Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Pelosi joins Murtha. Now we are talking!
Okay Democrats let's keep it going! And by the way it is not called "cutting and running", it is called "coming to our fucking senses"!
Is George Bush trying to reach Heaven by standing on a pile of Iraqi and American corpses?
Bush intends to prevail.
While he may, under domestic pressure, bring 10,000 or 20,000 or even 50,000 troops home, he has no intention of ending this war.
As Seymour Hersh notes in the latest issue of The New Yorker, Bush plans on replacing a reliance on U.S. troops with a reliance on U.S. bombers.
“Departing American troops will be replaced by American airpower,” Hersh writes. “Quick, deadly strikes by U.S. warplanes are seen as a way to improve dramatically the combat capability of even the weakest Iraqi combat units.”
Already, “the tempo of American bombing seems to have increased,” Hersh reports. And he cites a Pentagon press release that notes that one Marine aircraft unit alone has “dropped more than 500,000 tons of ordnance.”
This could lead to a much higher civilian death toll in Iraq, which is now at least 27,000, according to Iraqbodycount.net, and perhaps more than 100,000, according to the October 2004 Johns Hopkins University study published in The Lancet.
Bush is clearly untouched by the carnage that occurs by his will in Iraq. He seems to be completely disconnected from the horrible images and news that we find everywhere on the internet and nightly news. I wanted to believe that he simply did not see them, but I know the truth is that he just flat, fucking does not care! Our lives mean nothing to this megalomaniac as he continues to wage this holy war against the infidels while attempting to wipe out their culture and replace it with our version of democracy.
Bush, for his part, is so ga-ga with messianic delusions that he doesn’t care about the deaths along the way, Hersh contends. “He doesn’t feel any pain,” one former defense official told Hersh. “Bush is a believer in the adage, ‘People may suffer and die but the Church advances.’ ”
If you do believe in God then I suggest you start praying as hard as you can. We have never been in more dire need of celestial help then we are today.
Colin Powell officially off White House Christmas card list as he sends his Chief of Staff to trash Bush's war planning.
Okay here is where I always get confused. Is the problem with the war planning because President Bush was not involved enough, or because he was too involved? I mean what did this occasional National Guard member know about waging a war? Obviously not very damn much!
Wilkerson blamed Vice President Dick Cheney , Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and like-minded aides. Wilkerson said that Cheney must have sincerely believed that Iraq could be a spawning ground for new terror assaults, because "otherwise I have to declare him a moron, an idiot or a nefarious bastard."
What were the choices again? Moron, idiot, or nefarious bastard. Oooh oooh I choose Nefarious Bastard!
Cheney's office, Rumsfeld aides and others argued "that the president of the United States is all-powerful, that as commander in chief the president of the United States can do anything he damn well pleases," Wilkerson said.
Okay now read that portion again. Is that not one of the scariest things you have ever read? It is beginning to look like rather then believe in a god, George Bush thinks that he is one.
Holy Fuck!
It is Wednesday and the President is lying to me.
"When the Iraqi's stand up, we will stand down........rays of sunshine.......birds singing in the trees.......great progress in the region.......Iraqi's love getting control of their government......rose colored glasses......setting artificial timetable will confuse the Iraqi people......Senator Lieberman is right........America will not run in the face of car bombers as long as I am the Commander in Chief.......we are building a democracy......soldiers love being able to avoid their family members on the holidays......bullshit....bullshit.....and more bullshit."
Now my stomach feels queasy again. Thanks asshole!

Historian calls Iraq War most foolish war in 2,000 years. See George History is already judging you.
To describe Iraq as the most foolish war of the last 2,014 years is a sweeping statement, but the writer is well qualified to know.
He is Martin van Creveld, a professor at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and one of the world's foremost military historians. Several of his books have influenced modern military theory and he is the only non-American author on the US Army's list of required reading for officers.
Damn! You would have to be the biggest tool on the planet to start the dumbest war in 2,000 years! I mean there have been some pretty stupid wars in that time. For example there were the Napoleonic wars, the Falkland Island war, The Eighty year war, the Thirty year war, even a Six day war. To be the architect of the dumbest war in 2,000 years is fairly impressive in an "I glued my ass cheeks together" sort of way.
George W. Bush, embarrassing his family and country for 59 years!
Good-bye to the man who helped my daughter learn to read.

It is so sad to see so many of these special people leave this earth. I appreciated his amazing books which I have read, too many times to count, to literally hundreds of children.
Good bye Mr. Berenstain, and thank you.
Rove Watch November, 29 2005. What's up with Turdblossom?
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will present evidence to a second grand jury this week in his two year-old investigation into the outing of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson that could lead to a criminal indictment being handed up against Karl Rove, President Bush’s deputy chief of staff, attorneys close to the investigation say.
Oops! Well that can't be good news. Well I am sure that they will not find any evidence that Rove went out of his way to hide his contact with Matt Cooper or any other reporter he might have li....er....uh spoken to.
The attorneys say that Rove’s former personal assistant, Susan B. Ralston -- who was also a special assistant to President Bush -- testified in August about why Cooper’s call to Rove was not logged. Ralston said it occurred because Cooper had phoned in through the White House switchboard and was then transferred to Rove’s office as opposed to calling Rove’s office directly. As Rove’s assistant, Ralston screened Rove’s calls.
See! Perfectly innocent explanation.
But those close to the probe tell RAW STORY that Fitzgerald obtained documentary evidence showing that other unrelated calls transferred to Rove’s office by the switchboard were logged. He then called Ralston back to testify.
Oh Damn! Karl is fucked!
And isn't it a shame that his pudgy cherub face just screams "sodomize me!" Oh well I am sure he will emerge a much better person. Or die in prison. Whatever.
Wait! Is this an option?
They threw the Government out!
Okay, okay, let me catch my breath here! First I need to call Canada ask them how they do this. And then, by God, I have a government in mind that I would like to throw out as well!
Start packing George! We are coming for you!

