When you are trying to sell weight loss drinks on Instagram but your body is not cooperating so you just change clothes and call it good.

A post shared by Bristol Meyer (@bsmp2) on
Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

The side-by-side images appears to be a sponsored post for a diet tea, and while she offered her fans a discount code for the product, she never stated that it was a promotional ad.

Over the summer, the Federal Trade Commission issued warning letters to 90 celebrities urging them to clearly disclose when posts are sponsored high up in the message.

Though Bristol's name wasn't on the list of those who had received letters, the FTC has stated that celebrities need to flag that content is sponsored early on in the post.

You know typically if you are trying to convince people that the weight loss product you are hawking actually works you take two pictures months apart wearing the same outfit, or in the second photo you wear more revealing clothing.

These two photos literally look as if they were taken on the same day.

Hell she is still even wearing the exact same hairstyle.

Man you would think after a lifetime of grifting, that the Palin spawn would be a lot better at this.

Reality show "The Biggest Loser" was in fact the "Biggest Scam."

Courtesy of The New York Post:

Following a controversial study that claims to explain why almost all “Biggest Loser” contestants regain massive amounts of weight, numerous ex-Losers reached out to The Post to dispute its findings — exclusively revealing that the show encouraged contestants to take street drugs while starving themselves and to lie about how much weight they were losing.

The federally funded study, conducted by Dr. Kevin Hall at the National Institutes of Health and published two weeks ago, says changing metabolic rates, hormone levels, and genetic predispositions explain post-show weight gain.

What’s missing, former Losers tell The Post, is any examination of the show’s secret and brutal tactics, which include providing illicit drugs to contestants and submitting them to questionable medical exams by the show’s resident doctor, Rob Huizenga, known as “Dr. H.”

Huizenga collaborated with Hall on the NIH’s study.

“People were passing out in Dr. H’s office at the finale weigh-in,” says Season 2’s Suzanne Mendonca. “On my season, five people had to be rushed to the hospital. He knew exactly what we were doing and never tried to stop it.”

I think it is well established that I hate all reality shows.

However there are a few which really earn my disgust, and this is one of them.

As a former personal trainer I know exactly how hard it is to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

And the fantasy offered by this program was potentially quite damaging to the viewers.

Anybody who thinks they can spend a couple of weeks or months changing their diet and working hard at the gym and that it will make a long term impact on their physique is buying into the snake oil sold by the producers of this program.

Yes exercise and dietary changes DO help trim the fat and build muscle, but it ALWAYS happens incrementally and only has a lasting effect if it is maintained after the initial weight loss.

I am not at all surprised that the show used some form of stimulant and starvation tactics to get the contestants to lose weight.

Not am I surprised to learn that there were long term side effects.

What I am surprised about is that this show is even still on the air.

Is Bristol Palin now reduced to hawking weight loss products?

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

Bristol Palin may have only given birth less than two months ago, but she is on a mission to shed her 'last few pregnancy pounds' amid the bitter custody battles she is embroiled in with her ex fiances Levi Johnston and Dakota Meyer.

The 25-year-old took to Instagram on Monday to share a photo of herself grabbing her morning weight loss shake before walking out the door with her six-week-old daughter Sailor Grace in tow.

'Exercising and #310shake to lose the last few pregnancy lbs! @310nutrition #sp #fitnessgoals [sic],' she wrote, tagging the shank company 310 Nutrition.

My favorite part of this is that DM uses it as an excuse to once again bring up Bristol's ongoing custody and child support battles with Dakota Meyer and Levi Johnston.

As for the weight loss shake, I can't say I am at all surprised to see Bristol using her fleeting reflected "fame" to get a few endorsement deals. And I long suspected that both she and her mother would be hawking products on QVC before they finally faded from the public eye.

Besides didn't her mom once claim that she was going to write a weight-loss book?

Whatever happened to that?

Oprah dumps Oz.

Courtesy of Vox:

The Dr. Oz media empire just took a blow from the woman who helped make him famous: Oprah Winfrey. According to New York Daily News, "'The Daily Dose With Dr. Oz,' a 'radio minute' produced by Oprah's Harpo Productions, will end May 29."

