Fox's Todd Starnes interviews Franklin Graham about Supreme Court decision on marriage equality so you know this will be ridiculous.

While it is a sad day for America when the Supreme Court will "endorse sin," Graham vowed that "I will never recognize it in my heart" because "God gave us marriage and God does not change his mind." 

Graham went on to warn Christians that "you had better be ready and you had better be prepared" because the wholesale persecution of Christianity will now be unleashed, as will, ultimately, God's judgment on this nation. 

"I do believe that God's judgment will come on this nation," he said, noting that just as God brought judgment upon the nation of Israel in the Bible, so too will He bring judgment on America.

Of course Graham's assertion that marriage was given to us by his Christian god is absurd.

In fact marriage, both polygamist and monogamist, existed many of thousands of years before Christianity, and even Judaism.

Not only that but there are societies that do not even recognize a deity where marriage is just as important as it is to religious assholes like Graham.

Christians seem determined to take ownership of marriage, as if the marital unions of those from other religions or secularists were somehow illegitimate by comparison.

It is that kind of arrogance which is causing people to leave the Christian church in droves.

Televangelist James Robison suggests that we should replace every member of Congress with a conservative Christian because it will make "the demons shudder."

On his "Life Today" program this morning, James Robison interviewed Todd Starnes about his recent book "God Less America" and the two agreed that if conservative Christians in America could simply come together, they could save this nation by voting every member of Congress out of office and make "the demons shudder!" 

"This is the thing you’ve got to understand as a Christian," Robison said. "In a democracy where the majority rules and where we're the ones who choose, then those we choose reflect the heart conscious and convictions of those who vote or who don't vote. Too many Christians have checked out. You've been told it's politically incorrect for church people to be involved. That's one of the biggest lies that ever came through the lips of Satan. Do not believe it! Of all people on this earth that ought to stand up and protect the precious and be light to illuminate the way out of this present and pressing darkness, we're the ones to do it." 

"Hey, government, we can take control," he continued. "There are only 500 of you. We can get rid of the whole bunch in one smooth swoop and we can really reroute the whole ship! ... All hell is trembling — the gates of hell tremble. The very fact that people who love God and know God and love their neighbor, whatever stand up, speak up, and become a shining city set on a hill, oh, the demons shudder!" 

Well I don't know about shuddering demons but the idea of  a Congress filled with conservative Christians certainly makes the hairs on MY neck stand straight up. 

Could you imagine the government jam packed with superstitious idiots who did not trust science, want complete control over women's reproductive systems, and who believed that any minute Jesus would come back if only they could start enough wars in the Middle East?

I think that should make the entire country shudder.

By the way who was surprised to see Todd Starnes there nodding his fat head in agreement? Because I certainly wasn't.

Even Fox News recognizes that America is NOT a Christian nation.

The argument that America was at its founding and remains a nation Christian in character has served as cover for a variety of racist and nativist sentiments for generations. The insistence that the United States is explicitly Christian arises from the assumption that a majority of citizens have been members of one church or another since the nation’s founding. Yet historians have estimated the number of American church-goers in 1776 to be only around 350,000 -- less than a fifth of the population. 

Christianity as a cultural force was certainly more influential than that, and many Americans no doubt considered themselves Christians whether or not they attended church. What do these uncounted non-Christians do to the idea that America began as a “Christian nation”?

Yeah I know this is only on the Opinion page on the Fox News website, but still just the fact that they allow it on their site is a good sign.  As is the fact that many of the comments on that page are in support of the author's point of view.

Personally I would like to be a fly on the wall when that Todd "War on Christmas" Starnes moron reads this article.

And as you can see he is foot stomping mad that other cable networks did not cover the funeral of murdered NYPD officer Rafael Ramos adequately.

Except you know what, they kind of did.

Now, before going any further, we should make several things clear. Firstly, Fox News did cover the memorial multiple times over the course of the morning. Fox & Friends covered it in several segments and they had live shots outside the church where the service was being held. There were a few live reports scattered throughout Fox’s Cost of Freedom business block, and right after that two-hour block they did cover what happened at the memorial service in detail. 

Fox also made live streams of the memorial service available online for people to watch the speeches by Vice President Joe Biden, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Governor Andrew Cuomo, and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton, but that wouldn’t exactly come close to the kind of reach it would have for Fox to cover the service live. 

But both CNN and MSNBC devoted more live, on-air coverage to the memorial service than Fox did. It was the only thing that CNN was covering for several hours, and that network carried the entire memorial service live. MSNBC only carried Biden’s speech live, but they also featured various live shots from reporters and interviews talking about the memorial service and the issues raised by it. 

Fox, again, covered the memorial service before it started but did not cover any of it live. Its regular programming went on as usual, interrupted briefly by various short updates.

What a tool.

No wonder Sarah Palin only phoned in her appearance on his truly terrible Christmas special.

Okay so the other day I was poking fun at the Pillsbury dough boy here and his upcoming Christmas special, and I described his lineup as follows: 

As you can see the program features a who's who from the "I have never heard of these people" list. And of course Sarah Palin, who is only a handful of years away from being added to that list.

So as all of you know I just say stuff. I really don't think that anybody is paying attention most of the time.

Especially the person who is the subject of my posts.

But this time I may have been wrong about that. Because as it turned out Palin herself may not have wanted to be included on a list of "I have never heard of these people."

