Partisanship plays heavily into how news outlets cover Russia hacking our election process and helping Donald Trump win the White House.

Okay so yesterday I decided to take my antacids and flip the channel over to Fox News for a bit, just to see how they were handling the CIA contention that Russia interfered in our election process to help Trump win the White House.

Spoiler alert: They are denying it altogether.

Not only that but they are mocking news agencies that are covering the story and accusing them of planting "fake news."

And the same holds true on every other Right Wing news outlet that I could find online.

Despite the fact that virtually EVERY respected newspaper and online news outlet is reporting the information as accurate, many using their own intelligence sources, the Right Wing is in total denial.

Of course this comes on the heels of a denial from the Trump campaign as well.

A denial that is also now being voiced by RNC spokesman Sean Spicer.

Which is weird because remember the Republican leaders in the House and Senate were informed of this information by the CIA way back in September:

The Post's report cited Republicans who expressed skepticism about the available evidence when presented with it in September, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

That is almost two months before the election, and the Republicans did nothing.

On the other hand Democrats like Dianne Feinstein and Harry Reid were desperately trying to get the word out before  the election.

But they were ignored and even blocked by the Republicans who refused to admit that the Russians were working to hand the election to the candidate from their party. The very definition of putting party before country.

So now we have a couple of Republicans who feel compelled to launch an investigation, even though the damage has already been done.

It is pretty clear that many of these same Republicans heard that CIA briefing back in September, and yet they are only NOW getting off their old asses and doing something about it?

And because they were so reticent to undermine their party's candidate we are now stuck with a wholly unqualified megalomaniac who is currently filling his cabinet with the modern day equivalent of robber barons.

Remember that old movie from the 80's, Red Dawn?

We all laughed back then at how paranoid and implausible the film seemed.

How were we to know how easy it would be for Russia to actually invade our country and undermine our democracy?

And where were the Wolverines when we really needed them?

    “I’m, LIKE, a SMART Person”

    1. Anonymous9:09 AM

I just watched. Oh my god, this guy is insane. He is so disengaged. And when he listens to something he's so typical: just get the main point and none of the details and subtleties, and don't sit and convene to discuss things.

  2. Anonymous8:54 AM

But if you had it your way, the Wolverines would have had to fight with slingshots, because they would not have had any firearms.

    1. Anonymous9:08 AM

No, slingshots are still too dangerous, they should resolve the invasion with iced lattes and links to politicususa full meltdown posts.

    2. Anonymous9:14 AM

You really deserve what Trump will do to you.

    3. Anonymous9:38 AM

      9:08 - you are a fool.

    4. Actually 8:54 I meant their fighting spirit and conviction to stand against the invaders.

Not really sure how firearms would have helped in the current circumstances.

So, Mitch "The Bitch" McConnell was rewarded by handing his wife (beard) the top job at the Labor Board. They should be charged with treason.

    1. Anonymous10:26 AM

That's how I feel. The GOP have been all over Hillary and wanting to charge her with crimes against the country, but look at what the GOP are doing! And because the Dems believe in following the rules and working on things behind the scenes, they kept their mouths shut. We had all already heard before one of the debates (can't recall which one it was) talked about the Russia hacking, and we had heard that the experts agreed that it was going on and why they thought it was happening. Trump just denied things with that 400-lb. person comment. Hillary held back. I remember wishing she'd speak up and say something more than what she was saying, but knew she had to keep her mouth shut. Always, Trump has played off of knowing that the people who play by the book will never say something out of line. He knew he could say then whatever he wanted and he'd get away with it. Her hands were tied. Anyway, fuck McConnell and I want hearings that will put this asshole under a microscope.

Last year we watched an impressive, yet scary, Norwegian television series entitled "Occupied." The occupier is Russia and it became clear that one doesn't want to have too close a relationship to Russia. The series was shown on streaming television on Netflix; we hope there's a second season because we need to know that it all works out okay. No one should trust the bear that is Russia. It is not the political embodiment of either Paddington or Winnie-the-Poooh.

Landslide Lie Debunked: Trump Got .35% More Popular Vote Than 1988 Loser Michael Dukakis

Conservative CNN contributor and senior editor at The Atlantic David Frum reminded Trump and his supporters that actually, in spite of their claims to have a mandate, the people "didn't speak" because "Donald Trump won 0.35 points more of the popular vote than Michael Dukakis in 1988."

    1. Anonymous10:28 AM

I've been so into watching serious-looking Frum and reading his articles during this election. He's a conservative who won't just say whatever will help the GOP. When almost all other GOPers have thrown ethics out the window, he's been there to speak truthfully.

  8. Anonymous9:12 AM

If ever there was a time when a member of the Congress or CIA needed to say "screw it, I'm talking," this was it. That person should have risked everything to come out and say what s/he knew and in a way that made everyone hear. Being booted from the govt. and possibly put in prison for speaking up should have been worth speaking up. We didn't need hints. We needed someone to come out completely.

