It seems Sarah Palin came slithering out of her hidey hole to attend Billy Graham's funeral.

Source
Courtesy of NPR:

Some 2,300 guests sat under a symbolic large white canvas tent in Charlotte, N.C., for the Rev. Billy Graham's funeral service on Friday.

The setting evoked the "canvas cathedral" — two circus tents pitched together in Los Angeles in 1949 — to shelter the thousands of people who came to watch Graham preach, according to the Billy Graham Library. "The Los Angeles Crusade," eight weeks of services, would help raise Graham to national prominence.

President Trump and Melania Trump sat in the front row of Graham's funeral service Friday. Vice President Pence and his wife, Karen, and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, were also there.

This just gives more credibility to the idea that Palin wants her next job to be as a fire and brimstone evangelical preacher.

Of course Palin's connection was only tenuous, her real connection is with Franklin Graham, the man now being credited with undermining his father's legacy.

A legacy it should be mentioned that also contained heaping amounts of antisemitism.

By the way Palin also got an dishonorable mention on Real Time last night.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

When talking about former communications director Hope Hicks, Maher recalled the way she helped the campaign by steaming Trump’s pants while he was wearing them. She was the keeper of the steamer.

“Hope Hicks feels like she can be more effective steaming the pants of those in the private sector,” he joked.

When it came to Jared Kushner, he couldn’t believe someone would be so stupid as to hold a meeting in the White House for his own personal business affairs.

“I want to see his birth certificate,” Maher said. “I think it’s going to say: Birthplace: Alaska. Birth name: Jared Palin.”

Palin may want to be an evangelical preacher, but her real job will always be to serve as punchline for late night comedians.

Well here's a magazine I will never subscribe to.

Abortion, Euthanasia, ISIS, and Hollywood are all comparable to one another?

Really?

I actually had never heard of this magazine until I found this image on Reddit.

After a little digging I found that it is a magazine put out by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. And that many of the articles are written by Sarah Palin's look but don't touch boyfriend Franklin Graham.

From what I can determine it is a magazine filled with dire predictions for the end of the world as we know it and the only cure for all of that is.....wait for it.....God.

Oh yeah and on the magazine's webpage they also beg for donations, because though God is all powerful he does not work for free dammit!

Sister Mary Moosenuggets gives a shout out to Billy Graham on his 96th birthday.

I actually was not going to address this video as it does not have much of anything to do with politics. However it does deal with Palin and her phony religious convictions, so that is certainly in my wheelhouse.

Do not expect a transcript as this thing is so convoluted and impossible to follow that it would take me an hour and I would end up with a splitting headache.

The first thing I noticed is that Palin was dressed as if she had suddenly been accepted into the nunnery. Gone are the sparkly shirts and fake cleavage, and instead she is wearing what looks like a minister's robe or a table cloth from a Black Mass.

Hard to tell really.

Palin essentially gushes over Billy Graham for a little over six minutes, telling us how honored she was to have attended his 95th birthday..

..seen above, and how her mother came to become a follower of his.  (Though in this newer version she explains that her mother saw his message on television, and in the original version I do believe she suggested that Sally had seen him in person.)

Palin explains that her mother became enamored with Graham during the time that she refers to as the "Jesus Era" of the seventies, which is a sanitized memory of what we all called the era of the "Jesus Freaks."

What makes this video interesting, in an "Oh my God there is a four car pileup on the highway" kind of way, is that Palin is clearly working without a script, and her meanderings are essentially a stream of consciousness look into how her brain misfires and jumps from topic to topic like a frog in a frying pan.

All in all it is incredibly bizarre and in some ways a little disturbing. But then again what about Sarah Palin is not both of those things?

P.S. Oh I almost forgot that in the early part of the video the person behind the camera kept adjusting it up and down in an attempt to frame her in the shot without cutting off the top of her head. Which makes me think that either it was a drunken Todd or Bristol behind the camera.

Sarah Palin walks among the faithful at the Billy Graham Library.

Meeting old friends! Charlie and his family met the Palins during the ’08 campaign and during the 2009 “Going Rogue” book signing event in The Villages, FL. They met again during a book signing event for Governor Palin’s new book, “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas,” on Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Look Palin found the one Down Syndrome boy in the crowd to get her picture taken with.

