...Idiot or moron?"

Bush policy from day one was to avoid responsibility!

On the September 11 edition of NBC's syndicated The Chris Matthews Show, New York Times columnist David Brooks revealed that he has learned from private conversations with Bush officials who "represent" what "Bush believes" that from its earliest days, the Bush administration adopted a policy of shielding itself from political damage by never publicly admitting any mistake -- even if it meant lying to the media and the American public. The fact that Bush doesn't admit mistakes has been reported by the media for years. For instance, in the September 11 edition of The New York Times, David Sanger reported, "Mr. Bush, his aides acknowledge, is loath to fire members of his administration or to take public actions that are tantamount to an admission of a major mistake." Brooks himself has previously noted the Bush administration's unwillingness to admit to mistakes. But what Brooks's September 11 account adds is that Bush is being intentionally dishonest -- in Brooks's words, "totally tactical and totally insincere" -- in resisting such public admissions and in blaming others when failures are too obvious to deny.

God this is the worst administration ever! They decided before they ever even made their first mistake that they were never going to admit it to the public. This makes me believe that they knew all along that they were going to fuck things up! I mean when I start a job I usually believe that I will make some small mistakes but that overall I am going do a great job.

If you knew that you were going to be a screw-up, then why take the job? This is not a job as a plumber. "Sorry lady I forgot to tighten that connection. My bad." This is President of the United States of America! There is no more important job in the world! George Bush had a moral obligation to not seek this responsibility if he knew going in that he was going to make devastating mistakes! He is the Goddamn devil!

More kids being home churched. God I love The Onion!

Home-churchers like Pottsville, AR's Othniel Beebe say that in an increasingly secularized world, "Home worship is the only safe worship."

"My kids don't have to understand everything in the Bible—I don't claim to," Beebe said. "But it ain't my place to question God's will. As long as my Caleb grows up understanding pestilence, sin, massacres, and to eternally fear the wrath of our Lord—and not this warm and fuzzy 'universal brotherhood' crap—then I've done right by Jesus."

Damn this is funny!

Bush asks Condi if he can go potty.

Okay now this is just sad.

School pledge deemed unconstitutional

You know for me this really is a no brainer.

Of course it is unconstitutional! If any institution requires that you say, what is essentially a patriotic prayer to the most popular god in the country, first thing in the morning, in front of your peer group, along with everybody who happens to be attending your government funded school, then it is obviously in conflict with the separation between church and state!

Duh!

And don't give me that bullshit about the separation between church and state not being in the constitution. Your right! It is not. It is in the first amendment to the Constitution.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Does that seem clear enough to everybody? Good!

Now on a personal note I can remember during my early years in school, after coming to understand that I was not amongst the believers, having to stand there, with my hand over my heart, and pay homage to a deity that I did not even believe in. That, my friends, causes an unreasonable sense of isolation. It is literally like being in a room where you speak a different language then everybody else. It sucks. And the idea that saying it every morning will wear somebody down until they run to the nearest church is ridiculous!

We live in a country where everybody may worship to whomever they wish, however they wish. It is not a country where, if you have the numbers, you can force people who do not usually worship your god pretend to worship him, or her, just so you can feel superior.

Republicans block forming a Katrina Commission. Nothing to see here, keep moving along now.

You know the rug that the Republicans keep sweeping all of their screw ups under must be huge!

I am so tired of these buttheads constantly attempting to block any investigation which might show them to be incompetent or that they simply were victims of human error.

Don't they know that when they do this shit it just makes them look all the more guilty?

"No listen, this time we know what we are talking about!" U.S. makes case against Iran.

With an hour-long slide show that blends satellite imagery with disquieting assumptions about Iran's nuclear energy program, Bush administration officials have been trying to convince allies that Tehran is on a fast track toward nuclear weapons.

The PowerPoint briefing, titled "A History of Concealment and Deception," has been presented to diplomats from more than a dozen countries. Several diplomats said the presentation, intended to win allies for increasing pressure on the Iranian government, dismisses ambiguities in the evidence about Iran's intentions and omits alternative explanations under debate among intelligence analysts.

I am beyond incredulous that this administration would try the same tactics to gain support to start another war!

Another war! The ADD president strikes again! Are there no grownups in this administration? Where are the level heads? Is it possible that everybody in this government believes that we are truly at the End of Days? It is really starting to appear that the focus of this administration is to destroy the earth!

How far along are we on that Impeachment thing?

Maureen Dowd asks "How many places will be in shambles by the time the Bush crew leaves office?"

President Bush continued to try to spin his own inaction yesterday, but he may finally have reached a patch of reality beyond spin. Now he's the one drowning, unable to rescue himself by patting small black children on the head during photo-ops and making scripted attempts to appear engaged. He can keep going back down there, as he will again on Thursday when he gives a televised speech to the nation, but he can never compensate for his tragic inattention during days when so many lives could have been saved.

Bill Maher had a great quote last Firday where he pointed out that Bush is the first American president to "lose an entire metropolis to rising water and snakes". Maureen's point is well taken that pretty much everything that Bush tries to improve he just makes worse.