    1. Anonymous9:30 AM

Hasn't all this supposed conspiracy taken place under Obama's watch? If this big Russian takeover were such a real thing how did Obama miss it? Is his administration this big of a failure? Be careful what you wish for with investigations desires folks, do you want to further tarnish his lackluster 8 years with public discovery of major errors, coverups, and illegal activities.

    2. Anonymous9:43 AM

9:30, every American should have "investigations desires." Could you please provide links to the "major errors, coverups, and illegal activities" you attribute to Obama?

Trump is in such denial. He says he doesn't need the daily briefings. True, he has no attention span and interest. But he also uses the briefing avoidance to live with his denial. He's doing the "No, don't tell me, and then I can't be accused of lying later when asked" head game.

  10. Anonymous9:25 AM

Must watch SNL's "Through Donald's Eyes" if you didn't catch it last night. It's darker than other trump skits and really goes to his disturbing psyche:

  11. Anonymous9:28 AM

I've been on the intertubes for 5 minutes and already my stomach is in a knot. Trump turns the truth into propaganda, and creates his own propaganda and calls it truth. Now I'm getting a stomach ache too. Fuckety fuck fuck we are so fucked.

    1. Anonymous11:58 AM

Goodness, take a deep breath and get a hold of yourself, pat yer back. Big Hug. America needs all her citizens alert and paying attention. America in transition. The process is not yet over. We are looking into the most dark deep language of our most trusted document's of America sitting in Our Smithsonian. They still have fingerprints, sweat and blood on them and dna! Their real!!! really! And the answer to this unanswered question of what to do about this election issue lies there. The brightest Legal Scholar's are working overtime. peace.

Hey Kids..short story time..there are plenty of interesting articles relating to the fear in the 60's and before about Russia. "A Communist Country" Red Scare!!! soviet plans to invade. Read Up. In the tragic attacks like Pearl harbor, Vietnam, 911, and more, we had warnings, ignored. Everything fine. 2 books about FOX NATION and channel. And then go play a game of chess and beat your chest. Light a Cuban cigar, container of jolly, turn on a good soviet spy flick, james bond or tango music and then imagine a tall orange ape, hangin on a tower in new York city beating his chest and calling himself president of world. Bingo that was actor bot and celebrat in unreality rumpisstein land. EVEN the fact this green baloney is even on our table and happening tells us that the little plot, plan and agenda way back in 08 by our dear fellow americans and most trusted friends on the -->R has been executed by gosh science and by the magic 16 wearing underware.
UNLESS majority americans disagree? And our leaders that have actually read the bill of rights, constitution not the altered heritage constitution, but the actual non edited constitution and of course the other various documents that our forefathers drafted signed and sealed our protections from the dictators and rulers that they fled from. Red Dawn? pooty loves it. Crazy dictators watch lots of American movies. Do you homework children, read and pay attention. This is real and everyone must stand up and speak up and insist that America will not allow interference into our most cherished election, nor will we allow our paid servants to sway the vote, lie, cheat and steal to our knowledge and we the people will not allow our paid servants to interfere in our elections and we the people are GGGGGGGG-children and children of Immigrants that fled from communism, dictators and evil rulers and came to this land for freedom of such. Some came in peace, some came to take. The Trump foundation taker global mindset. Demand, don't shut up, stand up for elections free of influence, corruption, rigged or hacked, DEMAND. It is our most #1 right. Thee most important!!!

    1. Anonymous11:27 AM

      aka RESIST!

    2. Anonymous12:17 PM

No. Demand. And then accept. Demand the accuracy of the election. It does not matter who won, what matters if won legit, legally, ethically, accordingly. Resist is not an option. Accurate is mandatory. Then Acceptance is American.

Like Bristol Palin, The Donald needs and wants to be loved.

    1. The Donald wants to be loved so he goes without his wife to the Army Navy football game where he knows as president-elect he will be cheered and not booed.

    2. The Donald has after-election love me rallies in the states he already won. Does he know the election is over?

    3. The Donald's cabinet selection are billionaire friends and multi-millionaire friends of billionaire friends

    4. New York Post: So what’s it like when your hometown — supposedly the most tolerant city in the nation — turns intolerant toward you.

    5. Internet: Hillary Clinton has 2.7 million more votes than Donald Trump, despite losing the presidential election, and the number is expected to rise. Ms Clinton is on track to get more votes than president Barack Obama did in 2012. He won 65.9 million, and she is only about 400,000 votes behind him.

Update: Clinton “victory” margin of 2,841,862 votes over Trump, or seen in percentage figures, a lead of 2.09 percentage points.

    6. NBC News: The CIA has concluded that Russia mounted a covert intelligence operation to influence the U.S. election in an effort to help Donald Trump win,

    7. (This sad but then again funny) Trump Team Scrambles for A-List Inaugural Performers: ‘They Are Willing to Pay Anything’

    - two insiders tell The Wrap Trump inaugural committee members have contacted them in recent days offering cash or even a government appointment if they could deliver marquee names.

    - "They are willing to pay anything,” one of the insiders told TheWrap.

