Here is SNL's cold open from last night mocking Sarah Palin and featuring the amazing Tina Fey.

Okay that was awesome!

And you know the truly frightening thing is that if you close your eyes Fey sounds almost EXACTLY like Palin. Except when you look at her she is so much better looking.

Speaking of Palin, and you know she wants us to, Maureen Dowd had a rather interesting article published in the New York Times which explains how Palin has liberated people who are now allowed to openly criticize her without being called "sexist."

Here is a taste of what she wrote:

But when Palin turned out to be utterly unqualified and unintelligible, spouting her own special Yoda-like language, it did not reflect poorly on women as a whole — only on her and John McCain. What the hell were you thinking, Senator?

Ordinarily, it’s considered sexist to call a woman shrill. But Palin liberated us on that score. She really is shrill.

Ordinarily, it’s dicey to focus on what a woman in politics is wearing. But again, Palin has freed us up. She sported a cardigan so gaudy and rogue at her Iowa endorsement of Donald Trump (the man who viciously mocked her former running mate’s war record) that we would be remiss not to mention that it was the sartorial reflection of Palin and Trump themselves.

Ordinarily, you have to tread gingerly in critiquing a working woman on her mothering skills. But Palin’s brawling brood runs so wild around the state she once governed, in a way that is so contrary to her evangelistic, sanctimonious homilies on family values, that it seems only Christian to advise her to study the Obamas to see what exceptional parenting looks like.

I LOVE that last line.

Boy I remember back to the days when damage con-trolls rushed over here to call me a sexist and a misogynist.

I guess I have Sarah Palin to thank for forever undermining their attack strategies.

Yeah, I'm not going to say thank you.

Glad you are ok dear Jesse.... you've had your finger on the pulse of Alaskan politics and have educated us for many years now. BUT, friend, you are truly missing what is happening in the Democratic primary race. Bernie was embraced by thousands even in Alabama... yup, did you see that... move past your fears...watch his interviews on the major networks in the last few weeks... did you see him on Morning Joe? I know you did... They are taking him very seriously... It's time for a new way Jesse... it's time to raise the bar and open our awareness to a different way of being...with each other and in the body politic... it's called HEALING dear Jesse...

      @8:06 AM,

I saw pictures from Bernie Sanders' rally in Birmingham, Alabama. He was embraced by thousands of white people, in a city that is 73.4% black, and only 22.3% white. With the exception of a few minorities standing behind him on stage, there was hardly a black, or brown face in the crowd. That's not a good sign for Bernie Sanders. Minorities aren't "feeling the Bern," which is one of the reasons why Bernie Sanders isn't going to win the nomination.

Morning Joe is just an example, there are skeletons in many closets...

As for the issue of race and Sanders, yes, this is an important question, but not a deal breaker because Sanders is FOR the working class and the middle class and the poor and in our nation, a disproportionate amount of people of color ain't rich... Sanders will need to expand his outreach though...

I don't know who will win the nomination or even what will happen with the election itself because it is clear that we are on uncharted territory.

That is makes sociopaths so dangerous. They are able to gain trust and manipulate people and things in ways that their actions will do the most damage in the end.

Compulsive lying is not normal and is usually one of the first indications that one is a sociopath.

Carl Cannon of Real Clear Politics wrote the following in a piece where he, himself says of Palin, "Yes, she’s an inviting target: vain, ill-informed, always handy with a malapropism or goofy historical reference. She’s fond of quoting Ronald Reagan, for instance, even while advocating policies that would have appalled the secular saint of modern conservatism."

"Yet, Palin’s many flaws were partially obscured, at least for me, by the nasty news coverage of her. I don’t mean Tina Fey, whose famous sendup of Palin was hilarious, and not altogether unsympathetic. I’m referencing my fellow political writers who couldn’t stopping mocking Palin when she burst onto the national stage in 2008. The admonition against cheering in the press box doesn’t necessarily mean that booing in the press gallery is never warranted. But with Sarah Palin we went overboard. We chose sides."

