California man's plan to launch himself 1,800 feet into the air to prove the earth is flat has been postponed. Wait, what's happening?

Mike Hughes said the Bureau of Land Management wouldn't approve his plan to use public land for Saturday's planned experiment, so he'll have to move the project to private land next week, the Washington Post reported. 

The 61-year-old limo driver said he had received verval approval from the same federal agency just last year, pending an OK from the federal Aviation Commission, the paper reported. 

Hughes added that engine trouble in his motor home, which was converted into a ramp, also affected his original launch plans. 

“It’s still happening. We’re just moving it three miles down the road,” Hughes told the Post on Friday. “This is what happens any time you have to deal with any kind of government agency.” 

Hughes said the rocket will take flight next week, from private property near the Mojave Desert, along Route 66.

If all goes according to plan, Hughes said his stunt will be the first phase of the flat-Earth space program, sponsored by Research Flat Earth, a group that believes Earth is flat.

Climate change deniers,  anti-evolutionists, and these flat earth idiots probably feel that with Donald Trump in office this is their time.

After all clearly facts no longer matter, and denying reality seems to be a winning strategy.

 However after taking a look at the rocket in that picture up above I think the only thing this Mike Hughes is going to prove is that the human body can disintegrate on impact.

No, you cannot sue Black Lives Matter.

The Black Lives Matter movement cannot be sued, a federal judge ruled Thursday, dismissing a case against the group and an activist brought by a police officer injured during protests after the July 2016 fatal shooting of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 

Black Lives Matter is not an entity, but a social movement, Louisiana Middle District Judge Brian A. Jackson wrote. "Therefore, all claims against 'Black Lives Matter' must be dismissed because social movements lack the capacity to be sued." 

The suing Baton Rouge police officer, who remained unnamed in the lawsuit, said he was hit by concrete or rock-like objects while responding to a demonstration led by DeRay Mckesson for Black Lives Matter and had "several serious injuries," according to court documents. 

Protests, vigils and memorials sprang up nationwide after the shooting of Sterling by police outside a Baton Rouge convenience store. In a graphic cellphone video that was widely shared on social media, police officers can be seen on top of the African-American man before shots were fired. 

The injured officer said Mckesson and Black Lives Matter were liable for his injuries because they were negligent and should have known the protests would turn to riots and become violent.

Well that is just ignorant.

It is too bad this officer was injured, but his anger is misplaced.

That would be like if you sued the free love movement in the 60's because a hippie got your daughter pregnant.  

Or if you sued Christianity because your grandmother gave her life savings to some televangelist.

I really feel that a lot of the anger and vitriol directed at BLM is the result of racism and that a lot of people really do not understand the movement.

You’ll not see my kids falsely charging someone with racism just because they disagree with an opinion. (No they just call them "faggot.")

But liberals slap that racist label on me – and any other conservative – simply to stop debate on any issue. What a tactic! It immediately puts you on the defensive. 

Racial tensions are mounting, and Americans are being divided. We don’t have “whites only” water fountains or “separate but equal” schools anymore, but, ironically, race relations in this country seemed to take a giant step backward under the presidency of Barack Obama. (Yes, because of the racists who came out of the woodwork in response to his candidacy. You know, that same ones that showed up at the McCain/Palin rallies.)

Slogans proclaiming “black lives matter” have clouded the truth that all lives matter. And, to show how crazy things are, both a college president and a Democrat politician have actually apologized for saying that “all lives matter,” as if that were somehow wrong. (They missed the point, as does Palin.)

But the fact is, we’re all created in God’s image. (The white Anglo-Saxon god that was inflicted on the native people in Alaska by the missionaries who punished them for speaking their own language and forcibly changed their names to ones plucked from the Bible? Does she mean THAT god?)


Not to nitpick, but I have known dozens and dozens of Alaska natives in my life, and not one of them ever called themselves an "Eskimo." 