Of course it is the same Down Syndrome boy she had her picture taken with in 2009.
Photo also courtesy of Facebook
This from the Billy Graham website:

Palin visited the Billy Graham Library for a tour and a signing of her recent book release, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas.

“I certainly recognize there is a war on Christmas that’s being waged—it seems—in our culture right now,” she said. “The true meaning of Christmas, of course, is Christ’s birth. I wanted to write this so that people realize that they can proudly and boldly proclaim the true meaning of Christmas.”

In 2010, Palin and some of her family members travel to Haiti, where they visited a Samaritan’s Purse cholera clinic and help distribute Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. In 2009, Palin visited Billy and Franklin Graham at Mr. Graham’s Montreat home in the North Carolina mountains.

Today, she finally had the chance to visit the place the bears the name of one of her spiritual heroes.

“Billy Graham changed the world because he has allowed Christ to shine right through him. People would listen to him and could receive his message,” said Palin, who attended Mr. Graham’s 95th birthday party last month in Asheville, N.C. “He so capitalized—in a good way—on the favor that God gave him to do the Lord’s will and to do the Lord’s work.”

“I am happy to be here at the Billy Graham Library today. I had no idea it was this amazing. It reflects the fact that it was not about Billy Graham. His ministry is truly about the Gospel, and this facility reflects that.”

You know I used to joke that someday Palin would walk away from politics altogether and start her own church, and follow in the tradition of the Jerry Falwells, Billy Grahams, and  Jimmy Swaggerts that came before her. And more and more it looks like that may not have been such a joke after all.

At least if she did that she could afford better wigs.

Palin mingling with Samaritan's Purse volunteers
After this disastrous book tour I actually think that Palin has just about run out of options. She can really no longer seriously perform her political prick tease, she can't sell books, and nobody wants to see her on television.

She is a talentless has been, whose looks are rapidly deteriorating, and whose family has come to rely on her to pay their bills. So what options does somebody like her have left?

Sarah Palin's next two stops on her Grift-a-palooza will be at a university founded by a dead televangelist and to visit the library of one just barely clinging to life.

Honored to be participating in the final Convocation of 2013 this Wednesday at Liberty University. Look forward to discussing “Good Tidings and Great Joy” and how together we can protect the heart of Christmas.

Liberty University, for those who do not know, was founded by gay basher extraordinaire Jerry Falwell, who built the school in response to new civil rights laws that were forcing regular universities to  allow black folk to sleep in the same dorms as their white betters.

This will take place tomorrow, on Wednesday, after that Palin is off to one of the few libraries on the planet that would allow her sad little book to be placed on its shelves.

We will be in Charlotte, NC, this Friday, December 6th at the Billy Graham Library signing copies of "Good Tidings and Great Joy." Look forward to visiting with volunteers as well as supporting Operation Christmas Child. Todd, Bristol, and I visited Haiti with Franklin Graham and were able to hand out some of the generous shoeboxes these volunteers process and package with care -- glad to have the opportunity to thank them and highlight the great work they do.

So Palin is now essentially working the tent revival circuit, trying to find folks who are not known for exercising their critical thinking skills, in the hopes that she will be able to unload a few more of these future toilet paper dispensers.

After all who better to buy a book full of fabrications and poorly written family mythology, than people raised to accept that the Bible was a historically accurate document written by the hand of God?

Of course that is assuming that these Bible thumpers were not paying attention when this happened.
But hey, if you think about it, "Santa" is just "Satan" with the letters rearranged. After all who ELSE knows whether you're naughty or nice?

Sarah Palin insinuates herself into the Billy Graham 95th birthday celebration in the hopes of absorbing a little of that evangelical reflected glory. Book sales, yo!

"So again, and I hate to keep bringing this up, have you thought about who would take over your ministry once you are dead?"
Courtesy of the Washington Post:

The elder Graham was flanked by real estate mogul Donald Trump and former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Franklin Graham said prior to the event that former President Bill Clinton, who had been listed as one of the guests, couldn’t attend.

“Billy Graham, we need you around another 95 years,” Palin said. “We need Billy Graham’s message to be heard, I think, today more than ever.”

She does realize that Graham can barely move around or talk right?

