Franklin Graham arrogantly implies that Obama is not a true Christian while embarrassing himself and his faith on Morning Joe.

We live in a country that declares in its Constitution, Article VI paragraph 3, that there will be, "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States," and yet no President has ever been elected to office who did not declare that he was a Christian.

And now that there is a black man in the White House, even THAT is not good enough. Now the President has to be the "right kind" of Christian.

At least according to this monstrous douchebag Franklin Graham.

Graham also expresses displeasure with the Arab Spring sweeping across the Middle East because collaterally Christians have been killed and terrorized, despite the fact that this was the will of the people and in many cases they had suffered great hardship and even death at the hands of those they had now overthrown. But to Graham that really does not count because to him a Christian life is worth far more than the life of a Muslim.

It is beyond clear that Franklin Graham has NO interest in a Democratic America, and clearly supports a theocracy, which I also believe is the underlying desire of Rick Santorum as well.

As if these arrogant pricks have any right to tell people how to live, love, and raise their families.

Thankfully John Heilemann is on this panel to call Franklin Graham out on the double standard that he applies to certain politicians, giving Rick Santorum a pass, and doing everything but calling President Obama and Mitt Romney pagans.

This interview completely pissed me of, and I found myself yelling back at Graham, and wanting to tell this hypocritical bastard just what I think of his religious litmus test and desire to impose HIS definition of morality on the American people.

If Joe and Mika were there today, there would have been no push back to Franklin's nonsense.

Franklin loves the Palin's.. out of wedlock kids, never going to church... what he would call "real Christians".

Franklin Graham is a friend of Sarah Palin's! Are we surprised? The guy, as well as Palin, do not act as 'christians' that is for sure. I'll bet his Dad would be embarrassed by him and his statements! What a jerk!!!

I'm glad they actually called him on his statement on TV. Yea!!! More and more of this needs to be done.

I wish I could see all of their faces when President Obama is reelected. The Republican party is screwing themselves so badly!
Most Americans across the nation do not agree w/their take on religion (what happened to the separation of church and state?) or contraception and abortion. Thank God!!!!

I so appreciate coming to this blog everyday and finding the news that you dig up. - How do you keep your sanity? - Thank you for the dedication and hard work. I have a business blog and know what kind of commitment goes into this effort.

The arrogance of Graham and his crowd is everything that Jesus fought against. "False shepherds" is a kind understatement for these people.

Having posted the link to the segment in your previous blog, I have to say -- I found the segment far better than anything when Joe & Mika are there. I cheered when Heilemann called him out. The others took him on too like Willie. When Joe & Mika are there, they really don't. Like their Joe's lapdogs.

Joe and Mika are two fucking lapdogs to their guests -- they suck the toes of everyone that appears on their show. Time for MSNBC to fire both of the whores. Joe for his ignorance and arrogance of overspeak and only 'his spew is right' - Mika for being the stunned bitch sitting there and being walked all over. For anyone that refers to her as being a good model for women -- needs their head examined. Her book -- total fucking bullshit. As long as Donny drops her mega $$ shoes on her -- she's happy to be a doormat and her mug on TV. I'm sure she gets other perks too (wink, wink).

And this moron is now spewing in his stump speeches about the 'death panels' that came to life by you know who in the healthcare period. I think we know who the true 'Murderer' is.

When asked, he has avoided answering questions about this topic as they have been nailed by DOJ for millions re medicaid fraud, bribery of doctors, etc.

Settle down and step back for a bit. The unfortunate fact is that this kristyun pig hater has an audience to speak his trash to. In fact he has the majority of the people in your country who sympathize with his sky fairy nonsense. And here's what's important to you. He is your fucking enemy and you need to be his enemy. You must come to the point where you unequivocally condemn this religious haters every time they try to pass off their bullshit and hate here on your blog. Because, they are the majority and will continue to be as long as decent people abide with their trash talk.

So the choice is yours, you can be faithful to the truth which you believe is right or you can dance with the kristyuns in order to keep your numbers up.

You as an atheist are not alone. It's up to each and every one of us to fight back in the same ugly ruthless manner that they are fighting against us.

We are on the side of right and good. They are on the side of just more hate and exclusion of all who won't pay their taxes of submission.

