Time to brainstorm some baby names for Bristol Palin's newest bundle of joy. Update!

It occurred to me yesterday that since Bristol has finally confirmed that she is indeed having a baby girl, that we here at IM could perhaps help her to come up with a couple of baby name choices.

After all we exist to help, right?

Right?

Oh come on, just say right.

Anyhow I thought I would start the ball rolling with some of my choices, such as Stripp Palin, or Spazz Palin, or perhaps Cinnamon Palin. (You know just in case...)

Or perhaps she wants to honor the military by naming it after a branch of the service or a specific rank, such as Ranger Palin, or Sailor Palin, or Private Palin, or First Specialist Palin.

But then I started thinking that the Palins like to name their children after where they were conceived, you know like Track, Piper, and Bristol Palin.

So that got me thinking that perhaps the child could be called Backseat Palin, or Dirty Bathroom Floor Palin, or perhaps Behind MY Fiance's Back Palin.

Well I'm just spitballing, but perhaps some of YOU have even better names to contribute.

You know, because we are all about helping. Right?

Update: For those who are feeling particularity sorry of Bristol or think we are being mean, take a look at how she is described in an article entitled "Stars Who Refuse to Admit their 15 Minutes of Fame are Over": 

When your path to fame is built by being the daughter of an insane Alaskan politician-turned-talking-head, you need to milk that moose for all it’s worth. Sarah Palin’s daughter became a vocal abstinence spokesgirl, despite being a teen mom herself, but failed to ride her mother’s coattails when Sarah disastrously lost her political power. Instead, Bristol appears on reality shows whenever she can, and continues to barf out backward political opinions as loudly as she can so people will notice her again. 

Yeah I somehow don't think that my post on baby names is going to be the meanest thing that Bristol reads about herself this week. Or even today. 

Interesting opinion about why Christians want Atheists to stay quiet about their non-belief, or better yet lie about it.

 Religion relies on social consent to perpetuate itself. It’s a bad idea, and can’t stand up on its own. But it can, and does, perpetuate itself through social consent. It perpetuates itself through dogma saying that asking questions about religion is sinful, and that trusting religion without evidence is virtuous. It perpetuates itself through dogma saying that joy and meaning and morality can only be found in religion, and that leaving religion will automatically result in a desperate, amoral, pointless life. It perpetuates itself through religious communities and support systems that make believing in religion — or pretending to believe in religion — a necessity to function and indeed survive. It perpetuates itself through parents and other authority figures teaching it to children, whose brains are hard-wired to believe what they’re told. 

Religion relies on social consent to perpetuate itself. But the simple act of coming out as an atheist denies it this consent. Even if atheists never debate believers or try to persuade them out of their beliefs; even if all we ever do is say out loud, “Actually, I’m an atheist,” we’re still denying our consent. And that throws a monkey wrench into religion’s engine. 

There’s a reason that rates of atheism have been going up as use of the Internet goes up. (According to the MIT Technology Review, the dramatic drop in religious affiliation in the U.S. since 1990 is closely mirrored by the increase in Internet use — and while correlation certainly doesn’t prove causation, this analysis factors out pretty much every other possible causation.) The Internet has created a massive worldwide forum for atheists to argue about religion, to give evidence against religion, to ask for evidence and arguments supporting religion and point out how ridiculously weak they are. But the Internet has also created a massive, worldwide forum for atheists to simply, you know, exist. 

What’s more, this denial of consent has a snowball effect. As more atheists come out of the closet, more people will question religion and eventually leave it. And as they leave religion and come out about their atheism, another wave of people will question and abandon religion … and so on, and so on, and so on. 

It’s easy to ignore one person saying that the emperor has no clothes. It’s a lot harder to ignore 10 people saying it — and it’s harder still to ignore a hundred, or a thousand. 

So if you want to ignore the emperor’s nakedness, it’s not enough to just ignore it. You have to get other people to shut up about it. If you want religion to keep perpetuating itself, you have to get people to go along with it. You have to get people to fake it. 

You have to get people to lie.

Very true indeed. In fact I have seen this same thing happen right here on this blog.

Usually it arrives in a form similar to this:

"Gyphen I really enjoy your reporting on Sarah Palin (That bitch!) but I really wish you would stop attacking religion. I am sure that you realize that many of your visitors are religious, and it just makes us very uncomfortable. If you don't stop we will be forced to stop coming here every day."

If you think about this it is really quite arrogant of them. Especially since I started the Immoral Minority to talk about politics, current affairs, and, yes, religion.

It would be tantamount to going to somebody's house and saying, "I loved the casserole, and your house is quite lovely, but please stop talking about your children, or I will never come here again."