And I think I know EXACTLY why Bill Clinton couldn't attend.  After all what would it do for Hillary's political future if he allowed himself to be photographed with Sarah Palin and Donald Trump?

Palin is really hitting all of the evangelical hotspots in preparation for her upcoming book tour.

This was perhaps my favorite gif from the event.

"Hey, you and me in 2016. Deal?"

Oh even I can't get that lucky. Right?

Sarah Palin pimps her daughter's ghostwritten blog, and kisses up to Billy Graham and the ghost of Ronald Reagan, all in the service of increasing her Christian bonafides.

Courtesy of Sister Sarah Simpleton's Facebook page:

Please read Billy Graham’s impassioned plea to the new president of Iran imploring the release of the imprisoned pastor Saeed Abedini. Bristol has been covering Saeed’s story for a long time on her blog. We are all so grateful to Rev. Graham for taking out this full-page ad in the New York Times to bring light to this terrible injustice.

President Obama, please act on this by using your position to appeal for Saeed’s release. We often ask ourselves, “What would Reagan do?” Well, in the 1980s, President Reagan worked behind the scenes to appeal to the Soviets for the release of Russian Christian dissidents who wanted to emigrate, and because of Reagan’s quiet work in the background, these Christians were finally allowed to leave the former Soviet Union. Reagan used the exceptional position of POTUS to appeal for justice, and it worked. Now we need our current president to appeal to Iran's new president for the release of this imprisoned Christian.

Kudos to Rev. Graham for taking action today. I have so much respect for him. As my dad wrote about in his book, Billy Graham was the man who led my mom to Christ years ago, which resulted in the rest of the family becoming Christians in the 70s.

 - Sarah Palin

Okay, well first I think that Sarah Palin has quite a pair of wrinkly balls to ask President Obama to do ANYTHING after she has been lying about him and attacking him for having the temerity to beat her and her grandfather lo those many years ago.

Putting that aside I would imagine that there are all kinds of diplomatic measures being taken in order to gain his release (Including Secretary of State John Kerry's numerous attempts.) as well as the two other Americans being held, just like there are for Kenneth Bae currently being held in North Korea, who for some reason does not garner the same outcry for his release from Graham and Palin as does Saeed even thought Bae is also a Christian missionary.

I think it is admirable that Graham or ANYBODY advocate for the release of prisoners, though I would personally not make their religion the primary reason for my advocacy. After all there are numerous Muslims being held as political prisoners in Iran, and numerous North Koreans being held in prisons for the same reasons, and yet no outraged demands appear to be forthcoming on their behalf.

By the way it appears that the main reason Palin and Bristol are jumping on this bandwagon is because it has become a cause celebre, with numerous Christian leaders and others who are joining in to call for his release. This includes of course Ted Cruz, who, like Palin, knows a good public relations stunt when he sees one.

There is something very unsettling about certain religious types caring only of their own, and having little compassion for those of a differing faith.

Are not human beings worthy of the same rights as every other human being? Or is there a religious litmus test to determine those worthy of compassion and those deemed unworthy?

Having said that I also fervently hope that Saeed Abedini will soon be granted his freedom.  As well as the prisoners currently held in Gitmo, those serving time in American prisons for minor drug offenses, and those locked away in prisons around the world for speaking out against tyranny and in favor of human rights.

After all they are fellow human beings. And in the absence of serious criminal behavior all human beings deserve to be free.

Christian or not.

Gallup finds Hillary Clinton is the most admired woman in the world and Sarah Palin is the fifth most admired person in the world. Wait, what?

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

A new Gallup poll again hands the secretary of state the title of the “most admired woman” in the world, with 21 percent selecting her. First lady Michelle Obama comes in a distant second at 5 percent, followed by Oprah Winfrey at 4 percent.

Okay well all of that makes sense, I even kind of understand Condi Rice at the number four spot, but Palin at five? WTF?

And how in the HELL does she beat out the extraordinarily brave Malala Yousafzai? That is ridiculous!

So what is she so admired for?

Her political presence? There isn't one.

Her intelligence? Seriously?

Her reality show career? Hah!

Her parenting? Double Hah!

Seriously I simply do NOT get it.