This is what we can expect after losing the Moral highground.
"You, who have used nuclear weapons against innocent people, who have used uranium ordnance in Iraq, should be tried as war criminals in courts," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in an apparent reference to the United States.
Ahmadinejad did not elaborate, but he apparently was referring to the U.S. military's reported use of artillery shells packed with depleted uranium, which is far less radioactive than natural uranium and is left over from the process of enriching uranium for use as nuclear fuel.
Since the Iraq war started in 2003, American forces have fired at least 120 tons of shells packed with depleted uranium, an extremely dense material used by the U.S. and British militaries to penetrate tank armor. Once fired, the shells melt, vaporize and turn to dust.
"Who in the world are you to accuse Iran of suspicious nuclear armed activity?" Ahmadinejad said during a nationally televised ceremony marking the 36th anniversary of the establishment of Iran's volunteer Basij paramilitary force.
How do we answer these charges? How do we dictate to this country when we are guilty of such grievous crimes ourselves? How?
The Day Ethics Died in Iraq.
The Army would conclude that he committed suicide with his service pistol. At the time, he was the highest-ranking officer to die in Iraq.
The Army closed its case. But the questions surrounding Westhusing's death continue.
Westhusing, 44, was no ordinary officer. He was one of the Army's leading scholars of military ethics, a full professor at West Point who volunteered to serve in Iraq to be able to better teach his students. He had a doctorate in philosophy; his dissertation was an extended meditation on the meaning of honor.
So it was only natural that Westhusing acted when he learned of possible corruption by U.S. contractors in Iraq. A few weeks before he died, Westhusing received an anonymous complaint that a private security company he oversaw had cheated the U.S. government and committed human rights violations. Westhusing confronted the contractor and reported the concerns to superiors, who launched an investigation.
On the Internet and in conversations with one another, Westhusing's family and friends have questioned the military investigation.
A note found in his trailer seemed to offer clues. Written in what the Army determined was his handwriting, the colonel appeared to be struggling with a final question.
How is honor possible in a war like the one in Iraq?
Another voice of sanity silenced forever. Makes you wonder. Doesn't it?
No More Lies!
ENOUGH!
I have had enough! No more lies! No more cover up! I demand the truth!
How can it be acceptable to constantly have people in a position of authority refuse to tell us the truth? How? I expect my children to tell me the truth. When they don't I provide a consequence. I expect my wife to tell me the thruth and when she doesn't she has to go. I expect my government to tell me the truth and when they don't I am expected to make allowances? Well too fucking bad! I am not making any more allowances!
Lewis Black, my favorite comedian, says that he expects his government to lie to him. It is a tongue in cheek statement but one riddled with truth. In this day and age we do expect our government to hide the truth from us as if we were children. And now the media has joined the government in this duplicity and we have allowed that as well. Why?
I actually want my government to tell me the truth. I demand that my news agencies provide me with the truth. If either of those entities fail to do that simple task, then they must go. If a politician is not honest then he loses my vote. If a media outlet is demonstrated to have provided false statements then I no longer watch or read them. (Do you hear that FOX?)
Why should I not have this expectation? Why should I allow people to be dishonest? Doesn't this create an environment where our preseident can send thousands of our fellow citizens to die for no good reason? Doesn't this create an environment where different news channels can transmit their own version of the truth? Doesn't this create an environment where advertisers can make up any lie they want in the interest of selling their product? Yes it does. And it is wrong!
So today I reclaim my independence! Today I refuse to be lied to anymore! Honesty will be my watchword. Integrity my lantern. I shall live my life expecting the best from everybody I meet. If they cannot demonstrate that level of integrity then I will simply move on.
I am about to be very lonely.
Faith versus Logic, the Battle continues.
Reflect on this. Only one out of four Americans believes life on earth today has evolved through natural selection. Three-quarters of Americans, in other words, still do not accept what Darwin established 150 years ago. Just under half of all Americans believe the natural world was created in its present form by God in six days as described in Genesis. They believe, incredibly, that the earth is only a few thousand years old.
See what I mean? These three quarters of Americans exist in the same reality that I do. They have access to the same information on the internet and in books. So what makes them believe what they believe? Fear? Culture? Community? Parenting? Stupidity? There is no simple answer.
The most interesting theory is this one, that religion was a helpful evolutionary by-product. The idea that belief in God is dictated by evolution is almost too ironic to imagine. It would however explain sufficiently why there is such extreme differences in the believers versus the non-believers. I would argue that in this day and age being of the non-believing persuasion is more evolutionarily beneficial because of the fact that it allows us to be more flexible and capable of identifying strong ideas and adopting them without it endangering our fragile belief systems.
I have one more thought on this subject. After watching the television coverage of the mad rush of consumers to get the best bargains on the day after Thanksgiving, I was struck by how similar it looked to seeing animals stampede after seeing a potential predator. It makes me wonder just how evoled we truly are. Personally the idea of standing in those lines for several hours is completely out of the question. As is knocking down a fellow human being for a laptop.
With those images in mind maybe it is not so difficult to imagine why people sit on hard wooden pews on a beautiful Sunday morning waiting for God to bless them.
Or why we can be so easily manipulated by our government into embracing a refrendum which allows for the wholesale slaughter of other human beings.
Or why advertisers can get us to salivate over products for which we have no earthly use.
Maybe, ultimately, we are still just herd animals waiting for our leaders to tell us when to flee, or attack, or to eat, or to buy. That is the saddest thing to believe about beings with so much potential.
Well I have to go now because one of my favorite shows is coming on and I don't want to miss it.
Gryphen out.

Many Bush Supporters are now Ex-Supporters.
"Are you sure I look manly in this?""I think people put their faith in Bush, hoping he would do the right thing," said Stacey Rosen, 38, a stay-at-home mother in Boca Raton, Fla., who said she voted for Mr. Bush but was "totally disappointed" in him now. "Everybody cannot believe that there hasn't been one shred of evidence of W.M.D. I think it goes to show how they tell us what they want to tell us."
Congratulations Stacey you have officially pulled your head from out of your ass! If only you people had been more intellectually curious earlier.

The new poll numbers are here! The new poll numbers are here! Ooooh they're bad!
To nobody's surprise the Republicans (or as I like to call them, morons) still think that the president (or as I like to call him Chimpy McFuckup) is telling the truth by a margin of 3 to 1.
Whereas 92% of Democrats (fucking genius's) believe that the president is an unbelievable lying asshole!
But the really interesting numbers are the independants. 73% of them think that the president is lying. Oh oh! Those numbers indicate that the writing is on the wall for this administration. And the writing spells IMPEACHMENT!
The Most Unbelievable Story of the Day. Brownie Starts a Consulting Firm on DISASTER PREPAREDNESS!
"If I can help people focus on preparedness, how to be better prepared in their homes and better prepared in their businesses, because that goes straight to the bottom line, then I hope I can help the country in some way," Brown told the Rocky Mountain News for its Thursday editions.
Now if you are like me your brain just froze up.
The comedian Lewis Black does a whole riff on brain aneurism's being caused by hearing something too stupid for your brain to handle. This would qualify.

I have some more GOOD Thanksgiving news for you!
Kansas University to teach "Intelligent Design" as Mythology. Great, now who am I going to make fun of?
“The KU faculty has had enough,” said Paul Mirecki, department chairman. “Creationism is mythology. Intelligent design is mythology. It’s not science. They try to make it sound like science. It clearly is not.”
Somebody has been popping smart pills! It is about time that somebody in Kansas realized how ignorant their educational system has become. However not all Kansas citizens are so ready to turn from the cave wall to see the light.
John Calvert, an attorney and managing director of the Intelligent Design Network in Johnson County, said Mirecki will go down in history as a laughingstock.
“To equate intelligent design to mythology is really an absurdity, and it’s just another example of labeling anybody who proposes (intelligent design) to be simply a religious nut,” Calvert said. “That’s the reason for this little charade.”
Yeah that is right Jethro, the smart guy is going to go down in history as a laughingstock.

Hillary shows lack of Courage concerning Iraq War pullout.
These are not the actions of the next Democratic candidate for President. Hillary cannot continue to play the middle and hope to gain the support of those of us who want action now! I don't want a political savvy candidate to run my country. I want a passionate, honest, ethical candidate who will start to rapair the unimaginable damage that George W. Bush has visited upon the United States of America.
Sorry Hillary, you don't pass the ethics test in my eyes. I want it all this time. I demand a candidate who walks the walk while he (or she) is talking the talk. I demand a candidate who saw through the administration's manipulations from the beginning. I want a man (or woman) of vision.
That is why John McCain will not get my support.
That is why John Kerry will not get my support.
That is why Hillary Clinton will not get my support.
John Edwards, who publicly admitted that he made a mistake, is much closer to earning back my trust. Any Democratic hopeful must admit their complicity in this fiasco and ask for our forgiveness. They have much to answer for.
Vatican tells Gays and those with "Gay Tendencies" to stay away. Coming soon to a town near you, empty boarded up Catholic Churches.
A new Vatican document on homosexuality in the Catholic priesthood touched off a storm of criticism on Wednesday from those who say the Church is missing the point and using gays as scapegoats for its sex scandals. "At a time when the Church should be taking responsibility for the harm created by a devastating sex abuse scandal, they are instead using gay people as scapegoats," said Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign, a U.S. gay rights group.
Oh come on! If the church does not allow gay priests who are they going to get to stand in front of the congregation in those gaudy robes? If ever there was a gay ensemble it is the ones worn by the Catholic priests!
It is so comforting to know that intolerance and ignorance is still so rampant in the church. They never disappoint me.