So instead of flying out to the Fox News studio, Palin simply phoned it in. Literally.

Here is how Wonkette covered it:

Sarah Palin, phoning it in from Wasilla, Up-There-In-Alaska. Because Jesus might be the reason for the season, but he’s not reason enough to hop a plane to show up in person. 

The other reason for the season, besides Jesus, is a reminder to buy Sarah Palin’s book about the “War on Christmas,” which apparently was inspired by none other than Todd Starnes and his coverage of those who would “take Christ out of Christmas” — by failing to buy Sarah’s book, we assume. So to be clear not only did Palin NOT show up in person for the "special," but she also took up valuable airtime hawking last year's ghostwritten Christmas book that nobody bothered to buy in 2013.

Now I have to admit that I don't watch Christmas specials anymore, but my memory of them were that they had actual people who showed in person up to perform, like the Mandrell Sisters, Jose Feliciano, Johnny Mathis, Mariah Carey, and so on. All dressed up in suits and beautiful gowns to entertain the audience.

I simply cannot think of a single incident where a guest simply phoned in their appearance so that they could stay home in their pajamas and drink instead.  Can you?

I think that indicates just how little Palin thought of Todd Starnes and his "Christmas special" jam packed with people nobody had every even fucking heard of.

And trust me, if you cannot even get Sarah Palin to show up at your event you have really sunk to a new low. That woman once showed up at a bowling alley trade show for fuck's sake, and yet she would not show up for this.

Damn, that's gotta hurt!

Sarah Palin and the "Grift that stole Christmas."

Well I already shared with you Palin's attempts to trick people into buying that crappy Christmas book of hers again, but as it turns out that is only the beginning of her attempts to sell you sub-par products.

Palin is also pimping a Fox News holiday special with Todd Starnes, who is so freaked out about the imagined "War on Christmas" that he is apparently constantly stuffing his face with comfort food to calm himself down.

As you can see the program features a who's who from the "I have never heard of these people" list. And of course Sarah Palin, who is only a handful of years away from being added to that list.

But Palin is not finished yet.

Her Facebook page also features a promo for a Christmas song by the world's worst band Madison Rising, that is SO bad you will probably want to ask Santa for a new set of eardrums.

Such as older brother Chuck, who is now just outright begging for money, so that he can take pretty pictures and put together some kind of book that will never sell.

You know as somebody who is undoubtedly counted as a member of "the Left" I have to wonder which American value I am declaring war on? I support virtually everything in the Bill of Rights, though I do think the wording in the 2nd Amendment could use a little tightening up, and think the Constitution is a brilliant document which deserves to be respected and protected.

In fact I have values coming out of my liberal ass.

There is nowhere in the Constitution which proclaims Christianity as the nation's religion, and it does not give ANY religion the right to insert itself into our public schools, our government, or insist that it be used as a litmus test for choosing Senators, Congressmen, or judges in this country.

Sadly that is now how Palin and her ilk read the founding documents.

This Todd Starnes guy has been a favorite of Palin's ever since he started his crusade to protect Christianity from the terrible influence of logic, facts, and common sense.

Of course this is the same guy who recently compared Atheists to Hitler, and was recently caught promoting a fake story about Christian persecution in public schools.

Essentially Todd Starnes is like a male version of Sarah Palin. Exhibiting histrionic responses to criticism, a persecution complex, and an aversion to comprehensive research.

A Fox News correspondent has been busted again for pushing a one-sided story claiming religious persecution of Christians. 

Todd Starnes helped promote a story about a California first-grader who allegedly was not allowed to give a one-minute presentation about her family’s Christmas tradition because it included religious references. 

He quoted an Advocates for Faith and Family attorney who claimed the girl’s teacher ordered her to take a seat Dec. 19 and wouldn’t allow her to finish. 

“The disapproval and hostility that Christian students have come to experience in our nation’s public schools has become epidemic,” said attorney Robert Tyler, warning the family might sue if the school district didn’t apologize and change its policies on religious expression.

It should come as no surprise to most of us who know this little weasel's work, that this fabricated story did not match the real facts.

The girl was the only student who read from a prepared statement during a brief sharing exercise intended to improve students’ public speaking skills, the teacher said, and she asked her to cut short the statement due to limited time. 

The teacher denies telling the girl to sit down, instead allowing her to take one question from another student. 

“At no time did I ever tell the student that she could not read the bottom section [of her statement] because it was a Bible verse nor did she ask if she could finish,” said teacher Tammy Williams. “I never told her to ‘Stop right there!’ or ‘Go take your seat!’ or reprimand her in front of the class for sharing from the Bible. It just did not happen.” 

Paradise said she met with the following day with the girl’s parents, who were upset because they thought she was unable to finish her presentation because of its biblical content. 

The principal said neither parent claimed bullying or humiliation by teachers, which she said was made up by the religious legal group, and she has not heard from the parents since presenting her findings about the incident Dec. 24 to the school board. 

Paradise said she stood behind the teacher, and both she and Williams complained that Tyler and his group had misrepresented the incident and damaged their reputations. 

“What saddens me is that this story was twisted into lies and brought to the media,” Williams said. “I have never sat down and discussed this directly with the family or the student. I am instead being used to push an agenda for the Advocates for Faith and Freedom.”

No wonder Palin likes this guy, he has as much trouble telling the truth as she does. 

You know whenever I hear yet another story of supposed persecution of Christians I always remember the words of Jon Stewart.