Perhaps he is some Bizarro world version of King Midas, all of the gold he touches turns to shit.

Pat Robertson blames Ellen Degeneres for destruction of New Orleans.

“By choosing an avowed lesbian for this national event, these Hollywood elites have clearly invited God’s wrath,” Robertson said on “The 700 Club” on Sunday. “Is it any surprise that the Almighty chose to strike at Miss Degeneres’ hometown?”

“This is the second time in a row that God has invoked a disaster shortly before lesbian Ellen Degeneres hosted the Emmy Awards,” Robertson explained to his approximately one million viewers. “America is waiting for her to apologize for the death and destruction that her sexual deviance has brought onto this great nation.”

That Bitch! How dare she let these people die just so that she can have unnatural sex with some Hollywood floozy! Who is this Portia De Rossi trollop anyhow?

Oh! Never mind. Damn!

Those memorable Katrina quotes.

Some of these are sad, some are funny, and some are downright scary.

"I must say, this storm is much bigger than anyone expected." -- FEMA Director Michael Brown, on CNN, Aug. 31.

"Excuse me, senator, I'm sorry for interrupting . . . for the last four days, I've been seeing dead bodies in the streets here in Mississippi. And to listen to politicians thanking each other and complimenting each other, you know, I got to tell you, there are a lot of people out here who are very upset, and very angry, and very frustrated . . .
"And when they hear politicians . . . you know, thanking one another, it just . . . cuts them the wrong way right now, because literally there was a body in the streets of this town yesterday being eaten by rats because this woman had been laying in the streets for 48 hours . . ." -- CNN's Anderson Cooper, Sept. 1, in an awesome tirade directed at Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), who had been tossing compliments to fellow politicians and blowing bromides up the wazoo before Cooper cut her off.

For my money Anderson Cooper was the stand out reporter during all of this. He stayed professional even while faighting back his emotions.

"We just learned of the convention center -- we being the federal government -- today." -- FEMA Director Brown, trying to deflect criticism to local government, on "Nightline," Sept. 1.

"Don't you guys watch television? Don't you guys listen to the radio? Our reporters have been reporting on it for more than just today." -- Koppel's response.

That one just blows my mind.

Let's hear from the bumbler in chief.

"Brownie, you're doing a heckuva job." -- President Bush, Sept. 2. One of the most idiotic, misguided, clueless and smug things the president has said during his two terms in office.

"I'm satisfied with the response. I am not satisfied with the results." -- President Bush, later that day.

"Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott's house -- he's lost his entire house -- there's going to be a fantastic house. And I'm looking forward to sitting on the porch." -- President Bush, cracking wise in Mobile, Ala., Sept. 2. And maybe when he sits on that porch, one of those unemployed evacuees can bring him a nice iced tea and a fan. After all, they'll be looking for work.

This is why we should fear China.

Seriously I am very excited by this! I love Shaolin Kung fu and started studying it when I was very young. These guys are amazing and I really love seeing them take back their heritage.

So when China attacks us and subjugates our government I am just not going to be very much help. I just love China too much. Sorry.

Now if you will excuse me I am going to go make a bowl of chicken fried rice.

Great now we are going to get our ass kicked by Syria too!

This is what comes from having a President with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). The dumb son of a bitch keeps getting distracted by new shiny wars and does not sit down and finish the two that he has already started.

Throughout history we have always waged one war at time. It is a formula that has had some success. Why can't this adminstration understand that if driving and talking on the phone is dangerous then fighting multiple countries at the same time is suicidal!

There is a snowball fight in Hell today as Bush accepts responsibility for Katrina failures!

Wow! The man who never admits a mistake, sorta kinda takes responsibility.

You know I love how he keeps saying "I want to know what went right and what went wrong".

Nothing went right! Nothing! It was giant clusterfuck from the very beginning and there are still stories of FEMA's stumbles in the news today! My advice is to focus on what went wrong!

By the way I still have trouble believing that this president believes that he personally did anything wrong. My feeling is that his political handlers finally convinced him to show some sense of responsibility and so he did. It is really just more spin from the spinniest administration on record.

(Spinniest is my word and you have to pay me to use it.)

Brian Williams wakes up from coma and remembers what his job is supposed to be about!

NBC’s Brian Williams says the lasting legacy of Hurricane Katrina for journalists may be the end of an unusual four-year period of deference to people in power.

There were so many angry, even incredulous, questions put to Bush administration officials about the response to Katrina that the Salon Web site compiled a “Reporters Gone Wild” video clip. Tim Russert, Anderson Cooper, Ted Koppel and Shepard Smith were among the stars.

The mute button seemingly in place since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks has been turned off.

“By dint of the fact that our country was hit we’ve offered a preponderance of the benefit of the doubt over the past couple of years,” the “Nightly News” anchorman said. “Perhaps we’ve taken something off our fastball and perhaps this is the story that brings a healthy amount of cynicism back to a news media known for it.”

He was one of a few reporters stationed at the dome as it degenerated into a house of horrors, and used his cell phone to snap a picture of its damaged roof that was widely circulated on NBC and MSNBC.