I went to the actual Gallup site to see if it was the way the question was asked. This is what they said:

The open-ended nature of the question produces the names of people with high top-of-mind name identification, most often hailing from the world of government and politics; the list also includes individuals who have become famous serving humanitarian causes and others whose fame comes from the business and entertainment worlds.

Okay so essentially it is based on name recognition.

These are the names of people that the individuals asked knew off of the top of their heads. And sadly Palin was mentioned quite a lot this last year. Sure mostly it was to mock her, or use her as a comparison for how badly the Paul Ryan pick was, but you not THAT bad.

I would LOVE to have heard a follow up question asking the respondents WHY they chose who they chose. I think for those who chose Palin wall you would hear is the sound of crickets.

If it makes you feel any better look who shows up as3rd, 4th, and 5th on the mens side of the poll.

Oh yeah. Mitt Romney as the third most admired man, and George W. Bush as the fifth, certainly puts the whole thing into perspective.

Guess which polling group is now the LEAST admired? Yeah, that's right Gallup.

Billy Graham endorses Mitt Romney, right before his website is scrubbed of statement calling Mormonism a "cult."

Courtesy of The New Civil Rights Movement:

Billy Graham last night endorsed Mitt Romney for president, and shortly thereafter, his website was scrubbed of a statement Graham or his organization made calling Mormonism a “cult.”

“It was an honor to meet and host Governor Romney in my home today, especially since I knew his late father former Michigan Governor George Romney, whom I considered a friend,” the 93-year old Christian Evangelist Southern Baptist minister said via a statement. ”I have followed Mitt Romney’s career in business, the Olympic Games, as governor of Massachusetts and, of course, as a candidate for president of the United States.”

As of June 5, 2010, if not much earlier, Billy Graham’s website stated:

A cult is any group which teaches doctrines or beliefs that deviate from the biblical message of the Christian faith. It is very important that we recognize cults and avoid any involvement with them. Cults often teach some Christian truth mixed with error, which may be difficult to detect.

There are some features common to most cults:

• They do not adhere solely to the sixty-six books of the Bible as the inspired Word of God. They add their “special revelations” to the Bible and view them as equally authoritative.

• They do not accept that our relationship to Jesus Christ is a reality “by grace through faith” alone, but promote instead a salvation by works.

• They do not give Jesus Christ, the divine Son of God, full recognition as the second Person of the Trinity, composed of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Some of these groups are Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spiritists, Scientologists, and others.

Remember, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

As I said before the Republicans and Fundamentalists have come to the conclusion that they only have ONE shot at beating Obama, and unfortunately for them it resides within this arrogant, entitled, liar, who believes that Jesus visited America, Indians are really Jews, and when he dies he gets to have his own planet.

But hey, at least he's not black.

President Obama has meeting with Billy Graham. Sarah Palin seen screaming "Get that Islamic Kenyan away from him he is MINE!"

From Huffington Post:

President Barack Obama made a pilgrimage Sunday to Billy Graham's mountainside home, concluding his North Carolina vacation with his first meeting with the ailing evangelist who has counseled commanders in chief since Dwight Eisenhower.

The 48-year-old president made the short drive to Montreat from Asheville, where he spent the weekend, to see the 91-year-old Graham and son Franklin, also an evangelist.

During the visit, which lasted about 30 minutes and included aides and advisers to both men, Obama had a private prayer and conversation with Billy Graham. The evangelist gave Obama two Bibles, one for him and one for the first lady, Graham spokesman Larry Ross said.

Franklin Graham said his father and Obama did most of the talking. They reminisced about their roots in Chicago – Graham went to Wheaton College and began some of his ministry in the region; Obama moved to Chicago after college and began his political career there. And they talked about golf.

"The conversation was very cordial, very nice," the younger Graham said. "When the president got ready to leave, the president prayed for my father, my father prayed for him."

Billy Graham PRAYED for him? Oh you just know that Sarah Palin is sitting somewhere hella  pissed off and waiting for her hands to unclench so that she can tap out a message on her Blackberry to her Facebook writer telling them to unleash "Facebook hell" on Obama for daring to connect with Billy Graham and receiving spiritual guidance.

"He was just being polite to you!  I am his favorite! Me, me, me, me, NOT YOU!"