More Evidence that the House and Senate Never Saw.
The information was provided to Bush on September 21, 2001 during the "President's Daily Brief," a 30- to 45-minute early-morning national security briefing. Information for PDBs has routinely been derived from electronic intercepts, human agents, and reports from foreign intelligence services, as well as more mundane sources such as news reports and public statements by foreign leaders.
One of the more intriguing things that Bush was told during the briefing was that the few credible reports of contacts between Iraq and Al Qaeda involved attempts by Saddam Hussein to monitor the terrorist group. Saddam viewed Al Qaeda as well as other theocratic radical Islamist organizations as a potential threat to his secular regime. At one point, analysts believed, Saddam considered infiltrating the ranks of Al Qaeda with Iraqi nationals or even Iraqi intelligence operatives to learn more about its inner workings, according to records and sources.
So Mr. President tell me again how the senators had acess to the same intelligence that you had access to. Not only that, but apparently Saddam Hussein was on our side. He also was trying to find out more about Al-qaeda. Just think, we could have all worked together and brought those criminals to justice without blowing the shit out of Baghdad.
I hate our President!
McCain sees the Writing on the Wall and Decides to Back the Winning Team.
This is an important breakthrough for those of us seeking the truth. McCain is a powerful ally. But if he thinks this will buy my vote, or the vote of any critically thinking progressive, he is going to be sorely disappointed. I remember seeing you hugging that lying bastard and giving him your support while turning your back on your friend John Kerry purely for political gain.
John McCain could have held this White House accountable before the election, during the election, or even right after the election. But he did not jump on the wagon until he knew for a fact that it was going to leave him behind. The Democrats don't need McCain to begin to hold this administration accountable. But it will make things faster and smoother.
The dark cloud that hangs over the White House just got much darker and more foreboding.
Secret British Memo claims that Bush wanted to Bomb Al-Jazeera. Could he be that Crazy?
PRESIDENT Bush planned to bomb Arab TV station al-Jazeera in friendly Qatar, a "Top Secret" No 10 memo reveals.
But he was talked out of it at a White House summit by Tony Blair, who said it would provoke a worldwide backlash.
A source said: "There's no doubt what Bush wanted, and no doubt Blair didn't want him to do it." Al-Jazeera is accused by the US of fuelling the Iraqi insurgency.
The attack would have led to a massacre of innocents on the territory of a key ally, enraged the Middle East and almost certainly have sparked bloody retaliation.
A source said last night: "The memo is explosive and hugely damaging to Bush.
Nothing surprises me about this administration anymore.
The Fat Lady is Officially Singing as the Iraqi's ask for a U.S. Withdrawal Timetable.
Okay that is it, the debate is over! If these people believe they can do it without the help of the United States then we are honor bound to give them the opportunity. We never had a right to go there in the first place and we certainly have no right to remain there!
Bring our troops home President Bush! Now!
Ohio Representative Jean Schmidt is not just a bitch. She is a lying bitch!
Danny Bibp is the marine that Rep. Schmit supposedly was quoting when she called Murtha a coward. So she not only insulted a brave Marine's bravery, she smeared another Marine to do it!
"There was no discussion of him personally being a coward or about any person being a coward," Bubp said. "My message to the folks in Washington, D.C., and to all the Congress people up there, is to stay the course. We cannot leave Iraq or cut and run - any terminology that you want to use."
I bet you people in Ohio would like to have a second chance to vote for Paul Hackett now, wouldn't you?

New Buddha is 15 year old boy. Buddha tells me to go in Peace. I tell him to go clean his room!
Of all of the potential religious beliefs out there I have always had a soft spot for Buddhism. But my spot is not this soft.Thousands of pilgrims are pouring into the dense jungle of southern Nepal to worship a 15-year-old boy who has been hailed as a new Buddha.

"As we tried to move over to one side to let them pass, they opened fire," one of the survivors said. None of them would provide their names but said the family was headed by Mohammed Kamel.
"They are all children. They are not terrorists," shouted one relative. "Look at the children," he said as a morgue official carried a small dead child into a refrigeration room.
"We felt bullets hitting the car from behind and from in front," said another survivor with blood running from a wound to his head and splattered on his shirt. "Heads were blown off. One child had his hand shot off," he said.
In Vietnam they called us "baby killers", what will they call us now?

Jerry Falwell's God Squad is coming to an Elementary School near you!
Evangelical Christian pastor Jerry Falwell has a message for Americans when it comes to celebrating Christmas this year: You're either with us, or you're against us.
Falwell has put the power of his 24,000-member congregation behind the "Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign," an effort led by the conservative legal organization Liberty Counsel. The group promises to file suit against anyone who spreads what it sees as misinformation about how Christmas can be celebrated in schools and public spaces.
This jerk is unbelievable! The funny thing is that he does not even see how these actions infringe on the constitutional rights of others. Check out this next statement.
And he isn't worried if they offend people who aren't Christian.
"They can walk right by the sign," Wildmon said. "It's a federal holiday. If someone is upset by that, well, they should know that they are living in a predominantly Christian nation."
That just about sums it up doesn't it? My feeling is that these tactics are going to have the exact opposite effect then Falwell is counting on. Americans do not want religion forced on them. Not even their own religion. Falwell is literally going to send Christians running from his organization. Which, in my opinion, is not a bad thing at all.
Merry Christmas Jerry! You Nazi!
The Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence tells us what he knew before the Iraq War started. Surprisingly not very damn much!
Read what Bob Graham, Democratic Seantor from Florida, has to say on the subject.
As chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence during the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, and the run-up to the Iraq war, I probably had as much access to the intelligence on which the war was predicated as any other member of Congress.
I, too, presumed the president was being truthful -- until a series of events undercut that confidence.
In February 2002, after a briefing on the status of the war in Afghanistan, the commanding officer, Gen. Tommy Franks, told me the war was being compromised as specialized personnel and equipment were being shifted from Afghanistan to prepare for the war in Iraq -- a war more than a year away. Even at this early date, the White House was signaling that the threat posed by Saddam Hussein was of such urgency that it had priority over the crushing of al Qaeda.
In the early fall of 2002, a joint House-Senate intelligence inquiry committee, which I co-chaired, was in the final stages of its investigation of what happened before Sept. 11. As the unclassified final report of the inquiry documented, several failures of intelligence contributed to the tragedy. But as of October 2002, 13 months later, the administration was resisting initiating any substantial action to understand, much less fix, those problems.
At a meeting of the Senate intelligence committee on Sept. 5, 2002, CIA Director George Tenet was asked what the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) provided as the rationale for a preemptive war in Iraq. An NIE is the product of the entire intelligence community, and its most comprehensive assessment. I was stunned when Tenet said that no NIE had been requested by the White House and none had been prepared. Invoking our rarely used senatorial authority, I directed the completion of an NIE.
Tenet objected, saying that his people were too committed to other assignments to analyze Saddam Hussein's capabilities and will to use chemical, biological and possibly nuclear weapons. We insisted, and three weeks later the community produced a classified NIE.
There were troubling aspects to this 90-page document. While slanted toward the conclusion that Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction stored or produced at 550 sites, it contained vigorous dissents on key parts of the information, especially by the departments of State and Energy. Particular skepticism was raised about aluminum tubes that were offered as evidence Iraq was reconstituting its nuclear program. As to Hussein's will to use whatever weapons he might have, the estimate indicated he would not do so unless he was first attacked.
Under questioning, Tenet added that the information in the NIE had not been independently verified by an operative responsible to the United States. In fact, no such person was inside Iraq. Most of the alleged intelligence came from Iraqi exiles or third countries, all of which had an interest in the United States' removing Hussein, by force if necessary.
The American people needed to know these reservations, and I requested that an unclassified, public version of the NIE be prepared. On Oct. 4, Tenet presented a 25-page document titled "Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction Programs." It represented an unqualified case that Hussein possessed them, avoided a discussion of whether he had the will to use them and omitted the dissenting opinions contained in the classified version. Its conclusions, such as "If Baghdad acquired sufficient weapons-grade fissile material from abroad, it could make a nuclear weapon within a year," underscored the White House's claim that exactly such material was being provided from Africa to Iraq.
From my advantaged position, I had earlier concluded that a war with Iraq would be a distraction from the successful and expeditious completion of our aims in Afghanistan. Now I had come to question whether the White House was telling the truth -- or even had an interest in knowing the truth.
The neo-cons will continue to use this lie to try and sway the under educated people in this country. Since you have read the above statements you are now the intellectual elite. Congratulations!