So Cannon who is dissing $arahcude says her downfall was because the media (Cannon) wrote disparaging things about her unfairly.

    Okie Dokie then.

All that Tina had to do was repeat exactly what Sarah said, disjointed sentences that did not answer the question and that didn't make any sense. It makes Sarah look ridiculous.

This is exactly how she sounds after a couple of drinks. So, what's Sarah's drink of choice? Does she take anything else to sound like a run away train that has jumped its tracks? Doesn't she hear how awful she sounds when she screeches or is that a style that she developed to play to her fans?

If you saw the comment I posted the night before she made the ptsd statement, I had posted she was going to make an announcement that she would blame ptsd for his actions and then disown him. Now she might have been talking out her bony ass when she said that about disowning him but I think she really might cut ties with him for awhile because she feels like he "did this to her". I'm a veteran and I didn't think it was a big deal, as in not a deal breaker.

Not that Trump and company aren't fools, but I don't think it was intentional.

Since so few people are military oriented these days thanks to the volunteer forces, his people probably didn't realize they weren't US military.

Just grabbed some good looking footage from the footage suppliers and slapped it in.

Regrettable, non-professional, and sloppy on their part and on the firm that created it, but not a deal breaker.

They took it down and removed the mistake as soon as it was pointed out.

10:02 I don't think it's that they don't care so much as they just don't know. Which could be interpreted to mean they don't care.

Hello. Maybe they should have had their on-staff military advisers review the ad before it aired.

But I don't think it was an intentional slam at the military.

But it IS a BIG indicator of how little Trump and his team know about the current US military. Which says more to me than that they made the mistake.

(Did anyone see, read or hear an apology? Didn't think so. Oh, those crickets in the dead of winter are so loud by their absence.)

    4. AKRNHSNC3:50 AM

As a veteran, doesn't it infuriate you when Trump talks about making our military strong again? As if they are not to be admired as they are now? This is the same idiot who said he was going to give a speech on foreign policy on the USS Iowa to help a group that gave aid to thousands of veterans? Remember that the so called "group" turned out to be one guy who was likely pocketing the cash as he hadn't given any donations to veterans prior to this? This was a great example of how little Trump cares about what's really going on in his campaign, to make a mistake like that, not vetting the so-called group PRIOR to the speech that wasn't?

I don't know any veterans who are happy with Trump. In fact, I don't personally know anyone who likes him. Thankfully, our friends have better sense than those who follow Trump.

Trump's latest fiasco was his spokesman calling President Obama a half-breed and Trump retweeting a group that posted a pic of Bernie Sanders in a gas chamber! But will we ever hear him say he made a mistake? Of course not. It's just one of the many reasons why he should never be President.

I am so glad Tina Fey came roaring back, even though she said she was done with Palin, because surely Palin was done. You should have stayed down, Sarah!

Palin had the opportunity to learn about makeup and clothes when she was the VP nominee and had professionals doing it for her. She rejected their expertise and just went back to doing it her way afterwards.

Palin is such a dumbbell, she doesn't even understand how stupid she is. She knows better than anyone about everything.

Fey deserves an Emmy for that alone. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

I'm not so sure Trump regrets this, because I think the man is incapable of reflection and self-criticism. Everything he does is, by his definition, exactly the right thing to do. Given his massive insecurities, how can he engage in regrets?

You're correct that he can't afford any self-criticism or reflection, so he separates his self from his business persona. That way the bankruptcies don't affect him personally--it's strictly business.

Same thing with Palin. His ego would never allow him to admit being duped by her re: the endorsement. His business persona would have no problem cutting her loose for damaging his brand.

