NBC reporter asks Rick Perry if he is "smart enough to be President of the United States." Best question ever!

GOV. RICK PERRY: I think over the course of the last two years, people, you know, they realize that what they saw in 2011 is certainly not the person they're looking at in 2013, 2014, 2015. 

KASIE HUNT, MSNBC: And are you smart enough to be president of the United States?" 

PERRY: I think the standpoint of life's experiences. Running for the presidency is not an IQ test. It is a test of an individual's resolve. It's a test of an individual's philosophy. It is a test of an individual's life's experiences. And I think Americans are really ready for a leader that will give them a great hope about the future.

Yeah but she asked a question, and he never answered it.

You know a smarter person might have been able to do that. 

And no, running for the presidency is NOT an IQ test. But as Sarah Palin learned to her great consternation IQ does in fact play a significant role in preparing a candidate to answer reporters' questions.

And she also demonstrated that wearing glasses is not enough to project an air of intelligence.

A pill to lower your IQ.

Not to brag but I would have to take two of the Minus 50 pills in order to get my IQ anywhere near a certain half term Governor's IQ.

However if being too smart is wrong, I don't want to be right.

If being right means being a dummy, I'd rather live a wrongdoing life.

Alaskan man files lawsuit compelling state to question President Obama's eligibility to run for office. Doesn't think Nancy Pelosi is eligible either.

'Hey, I hear according to Right Wing morons you're not eligible to run for office. Welcome to the club."

A Juneau man has filed a lawsuit trying to compel the state of Alaska to prove that President Obama is qualified to be on the ballot. 

Gordon Warren Epperly claims in the lawsuit filed in Juneau Superior Court that Obama's citizenship status is unknown, and that Obama was illegally inaugurated in 2009, KTOO reported. 

He also claims that Obama, by taking office, has committed a crime of trying to overthrow the U.S. government. Epperly is acting as his own attorney. 

The lawsuit is seeking the state Division of Elections to obtain a physical, "verified" copy of Obama's birth certificate. 

Epperly also questions U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi's right to run for federal office. He claims that as a woman, Pelosi has no inherent right to be a U.S. citizen or to hold office. 

"There are no provisions in the Constitution of the United States that grants Women 'Political Rights' of Suffrage to hold any Political Office of the United States Government," the lawsuit says.

God just when I was relieved to learn the LAST insanity attributed to an Alaskan was a prank, this guy shows up!

Gee I wonder what his motivation is for questioning Obama's eligibility? Which by the way, after already serving four years, is a moot point.

And one has to wonder, since he is challenging Pelosi based on the fact that she is not a man, HOW he felt about Alaska's first female governor? I mean I didn't hear this guy challenging whether Sarah Palin could hold office due to her lack of a penis, did any of you?

You know I would move to Canada, except that would cause the intelligent quotient for the state to drop at least 20 points. Fucking idiots!

Paul Krugman finally recognizes the reason why Republicans are so aggressively attacking education in this country.

For the past couple of generations, choosing a less expensive school has generally meant going to a public university rather than a private university. But these days, public higher education is very much under siege, facing even harsher budget cuts than the rest of the public sector. Adjusted for inflation, state support for higher education has fallen 12 percent over the past five years, even as the number of students has continued to rise; in California, support is down by 20 percent. 

One result has been soaring fees. Inflation-adjusted tuition at public four-year colleges has risen by more than 70 percent over the past decade. So good luck on finding that college “that has a little lower price.” 

Another result is that cash-strapped educational institutions have been cutting back in areas that are expensive to teach — which also happen to be precisely the areas the economy needs. For example, public colleges in a number of states, including Florida and Texas, have eliminated entire departments in engineering and computer science. 

The damage these changes will inflict — both to our nation’s economic prospects and to the fading American dream of equal opportunity — should be obvious. So why are Republicans so eager to trash higher education? 

It’s not hard to see what’s driving Mr. Santorum’s wing of the party. His specific claim that college attendance undermines faith is, it turns out, false. But he’s right to feel that our higher education system isn’t friendly ground for current conservative ideology. And it’s not just liberal-arts professors: among scientists, self-identified Democrats outnumber self-identified Republicans nine to one.

As most of you know I have been making the point, for quite some time now, that the reason Republicans are trying to undermine education, by promoting the voucher system, Christian schools, and home schooling, is that they understand that ONLY the most undereducated Americans are willing to believe their bullshit and vote for them.  (Which by the way was probably NEVER better illustrated than in a clip on last night's Real Time filmed by Alexandra Pelosi.)

What they want is for people to put their critical thinking skills in neutral and just BELIEVE in their political message, without using that rather unnecessary organ, the brain, to THINK about what they are really being told.



If the GOP can just find a way to lower the nation's IQ, to say the Palin family's level, then THEY can dominate politics in this country for decades to come.

I am just glad that journalists like Paul Kruger are FINALLY putting the pieces together.

Hopefully it's not too late.
