Police arrested a self-described “sovereign citizen” accused of shooting at police and firefighters after setting fire to a trash bin in Dallas.
Emergency crews responded to the dumpster fire about 3 p.m. Monday, when the man opened fire on officers.
Police said the gunman, who was the subject of a missing persons report filed that afternoon, threatened a babysitter who retreated into a nearby home with an 8-year-old girl.
No one was wounded by the gunfire, which struck a fire engine in the area.
Police said the man, whose name has not been released, called 911 to say he was part of the anti-government sovereign citizen movement.
Investigators said the man apparently set the Dumpster fire and called in the missing persons report as part of a planned ambush on officers.
The man, who was armed with an AK-47 and wearing a towel or bandana around his head, set off a smoke bomb and shot off propane tanks during a brief SWAT standoff.
He surrendered to police and will be charged with seven counts of aggravated assault on a public servant.
Gee no wonder the sovereign citizen movement is perceived as the top terrorist threat in the country.
And trust me, this is just the beginning.
This man is a "loaded gun". He will never be rehabilitated. Better to have taken him out of the gene pool when they had the chance. "Sorry, loser, there is no surrender." If life is perceived as cheap as we are seeing in the reports of shootings and killings almost every day, then this POS's life is worthless

DeleteIf you haven't heard about it, a couple of sheriff's killed Rick Perry's uncle a few yrs ago when he shot at them. This is one case where it doesn't matter if you have money, or if you are white...this guy will be in prison for a long time.
This moron pulled this stunt close to where I live. What an idiot. He is only being held on a 350,000 bond. I think it should be higher. He could have easily killed someone, a total fruitcake.

Looks like prison will be his kingdom of sovereign citizenry. Those big guys in the adjacent cell, like "Meat" or "Crusher" will be his new recruits.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me that cops kill unarmed black men as a matter of protocol but the threatening white men waving guns on the street are talked down and given bail. Something happening here ain't exactly clear.

Starting a fire in a dumpster during a drought isn't a smart idea, neither are firing propane tanks and shooting at public servants and their equipment to get attention. It's gotta get worse, these idiots stay up all night "brainstorming" new ways to cause trouble.