If My Life were a Movie it would be an Erotic Thriller. I so knew that.

Our President is apparently channeling Inspector Clouseau.

Irked by a reporter who told him he seemed to be "off his game" at a Beijing public appearance, President George W. Bush sought to make a hasty exit from a news conference but was thwarted by locked doors.
At the end of a day of meetings with Chinese President Hu Jintao and other Chinese officials, Bush held a session with a small group of U.S. reporters and spoke at length about issues like religious freedom, Iraq and the Chinese currency.
The final reporter he called on critiqued Bush's performance earlier in the day when he stood next to Hu in the Great Hall of the People on Tiananmen Square to deliver a statement.
"Respectfully, sir -- you know we're always respectful -- in your statement this morning with President Hu, you seemed a little off your game, you seemed to hurry through your statement. There was a lack of enthusiasm. Was something bothering you?" he asked.
"Have you ever heard of jet lag?" Bush responded. "Well, good. That answers your question."
The president then recited a list of things of that he viewed as positive developments from his Beijing meetings, including cooperation on North Korean nuclear disarmament and the ability to have "frank discussions" with his Chinese counterpart.
When the reporter asked for "a very quick follow-up," Bush cut him off by thanking the press corps and telling the reporter "No you may not," as he strode toward a set of double doors leading out of the room.
The only problem was that they were locked.
"I was trying to escape. Obviously, it didn't work," Bush quipped, facing reporters again until an aide rescued him by pointing to him toward the correct door.
Holy God this guy is a tool! How is it that people keep supporting this unbelievalbe moron?
I demand that everybody who voted for President Dumbass write me a letter apologizing and swearing that they will not vote in the next three elections! You owe me at least that much!
What is Wrong with our Dick?
I love everything about that paragraph! So it is clear that our Dick is badly infected! So the question is do we take it out of action and try to heal it or do we just cut it off?
I vote we cut it off!
John Dean (Yes that John Dean) suggests that Patrick Fitzgerald be even more Aggressive.
With all due resepct to you John Dean I think you are wrong! As I have previously posted I think that Patrick Fitzgerald is just geting started. I think that the Fitzgerald investigation is somewhat like an iceberg in that what you can see is not indicative of what lay below the surface.
I really only posted this because it reinforces idiom that "politics make odd bedfellows". John Dean was referred to as the "Master Manipulator of the Coverup" during Watergate, so to have him pile on Patrick Fitzgerald feels like some LSD flashback. He did make one fairly intelligent observation however.
To right-minded Americans, the idea that Administration officials have betrayed their national security obligations, yet remain in their jobs, is nothing short of appalling. Beyond politics is patriotism: Patriotic Americans want to see you not only prosecute those who compromised and endangered Valerie Plame Wilson, but also force the Administration to clean house with respect to those who did this, which you can accomplish through appropriate civil action.
Jews ask Christians to give God back!
I have always been somewhat fascinated about this particular dynamic. What do the Jewish people, who's religion is the basis for the Christian cult, think about the direction that this new upstart religion has taken? Clearly they have been disappointed. I can't really blame them.

Bush Promises to use "Sober Judgement" to Determine when we can Start Troop Withdrawals.
So George is going to stop drinking, and use some something called "judgement" from now on. Well it is about damn time Georgie! Because this drunken "make it up as you go along" policy sucks monkey ass!
However there is still this troubling quote.
“We will fight the terrorists in Iraq. We will stay in the fight until we have achieved the victory that our brave troops have fought for”
Are you sure you were sober when you said that? Because maybe you have been too drunk notice but you are running out of brave troops to send over there. Maybe you should rephrase it to say "We will fight the terrorists and Iraqi civilians in Iraq. We will stay in the fight until we have achieved victory or run out of our brave troops!"
But don't get me wrong I totally applaud the sober murder of the Iraqi's as we try to gain control of their oil. It certainly beats the drunken stumbling that we have done in the past.
Patrick Fitzgerald launches a second Grand Jury Investigation. Karl Rove wets himself.
Patrick Fitzgerald's co-workers call him "scary smart" for a reason. This man is a damn genius! He is slowly splitting the Bush administration into separate entities. He knows that if the Bushies maintain a united front that he will have no luck in getting to the truth. What he is doing is classic. He is getting them all to start thinking about their individual welfare and not the good of the unit. He is scaring them shitless!
The really funny thing is that I think these guys believe that they are out-maneuvering Fitzgerald and nothing could be further from the truth. Fitzgerald is giving them plenty of rope to hang themselves and they are busily tying hangmans knots as I type this.
When all is said and done, I believe that Patrick Fitzgeralds name will go down in history as a pivotal player in the demise of the Bush administration. I don't know if he will ever send anybody to jail but I am not even sure that that is his goal. He may actually just be obsessed with finding the truth.

