Tea Party darling Sarah Palin‘s recently launched video channel is not just a place where she can express her controversial conservative views: RadarOnline.com has learned that it’s an audition tape of sorts because the former Alaska governor is openly competing for a spot on The View!
“Sarah has been in talks with The View to become a part of the cast as the voice of the far right,” an insider revealed. “During talks, it was brought to Sarah’s attention that mainstream Americans haven’t heard from her in a while, despite her appearances on Fox News. Being very media savvy, Governor Palin decided to launch a video channel as a way to engage with more Americans, and prove to network executives that she can create buzz.”
“The one sticking point in the talks is how much time she will have to spend in New York City and away from her native Alaska,” the source continued. “She has proposed that she work three weeks a month in NYC, and then go back to Alaska. During sweeps, she would of course not take time off.”
I have already expressed my doubts that Palin would seriously consider taking an actual job on network TV, and especially the View. And after it was revealed that Rosie O'Donnell was coming back I thought that pretty much drove a stake through any idea that Palin would be on the show.
Not to mention that Rachel Maddow's executive producer is taking over The View.
However if Radar Online's sources are to be believed, it would appear that Palin is actively pursuing the idea, and that ABC is seriously considering it.
“Whoopi Goldberg has given her seal of approval for the hire, but Rosie O’Donnell isn’t sold on it,” the source continued. “She is concerned that Palin is just too controversial, and the show will become all about her.”
Yeah I can imagine that Whoopi would be all over the idea of having Palin to verbally bitchslap every morning, but why Palin would put herself in that situation is somewhat harder to imagine.
Unless of course that her money situation is even worse off then we have previously reported.
Still after watching how Elizabeth Hasselbeck was ridiculed and shut down over and over on the show, it would be hard to imagine that Palin would put herself on that panel.
Especially since she has spent her time since 2008 isolating herself as much as possible from any possible embarrassing questions, and making sure that she is surrounded by like minded people who will not judge her on her stupidity.
I mean going so far as to charge sycophants for the right to see you respond to current events and answer questions from the safety of a vanity website is just about as far removed as one can get from seeking public scrutiny.
All I can say is that if ABC is serious they better put a clause in her contract saying that if she quits halfway through she will have to pay them a truckload of money for their troubles.
In her contract it will state that she does not do research, must have her daughters as her paid makeup people, must never be asked about foreign policy, raising children, her marriage, or how many grandkids she has. She will also not appear with Bill Maher, Bill or Hillary, or anyone who has ever said a mean thing about her. She needs Big Gulps and bendy straws, a teleprompter with 48 type, and a free designer wardrobe, including new high shoes daily. If Todd is in town, he is to have no access to any starlets backstage, but Bristol can come on to anyone in trousers. Sarah gets to decide which segments she wants to hold a Mic in, and she will not pretend to like healthy food. She will, however, take extra,audience goody bags as often as possible. Oh, and if Rosie is one of those lezbeean s, Sarah cannot be seated beside her. Ever.

DeleteGiven the programming and hysterical headling grabbing news on our local ABC affiliate I haven't watched it for about five years. It became the rabbit ear Fox news and it seems every night is filled with breaking, fear mongering news item as their headline for an upcoming show. Problem is most of the time you never hear those stories on the other channels. Seeing all of that I could easily see ABC bringing in the water boobed wonder. I think they underestimate her draw. People will come in to see what she looks and sounds like and be turned off by her within a month. I know I'll leave it to others to tune her in and report back; and in a way it could be better because she will become cannon fodder for Whoopi and others. Let the games begin.

I don't for a minute think this will happen, but I would LOVE to see Sarah Palin on The View. Sarah Palin needs to be forgotten, but first she needs to be EXPOSED. What better way for that to happen but to let her hang herself? Most average not-very-politically-aware Americans have no idea about the real depth of her stupidity, ignorance, and deceptions. Whoopi and Rosie would be shocked themselves to make this discovery in a situation where she would have to think for herself and be expected to make sense expressing herself. Sure, she wouldn't last long, but View viewers would be googling her nonstop after one appearance and arriving at IM for the dirt. They will not believe what unscripted nonsense spews from her mouth without benefit of the filter of a thinking brain. I for one will not be happy until she is exposed before she is forgotten.

No one on The View is thinking seriously about her. She hasn't got the talent, brains, or nerve to be off-script in an unpredictable situation. And she doesn't have the ability to work those hours. She can't work that hard.
She wants to be flattered by being asked, and she's trolling for it, but I doubt if anyone else is taking it seriously.

If Sarah wanted to be on The View, she had no business taking $100. year subscriptions to her private TV channel. While she might be free to state her political views, she cannot run for office. So far, people who signed up for a two week trial subscription are finding that they can't cancel. It doesn't make sense to sell $100 subscriptions if Sarah was wanted to be on FREE network TV.

Only when prompted by Matt Lauer did she respond conversationally, and of course, it was all about her.
