Republicans hire Obama impersonator to belittle the President, only to escort him off stage when he turns on them.
Courtesy of Sarah Jones over at Politicususa:
Video surfaced today of the Republicans kicking Reggie Brown, their Obama impersonator, off the stage at the Republican Leadership Conference after he made fun of their candidates. I confess that I’ve been struggling to understand what passes for Republican humor ever since we found out that they think Colbert is a conservative and tried to claim “Obama Waffles” “Barack the Magic Negro” and “Watermelon White House” were “satire”.
I’m still befuddled after watching this video, because they were gettin’ a good laugh on as Reggie mocked Obama’s race and birthplace but they got all button down upset when Reggie went for the Obamneycare.
See, it’s rip roarin’ funny when the impersonator goes after Obama, talks about race endlessly, and equates Obama with the Kardashians. I’d grade this sort of low level base humor on par with what I expected from my nephew when he was in Junior High, but I’ll note that even my small town nephew with a big heart got the cruelty of such jokes by the time he reached the ripe age of 13. Happiest laughter at Anthony Weiner jokes — this coming from a party chock full of elected officials who have committed actual sex crimes and remain in office, self-awareness clearly not in evidence in New Orleans this night.
When do they get offended? When the humor is directed at their candidates, of course.
At has been pointed out repeatedly that the Republicans just don't get humor. So they hire a rather juvenile comedian because he sounds like Obama and often mocks him in his act, but have no idea that this guy makes jokes that also target their own candidates.
When they realize that his jokes have more than just a grain of truth in them about the GOP field they quickly have him escorted offstage by an old white guy.
Of course having Obama pushed off stage by an old white guy is EXACTLY the kind of wet dream that most of the GOP have every night anyway.

Watching this vid, I was quite impressed with Brown's ability to lob softball jibes in Obama's direction to the delight of the GOPers but at the same time, mocking Repubs without them realizing they were being satirized. They didn't like his hit on Newt but they boiled over when he dared to slight their favorite bitch Bachmann. I honestly think Reggie went in there with the thought to insult those people before they realized they were being had. He did good.
ReplyDeleteSo where is that famed Repugnant sense of humor now?
ReplyDeleteIf these folks actually get back into power there will be no real comedy allowed that is funnier than what Romney of Pawlenty can comprehend.
Sarah Palin Movie Maker Wants You to Love Her Like He Does
ReplyDeleteThe final 10 minutes of the film are spent comparing Sarah Palin to Ronald Reagan. People said that Reagan was too extreme, too conservative, and that he'd never be president -- and they were all wrong, according to The Undefeated. "Why do you think I did that?" Bannon asks.
For the power of the association, I tell him. So people will think the two politicians have similar qualities. He says the tea party movement is like the Reagan Revolution. I tell him I disagree. Palin is much more like Barry Goldwater, if anything. Goldwater supporters stormed the San Francisco Republican convention in '64, lots of them "never having been involved in politics before." Just like we hear about the tea party. There was also the belief among Goldwater supporters that if there was ever a true conservative, the large bloc of dormant true conservatives would turn out to vote for him. Goldwater's opponent, Lyndon Johnson, won in a historic landslide in the '64 election.
Bannon ponders this for a second and says Goldwater was Reagan's John the Baptist.
Why is the film called The Undefeated? Bannon feigns insult at the question. He declares he thought I was smarter than that. Basically, he starts busting my chops and it looks like he's filibustering. "I know she's lost elections! See her at the end of the film in Madison and it's like water off a duck. She's not down. She's undefeated."

Haha! That guy is pretty funny!
ReplyDeleteRepublicans are just mostly douchebags.
ReplyDeleteThe end part where he's escorted off-stage by the old, fat Republican guy is the worst part of the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I hate Republicans more and more every day.
Off topic:
ReplyDeleteSarah takes credit for starting the Tea Party movement in a fundraising letter for SarahPac:
"If you can’t send $100 today, will you consider sending whatever you can at this time to help Sarah continue the Tea Party Revolution she started with the 2010 mid-term elections?"
h/t Palingates
I wonder how the official tea party leaders--who claim not to be headed by any politician--feel about Sarah Palin claiming that she alone started the Tea Party Revolution.
Dear Granny (old person ) Paylin:
ReplyDeleteWe know you're reading this blog, and we know you are CHICKEN to declare your candidacy for Prez.
You'd have to:
Work really hard as a candidate
Give actual press conferences and interviews, instead of letting the panty sniffers at Fox lob you softball questions.
RElease financials and medical histories
And the BIGGEST reason you are scared and afraid to run for Prez?
YOU'D HAVE TO GIVE UP THE PAC MONEY AND WOULDN'T HAVE MILLIONS TO SPEND ON FAMILY VACATIONS HOMES IN ARIZONA.
I dare you to refute these statements. Go ahead Granny, make our day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So flip off back to your scorpion infested bad-titled house and sulk in the hot tub
They are the. Can dish it out. But can't take it crowd.
ReplyDeleteHow immature of them. Not surprising.