The President of NBC Hates Me!
But Zucker said he is wary of some of these advances, especially the blog craze and its effect on TV.
“We pay too much attention to blogs,” he said. “It is absurd how much attention they receive.”
WTF? Why the hate Jeff?
Here is what I think. I think you are scared. I think that you fear our tiny amount of power. You worry that we will steal dozens of viewers from your shows so that you lose absolutely no revenue! Come on Jeff, don't fear us! We mean you no harm.
Personally I like many of your fine news programs. I love "Countdown"! I used to like "Hardball"! I like Matt Lauer, though I am a little tired of Katie. Brian Wiliams rocks the "Nightly News" and I am going to marry Nora O'Donnell. (No I mean it! I am going to marry her! I will not be denied!)
So relax Jeff we are here to stay and we are sure that you have many more months ahead of you in your current position.
Pentagon Admits that Civilians may have been killed by White Phospherous.
The Pentagon insisted civilians had not been targeted, however, and that it had avoided unnecessary casualties by evacuating the city before the offensive.
You Fucking Liars! First the Pentagon claims they did not use white phosperous in Fallujah. Then after they are shown irrefutable evidence they claim that they only used it to light up the area. After seeing more evidence, they admit they used it but did not target civilians. Now they say they may have accidently hit the civilians but it is not their fault because they told them to move. This is an argument made by a child not a military spokesman!
You do not say "yeah we did it it, but it was an accident" when you are a fucking grown up! Nobody cares that you did not mean it! You did it!
Does this Pentagon believe that the pain suffered by these families is in any way alleviated by these bullshit excuses! It is almost beyond my belief that we could screw up every single thing that we try to accomplish in Iraq! If I did not know better I would believe that these people are fucking up on purpose! I do know better, don't I?
President Bush get us out of there! Please save these people from our bumbling and save our troops from their anger! We have just done too much damage.
John Murtha is right we have done all that we can., and I believe we have done much too much!
Jean Schmidt of Ohio calls John Murtha a coward! House erupts in mayhem!
"He asked me to send Congress a message - stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message - that cowards cut and run, Marines never do," Schmidt said.
Democrats booed and shouted her down - causing the House to come to a standstill.
Rep. Harold Ford, D-Tenn., charged across the chamber's center aisle screaming that it was an uncalled for personal attack. "You guys are pathetic. Pathetic," yelled Rep. Marty Meehan, D-Mass.
Oh no she din't! Oh damn did she stick her foot in it! Okay my Senator, Ted Stevens, is a senile old fart but Jean Schmidt is an absolute bitch! Damn!
Okay the gloves are clearly off let's see how this thing plays out after todays fisticuffs. It is getting awfully fun to be a progressive political blogger these days!
Bob Woodward has been stripped of all credibility.
1. If you didn't tell your editor, Len Downie, about the CIA leak because you were so afraid of being subpoenaed, why did you supposedly tell Walter Pincus? Did you trust Pincus but not Downie?
2. Why were you afraid of being subpoenaed in 2003? Subpoenas of reporters didn't begin until 2004. And how would telling Downie lead to your being subpoenaed?
3. What are your ground rules for your books? Since Plan of Attack was published, weren't you free to use the material from your source?
4. Why did you come forward to Len Downie in late October to reveal your source? This was supposedly before your source approached Fitzgerald, so what motivated you? Did the source call you or did you have sudden pangs of conscience? Why didn't this occur to you in 2003 or 2004?
5. On October 27, you were on Larry King saying you had no big scoop. Was that true or a lie?
6. Why did you criticize Fitzgerald and his investigation without revealing that you had something to hide from him?
7. You said you got permission in writing from all three of your sources to testify about your conversations with them. Two of these sources, Andrew Card and Scooter Libby, have been identified. Can you release their letters? And did Libby write any poetry to you?
8. Why did you say categorically that there was no harm done by the outing of Valerie Plame? How do you know this when the CIA has yet to issue an after-action report?
9. Can you at least tell us some of the atmospherics of your dealings with Fitzgerald?
10. Did the prosecutor indicate that you might be called back?
11. Are you now writing about the Plame affair, and if you are is it for one of your books or for the Post?
12. You've praised Judith Miller's decision to go to jail and offered to do time for her. Still feel that way?
13. Did you remind your source of the June 2003 conversation and did that prompt him or her to go to Fitzgerald?
14. Had your source testified previously to Fitzgerald or before the grand jury?
15. Is there any chance your source was Bill Casey being channeled from the dead?
Now the Bush administration is costing me my heroes, as if I needed another reason to hate them!
Chavez calls Bush a "killer" and a "madman"!
"The planet's most serious danger is the government of the United States. ... The people of the United States are being governed by a killer, a genocidal murderer and a madman," Chavez said at a meeting of Venezuelan and Brazilian business executives in Caracas.
Hey! You can't call our crazy leader crazy! That's our job!
But you know he does make some good points.