A new video of a teenaged Ted Cruz, posted Saturday on YouTube, shows a lankier and younger version of the future Republican presidential candidate sarcastically talking about his life’s goals —and they’re far more ambitious than the mere presidency. "Take over the world, world domination, you know, rule everything. Rich, powerful, that sort of stuff,” Cruz says

Live by the gun, die by the gun

We keep hearing that “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.” But arguments and shoving matches can not turn into full-fledged shootouts unless there are guns around for angry people to get their hands on.

The right wing will tell you that fathers and sons bonding over guns is an “American tradition.”

Few other details are available, though, as authorities continue to investigate what happened inside McLemore Gun Shop on Mississippi 43 in the Henleyfield community.

Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said the store owner's wife was working on the shop Saturday afternoon when a man and his son entered to pick up a firearm that had been repaired. Their was an argument about a $25 fee, Tucker said.

The woman called her husband, who arrived with their son, Tucker said.

It’s a bromance for the ages. One that may go down in history. Glenn Beck, while on the campaign trail in Iowa with Ted Cruz, formally endorsed the Republican candidate. However, that’s not even the half of it.

For most of the day, Beck was sending out these cryptic love notes regarding his feelings towards Cruz. Even going so far as to imply that Cruz is the next George Washington. Althoug, George Washington was actually born in the United States, we can’t say as much for Cruz.

The tweets really need to be put into letter form, so that’s exactly what I’ll do for you here:

“This election is about more than someone who understands your anger; it is about those who can stand shoulder to shoulder with you. I used to worry folks would vote party over principle. This year is worse – it’s paparazzi over principle. I need more than someone to vice my anger – I need someone to have my back. The George Washington we need will not be found in the garish light of gold. Do we really want another 8 years of a president who views his role as a Benevolent Dictator? The president does not create jobs. He helps create the conditions in which WE THE PEOPLE create jobs and change lives.

I have prayed for the next George Washington – I believe I have found him. The presidency is not just a man, it is principles. That’s why I stand with Ted Cruz. Our children deserve hope of a better tomorrow than our yesterdays; they deserve Ted Cruz. I am officially endorsing Ted Cruz to become the first Hispanic president!

Connect with truth. Connect with freedom. Connect with Cruz.

No, one man makes America great. But each of us as individuals, living our own lives, believing in our own strengths. That makes the USA great.”

Well, actually Beck, you’ve made it pretty darn clear that you believe Ted Cruz is going to be your one and only in making the nation what you want it to be. While your passion for Cruz can be admired, your facts regarding your beloved candidate aren’t quite accurate. Ted Cruz is no George Washington. Not even close. However, keep believing in your heart of hearts that Cruz is the man of your campaign dreams. If it’s something you can hold close, do it. It may be all you have this election season.

Here’s the full series of tweets with a few jabs thrown at Trump and Hillary Clinton as well:

Tina Fey is brilliant, sounded and looked like Sarah.

After the laughs though, we realize that behind the real Sarah it's not so funny. People who really know her must be upset by how media spins her as a harmless airy bobble-head.

Media does not try to find out the dangerous element of "Palin". They either don't believe she's dangerous, or don't believe she's capable of endangering the country. That attitude could cost everyone, and not just politically, but the innocent children back home, who are at the mercy of a dangerous woman and her entourage. What kind of home life do these kids live, if they witness the provocative angry jealous judgmental hateful persona of the Palins?

It's funny until it's not funny, because innocent children are victims, imprisoned and having no way out.

One could argue this is like shooting the proverbial fish in the proverbial barrel.

Perhaps she has become a sad, rapidly aging, self-parodying, desiccated character to be pitied more so than one to be mercilessly ridiculed for entertainment purposes.

Everything about her from her gibberishy word salad to her persistent perfidy to her countless public failures to her comical fashion choices are horrible beyond comprehension and yet she struggles mightily each and every day to give the entire world more reason to laugh at her.

The question we must ask ourselves is HASN'T THIS IGNORANT, SELF-SERVING, UNPRINCIPLED WRETCHED CREATURE SUFFERED ENOUGH?