Stop what you're doing now and smarten the fuck up. That's how you will eventually find the satisfaction in knowing that you have done good and right for humanity.
Luv from Canada where we are now in the majority.

Graham rode his father's coat tails into religious wealth. Just as the Bush sons latched onto their grandfather, then father into the family "bidness" of politics. When you do that, you do not have to be good at what you do, just make sure everyone is aware of the relationship. Surely Graham could afford a beter hairpiece than that? Does he go to $carah's hair salon? Incidentally, I doubt that God would look favorably on a man who pretends to help the poor, while flying all over in a private jet.

Santorum - In a December 1995 Philadelphia Magazine article -- which the Huffington Post pulled from Temple University archives -- Santorum conceded that he "was basically pro-choice all my life, until I ran for Congress... But it had never been something I thought about." Asked why he changed his mind, he said that he "sat down and read the literature. Scientific literature," only to correct himself and note that religion was a part of it too.

When Reverend Wright's combative sermons were run on a continuous loop for weeks on TV, Senator Obama sure as hell was considered a Christian by the wingnuts. But once that uppity Black guy got elected President he suddenly turned into something else. A follower of Islam and all the dark and evil things that come with that religion. These a-holes are so transparent it makes me gag. I'd rather the President worshiped snake charmers than be a part of their so called religion.

Wow. Franklin Graham was not making a rational argument at all. He says he believes a person is a christian by their walk, and thinks Santorum walks the walk, probably because Rick's stand against abortion.

And, Franklin believes NEWT is a christian, based on his walk. They ask what about his 3 wives, and the answer is well, he told me he is and he goes to church.

But, Franklin reserves his belief on Mitt and President Obama, with Mitt being the Mormon, and President Obama not telling Franklin that he went to church because as community organizer, he was expected to join a church, therefore President Obama, even though he is a good family man and goes to church every Sunday, doesn't convince Franklin that he's a christian yet.

That man is shameful. As a christian myself, I can't believe what I just heard him say. It makes me almost want to weep.

Franklin showed his true colors. He is trying to form an alliance of churches with the Roman Catholics, Mormons not included, and place his 'man' in the White House that will proclaim himself as the protector of this alliance.

Mr. Graham says his job is to find out who is christian so that he can endorse his favorite political candidates. Does he think this is what he's called for? He hasn't a clue as to what a shepherd's job is then. Any man of the cloth who teaches that the church must elect "their" leader and involve himself with the affairs of State is falling into that same trap that the traditional churches of Europe did. Then people would lose their voice, lose their rights, and the country would be ruled by iron-fisted religious zealots.

I have faith that believer, both protestant and catholic, can see through this charade.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney Responds To Franklin Graham’s Morning Joe Comments

...Asked if the President had any reaction to Graham’s remarks, Carney responded, “He firmly believes that getting an extra $40 in every paycheck is of vastly greater significance to most Americans than someone’s opinion, expressed on cable television, about his personal faith, which again, he has spoken about explicitly as recently as a few weeks ago, at the National Prayer Service.”

Now, this “controversy will feed the gaping maws of the hydra-headed media beast. The mainstream media will soberly recount the he said, she said about President Obama’s religion (and decide that he is a Christian), liberals will be rightly outraged at Graham’s presumptuousness (and perhaps at the fact that any news show bothers to book Rev. Graham; why not get Bobby Flay to talk foreign policy?), and conservatives will alternately amplify Graham’s claims, and decry how he’s making them all look bad.

In other words, a good time will be had by all.

What this illustrates is the blinding ignorance of the so called religious right. This man is a con artist. Religion, like the kind being professed by the Republican these days, is an abomination. There is not a day goes by when I am thankful that I live in Canada. At least atheists make an INFORMED decision unlike goose stepping "believers".

As for Santorum and his looney tune rants about how pre-natal screening leads to abortion - BULLSHIT. My best friend's first child had a birth defect involving his feet and the pre-natal screening allowed for the paediatric orthopaedist to be ready to examine him the day after his birth and make plans for remedial treatment.

Why doesn't somebody ask Mr. Graham what his salaries are let alone the non-taxable worth of his Christian Company Churches?

