Jason Chaffetz town hall erupts into chants of "Do your job!"

Courtesy of Vox:

Hundreds of people shouted down Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) at a town hall he held in his home district on Thursday night, with many yelling “Do your job!” at the chair of the House Oversight Committee.

Chaffetz has come under fire for taking few actions against either Donald Trump’s international business empire and the potential conflicts of interest it creates, or pushing Trump to release his tax returns. As the chair of the committee tasked with investigating “waste, fraud, and abuse” in the federal government, Chaffetz is perhaps the government official with the most power to check Trump’s unprecedented potential to leverage the White House for private gain.

But so far, Chaffetz has issued no subpoenas, called for no hearings, and scheduled no meetings to investigate Trump's potential abuse of the office. (He has asked the General Services Administration for documents related to Trump’s hotel in DC, and on Thursday called Kellyanne Conway “wrong, wrong, wrong” for publicly endorsing Ivanka Trump’s label.) Critics have pointed out that Chaffetz was relentless in his investigation of the executive branch during President Barack Obama’s administration, particularly over Hillary Clinton’s role in the Benghazi scandal.

And remember Chaffetz as recently as last month has said that he will continue investigating Hillary Clinton over that bullshit e-mail infraction, and yet he has done NOTHING about the almost countless infractions coming from Doanld Trump and his administration.

He is a partisan POS and I am VERY glad that he is being called out publicly for it.

I swear I am staring to get all excited again about the future of our country.

I just called my Senator's local office to ask when he was having in person availability to his constituents. I called 3 times and it rang busy every time. So I called another local office, same thing. Then I called 2 local offices for my other Senator. Same thing. Wow. I guess I will resort to e-mails but this is really amazing. America is waking up.

My senator (Dem MI) had a note on her email newsletter stating the lines have been very busy to send an email if you get a constant busy signal.

Obama may not be back with us yet, but Andrew Sullivan is. His first weekly article is great. He's still a practicing god-botherer, but nobody's perfect.

For those of you who remember his blog, The Daily Dish, this is good news. We are not alone.

" They acknowledged the need for a common set of facts in order for a liberal democracy to function at all. Trump’s lies are different. They are direct refutations of reality — and their propagation and repetition is about enforcing his power rather than wriggling out of a political conundrum. "Any lie is usually doubled down by another lie — along with an ad hominem attack."Here is what WE ARE supposed to do: rebut every single lie."The press must not be afraid of even calling the president a liar to his face if he persists"
"At the core of the administration of the most powerful country on earth, there is, instead, MADness."He delights in constantly provoking and surprising you, so that his monstrous EGO can be perennially fed. It’s less like living in a democracy than being a child trapped in a house where there is an abusive and unpredictable father, who will brook no reason, respect no counter-argument, admit no error, and always, always up the ante until catastrophe inevitably strikes. This is what I mean by the idea that we are living through an emergency."

Chaffetz's real job is to be a puppet of his donors, so in a way he IS doing his job, whether his constituents realize it or not.

I liked even better the folks outside who were chanting "Your last term...your last term." That's something we all need to start doing to our own Republican congresspeople.

"Trump has blown the George W. Bush standard out of the water by taking a foreign leader to his private resort for dinner and golf on the taxpayers’ dime. It would be much cheaper for Trump to take Abe to Camp David, but this president appears to have no concerns over wasting taxpayer money."

What about an investigation into spending $100,000 for secret service for Eric's business trip?

$100,000 for two days, does this include hookers?

Protestors Chanting 'Shame!' Swarm Event With Aides To 3 Georgia GOPers (VIDEO)

Yet another town hall on behalf of GOP lawmakers was taken over Friday by protestors who demanded answers about the Republicans' plans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act and vented their anger at the Trump administration.

Hundreds of protesters attended a “constituent service day” with aides to Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA), railing against the lawmakers and erupting into chants of "shame!", according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The lawmakers themselves were not present at the “mobile office hours” event, designed as a meeting with the lawmakers' aides in an east Georgia town so that constituents didn't have to travel all the way to Atlanta to have their voices heard. The aides appeared overwhelmed by the size and enthusiasm of the crowd, according to the Journal-Constitution.

Aides at first walked out of the room as protestors chanted "shame!", but then returned and one aide began to jot down complaints as residents spoke up, according to the report.

“I’ve never called my Congressman – ever – until four or five weeks ago,” Ron Denham told the publication. “These people need to represent us and our voice needs to get louder and louder and louder.”

Trump And His ‘Law And Order’ AG Sign Executive Orders Giving Cops Power To Shoot Black People

As soon as Sessions was sworn in, he stood with Trump as they announced three new executive orders giving cops even more power to murder with impunity and without consequence. Citing the “threat of rising crime” and “public safety” as his justifications, Trump just signed the death warrants of many more people of color at the hands of police. Trump says of the orders:

“I am directing the Department of Justice to reduce crimes and crimes of violence against law enforcement officers.”

“It’s a shame, what has been happening to our great, our truly great, law enforcement officers. That is going to stop today.”

Trump went on to basically threaten people with the orders, saying he was sending a “clear sign” to anyone who might put a toe out of line. He said to the would-be criminals:

“Your day is over. A new era of justice begins and it begins right now.”

One of the documents is said to “define new federal crimes, and increase penalties for existing federal crimes, in order to prevent violence” when it comes to cops getting shot. Of course, they had nothing to say regarding the scores of people who are killed by cops with no justification whatsoever. To compare, 2016 saw 135 cops killed, while 968 people were killed BY cops. So, yeah, the real problem here is violence, sure, but it’s not against the police.

Trump and Sessions know good and damn well who they are targeting here. It’s not people who look like them or their kids. It’s people of color who are often stopped by police for no good reason whatsoever.

Let’s face it — this will lead to more murder by cop and mass incarceration of people of color, which is, of course, exactly what racists like Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions want.

  18. The chanting needs to be "LAST TERM! LAST TERM!" at all of these town halls by as many protesters as possible every single time. The pressure must be kept up.

It will be extremely tiring. Keith Olbermann said it. But we must keep it up.
