It’s beyond shameful to see Barack Obama disrespect and mistreat our World War II veterans so blatantly. Obama’s political stunt to “shut down” their memorial by barricade is to elicit an angry response to generate bad publicity for people the president uses in his continual blame game.

The difference is obvious. There aren’t any World War I veterans alive today to mistreat in a shameful political stunt. He’s deployed more guards to bar our World War II heroes from their memorial than he sent to Benghazi when our consulate was under attack. (Well of course somebody needs to bring up Benghazi. The evidence for this statement by the way seems to be this tweeted picture of park employees replacing the safety barricades after the Congressional Republicans knocked them down in their rush to get a photo-op with the veterans. Those barriers are NOT there to bar visitors from visiting the site, they are there to keep them safe since there are few park employees to assist them and ensure there is no destruction done to the monuments or injuries incurred by visitors.)

The President is treating our veterans the same way he treated school kids when he cancelled their White House tours. (Does she mean like every other person affected by a government shutdown? Because that list is long and it includes cancer patients, scientists, and infants and children not being fed.) When times called for obvious government belt-tightening, he took it out on kids rather than look for anything that would affect him personally. And while our vets are barricaded from the memorial they built with their heroism, the government “slim down” won’t affect Obama’s golf game or his family’s White House chefs. (You nasty, nasty bitch.)

Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress are attempting to fund the Veterans Administration and other essential functions, but Democrats are blocking them because they want to make any slim down look as awful as possible in order to deflect from what this whole slim down thing is about, which is their Obamacare train wreck. (Time for a reminder that the budget which the Senate Democrats approved, and which John Boehner is too intimidated to bring to the House floor, INCLUDES the sequestration cuts that the Tea Party helped to win last time they pulled this shit. The ONLY thing they are fighting to cut is The Affordable Care Act, which is a law!)

Good Congressmen are fighting for average middle class Americans to get the same breaks that Obama gave Congress, his pals, union bosses, and crony corporations who financed his campaign and snookered the media into putting him in office. (Actually Obamacare itself GIVES middle class Americans the same breaks enjoyed by Congress, big corporations, and union members. It gives them access to affordable health care. The question is WHY are the Republicans trying to stop them from getting it?)

It is a sad day when We the People have to go cap in hand to the president begging him to give us the same relief he gave his friends by fiat. Thank God we have bold leaders willing to fight for those who can’t afford to pay powerful lobbyists to make Obama and Harry Reid listen. (Does she mean like Ted Cruz? Oh yeah, he's a hell of a leader. Perhaps she should read the post directly below this one.)

Want to know why this whole thing happened? Look at what Obamacare is already doing to our country with health care costs skyrocketing, workers laid off or kicked to part-time, employers shutting down projects, and debt still soaring. See the article linked below. This is what America is up against. (The article she is referring to is a VERY misleading one called "The 100 Unintended Consequences of Obamacare" written by a Right Wing outlet.)

And Obama employees who know in your hearts and souls that punishing our veterans is wrong, know that we have your backs when you say “enough is enough” and then allow our vets to gaze upon our memorials that honor America’s finest. (And those "Obama employees" also surely know that all of that, and more, can be accomplished simply by bringing the Senate approved sequestration CR to the floor of the House and voting on it.) This simple act of civil disobedience will galvanize our nation against atrocious political games, and I promise you’ll sleep well tonight.

So to be clear Palin is encouraging OTHER people to risk an overnight stay in jail, and a possible violent confrontation with police, while SHE stays warm and toasty in her fuzzy slippers and terrycloth straight jacket at home?

Why not? After all Facebook posts don't leave handcuff marks on your wrists or pepper spray your eyeballs. It is easy to suggest that others, in this case elderly service men and their families, fight a fight that you would never, ever fight in person.

I always find it fascinating that every time Palin accuses the President of doing something  shameful, like using the World War 2 Veterans for a "shameful political stunt," she does it while essentially doing that very same thing herself.

In this case the President is not "using" anybody, he is simply standing up to a group of domestic terrorists who were elected by the most rabid members of the Right Wing to undermine the government and, as Rachel Maddow has pointed out, to eventually shut the whole thing down.

The President is clearly on the right side in this battle, and it will take a lot more than transparent publicity stunts and crazed Facebook posts to shake his resolve.

P.S. It should be noted that Palin DID do one good thing today. She greatly assisted New Jersey Senatorial candidate Cory Booker, by endorsing his opponent.  I am sure a thank you note is on it's way from Booker's campaign office as we speak.

Update: As some of you probably figured out, I wrote this post before the shooting happened today on Capitol Hill. And the unpaid Capitol police who responded to that emergency are the same folks that Palin was encouraging people to confront about the fact that could not visit some of the attractions in the National Mall.

I'm just saying.