Track went home and packed some stuff, Piper said….and then a guy in a white truck drove him away. He could be back now for all I know. My aunt isn’t really talking to my mom since I decided I was not going to stop posting here. But I still talk to some other people in the family.

I was told Jordan’s parents tried to get her to go home with them (mom and step dad) and she would not stay after the first night but then when the media blew up she said she might go back. (Don’t know if she did or not)

Trig and Piper were both at Bristol’s when all this went down. Trig basically lives with her now and Piper helps with all the kids. Piper said track and Jordan and Bristol were all “piss moaning drunk” and she put on the minion movie for the kids to distract them. Tripp was not there.

She said track and Jordan were the only ones at my aunt’s house when the actual incident happened. She also said lots of guns are still there so obviously nobody took them away. That is insane.

I don’t know anything about my aunt and trump, except that she has spoken in very crude terms about him before and seemed to hate him. She has said he turned orange by getting blow jobs from chimps and that the silver spoon up his ass is so big it’s touching the underside of his hair plugs, etc. I’m pretty sure he is paying her for all her “support”.

As for Nancy, she knows the shitstorm that continues to break over the Paylin family; and she's suddenly required to write speeches since RAM is no longer on the payroll; plus she's filling in where before Scarah had more paid publicist and social media/ reputation management firms helping her ( she can no longer afford them.) Nancy deserves a fat raise for all Scarah expects of her now! Not that she'll get it because the Paylins are always doing YOU a favor when you're working essentially for free for them. That's their attitude anyway. Cousin knows from her own babysitting experiences how they take advantage of everyone!

They also make people sign not just heavy non-disclosure agreements but intense non-compete agreements, making it hard for some of these folks to get other work in their field. Nancy has probably had to agree not to ghostwrite for anybody else for a certain period if she leaves Scarah; so she is smart to demand more money now since she will be unemployed for years after she stops working for Sarah.

Actually, as much as I love Tina Fey, I thought she'd done better imitations of Palin in the past.

She certainly has the voice and mannerisms down pat, but she used far too many grammatically correct sentences to accurately reflect Palin's tsunami of incoherent babble. In the portions of Palin's 'speech' that I listened to or read, there was not a single complete sentence in the whole nasty mess.

I've always suspected that someone gave her a Right Wing Refrigerator Poetry Magnet set and that's what she uses to prepare her verbal assaults.

I think Tina Fey says the lines that are in the script for the skit. She may have input but overall it's a writer that picks the sentence structure.

Tina recited Sarah's "speech," and a couple of extra words were added to make the rhyme sound like a poetry rap. Most of what Tina said was a repeat of Sarah's Slogans.

'...Palin was equally descriptive as she established common cause with her audience, identifying all as “right- wingin’, bitter- clingin’, proud clingers of our guns, our God, and our religions, and our Constitution.”

Her erstwhile siren call was mostly siren, her formerly hopey-changey, winky-blinky charm turned cranky-wanky and shrill. “You ready for a commander in chief . . . who will let our warriors do their job and go kick ISIS ass?” she shrieked.

...Well, there is a certain leitmotif there that one could take pains to admire. Meanwhile, it looks as though Republicans may get what they deserve — a bombastic, bellicose, self-aggrandizing, mean-streaked, golf-cheating, bullying narcissist without plans or policies beyond his own, no doubt fickle, fantasies.'

The Republican Party Is SCARED WITLESS Of The Donald Trump-enstein They Created

...What this tells us is that Reince Priebus is the weakest Republican Party chairman in decades. He is letting Trump dictate the terms of the campaign. And the other candidates are keeping their mouths shut. They are all too afraid to demand that their primary be conducted with neutrality and integrity. It is a pathetic display of cowardice by a party so feeble it’s at risk of blowing away. And the thought of facing aggressive questions, even from other conservatives, makes them scurry into the crevices in the floorboards like cockroaches surprised by the light.