However as this article so eloquently explains, it is not that it bothers certain people that I talk about it here so much, as it is that they are afraid others are listening.

And of course, they are.

I heard recently that Levi and Sunny were looking for some help with attorney fees in order to take Bristol back to court to get a better custody situation worked out.

There was an offer made from an IM reader for us to help out. But so far neither Sunny nor Levi has reached out to them.

I would be willing to cover their initial expenses myself and solicit help from all of you moving forward, but I am just not sure that Levi would go for it.

I have offered in the past through Sadie and his mom but he has always refused to accept any help, which is kind of weird considering the fact that we are, for the most part, on the same side.

I understand if he does not want to answer any of my questions (Well I kind of understand anyway.) but I would be totally willing to help with no strings attached.

Maybe he will read this and finally realize that some people just want to help, without demanding something in return.

Now what could be so important that Sarah Palin felt the need to write it on her hand during the taping of the Today Show?

Let's clear the air a little, shall we?

I thought I would take a moment to clear up a couple of things this rainy Saturday afternoon.

Some have been asking what will become of IM with Palin no longer running.  I believe I addressed my feelings about that fairly well here. But for the slower folks, let me remind you that this blog has been in existence since November of 2004, well BEFORE Palin burst onto the national scene. I think I will manage to find things to write about regardless of what Sister Sarah chooses to do in the future.

While we are on the topic of me and this "defunct" blog, many of you have taken to pointing out to me whenever I am under attack on another website, whether it be Right Wing, or more on our side of the ideological fence.

I know that most of you are just trying to be helpful, but I have to admit that I usually don't bother going over to see what they are saying. I don't see how it helps me to do what I do, and it only provides more hits to people so desperate for them that they launch unprovoked attacks against IM.

That kind of seems counter productive, don't you agree?

I also understand that my favorite song has been playing out there on the internets. The "Gryphen is no longer pursuing new information, and has jumped the shark" song. Oh if I had a dime.

That is going to be especially embarrassing to certain people (yet again), after I finish the post I have been working on for the last several days. But hey, if you think I have nothing of interest to offer than I certainly encourage you to look at other blogs and websites. Actually I encourage you to do that REGARDLESS of what I have to offer.

By the way concerning this last post on Levi and Bristol, I am currently waiting for some new information that might completely change the direction of my post.  (Just so you know, I now believe the revelations I am working on to be the key to the truth behind Sarah's fake pregnancy.) If I am unable to get my hands on this new data I may have to publish my post without a clear conclusion. Much like I did with Two Babies.

As you are all aware over time more professionals weighed in and confirmed my findings from that post, and now most of us simply accept that there were in fact at LEAST two babies introduced as Trig Paxson Van Palin.

When I first published it I received a hell of a lot of blowback and I anticipate the same this time out.

And just to wrap up this post, and on the topic of "blowback," I am going to ask a favor of you.

Fred's "babygate" book is nearing completion, and the website is about to be rolled out for all of you to visit. However one of the concerns has been an anticipated attack, designed to derail the project and keep it from being published. This may be similar to the attack that Frank Bailey's first publishers suffered, and it will certainly be much like what Joe McGinniss has recently faced while publicizing The Rogue. (BTW Joe was originally scheduled to be on Real Time last night, but wasn't, so add Bill Maher to your list of cowards afraid of Sarah Palin and the corporations that back her.)

The reason I need your help is that the attacks now being readied against Fred's book are NOT coming from the Right Wing.  They may appear to be Palin supporters and conservatives that are throwing out accusations and attempting to undermine the validity of the findings, but they are NOT!

Just like the leaked e-mail used to derail Joe's book, the attacks on Fred's book will also be coming from those that many of you believe ONLY want the truth about Sarah Palin to reach the widest audience imaginable.

But some have an agenda focused solely on their OWN personal desire for fame and recognition, and will jealously and aggressively attack anybody who they feel is taking the limelight away from them.

Remind you of anybody?

So all that I ask is that you retain a healthy dose of skepticism, and consider the source before buying into what they say. I should not, at this point, have to indicate which blogs might be behind this, but I will suggest that the actual attacks will most likely come from Stacy McCain, Dan Riehl, or even Andrew Breitbart.

Though to be honest, now that Palin has made all of them look like fools, they may not be quite so anxious to provide cover for the Judas's that lurk among us. Which might actually serve to flush them out into the open.

So keep your eyes peeled and your ears perked, nothing about revealing the truth concerning Sarah Palin has EVER been easy and I do not expect the publication of Fred's book to be any different.

Oh well, if this job were easy the mainstream media would have done it.
