Here is the article Ella Dawson wrote about her experiences as a target of some of the most hateful rhetoric on the internet.

Her crime?

She wrote honestly about living with an STD.

Over the last two years, I’ve become something of an Alt-right meme. “Free speech activist” Mike Cernovich has tweeted about me at least three times to his 91,000 Twitter followers, each mention resulting in a wave of sickening, abusive tweets sent directly to my cell phone. Even if Mike’s tweets weren’t all that upsetting (a five-year-old could come up with something better than “Ugly and has herpes”), the ones his followers sent me were pretty scarring. Let’s just say that they’re fond of the c-word.

When I created an STD Awareness Month campaign called #ShoutYourStatus with some of my friends earlier this year, it caught the eye of the editor at large of InfoWars, Paul Joseph Watson. He recorded a five-minute YouTube video screaming about how vile we were. “I don’t think we should be that surprised that feminists are bragging about their STDs,” Watson concludes. “After all, they’re so fat and ugly, the mere fact that they’re having any kind of sex at all is a massive achievement.”

It goes on, and gets even uglier, from there. 

You know I get my fair share of trolls here on IM, and on Twitter.

However I am me, and I know that if any of these candy asses were in the same room with me they would lower their eyes and stare at the floor in the hopes that I would not notice them.

However women have a much tougher time of it. For some reason men feel that they are every woman's superior and that they can humiliate them, victimize them, and ridicule them without fear of any repercussions.

And on the internet that is exacerbated by the anonymity which it provides.

That is why Hillary Clinton's presidential run has faced some of the ugliest, most hateful comments, that one can imagine.

It is not because she is a Democrat. It is not because she is a politician. And it is not because she used a private server, the Benghazi attack happened on her watch, or she coughs too much.

It is because she is a woman.

Which I find odd because I have worked with women my entire adult life, and I have NEVER found their gender to interfere with their productivity, professionalism, or ability to relate to their coworkers.

And I will tell you what, I cannot think of ANY man who would openly write about having herpes on the internet.

So rather than feel that this woman should be the subject of ridicule I am actually incredibly impressed with her honesty and her courage.

Perhaps that is what upsets certain men about this young lady and our Democratic nominee. They have the honesty and courage which they themselves are lacking entirely.

President Obama's 2017 budget cuts all funding to Abstinence Only education in this country.

Earlier today, February 9, 2016, the president released his fiscal year (FY) 2017 budget, the final budget of his administration, which continues to demonstrate his strong commitment to supporting the sexual health of our nation’s youth through age-appropriate, medically accurate, and science-based programs. In addition, the President has shown leadership in efforts to rid our nation of abstinence-only-until-marriage (AOUM) funding once and for all by not only eliminating the competitive AOUM program, but also including a legislative proposal to eliminate the Title V AOUM state grant program currently authorized at $75 million for FY 2017. 

Choosing instead to focus on investing in programs that support youth access to the information and education they need to lead sexually healthy lives, the president’s FY 2017 budget request proposes increased investment in the Office of Adolescent Health’s (OAH) Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPPP) and maintains current funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH).

Can I just mention how great it is to have a President to recognizes science and understands that shaming teenagers into not having sex has NEVER been an effective method of preventing teen pregnancy or the spread of disease.

Of course as we know this is the very same budget that the Republicans rejected before they even saw it.

Still if the President manages to make these changes, and let's face it he is getting more done these days than ever before, it will be good news indeed for the young people of this country.

Okay well maybe not ALL of the young people of this country.

But let's face it, it's too late for this one anyway.

Texas school teaches abstinence only sex education. Chlamydia arrives to teach them the error of their ways.

The superintendent of schools in Crane, Texas is rethinking the districts sexual education curriculum, after learning that 20 of the high schools 300 students have tested positive for chlamydia. 

Jim Rummage told television station KFOR, "We do have an abstinence curriculum, and that evidently ain’t working. We need to do all we can, although it’s the parents’ responsibility to educate their kids on sexual education.” 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention isn't mincing any words, calling the outbreak a health issue of epidemic proportions.

I love this part about the abstinence program, "That evidently ain't working."

Gee ya think?

There is already exhaustive research which proves that abstinence education does not work and yet due to mostly religiously driven fears sexuality people are still buying into the idea that telling a hormonal teenager not to let their naughty bits touch will actually work.

It does not work, and it never has.

Hell, I'M proof of that.

It is just too bad that so many of these kids had to come down with STDs before the adults in their lives were able to recognize their ignorance.

Analysis shows that those Planned Parenthood videos were purposefully altered to give false impression. Gee, really?

The undercover Planned Parenthood videos that spurred a congressional investigation were so severely manipulated that they wouldn't hold up in court, according to an analysis by three teams of forensic experts. 

Planned Parenthood hired independent research firm Fusion GPS to investigate the validity of the first five "sting" videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, an anti-abortion group. 