Joe Wilson wants Woodward probed. Sounds dirtier then it is.
"It certainly gives the appearance of a conflict of interest. He was taking an advocacy position when he was a party to it," Wilson said.
Woodward testified under oath on Monday to special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald that a senior Bush administration official casually told him in mid-June 2003 about Plame's position at the CIA.
Wilson, a former ambassador turned White House critic, told Reuters that The Washington Post should reveal the name of Woodward's source, and conduct an inquiry to determine why he withheld the information for more than two years from his editors and the federal prosecutor.
Before publicly disclosing his involvement in the leak case on Wednesday, Woodward was a frequent critic of Fitzgerald's investigation in television and radio appearances. Woodward has described the case as laughable and Fitzgerald's behavior as "disgraceful" and has referred to him as "a junkyard dog."
I have noticed that something has not smelled right with Woodward for quite some time now. He is one of my all time favorite heroes for what he and Bernstien did during Watergate, but it certainly seems like he took a big gulp of the administration Kool-aid.
How can somebody be so instrumental in bringing a corrupt administration to justice in the 70's and then bury his head in the sand for a story which might very well prove to be much, much worse today?
It seems as if Woodward has betrayed all of todays reporters who look to him to be an example of pursuing a story no matter where it may lead you. He should be ashamed of himself.
John Murtha, America's Congressman.
General Casey said in a September 2005 Hearing, “the perception of occupation in Iraq is a major driving force behind the insurgency.” General Abizaid said on the same date, “Reducing the size and visibility of the coalition forces in Iraq is a part of our counterinsurgency strategy.”
For 2 ½ years I have been concerned about the U.S. policy and the plan in Iraq. I have addressed my concerns with the Administration and the Pentagon and have spoken out in public about my concerns. The main reason for going to war has been discredited. A few days before the start of the war I was in Kuwait – the military drew a red line around Baghdad and said when U.S. forces cross that line they will be attacked by the Iraqis with Weapons of Mass Destruction – but the US forces said they were prepared. They had well trained forces with the appropriate protective gear.
We spend more money on Intelligence than all the countries in the world together, and more on Intelligence than most countries GDP. But the intelligence concerning Iraq was wrong. It is not a world intelligence failure. It is a U.S. intelligence failure and the way that intelligence was misused.
I have been visiting our wounded troops at Bethesda and Walter Reed hospitals almost every week since the beginning of the War. And what demoralizes them is going to war with not enough troops and equipment to make the transition to peace; the devastation caused by IEDs; being deployed to Iraq when their homes have been ravaged by hurricanes; being on their second or third deployment and leaving their families behind without a network of support.
The threat posed by terrorism is real, but we have other threats that cannot be ignored. We must be prepared to face all threats. The future of our military is at risk. Our military and their families are stretched thin. Many say that the Army is broken. Some of our troops are on their third deployment. Recruitment is down, even as our military has lowered its standards. Defense budgets are being cut. Personnel costs are skyrocketing, particularly in health care. Choices will have to be made. We can not allow promises we have made to our military families in terms of service benefits, in terms of their health care, to be negotiated away. Procurement programs that ensure our military dominance cannot be negotiated away. We must be prepared. The war in Iraq has caused huge shortfalls at our bases in the U.S. Much of our ground equipment is worn out and in need of either serious overhaul or replacement. George Washington said, “To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace.” We must rebuild our Army. Our deficit is growing out of control. The Director of the Congressional Budget Office recently admitted to being “terrified” about the budget deficit in the coming decades. This is the first prolonged war we have fought with three years of tax cuts, without full mobilization of American industry and without a draft. The burden of this war has not been shared equally; the military and their families are shouldering this burden.
Our military has been fighting a war in Iraq for over two and a half years. Our military has accomplished its mission and done its duty. Our military captured Saddam Hussein, and captured or killed his closest associates. But the war continues to intensify. Deaths and injuries are growing, with over 2,079 confirmed American deaths. Over 15,500 have been seriously injured and it is estimated that over 50,000 will suffer from battle fatigue. There have been reports of at least 30,000 Iraqi civilian deaths.
I just recently visited Anbar Province Iraq in order to assess the conditions on the ground. Last May 2005, as part of the Emergency Supplemental Spending Bill, the House included the Moran Amendment, which was accepted in Conference, and which required the Secretary of Defense to submit quarterly reports to Congress in order to more accurately measure stability and security in Iraq. We have now received two reports. I am disturbed by the findings in key indicator areas. Oil production and energy production are below pre-war levels. Our reconstruction efforts have been crippled by the security situation. Only $9 billion of the $18 billion appropriated for reconstruction has been spent. Unemployment remains at about 60 percent.
Clean water is scarce. Only $500 million of the $2.2 billion appropriated for water projects has been spent. And most importantly, insurgent incidents have increased from about 150 per week to over 700 in the last year. Instead of attacks going down over time and with the addition of more troops, attacks have grown dramatically. Since the revelations at Abu Ghraib, American casualties have doubled. An annual State Department report in 2004 indicated a sharp increase in global terrorism.
I said over a year ago, and now the military and the Administration agrees, Iraq can not be won “militarily.” I said two years ago, the key to progress in Iraq is to Iraqitize, Internationalize and Energize. I believe the same today. But I have concluded that the presence of U.S. troops in Iraq is impeding this progress.
Our troops have become the primary target of the insurgency. They are united against U.S. forces and we have become a catalyst for violence. U.S. troops are the common enemy of the Sunnis, Saddamists and foreign jihadists. I believe with a U.S. troop redeployment, the Iraqi security forces will be incentivized to take control. A poll recently conducted shows that over 80% of Iraqis are strongly opposed to the presence of coalition troops, and about 45% of the Iraqi population believe attacks against American troops are justified. I believe we need to turn Iraq over to the Iraqis. I believe before the Iraqi elections, scheduled for mid December, the Iraqi people and the emerging government must be put on notice that the United States will immediately redeploy. All of Iraq must know that Iraq is free. Free from United States occupation. I believe this will send a signal to the Sunnis to join the political process for the good of a “free” Iraq.
My plan calls:
To immediately redeploy U.S. troops consistent with the safety of U.S. forces. To create a quick reaction force in the region. To create an over- the- horizon presence of Marines. To diplomatically pursue security and stability in Iraq
This war needs to be personalized. As I said before I have visited with the severely wounded of this war. They are suffering.
Because we in Congress are charged with sending our sons and daughters into battle, it is our responsibility, our OBLIGATION to speak out for them. That’s why I am speaking out.
Our military has done everything that has been asked of them, the U.S. can not accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily. IT IS TIME TO BRING THEM HOME.
Bravo sir! Bravo!
The Prince of Darkness does not want anyone to point out the administrations lies.
Cheney called Democrats “opportunists” who were peddling “cynical and pernicious falsehoods” to gain political advantage while U.S. soldiers died in Iraq.
You can feel the desperation in his words can't you! The noose is tightening, their supporters are fleeing from them like rats, and Americans are starting to wipe the sleep out of their eyes and are seeing them for the first time. Simply put, you are fucked!
Cheney said the suggestion Bush or any member of the administration misled Americans before the war “is one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city.”
If the above statement is true then that is all the more reason to open an investigation into whether the evidence was shaped to fit the administration's desires. If there is no evidence to prove that they played fast and loose with the evidence then the debate will be over. Think of how vindicated they will all feel then.
In my opinion the only reason to resist an investigation is to cover up what we all now believe to be true, that the administration sent over two thousand young soldiers to die for a lie!
You know if I had done something so reprehensible, I would be trying to stop the wheels of justice from turning as well.
Google identifies biggest failure.

BBC catches United States in a lie. Pentagon admits "we did use white phospherous in Fallujah". What the hell is wrong with us?
"It was used as an incendiary weapon against enemy combatants," spokesman Lt Col Barry Venable told the BBC - though not against civilians, he said.
We are criminals!
We have lost the trust of the international community and the fallout from that is already being felt by our leaders as they try to negotiate and make deals with other countries. I cannot understand how our leaders could have let this administration run roughshod over the good name of the United States of America. Where is their patriotism?
The Senate and Congress should never be a rubber stamp for any presidential administration, but especially not one run by crazy people! These morons cannot seem to do one thing right! Literally our only hope now is to fill the Senate with Democrats and give them the opportunity to dig into the corruption that is clearly rampant throughout this presidency.
I also believe that once we have impeached this president that we should hand him over to the international community to be tried for war crimes. We can include Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice, and Ashcroft in that group as well. It is our only chance of gaining back any of the trust that we have lost with the rest of the world.
Bill Clinton states the obvious.
"Saddam is gone. It's a good thing, but I don't agree with what was done, " Clinton told students at the American University of Dubai.
"It was a big mistake. The American government made several errors ... one of which is how easy it would be to get rid of Saddam and how hard it would be to unite the country."
Clinton did however say that the United States had done some good things in Iraq: the removal of Saddam, the ratification of a new constitution, and the holding of parliamentary elections.
Better late then never!