    - “They told me, ‘We’ll pay their fees.’ Most of these artists’ fees are in the six to seven figures.”

    - The insider said the Trump negotiator also offered to pay him for delivering top talent, saying, “Name your price.”

    8. This is even sadder, The Donald wants to be loved. Surprised he hasn't tied a pork chop around his neck so he can get packs of dogs to bark for him inside airplane hangars.

    9. Said he carries Tic Tacs in his pockets because he is attracted to beautiful women and can't help himself

    10. Lonely, has to attack and grab handfuls of bush

It is not all bad news for The Donald, he hasn't hit rock bottom and begged on the internet for lumbersexuals like Bristol Palin.

Gryphen----please!!! enough with the constant political updates. I'm all too away of the mess we're all in & it's depressing as hell! I've been in a gloomy funk ever since November 8 & I've given up on following the media, no news shows, no internet news. I've been reduced to checking your blog only once a day because it's non-stop misery & I can't deal with it on a daily basis. Please, tell what you've been up to, how life is treating you, what life in Alaska is like these days. Anything!!!! Even hearing about the Palins is better than the nonsense the media is spewing----at least the Palins are good for some comic relief! All the best to you & your family this holiday season & I'll continue to check in every day & hope to see some more uplifting than the rapid decline of the democratic principles of our country.

Washington State Electors File Lawsuit To Stop Trump From Becoming President

Washington state electors have filed a lawsuit that seeks to overturn a state law that forces them to vote for the winner of the state's popular vote. The Washington suit is part of a broader effort to unbound electors so that they are free not to vote for Donald Trump.

    1. Wimps.

They should simply do it anyway. Just don't tell anyone. I believe the electoral vote is also by secret ballot.

They can vote for whoever they want. In some states they just face a piddly fine if they're caught or it can be proven.

They should just do it. Then let the state take them to court and have it all out in the open, entertaining us.

BTW, Washington State went for Hillary. 12 electors. So I suspect these two assholes want to switch their votes to Trump, just to make sure there aren't enough electors going the other way to make any difference. Or they're just buttheads.

  18. Anonymous11:20 AM

By claiming that he is too smart for presidential daily briefings during an interview with Fox News Sunday, Donald Trump showed that he intends to violate his oath office. Trump's refusal to protect and defend the United States gave the Electoral College more than enough reason to reject his candidacy.

  20. Anonymous11:26 AM

Gryphen has the answer to the questions he asks...

  21. Anonymous11:34 AM

I don't believe that I would under estimate President Obama! Our President and leader he will put America in harms way until this question about the hacked and rigged election is resolved legally and ethically. period. This is not about mr trump or senator Clinton. This is about America and the Election Accuracy. And both of them should welcome it. Lesson. We need the same voting process in all states, with vote number and chain of custody. No alternatives.

    1. Anonymous1:25 PM

I agree but we live in a country where one of the two major political parties would never go along with the notion of a national election that is truly national.

  22. Anonymous11:35 AM

“When Putin came to his first term or second term, nobody [in Russia] actually thought that this is serious. Everybody was joking about it. And nobody could imagine that after five, six years, we would have a war in Ukraine, annexation of Crimea, and these problems in Syria,” in which Russia has become involved.

“Everybody [is] joking about Donald Trump now, but it’s a very short way from joke to sad reality when you have a really crazy president speaking about breaking every moral and logic norm. So I hope that he will not be president. That’s very simple.”

  23. Anonymous11:42 AM

How about this theory? He isn't really a liar, he has a condition that means he just forgets what he has said. It is called "unethical amnesia" and happens when people engage in dishonest behavior. So, they just say what they think they need to say, never believing anyone will remember, and so they don't remember. They don't lie about it later, they just don't remember saying it because they never meant it and assumed everyone would understand. REad about it here

And, if you stick with the videos included in the article, you will get a great explanation from Seth Meyers on this notion of Trump's forgetfulness and the theory of "unethical amnesia".

    1. Anonymous12:28 PM

Trouble For Trump: Bipartisan Group Of Senators To Investigate Russia Election Interference

"The competing messages, according to officials in attendance, also reflect cultural differences between the FBI and the CIA. The bureau, true to its law enforcement roots, wants facts and tangible evidence to prove something beyond all reasonable doubt. The CIA is more comfortable drawing inferences from behavior."

    from WP

    1. Bull fucking shit.

Did the FBI have any facts and tangible evidence when they let loose that bomb 11 days before the election? They are right wing fucking assholes. They wanted Trump to win because they didn't want to serve under a woman president and specifically not Hillary Clinton.

I think there is some rivalry involved here between the FBI and CIA, but I also think the CIA takes it's job a little more seriously since it is there job to protect us from foreign governments.

Both the FBI and the CIA had Trump's links to Russia long before they sabotaged Hillary and yet they sat on the info until AFTER the election.

Now the CIA is trying to save it's soul with a few Hail Marys and the FBI is busy saying move along, nothing to see here, these are the droids you're looking for.

You *know* there's something and it's bad when Trump is saying this is all in the past and to move along and make America great again.