Glenn Simpson, a partner at the firm and a former Wall Street Journal reporter, assembled three teams of neutral experts to comb through the tapes using special video software. He said the teams found that all of the videos analyzed -- even the supposedly "full," unedited footage the CMP released -- were missing large sections of time and misleadingly altered so that separate conversations appeared to take place in an uninterrupted take. Moreover, the forensic team found that the transcripts CMS released with the videos were frequently erroneous. 

"It appears they commit what I would call 'wishful thinking' about what was said," Simpson told reporters Thursday.

So not only were the videos used to attack Planned Parenthood altered, but even the so-called "unedited" versions, which already undermined the premise that Planned Parenthood was selling fetal tissue for a profit, were changed to push forward a false impression. 

Color me unsurprised.

And yet THIS is what is being used to once again launch an attack against women's access to legal abortion services, as well as cancer screenings and important information about contraception and STD's.

Parents file lawsuit against California school for teaching abstinence only sex education classes, and they win!

A judge in Fresno County, California, has ruled against an abstinence-only sex education program, saying a school district violated state law by failing to provide adequate instruction on sexual health and HIV prevention. 

Fresno County Superior Court Judge Donald Black said a lawsuit against Clovis Unified School District was justified because the district failed to offer "comprehensive, medically accurate, objective and bias-free" education, in violation of the California Comprehensive Sexual Health & HIV/AIDS Prevention Act, adopted in 2003. The law requires public schools to "provide a pupil with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect his or her sexual and reproductive health from unintended pregnancy and STDs." 

"Given the high social cost of teen pregnancy and similar toll on society of HIV/ADIS [sic] and other sexually transmitted diseases, the rights vindicated by this suit, access to medically, and socially appropriate sexual education, is an important public right," Black wrote.

I have to admit that I was both shocked, and amazed by this ruling.

You mean there is a state in this country that is so reasonable that it is against the law to teach sex education courses to children which slut shames teenage girls and attacks contraceptive products as ineffective?

What madness is this?

You know I would say that this makes California the perfect place for liberals to raise your children if it wasn't for the fact that the state is always on fire and dry as a bone.

I only hope that this is going to set a precedent, and that other states will soon start suing schools that provide misinformation about contraception and lies to kids about sex.

Mississippi abstinence only sex education course compares girls to dirty peppermint patties. No longer "clean and valuable" after she had been handled.

Marie Barnard was delighted when, after decades of silence on the topic, Mississippi passed a law requiring school districts to teach sex education. But the lesson involving the Peppermint Pattie wasn't what she had in mind for her sons. 

The curricula adopted by the school district in Oxford called on students to unwrap a piece of chocolate, pass it around class and observe how dirty it became. 

"They're using the Peppermint Pattie to show that a girl is no longer clean or valuable after she's had sex — that she's been used," said Barnard, who works in public health. "That shouldn't be the lesson we send kids about sex." 

She and other parents lobbied the district to teach about contraception, not just abstinence. After all, as she and other parents noted, 76% of Mississippi teenagers report having sex before the end of high school. 

Mississippi has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the country, with 50 births per 1,000 females aged 15 to 19 in 2011 — compared with 31 per 1,000 nationally. A third of all babies born in Mississippi are to teenage mothers. Access to contraceptives is low, especially in some rural areas where drug stores have been known to refuse to sell condoms to minors. 

Once again it is so helpful of religion to forever leave the burden of chastity with the woman, while giving men a free pass.

A girl who engages in consensual sex before marriage, is a dirty piece of mint filled confection, that is now all disgusting and unfit for love. While a man who sticks his willie in every piece of tail that passes his way, is considered experienced and celebrated by his peers.

A boy who has sex becomes a man. A girl who does the same becomes a slut.

In this day and age the hypocrisy is almost impossible to believe, and yet in some communities it as unchanged as it was back in the days when young men bartered with fathers for the virginity of their daughters, as one would barter for a for any other piece of property or livestock.

However there are a valiant few who desperately try to bring the ignorant into the 21st Century with the rest of us.

Sanford Johnson, deputy outreach coordinator for Mississippi First, an education policy group, encountered these values while addressing the school board in Hollandale, a dusty, rural community with a dilapidated downtown of shuttered stores and peeling paint. 

Johnson thought he had made a good case for contraception education when he shared disturbing statistics: The local birthrate was 73 out of 1,000 females between 15 and 19; the national rate is 29.4 per 1,000. 

He encountered the usual gasps of shock when he revealed that the rate of chlamydia, at 1,346.8 per 100,000 people, was nearly double the rest of Mississippi, and approaching triple the U.S. rate. 

But later Johnson got a call from someone who had attended the board meeting — telling him that people who have sex before marriage don't go to heaven. The board voted for abstinence-only. 

 "People who have sex before marriage don't go to heaven."

And that my friends is when you stand up and walk away.

Because despite the rash of teen pregnancies and the chlamydia epidemic there is no hope of convincing these idiots of anything.

For them all they need to know about love, marriage, and sex, is contained in a misogynistic text, written thousands of years ago, by a group of men who clearly feared and despised women.