Even more interesting: Oz's spot, which aired on 150 stations, may be replaced with "A Better Life With Dr. Sanjay Gupta" — the CNN chief medical correspondent.

While there has been no explanation for the switch, the news comes just over a week after Oz faced heavy criticism for featuring questionable science on The Dr. Oz Show. The public scorn has caused some to question whether Oz — who was a medical expert on Oprah's show starting in 2004 — is now tarnishing Oprah's legacy.

In particular, a group of doctors and professors from across the country signed a letter addressed to Columbia's dean of medicine — where Oz has a faculty position — calling the medical school's affiliation with the TV star "unacceptable."

Oh well he's done now. Once Oprah throws you to the curb, your ass is over.

You know personally I am going to give a great deal of the credit to John Oliver.

Because without his incredibly insightful reports about Dr. Oz I am not sure that Oprah would have felt enough pressure to essentially admit that she is a quack magnet. (Yes I'm looking at you Dr. Phil.)

John Oliver once again goes after TV snake oil salesman Dr. Oz, and it's glorious.

I loved this bit:

“No. You are scientifically wrong about that as you are about so many things. Let’s be clear: The First Amendment protects Americans from government censorship, and that’s it. It does not guarantee you to simultaneously hold a faculty position at a prestigious private university and make misleading claims on a TV show. It absolutely protects your right to say whatever you like on it, just as it protects my right to say what I think about you on mine, which is this: You are the worst person in scrubs who has ever been on television—and I’m including Katherine Heigl in that. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to be worse than Katherine Heigl? You are also the admittedly handsome ringmaster of a middling mid-afternoon televised snake-oil dispensary and it says something that even when you do a show with seven fake models of human feces, the biggest piece of shit on the stage has his name in the title.”

By the way there are now over a thousand doctors calling for Dr. Oz to step down from his faculty position at Columbia University.

Courtesy of Fox News:

Earlier this week, 10 doctors sent a letter calling for Oz, host of the popular TV show "The Dr. Oz Show," to be removed from his academic position as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Columbia. The doctors said that Oz has promoted products and made claims that aren't supported by medical evidence.

And now, of the 1,300 doctors who responded by 4 p.m. ET today (April 24) to a poll conducted by SERMO, a social network for doctors, 735 doctors (57 percent) said Oz should resign from his faculty position at Columbia. Fifty doctors (4 percent) said Oz should have his medical license revoked. And another 280 doctors (22 percent) said Oz should both resign from his position and have his license taken away.

Personally I have long disliked Dr. Oz and his fact free TV program.

It started for me when I left the television on all night, and woke up in the morning to Oz telling his audience about a "miracle" fat reducing supplement that he guaranteed would help people drop at least fifteen pounds without doing anything else different.

Literally the first word that left my mouth that morning was "bullshit!"

Anybody, doctor or otherwise, who puts the word "miracle" in front of any fat reducing product should immediately cause you to stop listening to them immediately.

And from what I have learned since, virtually ALL of his presentations which push miraculous foods, supplements, and even exercise regimes are flawed, and they provide potentially dangerous information to his largely undereducated sycophants.

Could this possibly be secret of Sarah Palin's dramatic weight loss?

As a rule I don't usually put too much stock in blind items. However this one sort of caught my eye:

I guess she is a celebrity now. Not sure what her title would be. Anyway, she definitely has A list name recognition. Actually she has A+ name recognition. Anyway, she has lost weight recently and says it is because of diet and exercise. Could be true, but the little pick me up powder she was wiping from her nose the other night is probably helping too and that famed LA weight loss drug Adderall.

Of course the vast majority of  comments on this post immediately identified Sarah Palin as the most likely subject.

Now as you all know I have already ridiculed the idea that Palin's weight loss has anything to do with a new fitness regime, which is simply absurd.  Having said that we already know from Joe's book that Palin has a history of cocaine use, however it was the inclusion of the Adderall that immediately convinced me that this was most likely Palin.

I cannot give specifics right now, but I will say that during the research for one of the books on Palin, information concerning another family members longtime addiction to that particular drug emerged. It did not make it into the book, due to the difficulty of finding cooperative witnesses to confirm it, but between all of us it was given a great deal of credence.