There is too much SEX and VIOLENCE on television according to....well according to this one group.
These people crack me up! Look, clearly you are the only people in the country that don't know how to use your television remote. If the show offends you then don't watch it! If enough people don't watch it then it will be canceled. On the other hand if you dislike a show that others like then you will just feel out of the loop around the watercooler. Sucks for you!
In my opinion, the only one that really counts, television is waaaay behind other mediums when it comes to sex. Movies are starting to show penetration in movies that are not x-rated, magazines about everything have scantily clad women on the cover (How does a girl in a bikini make the tricked out car look better?), and the internet is rife with every type of perversion known to man. (On that last one I am relying only on second hand info. No really!)
Televsion is fine for most adults. As for kids, well that is what they have parents for. Block the shows that you do not want them to see. And if they always want to spend the night at their friends house the night the "L Word" is on then you might want to check that out too.
George Bush is not the first president to lie. Just the first one to go Pro.
In 1990, even with the world mortified over Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait, the Bush 41 White House overcame fierce public and congressional resistance to war with a wholly concocted story about Iraqi soldiers pulling the plugs on the incubators of Kuwaiti babies.
In 2002-03, it was -- well, everything.
In each case, Congress, as well as the public, was kept in the dark. The fundamental checks and balances of the Constitution, which allow only Congress to declare war, were subverted.
To this list I would add Bill Clinton. I know that it is not terribly progressive to give Clinton any blame but he did, in fact, lie. However as the bumper sticker says "When Clinton lied, nobody died."
Bush lies about everything! He makes up facts, he ignores conflicting data, and he ignores any input from any individual who is not telling him what he wants to hear. I think that George Bush is the most dangerous liar of all. He is the kind of liar that believes his own lies! Bush has faith that what he says is true which makes him think "evidence, I don't need no stinking evidence"!
Unfortunately for Bush his "faith based" approach to world affairs is completely insane! You cannot expect everybody else to respond to the same voices that are ordering you around. I predict that when all is said and done that we will discover that virtually everything that the Bushies did was either illegal, immoral, or both.
And I, for one, can hardly wait!
Bill Clinton is the most influential man in the World. Probably has no trouble getting his Bishop polished now.
The magazine has designated him as "the most powerful agent of change in the world" despite his lack of electoral standing and the fact he was laid low by a heart attack ahead of last year's presidential election.
The magazine highlights Clinton's accomplishments in its December issue, which goes on newsstands on Thursday, profiling the world's "Best and Brightest" men and women.
Since leaving office, Clinton has been so active that his post-presidency amounts to "a third term" for the Democrat who held the White House from 1992 to 2000, the magazine said. He has tackled global issues from AIDS, poverty and global warming to the recovery from last December's Indian Ocean tsunami.
Esquire editor David Granger argued that Clinton was poised to become "something like a president of the world or at least a president of the world's non-governmental organizations."
But it will mean giving up a leadership role in the Democratic party or pushing the political career of his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, seen as a 2008 White House contender.
In the article, Clinton said that he remained loyal to his party, adding: "I'm not the leader of the opposition anymore."
Okay if he is so influential could he possibly get his wife to stop supporting this criminal war? Democrats are going to have to start saying en masse that they were tricked into voting to give Bush the permission to use the threat of force to threaten Saddam into complying with the weapons inspectors, or they will not have a chance of being elected to any public office.
Bush Supporters don't know how to use Condoms. Well that explains alot.
Almost half the men who answered IU survey questions about their latest sexual encounters with women admitted they waited too long to put on a condom or took it off too soon.
"Hey Betty Lou, how long do I have to keep this damn thing on my pecker? Can't we just take it off and put our faith in Jesus?"
Here is our main probelm as progressives, we are just too damn smart! If we were a little more careless we could populate this planet with Yale professors and newspaper editors. But instead we have a ton of "Jethro's" and "Ellie Mae's" running around voting for whoever can outsmart them.
America, We ain't smart but we're aggressive!

Apparently God needs a Lawyer.
The inmate, named as Pavel M in media reports, accused God of "cheating, abuse and traffic of influence".
His complaint reads: "I, the undersigned Pavel M, currently jailed at Timisoara Penitentiary serving a 20 years sentence for murder, request legal action against God, resident in Heaven, and represented here by the Romanian Orthodox Church, for committing the following crimes: cheating, concealment, abuse against people's interest, taking bribe and traffic of influence."
The inmate argued that his baptism was a contract between him and God who was supposed to keep the Devil away and keep him out of trouble.
He added: "God even claimed and received from me various goods and prayers in exchange for forgiveness and the promise that I would be rid of problems and have a better life.
"But on the contrary I was left in Devil's hands."
I think that this is an idea that is clearly ahead of its time.
We should sue God for making things that taste good for making us fat.
We should sue God for giving us cancer.
We should sue God for making our children stupid.
We should sue God for too many rainy days in the summer.
There are tons of things that we could sue God for. Hold on, I am calling my lawyer right now.
If he runs for President I will vote for him!
by Jimmy Carter
In recent years, I have become increasingly concerned by a host of radical government policies that now threaten many basic principles espoused by all previous administrations, Democratic and Republican.
These include the rudimentary American commitment to peace, economic and social justice, civil liberties, our environment and human rights.
Also endangered are our historic commitments to providing citizens with truthful information, treating dissenting voices and beliefs with respect, state and local autonomy and fiscal responsibility.
At the same time, our political leaders have declared independence from the restraints of international organizations and have disavowed long-standing global agreements — including agreements on nuclear arms, control of biological weapons and the international system of justice.
Instead of our tradition of espousing peace as a national priority unless our security is directly threatened, we have proclaimed a policy of "preemptive war," an unabridged right to attack other nations unilaterally to change an unsavory regime or for other purposes. When there are serious differences with other nations, we brand them as international pariahs and refuse to permit direct discussions to resolve disputes.
Regardless of the costs, there are determined efforts by top U.S. leaders to exert American imperial dominance throughout the world.
These revolutionary policies have been orchestrated by those who believe that our nation's tremendous power and influence should not be internationally constrained. Even with our troops involved in combat and America facing the threat of additional terrorist attacks, our declaration of "You are either with us or against us!" has replaced the forming of alliances based on a clear comprehension of mutual interests, including the threat of terrorism.
Another disturbing realization is that, unlike during other times of national crisis, the burden of conflict is now concentrated exclusively on the few heroic men and women sent back repeatedly to fight in the quagmire of Iraq. The rest of our nation has not been asked to make any sacrifice, and every effort has been made to conceal or minimize public awareness of casualties.
Instead of cherishing our role as the great champion of human rights, we now find civil liberties and personal privacy grossly violated under some extreme provisions of the Patriot Act.
Of even greater concern is that the U.S. has repudiated the Geneva accords and espoused the use of torture in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, and secretly through proxy regimes elsewhere with the so-called extraordinary rendition program. It is embarrassing to see the president and vice president insisting that the CIA should be free to perpetrate "cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment" on people in U.S. custody.
Instead of reducing America's reliance on nuclear weapons and their further proliferation, we have insisted on our right (and that of others) to retain our arsenals, expand them, and therefore abrogate or derogate almost all nuclear arms control agreements negotiated during the last 50 years. We have now become a prime culprit in global nuclear proliferation. America also has abandoned the prohibition of "first use" of nuclear weapons against nonnuclear nations, and is contemplating the previously condemned deployment of weapons in space.
Protection of the environment has fallen by the wayside because of government subservience to political pressure from the oil industry and other powerful lobbying groups. The last five years have brought continued lowering of pollution standards at home and almost universal condemnation of our nation's global environmental policies.
Our government has abandoned fiscal responsibility by unprecedented favors to the rich, while neglecting America's working families. Members of Congress have increased their own pay by $30,000 per year since freezing the minimum wage at $5.15 per hour (the lowest among industrialized nations).
I am extremely concerned by a fundamentalist shift in many houses of worship and in government, as church and state have become increasingly intertwined in ways previously thought unimaginable.
As the world's only superpower, America should be seen as the unswerving champion of peace, freedom and human rights. Our country should be the focal point around which other nations can gather to combat threats to international security and to enhance the quality of our common environment. We should be in the forefront of providing human assistance to people in need. It is time for the deep and disturbing political divisions within our country to be substantially healed, with Americans united in a common commitment to revive and nourish the historic political and moral values that we have espoused during the last 230 years.
This from, arguably, the kindest most humanitarian president we have ever had. I voted for him once, my first vote in my first election, and he lost. I would vote for him again in an instant!
This is why I gave up reading.
“The Subaru came through the window, come about 30 feet took out a couple people and hit a book case and stopped,” said Macchio
Okay now truthfully I go to this bookstore quite often. As a matter of fact the gym that I attend is connected to this building on the other side. I could have been damaged!
Now here is an Immoral Minority Pop Quiz. Was the driver of the car;
- An old man looking for a farmers market?
- An older woman having a seizure?
- A younger woman just trying to park her car?
Well if you guessed number three then you must have been on the road with some of the same women that I have been on the road with.
“She looked at me and says, ‘What happened? I was trying to step on my brakes.’
The vehicle was an automatic! There are only two pedals to choose from! Two pedals and she picks the wrong one! She should have stumbled out of the car and tried to find a book on driving!