As for Palin being a racist well she was quoted as saying she would not hire any blacks when she became governor, did nothing to help the people of Emmonak despite public outrage, and during her 2008 campaign rallies whipped the racists into a frenzy by constantly attacking Barack Obama as "the other."

I would argue that Palin actually planted the racist seeds in 2008 that Donald Trump harvested to become president in 2016.

So is Sarah Palin a racist?

BuzzFeed writer McKay Coppins attended the rally for the GOP presidential candidate and real estate mogul, reporting from the Westgate Hotel and Resort. Coppins posted video of a black protester being roughed up, with a supporter shouting, “Light that motherf*cker on fire!” 

The video, which Coppins posted to Twitter, shows an African-American man down on the ground, surrounded by burly security guards. A woman can be heard shouting, “Let him get up!” while a man screams, “Get your hands off him!” Trump can be heard continuing to speak to the crowd during the scuffle. A police officer intervenes and pulls the man to his feet right before the video ends. 

Coppins reports that Trump “gleefully narrates clashes between activists and security, press swarm with cameras/phones, supporters crowd around cheering. Surreal.” 

“Every time another activist gets dragged out of room, Trump berates reporters for taking pics,” Coppins reports. ‘They are terrible! The worst!’ Crowd boos.”

As bad as that was MSNBC reports that there was more:

As one man was dragged away, people in the crowd variously yelled, “Shoot him!” “Kick his ass,” and “Light the motherf—-r on fire!”

 A large middle aged man shouted, “Sieg heil!” — a Nazi Germany-era salute — as the protester was taken away. 

And there you have it.

Is it any wonder at this point why the Republican establishment is planning on a brokered convention?

Can we even imagine what this country would be like with Donald Trump as out President?

No seriously, don't try. You'll never be able to fall asleep again.

Hundreds of activists seeking to directly challenge federal control of swathes of territory in the U.S. West on Saturday drove dozens of all-terrain vehicles into protected land in Utah that is home to Native American artifacts and where such journeys are banned. 

The ride into Recapture Canyon, which comes amid heightened political tensions, is a protest against indecision by federal land managers on whether to reopen canyon trails to recreational vehicle use after more than seven years of study. 

About 300 people rallied at a nearby park before dozens of people, some of them armed with guns, set off in about 60 ATVs down a closed-off trail, which winds through red rock desert. The local sheriff had armed officers on horseback monitoring the protest.

You can always tell the Teabaggers by their protest signs. You know it is time to "tranfer" federal lands.

 I think it makes perfect sense for these assholes to ride their motorized ponies through protected land over Native American artifacts. After all it was probably their ancestors who handed out those small pox infected blankets to the Indians.

However it was not simply history and government workers who were disturbed by the antics of these yahoos.

A land dispute in Southeastern Utah has derailed an event for military veterans. 

"On Sunday we were going to go through a traditional Navajo Warrior welcoming home ceremony," said Stacy Bare, an Iraq War Veteran, who has been coordinating the weekend event for 20 veterans in the wilderness near Blanding, Utah. 

In light of recent protests in the region between citizens and the feds, Bare and his comrades are worried protestors could get out-of-hand, so they canceled the veterans project. 

"There's plenty of opportunities to ride ATV's and RV's and if people are upset with the government there's opportunities for due process," said Bare. "It's just a real shame." 

Indian artifacts, federally protected lands, war veterans, do any of these really matter if you can't selfishly ride your off road vehicles whenever, and wherever, you want to?

Esquire takes a long peek at the goings on at the Cliven Bundy ranch that Fox News and the Right Wing are desperate for you not to see.

At the Bundy camp last week, pundits and politicians descended on Bunkerville, Nevada, to throw in their American flag hats with the BLM protestors. A FOX news van had been parked by the side of the road for days. Up on the ridge, militia snipers kept a trained watch as Bundy held court, and disciples from far and wide came to share their personal theories as to why the government was enforcing a court order. 