New poll should put quite a scare into the Republicans currently holding the country hostage.

Six hours after the federal government shut down for the first time in 17 years, a new Quinnipiac poll delivered the first warning sign for a Republican Party that stands to take the brunt of the blame. 

According to the poll, American voters oppose shutting down the federal government to block implementation of the Affordable Care Act by a significant, 72-22 margin. And on another upcoming fight — raising the debt ceiling — Americans oppose using it to stop the health-care law's implementation by a 64-27 margin. 

And in general, 58% of Americans oppose cutting off funding for Obamacare to tinker with its implementation. 

All of these should be significant red flags for the Republican Party, which polls have shown will take the bulk of the public's blame for the shutdown. 

According to the Quinnipiac poll, Democrats now hold a 9-point advantage in the general Congressional ballot — that is, Americans said they would vote for the Democratic candidate in their district over the Republican candidate by a 43-34 margin. That's the highest it's been all year. 

And of course the so-called establishment Republicans KNOW this is a loser for them.

This according to Politico:  

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has privately warned House Republicans that they could lose their majority in 2014 as a result of shutting down the government. 

Gee no wonder Boehner drinks!

Let's face it despite conservative rhetoric to the contrary this does NOTHING to  help the Republicans in any way. At least not long term,

And really bizarre fact is that essentially they have already won a HUGE concession from the last stupid fight over the CR.

Democrats have already agreed to fund the government at Republican levels. In other words, they've already caved in. It wasn't even a compromise. They've just flatly given in to Republican demands to continue funding at sequester levels. 

This is the CR that Republicans now refuse to pass.

So even though they got what they wanted in the last battle, they are so greedy that they simply cannot be happy with it, and instead always want more. 

And they DARE question why Obama is more willing to negotiate with Iran than he is to negotiate with the Congressional Republicans?

Yeah, that's REAL confusing. 

After making her wait 45 minutes, and sending the Palin-bots into hysterics, Greta Van Susteren finally lets Sarah Palin spew word salad, with a light "foaming at the mouth" vinaigrette, all over her show.

Well it is nice that Todd paid the electric bill so that this time people can see the lunacy emanating from the Grizzled Mama's giant pupils. (Seriously how much meth does it take to give somebody that "forever surprised" look?)

And the fire is a nice touch. I mean it's only the middle of summer, and at the tail end of a huge heat wave, so hell why WOULDN'T you build a roaring fire in a fake living room in a television studio? Duh!

Palin's first volley in her war on reality  is aimed at the conservative's newest target. Lois Lerner, the IRS agent who plead the fifth during her last appearance before Darrell Issa and his "hang'em high" posse.

Susteren asks if Issa should call her back.

"They should absolutely call her back, and charge her with contempt if she continuous to refuse to answer questions though she has prefaced her testimony with a claim of innocence, saying she has nothing to do with this IRS corruption. ("Corruption?" When did anybody accuse the IRS of corruption over this?) And then has refused to answer the people's representatives about what bolsters her claim of innocence? Yes they need to call her back. It's amazing she is still being paid in her position though she's not doing a lick of work. (What? She's still being paid?) She's on leave without pay. (Wait, didn't you just say...) It's amazing that those who have been involved in this IRS corruption haven't been fired or been held accountable."

After this Palin closes her mouth and adopts a maniacal stare which appears both incredibly unhinged and self satisfied at the very same time. 

(By the way for those of us in the reality based world, documents which Issa was purposefully withholding from the American people in order to cry "scandal" have already proven that there was no "corruption" and no unfair "targeting" of the Tea Party.)

Greta then asks the Wasilla Wendigo if she thinks that it is time for a Special Prosecutor to be brought in. You know because Palin is such an expert on legal matters.

"Well I would say that it is if Lois is going to return, if she is going to be called back, and with her counsel decide she is going to plead the fifth yet again. Um we need to make sure we're getting to the bottom of this. And if it's not Congress able to get to the bottom of it, via questioning her in front of a panel or committee, then yeah a special investigation needs to ensue. But look this is such a circus. and the ringleader of this circus is (Darrell Issa.) our President Barack Obama (Wait, what?), has opportunity to do something about IRS corruption. He had promised that he would, and yet we haven't heard word one from him since that promise of getting to the bottom of corruption. We haven't heard from Nancy Pelosi who had promised that she would 'drain the swamp,' if she, and some of her colleagues, got reelected. Uh wanting to clean up the corruption in Washington D.C.. All those broken promises just give us fewer and fewer reasons to trust our government." 

Back to that hundred yard meth stare.

Susteren then pulls Palin off of the meatless IRS bone and throws her the fresh meat of Fourth of July fireworks on Army bases being cancelled, due to military spending cutbacks.