Witches want a day off too!
Folberth, 40, was a graphic artist for more than six years at U.S. Surgical Corp. in North Haven. She said she was fired because she began requesting unpaid Wicca holidays off. The holidays include the Celtic New Year, known as Samhain — or Halloween as it is more widely known.
Seems fair to me. She is not asking to be paid, she just wants some time off to worship the dark lords. Where is the bad?
Wiccans are pagans who follow the Celtic traditions of pre-Christian England. They have a pantheon of goddesses and gods, much like ancient civilizations including Greece, Rome and Egypt. They have roughly eight significant holidays, including Samhain today.
"A pantheon of goddesses and gods"? If they have more gods then Christians do then shouldn't they get more holidays? I mean let's be fair here. Christians have just one measly god and they get Christmas Eve, and Christmas off, not to mention they don't work on Sundays cause it will piss off their "god", how is that fair? If Wiccans have a boatload of gods then they should never have to come to work.
Now I don't know much about Witches, except that in most of the stories I have read about them they eat children which I just can't get on board with, but I believe in the edict "live and let live". So as long as they are not trying to eat me, or turn me into a three headed goat, then I would have to say that they should get to inflict their religious beliefs on us with the same impunity as those uppity "jesus freaks"!
Happy Samhain!
Bush is not the only one who is going to lose his job over the Iraq war decisions.
A renewed attempt to impeach Blair over claims he misled parlia ment in making his case for war against Iraq, will be made in the Commons within the next two weeks.
I believe, if I may use a farming colloquialism, that "the chickens are coming home to roost". I, of course, have no fucking idea what that means but I believe it to be true in this circumstance.
Blair really fubar'd when he attached his future to our strutting pseudo-cowboy president. Blair always seemed so erudite and sophisticated standing next to Bush that it is hard to imagine that the was willing to follow his lead. Bush will be the death knell of the republicans in this country if they do not cut themselves loose from his decision making, and the same holds true for Blair. Though truthfully it is probably too late for Blair.

Did senators have the same access to intelligence that the Bush administration did in the lead up to war in Iraq? No.
Bush asserted that "more than 100 Democrats in the House and the Senate, who had access to the same intelligence, voted to support removing Saddam Hussein from power."
But Bush does not share his most sensitive intelligence, such as the President's Daily Brief, with lawmakers. Also the National Intelligence Estimate summarizing the intelligence community's views about the threat from Iraq was given to Congress just days before the vote to authorize the use of force in that country.
In addition, there were doubts within the intelligence community not included in the NIE. And even the doubts expressed in the NIE could not be used publicly by members of Congress because the classified information had not been cleared for release. For example, the NIE view that Hussein would not use weapons of mass destruction against the United States or turn them over to terrorists unless backed into a corner was cleared for public use only a day before the Senate vote.
The administration had the access and time to sift through the intelligence and to present to the Senate only the information that supported their goal, which was to use military force against Saddam Hussein. The senate had the added pressure of an American nation that wanted revenge. I know that I, myself, was angry and wanted to lash out at the villains that had attacked us in this country. It was that sentiment, felt universally by all Americans, that helped to shut down any potential opposition to Bush's plan.
But, did these senators really vote to declare war on Saddam?
The October 2002 joint resolution authorized the use of force in Iraq, but it did not directly mention the removal of Hussein from power. The resolution voiced support for diplomatic efforts to enforce "all relevant Security Council resolutions," and for using the armed forces to enforce the resolutions and defend "against the continuing threat posed by Iraq."
And there is the other line of bullshit that I am tired of hearing. The senate did not support our country attacking Iraq, they supported the use of the threat of force to use as leverage to give the diplomatic measures more weight. But Bush took that permission to use the military to intimidate Saddam, to attack and kill Iraqi's before the diplomatic methods and weapons inspectors had finished their work. If Bush had waited he would have discovered that Saddam did not have any weapons of mass destruction.
I think that Bush knew that all along.
The American Army is on the ropes. "The wheels are about to come off!"
Last December, the top general in the Army Reserve warned that his organization was "rapidly degenerating into a 'broken' force" because of the Pentagon's "dysfunctional" policies and demands placed on the Reserve by the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
As one of my colleagues at The Times, David Unger of the editorial board, wrote, "The Army's commitments have dangerously and rapidly expanded, while recruitment has plunged."
Soldiers are being sent into the crucible of Iraq for three and even four tours, a form of Russian roulette that is unconscionable.
This is the real bottom line as it pertains to the war in Iraq. Regardless of what public opinion is, or whether Bush lied about the intelligence in the lead up to war (he did!), or whether or not we have an adequate exit strategy, the real factor determining how much longer we can continue the fight in Iraq is whether we have soldiers to send.
We are literally running out! And who can blame them? To join the military now is to guarantee that you will, at some point, be fired upon. Whether you be Army, Marines, Air force, or National Guard you will serve in Iraq. Now compound that with sinking public opinion polls, lack of adequate body armor, no coherent exit strategy, and you have a recipe for disaster.
This will not just affect the military in the short term it could keep numbers low for the next ten to fifteen years. There is only one way to start the healing process. Bring our military home! Now!
Get them out of there before they start to die in increasing numbers and before the enemy realizes how week we truly are at this point.

Forget the theory of "Intelligent Design", the "Ancient Egyptians came from Mars" theory is much more believable.
But these are just the kinds of scientific musings which are suppressed by the fundamentalist religious leaders of this country. They insist that you just believe in the bible as your one source of information, and worse that you believe their interpretation of the bible. They never allow for any other evidence for fear that it will challenge their faith.
Well thank you, but no thank you. I will happily take my brain and allow it to run unfettered amongst all of the many possible theories that my fellow humans might come up with from their scientific research.
Remember, "The unexamined life is not worth living", so sayeth Plato.
Crushing the myth that men are not attracted to accomplished women.
"Decades after the feminist movement promised equality with men," Dowd laments, "it was becoming increasingly apparent that many women would have to brush up on the venerable tricks of the trade: an absurdly charming little laugh, a pert toss of the head, an air of saucy triumph, dewy eyes and a full knowledge of music, drawing, elegant note writing and geography. It would once more be considered captivating to lie on a chaise lounge, pass a lacy handkerchief across the eyelids and complain of a case of springtime giddiness."
Wrong!
I have never been attracted to helpless women. The women that I find desirable are capable, humorous, bawdy, intellectual, self assured, responsible, honest, playful, and adventurous in bed.
I am not attracted to women who are weak, silly, manipulative, dishonest, ignorant, unsophisticated, cold, or feign incompetence to get their man to do everything for them.
I long to have conversations about politics, philosophy, current events, movies, books, pop culture, history, or any number of other topics that I have been forced to muse about privately for many years. I welcome the strong, capable woman.
I like the pretty pictures in Maxim magazine but I do not pine for those women. I have watched adult videos but I would never replace somebody I loved for one of the sexual contortionists on the screen. Pretty is great. Sexy is wonderful. Smart is necessary!
You don't have to agree with everything that I say but you sure as shit better have a well developed difference of opinion. I don't desire a sycophantic, bubbleheaded, sex machine. (Though I am willing to take one for a test drive occasionally)
I would welcome a Maureen Dowd in my life. If she were a little younger. Maybe a little hotter. And possibly brunette. And a tiger in bed. Okay now she is perfect!
What did you expect? I am a guy!