But on Thursday, we witnessed a mainstream exodus from Bundy’s flank. Sean Hannity, Bundy’s biggest booster, called his racist remarks “beyond despicable,” but maintained that they should not taint the supporters who “for the right reasons saw this case as government overreach.” 

Exactly how difficult was it, though, to determine pretty early on that Bundy and his followers were using the threat of force to back up some terrifyingly misguided beliefs? 

During the few hours I visited last week, this was what was said.

Some of the things the Esquire reporter saw almost defies description, but here is a taste.

Openly discussed racism:

It’s dizzying and hot at the camp, and a very friendly man named Roy, wearing an Obama t-shirt with a joker smile painted on, hands me a cold bottle. He's from nearby Mesquite and has been a close friend and supporter of Bundy's these last few years. When I tell him I’m from New Mexico, the former cop says he has a very good buddy who used to work as a sheriff in my area. 

“He got in a bit of trouble,” he chuckles. “He pulled over a carload of illegals one night, didn’t have room to haul ‘em all, so he put a chain around their neck and put a padlock through it, went to the next one, then he chained ‘em to a tree!” 

He buckles with laughter as the story heats up. “Then he left ‘em and went to town to get his pickup to haul ‘em all back in. So, you might imagine, that didn’t play well — ha! You’re a young’un, but everything wasn’t against the law, way back when.”

Cliven Bundy religious prophet:

The crowd, fresh off their victory at the Battle of Bunkerville, gives Bundy a standing ovation. But he doesn’t seem pleased. He reproaches the crowd for failing to follow the word of God – to the letter – which he says is being delivered through him. They failed, for example, to follow his instructions to tear down the toll booths at Lake Mead and disarm the Park Service. 

"The message I gave to you all was a revelation that I received. And yet not one of you can seem to even quote it.” 

Cliven continues, sermon-like: "The records of our bible — how long have they been kept? Thousands of years. They’ve been turned over generation after generation, buried, and all kinds of things happen to ‘em. And yet, here, something I felt was inspired [by God] and yet we haven’t even carried it forth for even a couple of days. Shame on us.” Smattering of clapping. 

He goes on to explain that, although they managed to deter the BLM, they failed to do it "within one hour," as the revelation had prophesied. So when an hour passes, he decides to get in his bulldozer and march on the BLM himself. The dozer gets stuck in the mud and he receives another revelation. 

“It come to my mind real plain — the good Lord said, ‘Bundy, it’s not your job, it’s THEIR job.’ So we come back over here and heard that they had brought some cattle back. So I want you to understand,” addressing the crowd, "This is not my job, it’s YOUR job.

Wingnuts of all shapes and sizes:

Clearly the longer that any sensible person spends around Bundy and his group of radicals, the more clear it becomes that his ranch has become a kind of gathering place for all of the Alex Jones conspiracy theorists (Yesterday they went after Glenn Beck), angry racists, and trigger happy sovereign citizens types that were within walking, driving, or hitchhiking range.

 If the BLM were smart they would simply sit back and let this powder keg smolder a little longer, because I think it is only a matter of time before these lunatics get bored and start looking around the ranch for someone to take their inner range out on.

Things could get mighty interesting in old Bunkerville before too long.

In the meantime, at least the citizens of Nevada know where all he crazy people are hanging out.

Local news outlet reveals that rancher Cliven Bundy is lying about his rights. Could have knocked me over with a feather.

"I've lived my lifetime here. My forefathers have been up and down the Virgin Valley here ever since 1877. All these rights that I claim, have been created through pre-emptive rights and beneficial use of the forage and the water and the access and range improvements," Bundy said. 

Clark County property records show Cliven Bundy's parents moved from Bundyville, Arizona and bought the 160 acre ranch in 1948 from Raoul and Ruth Leavitt. 

Water rights were transferred too, but only to the ranch, not the federally managed land surrounding it. Court records show Bundy family cattle didn't start grazing on that land until 1954. 