Palin eagerly latches on: "Should we do something patriotic like allow our military personnel, who are willing to sacrifice their lives to defend our Republic, should we reward them with something as simple as fireworks on the Fourth of July?  It's a matter of priorities, here Barack Obama is on a hundred million dollar trip to Africa with his family, and extended family, and whomever else he chooses to bring on these trips. And yet wants to pull the rug out from under traditional events, that perhaps would bring some inspiration and some thanks to our military personnel, this is ALL a matter of priorities Greta, and our government has their priorities all screwed up." 

Yes, how could our government possibly choose to keep military personnel, who have spent years ducking enemy fire and having things blow up all around them, from having the opportunity to suffer an episode of PTSD during a completely unnecessary fireworks display? Fucking Obama!

Greta then eggs Palin on further saying it is "beyond" her as to why the soldiers are not getting to see the fireworks. At this Palin "releases the Kraken."

"It's bigger than that though Greta, it's bigger than that. And there are more significant examples than just this fireworks, I mean look at some of our troops with their equipment, some left over surplus equipment that they're using from back in the Vietnam War. We're not equipping them with the tools that they need to, as  I say defend our Republic and do their jobs. And yet we spend money left and right on the most ridiculous things. And you know that's that's for another show because you could go on all day long about the expenditures of our governemtn that make absolutely no sense."

Annnd now we're back to the hundred yard stare. (Okay that is freaking me out!)

Okay so is Palin actually suggesting that our soldiers are currently using 40 year old equipment in Afghanistan? Equipment that has been gathering dust since the end of the Vietnam War?

Now when the wars first started there was an embarrassing lack of adequate armor for the vehicles and the soldiers were creating what they called "hillbilly armor" to compensate, but that was the fault of Donald Rumsfeld and the Bush Administration and has long since been resolved, so I have NO idea what Palin is referring to here.

However I must say that the better lighting did her NO favors.  She looked extremely fucked up and her pupils could not have been larger if you jumped out of one her closets wearing a Rachel Maddow mask,

I think that it is Roger Ailes plan to have her give these short, carefully structured interviews, in the hopes that it will keep her from saying anything TOO stupid.


Unfortunately for Ailes he failed to take into account just how fast the stupid bubbles out of Palin's gaping maw of miserable misinformation.

You know I wonder how much Greta drinks after one of these shows?

Of course this tweet is in support of Eric Bolling's attentions seeking offer to pay for White House tours now that the Republican's sequester has threatened to shut them down.

Of course it is just a naked attempt to attract media attentions, whihc is why Sarah Palin, the queen of attention whores, can not resist the attempt to get a little reflected glory for herself.

But one has to wonder why the multimillionaire did not simply offer to write her own check?

I mean I think Eric Bolling is a tool of the first order, but at LEAST he offered to pay out of pocket.

The best that Snowdrift Snooki can do is offer to make a donation to a bake sale? Damn that is weak even for her!

Of course dealing with problems with baked goods is a tried and true approach for Granny Grinch.

If you remember back in early 2009, when the people of rural Alaska villages were crying out for help as they slowly starved and froze to death. Palin did nothing for almost two months, before finally making a huge show of flying out with a plate full of cookies and Evangelist Franklin Graham and local homophobe Jerry Prevo in tow.

Let's face it, Sarah Palin has NO intention of donating time, money, or even baked goods to ANYTHING that does not have some sort of payoff for her. All this is is yet another sad and desperate attempt to stay relevant.

And judging by the number of attendees at her most recent speaking engagement, she needs all the help staying relevant that she can get!

Look it's "lying across three seats a piece" room only.

Sean Hannity gets spanked on his show by Rep. Keith Ellison and finally ends the interview early in frustration. Gotta love it!

 Right at the top of the interview, Ellison told Hannity, “You are the worst excuse for a journalist I’ve ever seen.” He scolded Hannity for trying to blame the president instead of providing accurate information on the sequester fight, and called Hannity a “shill for the Republican party.” Hannity invited Ellison to “keep ranting.” 

After Ellison spoke for a bit, Hannity cut him off to ask another question, but Ellison fired back, “No, wait a minute, you said I could rant, and I am.” Hannity said he’s had plenty of time to rant, but before he could get onto the next question, Ellison kept loudly talking. Hannity asked, “Why are you so angry?” 

Hannity told Ellison he was acting “comical,” and in response to Ellison’s bewilderment and light mocking, he said he gave him enough time to rant without getting another question. Hannity said that in the spirit of bipartisanship they should have a dialogue. Ellison shot back, “I thought you weren’t a Republican.” 

Hannity clarified he’s a registered conservative. Hannity then moved on to his question. He claimed the sequester was the Democrats’ fault, to which Ellison immediately insisted it was the Republican-led House’s fault. Hannity tried to call out President Obama for the massive debt, and Ellison fought back with a few suggestions for how Democrats want to lessen the debt, which Hannity practically laughed at. 