"Trinity Christian Center, a nonprofit in the eyes of Uncle Sam, does not have to pay taxes on its income. It reported revenues of $175.6 million, expenses of $193.7 million, and net assets of $827.6 million at the end of 2010, according to its tax returns.

Here’s a moment in recent history that you’ll be hearing a lot about this week: In a 2008 speech given at Ave Maria University (a Catholic institution), current presidential hopeful Rick Santorum warned those gathered that “Satan has his sights on the United States of America.”

“This is not a political war at all. This is not a cultural war at all. This is a spiritual war,” he said, describing how American institutions and our nation’s way of life are falling to evil forces. “And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies, Satan, would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country – the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age?”

Santorum went on to recount how Satan had more trouble corrupting the United States when the country was first founded, because our foundation was (and still is) very strong. But time, he added, corrodes “even the strongest of foundations.” So Satan soldiers on, using “pride, vanity and sensuality” to attack American institutions. Vanity, for instance, was instrumental in attacking those in academia, in institution meant to educate “the elites.”

Even other religions, he added, are not exempt from Satan’s grasp. “We look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country,” he said, “and it is in shambles. It is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it.”

The NBA, rock concerts and movie screens all exhibit, he continued, the decay of American decency.

    Raising Satan against Santorum

...Per ABC News, the full quotes came in a speech in which Santorum said that the issue of denying communion to politicians supporting abortion rights related to a "spiritual war:"

“While we all see all this as a great political conflict in warfare between the Obama camp and the McCain camp and culture wars, what Bishop Aquila put his finger on and what I think, I suspect those of you who are here understand, this is not a political war at all. This is not a cultural war. This is a spiritual war,” Santorum said.

“And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country, the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age. There is no one else to go after other than the United States and that has been the case now for almost 200 years, once America’s preeminence was sown by our great Founding Fathers.”

The level of stupidity coming out of the mouths of GOP supporters has lost its ability to amaze - the level of intelligence is coming down to meet that of Sarah Palin.

The majority of us stay with the religion of our birth (or become atheists). Like the color of our skin, it is not something easily changed. My view of those who do change (within the bounds of Christian sects) - it is usually for non religious reasons - partners and/or money being the main reason.

So Satan soldiers on, using “pride, vanity and sensuality” to attack American institutions.

I don't think it's an oversight that he left out GREED.

Altho I don't agree with Graham or his ilk - he did keep saying "ask the president" (he cannot read what is in another persons heart) and pointed out Obama has said he is a Christian. More than what Santorum did when one of his voters said Obama is a Muslim.

Another point that came up (& no I didn't listen to all of it) is Santorum saying Obama has a different "Theocracy" over the weekend. I'll give Santorum benefit of the doubt he MEANT Philosophy. To me - that is one of the credits I give to Obama - he wasn't raised on Lake Ave. in Chicago or Hampton beach front property, he lived in other countries, other cultures / religions, - he experienced life outside the US. So, of course, his "world view" is going to be different than someone who only vacationed in the Rosa Zones in another country.

Another, highly visible plus (IMHO) for Obama was being raised by a hard working educated loving mother & grandparents. Obviously, Santorum was not and his beliefs reflect his low opinion & lack of respect of women.

  72. Not caught up on comments, so someone may have mentioned already...

But I found it ironic and absurd that, near the end there, he says several times, "well this is my business"..just like you guys read the newspapers, dont you??

BUSINESS is right - as in, income, and profit margin.

    Damn this charlatan !!!

Finally - Tamron Hall on MSNBC interviewed a Doctor from Univ. Hospitals Case Medical Center, Cleveland, OH, a leading neo-natal facility on to debunk Santorum's rhetoric about prenatal care. Dr. Greenfield was excellent in the interview!!

Franklin Graham must now submit his long form certificate of christianess AND prove he has not lapsed since it was issued. Signature by Jesus Christ himself is the preferred document but Franklin Graham probably thinks all he needs is a note from his daddy.

When the good lord was handing out genes for logic, Franklin Graham was in the other line getting the gene for grifting.

Michael Steele told Graham that he'd been speaking to "young folks" (I'm assuming young Republicans) who were concerned about politicians focusing on religion. Of course, Graham turned it around - completely ignoring the actual import of the question - and brought up the HHS birth control controversy. Too bad nobody called him on that.