Good luck to them when they eventually face actual opponents in the general election. They will be utterly unprepared for battle having sheltered themselves in a cocoon of limp rhetoric that all stems from the same cultish mindset. That may be sufficient to draw support from Republican dimwits who thrive in those pools of ignorance, but it is a recipe for crushing defeat when the broader electorate votes in November.

Donald Trump Heckles Protester Wearing Turban: 'He Wasn't Wearing One of Those Hats, Was He?"

Donald Trump is either continuing his campaign for Racist in Chief, and he’s only getting more adept at it—or, he’s got really terrible eyesight.

At a rally in Muscatine, Iowa, on Sunday, a pair of protestors carrying a sign that read “Stop Hate” was reportedly met with just that. MSNBC captured the moment when, as one protester wearing a red turban was escorted out of the arena, the Republican presidential candidate asked aloud, “He wasn’t wearing one of those hats, was he?”

Anyone can do it. I officiated a gay wedding in California. Fill out a form, pay a sixty five dollar fee and sign and notarize a paper. BUT the wedding has to be taped and the wording has to be precise, you're deputized for twenty four hours. Don't know about other states, but under "religion" I wrote "Atheist" and under two other questions I wrote N/A and the judge let it pass.
Yeah, I'd wear black at my fourth wedding, and have people with torn and stained jeans in the wedding. I give it a year and a half, tops. Ha Ha Ha Sarah gets to "play act" Mother of the bride.

Trump: Blacks Will Like Me Better Than

    Obamahttp://crooksandliars.com/2016/01/trump-blacks-will-me-better-obama
    ------------
Here is the best line from the interview:

Look, the African Americans love me because they know I am going to bring back jobs.

    KURTZ: Not all African Americans.

TRUMP: Look at what happened, as an example, with African American youth. Fifty-four percent, 58% -- they don't even know it's so high. They can't get jobs. Look at African-American people in their prime - 30s and 40s and 50s - look at their unemployment rate. They want jobs. They are going to like me better than they like Obama. The truth is Obama has done nothing for them.

So basically he is saying African Americans and Hispanics are all unemployed.

At this point I think he has to keep repeating who loves him, in order to convince himself.

I see it differently. So many have accused Gryph of "not letting it go." As long as she's still out there in political discourse, have at her. She's the one that brought it on herself. There's nothing she'd like more than those who can see straight through her to go away so she can continue.

  52. Several things went through my head.

One was that the SNL costumers got one of those beaded jackets before they sold out.

The next was the Tina Fey has certainly aged better than Palin and still looks great.

The third was, wow, they got Tina Fey to agree to channel Palin again?

The fourth was, yay! I hope Palin keeps providing fodder for SNL so that Tina will keep coming back. I just love her.

The Palin/Trump stuff on SNL is the best thing the Democratic party could hope for. Late night will defeat the clown car. SNL, Colbert, they'll all expose the right wing in a way that is really going to sting in the voting booths.

    2. I believe it. $695 for a sweater?

Apparently she wore it last November on CBS Sunday.

It's from 2014 and Saks had it marked down to $185 at one point.

But amazon and eBay may have gouged the price after it sold out at Saks and Palin wore it on Tuesday.

I think it sold out almost immediately after her speech so SNL probably couldn't get one. So they had Wed, Thurs, Fri and Saturday until the show to get it done. Doable but that is a lot of man hours of beading.

    From the original article:

"I interviewed her right after she announced she was pregnant. She laughed off people who said it would be a problem, calling them cavemen. I didn’t have children then but now that I do, I can better appreciate her hustle. She had four kids, including one serving in the army. A war was on. She was expecting a baby with Down’s syndrome (and pretty soon she’d have a teenage daughter who was pregnant.) Through it all, she remained tough and positive."

So Track was serving in the army while she was "expecting" Trig? I thought he went into the army well after Trig's alleged birth.

This would have been much funnier if they had written Trump's script as thought bubbles. It would have allowed the actor to replicate all those ridiculous faces Trump made during Palin's stupid speech.