As Hannity attempted to ask Ellison another question about the “immoral” debt, Ellison called Hannity immoral and accused him of telling lies. He insisted that the massive debt is not Obama’s fault, which led to a brief shouting match between the two men. Hannity cut Ellison off by telling him the interview was a “total waste of time.”

I have to tell you that it was beyond satisfying watching Hannity get called out on his partisan bullshit.  And I damn near busted a gut when he claimed he was not a Republican.

The whole network is one giant propagnada arm for the Republican party and the more that people like Rep. Ellison call them out over it the better.

You know perhaps next he should invite Florida Congressman Alan Grayson on his program. I am sure he will let Hannity get a word in edgewise. Yeah probably not.

It looks like Palin is REALLY sucking up the the Right Wing before her big upcoming flop in front of CPAC in March. You know, in case they forget just who in the hell she was.

Palin knows that the way to a Teabagger's heart is through name calling and attacking the Democrats.

But hey, at least it seems she might actually tapped this one out herself with her very own gnarled clawed hands.

By the way it might be worth noting that the most popular Republican politician in the country, and the ONLY one that has any shot at the White House (If Hillary doesn't run that is) has NOT been invited to CPAC:

The Republican rock star governor of New Jersey was reportedly not invited to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference in March, where potential 2016 hopefuls like Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan will be rubbing elbows with activists. 

Yeah I guess that Christie's photo-op with the President while they were both touring the devastation from Hurricane Sandy was just TOO much for these simple idiots to stand.

Update: It looks like the tweet was just the first volley while Palin's Facebook ghostwriter put together a longer rant for her about the sequestration, It is essentially the same old crap, but here is a rather entertaining nugget:

If we are going to wet our proverbial pants over 0.3% in annual spending cuts when we’re running up trillion dollar annual deficits, then we’re done. Put a fork in us. We’re finished. We’re going to default eventually and that’s why the feds are stockpiling bullets in case of civil unrest.

Well I guess Palin would know all about the wetting of the pants since she is such good friends with Ted "Pants load of excrement" Nugent. And as for having a fork stuck in you to indicate you are done, I think the media has done exactly that to our once ferocious Mama Grizzly, don't you think?

By the way since she brought up that "feds stockpiling bullets" conspiracy theory here is the link that explains what is really going on.

Entering into sequester negotiations, new Bloomberg poll shows President Obama with highest job approval rating in three years, and the popularity of Republicans at record lows.

President Barack Obama enters the latest budget showdown with Congress with his highest job- approval rating in three years and public support for his economic message, while his Republican opponents’ popularity stands at a record low. 

Fifty-five percent of Americans approve of Obama’s performance in office, his strongest level of support since September 2009, according to a Bloomberg National poll conducted Feb. 15-18. Only 35 percent of the country has a favorable view of the Republican Party, the lowest rating in a survey that began in September 2009. The party’s brand slipped six percentage points in the last six months, the poll shows. 

Americans by 49 percent to 44 percent believe Obama’s proposals for government spending on infrastructure, education and alternative energy are more likely to create jobs than Republican calls to cut spending and taxes to build business confidence and spur employment. 

“The Republicans are not offering any new solutions,” said poll respondent Cynthia Synos, 62, a political independent who lives in the St. Louis suburb of Greendale, Missouri. “Their answer is always tax cuts and incentives for business. I’ve never heard them say anything innovative to spark the economy that would help the other 85, 90 percent of people that have to deal with the economy as it is.” 

Obama’s positive standing with the public provides him with political leverage as Americans assess blame for any furloughs, disruption of government services or damage to the economy if the spending cuts aren’t averted. The repercussions also could help shape the battleground for the 2014 midterm congressional elections. 

Public views of congressional Republicans’ record places an added burden on them in the standoff over automatic spending cuts. Americans by 43 percent to 34 percent say they are more to blame than Obama and Democrats for “what’s gone wrong” in Washington. Still, another 23 percent aren’t sure which side bears more responsibility. 

Republicans “are not willing to work at all with the president,” said poll respondent Horace Lee Boyd, 64, a political independent and retired wholesale merchandiser who lives in Cullman, Alabama. “When you cease to compromise, you cease to accomplish anything. We’re at a stalemate. He’s willing to compromise and they aren’t.” 

From most perspectives it does not appear that the Republicans have much to work with, especially since the public cannot help but notice that most of the fighting is actually going on within the party itself, between the establishment GOP and the upstart Teabaggers, instead of with the Democrats.

While it is clear that the President wants to do everything he can to avoid the sequester it is clear that he stands to benefit from it politically once it happens and that the Republicans will suffer an even larger slip in the polls as a result.

In other words it appears that the Republicans are still trying to play chess while Obama is beating the pants off of them in a game of three dimensional chess.