Palin, Graham, Santorum, etc. are the same as the religious Pharisees Jesus kicked out of the temple for fleecing the people. It's all about money and power for them and if Jesus himself told them he supported universal healthcare these "Christians" would crucify him again. The problem is not true Christianity. The problem is extremists bastardizing it for their own ends.

To all of my fellow Christians who are also saddened by this, read Psalms 37 and also visit www.sojo.net. There are many Christian progressives out there who get it right. And to the atheists, including Gryphen, there is a big difference between the life, character and teachings of Jesus and the cruel lies these wolves in sheeps clothing have been spouting. Obama 2012!

  78. Always remember, the average person is of average intelligence, and intellectual bullshit will always flow downstream until it finds an average home.

Also and too, who the fuck cares what this useless asshole says. fuck him and the horse he rode in on. he's a mindless eunuch followed by even lesser schmucks.

Gryphen, I've also been yelling at the TV news a lot lately, especially when that idiot Santorum is spewing his assholery. Also flipping him "the bird" as we used to say. Yes, juvenile, I know, but oh, so satisfying.

Franklin Graham is not his father's Oldsmobile. You would never hear this sort of horsepockey emanating from Billy Graham's mouth, and Graham himself often found himself confounded by the tricky shoals of politics. But he responded and recanted or reclarified in honest fashion.

As a Christian, it feeds my heart to the brim to read all of the comments on this blog because I feel them to be spot on. And yes, even when Gryph goes postal on the Christians, his basis is much the same as Jesus's. (You won't mind me saying that, will you Gryph?) The hypocrisy, the posing, the manipulation to serve human, financial, political and social power by means religious. It's disgusting.

It's disgusting enough if you are an atheist. Believe me, it hurts double if you are a Christian, or any other person of faith.

Just sayin' - you don't have to believe in Christ to at least ponder this notion - this was the exact message this guy dedicated his whole life and death to exposing, trying to lift and empower the human spirit beyond such political, financial and self serving garbage.

It seems the Pharisees will ever be among us. They do not go quietly into this good night.

It wasn't too long ago that Frank said that he preferred Trump to be the GOP candidate.

I wonder who arranged Frank's appearance on MSNBC. The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for the President of Sudan charging him with crimes against humanity, war crimes and the genocide of three groups of people. And NATO and Amnesty International support the ICC in its findings. But Frank was against the ICC issuing those warrants because he thought that the next guy in charge could be worse. Would it be appropriate for President Obama to call a fugitive?

Frank is stirring the pot again, trying to stir up more hatred among people with his cunning words.

"Yes, I'd like to offer some suspicious political activity by the head of a 501(c)3, which gives tax-exempt status to non-political charitable operations."

Alaskans remember when Franklin accompanied Sarah to a rural Alaskan village that was suffering from high price of heating oil and going without food to pay for heat. they brought cookies for the people, had a photo op, and left. Very Christian behavior towards those experiencing hardship!! Not to worry, Chavez gave the villages oil.

He's horrible, and if that's what Billy Graham produced, maybe he (Billy) isn't quite the sterling man I've always thought he was.

Franklin Graham, who jets around the world on a private plane and half a million dollar salary as the CEO of a "charity" has zero credibility to judge President Obama's commitment to a faith that, when authentically practiced, is based on grace, compassion, and HUMILITY.

Now Romney's being a DICK. Well a bigger one than usual. Jumping on the Graham bandwagon attacking Obama and religion. He better watch it, he IS Mormon and some people have some very strong ideas about the 'cult' that it is suggested to be. He's opening a huge can of worms that he's gonna drown in. He is disgraceful.

  90. I seem to remember that Franklin once rebelled and was involved in drugs, etc. Then he found Je$u$ and became a "Christian" leader, which includes a private jet and fly-bys to stricken areas for photo ops.

A little OT: a friend of mine has sent letters to friends asking for financial aid to help him go to Nicaragua in March to help a Christian group "build houses for the poor." Of course, these junkets only take place during the winter here in the north. I saw him recently in the local grocery store and he could not make eye contact when I asked him about his "working vacation." Was it something I said?