The Bureau of Land Management was created 1946, the same year Cliven was born. 

"My rights are before the BLM even existed, but my rights are created by beneficial use. Beneficial use means we created the forage and the water from the time the very first pioneers come here," Bundy said.

"My rights are before the BLM even existed."

Only true if you are VERY bad at math.

This fight has been raging for 20 years, and the entire time Bundy has claimed that his family has been utilizing that land since 1877. That is a lie.

Whether you agree with his position or not, the fact that he fudged his family history in order to create a certain western frontier mythology, should have people stepping back and reevaluating his motives.

Especially before they get shot trying to defend them.

Now if you want to talk about a group who have an actual case....

 I wonder how many teabaggers and militia members would ride out and take their sniper positions to support THIS group?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

The Bundy Ranch standoff, a foreshadowing of things to come?

The weekend showdown marked the latest resurgence of violent, anti-government sentiments that have existed in rural America for centuries, said Catherine Stock, a history professor at Connecticut College who specializes in rural militias. 

"The question is whether we're going to see sustained flame-up now. We could see more of that if they actually think that the federal government is going to stand down," she said. 

"It's not the groups, it's not their concerns, it's not their anger, all of that is old, but the federal government backing down? I was like, wow! Seriously?" 

Stock said the rise of right-wing media outlets and websites and the election of Republican politicians who have shifted the party further to the right have given a new legitimacy to groups that were once dismissed as being on the fringe. 

At least half a dozen state legislators from Nevada, Washington, Utah and Arizona attended protest rallies in Bunkerville at the weekend. 

Michele Fiore, a Republican Nevada assemblywoman from Las Vegas who said she joined the protesters daily after getting a torrent of supportive emails about Bundy from constituents, called the resistance "justified." 

"This is historic," she said. "This is the first time we went arm to arm with the federal government."

What happened last weekend could very likely be a seminal event which determines how these sovereign citizen types deal with law enforcement moving forward.

There were reportedly over a thousand armed men willing to engage the BLM and Federal agents in a firefight, over unpaid taxes.

Many of these men had no military training, or if they did it was decades earlier in their lives.

They had no consistent chain of command, and no clear idea of what would determine the right time to fire their weapons.

That means that those agents were in an incredibly dangerous situation, where one trigger happy moron could fire the bullet that resulted in one of the largest massacres in American history.

And that is EXACTLY what the Right Wing is waiting, and hoping for. They want somebody to die at the hands of the federal government, regardless of who fired the first shot, so that they can make them a martyr and essentially move this country toward a civil war.

Never before have the indications been this clear that the conservatives in this country are so angry that they are losing power, and that America is moving toward a more liberal viewpoint, that they are willing to rip the country in half in a desperate attempt to stop the inevitable.

Think I'm exaggerating? I only wish that I were: 

A Tea Party Facebook page called Overpasses for America, clinching just over 79,000 supporters, is calling for a “Shot Heard Around the United States” day on April 19th. The post, showing a picture of a large group of men firing rifles in the air simultaneously in front of a barn, calls on every gun owner to fire into the air at the same time: 

“April 19th, 2014… 12 NOON Eastern Standard Time Every gun owner in the USA is asked to fire their weapon at the same time. Spread the word, share everywhere.” 

April 19th is also the day, in 1775, when the start of the Revolutionary War began. This is the same page who posted a status calling for Harry Reid to be imprisoned for his “deal with Communist China that led to the stand off at Bundy Ranch.” The page, in the last few days, has been riddled with many pictures and articles detailing the fiasco at the Bundy Ranch, calling Bundy and his supporters ‘Patriots’ and seeking to end the ‘bogus lies’ about the stand-off.

 Mark my words, there will be a first shot fired into an actual person at some point in the near future.

And when that happens, the only question remaining is for how long after will the gunfire continue.

When people angrily ask me why I am so against American citizens having access to military style weapons, I often think that in due time they will become too shocked by the violence to ever ask me again.