“I can’t shake the belief that I got to know people who aren’t with us anymore,” he said.

Okay Brian now that you are with, us please do your job and take these bastards to task! No more media manipulation, no more refocusing the blame, no more refusing to answer our questions. If the media uniteadministrations administation then they will show them for who they really are, arrogant over privileged racists!

Evolution Schmevolution! If Jon Stewart were not married, and a guy, I would like so marry him.

Look! Isn't he handsome!

Okay enough fawning. If you did not watch last nights show about the ongoing debate over teaching evolution in the classroom, then you need to give yourself a brutal spanking! (not your usual light playful one either!)

But fear not for there is more tonight, and all this week. It is sooo good!

How I found faith.....in the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Finally! My long search for meaning has come to an end. All of my sleepless nights, lying there wondering if there was a God who loved me or if I was just terribly alone in a cold and desolate universe, are over. Because I have seen the Pasta! The scales have fallen from my eyes and I can now clearly see that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the one true god!

I am filled with a sense of wonder at his meatball-eyed magnificence, at his pasta tendrils reaching right into my heart, at ability to slip saucily through the evening sky.

Oh faint grows my heart at my new comraderie with my fellow Pastafarians. Soon there will be little Houses of worship and fine Italian cuisine in every town in America. But that will just be the beginning, soon our lords saucy visage will be known and celebrated throughout the world.

Oh glorious day!

FEMA Director Brown Resigns!

Well it is about fucking time! Of course you notice that Bush still lacks the leadership skills to actually fire his useless ass!

A look into America's future under George W. Bush.

Doctors who perform illegal abortions in Texas could be prosecuted for capital murder and face a death sentence under recent changes in Texas law that have resulted in apparent unintended consequences.

This is what it is all about for Bush and his cronies. I fear that, at this point, there is not much that anybody can do to stop it from happening. Two Supreme Court Justices are gone and Bush's agenda has become crystal clear to everybody who pays even nominal attention.

Weapons of Mass Deception.

I caught some of this on IFC. It did a pretty good job of unveiling most of the subterfuge that the Bush administration used to make the case for war. Makes me ill when I see it all presented at one time like that.

Heartbreaking story of doctor who would not allow her patients to die in agony in New Orleans

"Those who had no chance of making it were given a lot of morphine and lain down in a dark place to die."

The doctor said: "I didn't know if I was doing the right thing. But I did not have time. I had to make snap decisions, under the most appalling circumstances, and I did what I thought was right.

"I injected morphine into those patients who were dying and in agony. If the first dose was not enough, I gave a double dose. And at night I prayed to God to have mercy on my soul."

These are the kind of choices that nobody should have to make. And if this were my father or grandmother who were left to die alone in the dark I would make it my lifes work to make sure that the people responsible paid, and paid dearly.

Newsweek writes an article about Bush that scares the shit out of me!

Bush can be petulant about dissent; he equates disagreement with disloyalty. After five years in office, he is surrounded largely by people who agree with him. Bush can ask tough questions, but it's mostly a one-way street. Most presidents keep a devil's advocate around. Lyndon Johnson had George Ball on Vietnam; President Ronald Reagan and Bush's father, George H.W. Bush, grudgingly listened to the arguments of Budget Director Richard Darman, who told them what they didn't wish to hear: that they would have to raise taxes. When Hurricane Katrina struck, it appears there was no one to tell President Bush the plain truth: that the state and local governments had been overwhelmed, that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was not up to the job and that the military, the only institution with the resources to cope, couldn't act without a declaration from the president overriding all other authority.

Just when I think that I have learned the worst possible news concerning this president I then learn something that makes everything else seem quaint by comparison.

How is it possible that this asshole was not glued to the television like every other American in the country? I cried and cried and wished there was something, anything, that I could do to help those poor people!

This moron could have saved thousands of lives with a fucking phonecall! A phonecall! Pathetic excuse for a president!

Do not let Bush near the Goddamn Nukes!

The Pentagon has drafted a revised doctrine for the use of nuclear weapons that envisions commanders requesting presidential approval to use them to preempt an attack by a nation or a terrorist group using weapons of mass destruction. The draft also includes the option of using nuclear arms to destroy known enemy stockpiles of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons.

Has the Pentagon lost it's fucking mind? Have they learned nothing from the unbelievably stupid decisions coming out of this administration?

Now it is even more important to get Bush impeached as soon as humanly possible. Can you imagine the shit storm that will result if this lunatic is allowed to shoot nukes at Iran?

Saturday, September 10, 2005

The U.S. Military is desperately trying to keep 13 Gitmo prisoners alive after 4 weeks on hunger strike.

Damn, when it rains it poors. The Iraq war has lost almost all of its support here at home, Katrina revealed just how badly Bush screwed up our homeland security, and now these prisoners are going to remind everybody that we are holding them without access to due process. How many nails does the Administration coffin hold?

I can't help but believe that any one of these would have buried a Democratic president. It is like Bush is the walking dead! he is now "Zombie Bush"!