$arah is grifting again, she is asking for $100 or more. She must need another house or needs to pay Bristol off to keep her mouth shut.
ReplyDelete$arah begging is pathetic and she is buying homes and going on vacations with your money, hey bots, wake up you fools.
Hi8larious!
ReplyDeleteThey didn't know what his act entailed? Most comedians have a set act they work off of, though they may change it slightly depending on the audience and crowd reactions. So overboard to pull him off stage, a comedians ability lays in reading his audience,,,he was probably going easy on them to begin with.
Guess they're all as thin skinned asthe Wasilla witch and her followers. Once on a conservative website, I posted an unflattering drawing of Palin and this moron proceeded to call me tw*t, andI don't mean twit, a total of 27 times. I didn't even say a word, just a drawing, showing her having killed the statue of liberty with blood in the snow all around. Now there you go. That is them in a nutshell. Then later, they proceeded to threaten to kill me and my friends for supporting the president in the election. And these are all the same people that call themselves good Christians. How they compare themselves to Jesus Christ and say the follow Him is beyond me. They are the antithesis of everything He represented.
ReplyDeleteYou would think that this kind of thing would sink the GOP into the party of irrelevance, but I guess when their members are all mouth breathing idiots, they just don't get it.
ReplyDeleteSo Granny LuLu doesn't want to give credit to Rick Santelli? I guess that fits, though. Next, she'll be telling us that she organized the original Boston tea party, when Paul Revere rang those bells to tell to British to start baking scones.
ReplyDeleteThey are such idiots, because they don't realize that each of their their own candidates is a much bigger joke than President Obama could ever be. I suspect that along with being able to dish it out, but not take it, they are also allergic to the truth about their candidates.
ReplyDeleteI steeled myself up for some really terrible racist jokes, but found the guy pretty funny, and not that off base in terms of what is and isn't good comedy.
ReplyDeleteTo blow my own horn, I think that's how a well-adjusted person reacts to humor--even when its at the expense of someone you support.
To see him get the big hook off the stage, once he shifts to making barbs about Republicans, just shows how UNadjusted and juvenile the crowd was.
They were in NOLA, Diaper David Vitter's happy hunting ground. Maybe he was going to introduce them to some of his "friends"?
ReplyDeleteMr. Brown did a good job of impersonating President Obama, and handled his forced exit gracefully.
ReplyDeleteI thought his jokes were pretty tame, but I guess Republicans just can't take a little ribbing.
The reigning King is still Stephen Colbert and his brilliant roast of everybody in the room at the 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner, but props to Mr. Brown for walking into the lion's den and tweaking the noses of those humorless bastards.
Was Herman Cain laughing?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI think Brown's performance (and hasty removal)and the interview of Jon Stewart by Chris Wallace show what we all know about Republicans: they have absolutely no sense of humour. Even Dennis Miller, who calls himself a comedian and conservative is merely a sarcastic flame thrower. I thought the Obama impersonation was great and the jokes were funny - even the ones at Obama's expense.
ReplyDeleteGuess no one remembers the Vaughn Meeder smash hit album mocking the Kennedys. Almost every Democrat I knew of had a copy and we played ours until it wore out. People with a healthy self-esteem can take a joke and even laugh at their own foibles. Has anyone ever seen Sarah laugh about anything other than in bitterness?
And I agree: Stephen Colbert's remarks at the 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner were brilliant. Notice how the press corps got its knickers all in a twist and never invited him back.
I must admit, I find it extremely childish of adults to feel the need to make fun of anyone. Not to mention disrespectful when making fun of our President, whether one voted for him or not. Where's the respect? We teach our children to respect adults, but yet they hear the adults around them making what not only borders on racist, but actually is racist, and/or sexist remarks about our Nation's leaders.
ReplyDeleteMy personal belief is that adults should stick to politics when speaking of "the Others," not their race, gender, etc. To me, that simply lowers everyone down to the bottom of the humor barrel.
And yes, I understand that there are some who just beg to be made fun of, but all it seems to do is turn politics into a mud-slinging free for all, which in the end doesn't solve the problems this country is facing.
*stepping off soapbox*
@9:22 thank you and amen. i was hoping someone would give honorable mention to the brilliant steven colbert's stunning roast in '06. i wouldn't be at all surprised to find that he was brown's inspiration for this particular subversion.
ReplyDeleteThis simply disgusts me! The hypocrisy of the current Republican party is monumental....
ReplyDeleteI'ld hate them but I don't believe in inviting or investing in such dark energy.
It takes some humility and real smarts to "get it". Democrat attack satire, they "get", but when the shoe is on the other foot, it's time to unplug the mike and censor the comedian because they can dish it out but can't take it.
ReplyDeleteCompare McCain singing "bomb bomb bomb bomb iran" to this and you'll get my point.
I need to rinse out my mind with soap & water.....especially pondering Vitter shitting into a diaper, then getting cleaned up by a prostitute.... How does he claim the gall..?
ReplyDeleteIf I had money to invest for my retirement, would I give it to Obama or Romney to invest? That's what we're facing.