Hmm, could this also clear up the mystery of the "white powder" delivered to Bristol on the set of DWTS? Inquiring minds want to know.

In response to questions about her dramatic weight loss Sarah Palin claims to be writing a book about fitness. Somebody needs to explain the difference between "fit" and "skeletal" to her.

Courtesy of People:

New photos of Sarah Palin looking very thin have caused a stir online, and now the former Alaska governor and 2008 VP nominee tells PEOPLE she's just fine and is, in fact, working with her family on a new fitness book.

In an email to PEOPLE on Tuesday, Palin – who's known to treat houseguests to a smorgasbord of homemade treats such as moose chili, chocolate cream pies, pecan pies and lemon meringue pies – wrote, "Our family is writing a book on fitness and self-discipline focusing on where we get our energy and balance as we still eat our beloved homemade comfort foods!"

Palin, 48, says she will discuss the topics in "our unique and motivating book."

"We promise you what we do works and allows a fulfilling quality of life and sustenance anyone can enjoy," she adds.

It is unclear if Palin has a contract for the upcoming book or when the work will be published

Are you fucking serious? There NO contract!

Who in the hell would give this walking cadaver a contract to write a book on healthy eating?

This emaciated look is NOT due to counting calories and exercise!

That is due to either a chronic illness, a debilitating depression, or body dysmorphic disorder. (Anybody see Todd lately?)

According to Steve Schmidt, Palin was living on Atkins bars and diet soda during the  2008 campaign, and Frank Bailey and others have said that Palin often resorts to fasting in order to lose weight.

Those are not techniques that will sell any weight loss books I can promise you that!

Besides did she REALLY say that the whole family was writing this book?

Somehow I cannot imagine that Bristol, who claimed that she gained this much weight while exercising up to eight hours day, and who went to get lipo dissolve injections to help her lose weight during her short lived reality show.

Just another Palin lie. But a damn funny one I have to admit!

Bristol Palin's goal on DWTS this time around is NOT to gain weight. Seriously?

Courtesy of People:

While some celebrities are known for shedding pounds while participating on Dancing with the Stars, Bristol Palin did not consider herself one of them.

The Alaska native, 21, said during her time on ABC's hit series that she didn't notice any changes in her body except for toned legs. But this time around, on season 15's all-star edition, which premieres Sept. 24, Palin is hoping for a different outcome.

"My goal [is] not to gain any weight," the young mom recently told PEOPLE during the Television Critics Association summer tour in Beverly Hills. "I think it's hurtful for any girl when someone's criticizing their weight on a national level. It's an awkward position."

Well that was carefully worded.

She "did not consider herself one" of the celebrities that lost weight on the show?  That's because she WASN'T one of the celebrities that lost weight on the show!  That is not a based on a perception, it is a based on actual, irrefutable evidence.

And once again I don't think the majority of people were JUDGING her for being fat.  They were judging her for being pregnant on the show, and putting the fetus in danger while pretending that she wasn't carrying a child.

And if that "perception" is not true then I assume Bristol Palin has the most screwed up metabolism on the planet, one that gains fat during exercise rather than loses it, and we can look forward once again to watching her swell up like a balloon in a Macy's Thanksgiving day parade THIS season as well.

However if we were correct, then THIS time Bristol should look forward to actually trimming down without resorting to crazy dieting or surgical procedures. And wouldn't THAT be a nice change of pace for members of her family?

Nancy French uses straw man argument involving Hillary Clinton to defend Bristol from criticism over her pregnancy cover up during DWTS.

Today Nancy French, attempting and failing once again to convincingly channel Bristol, used the thinly veiled cover of pretending to support Hillary Clinton to bitch on Bristol's behalf about criticisms over her weight gain on DWTS.

I will skip over the pandering to females that starts the ghostwritten post and go directly to the meat (Get it, meat?) of the ridiculous defense courtesy of Brancy's (Totally stole that!) blog:

When I was on Dancing with the Stars, I was only nineteen years old. I was active and fit, but I did gain five to ten pounds over the course of the show.

(Five or ten pounds?)
At my heaviest, I was still thinner than a lot of girls my age, but heavier than I am now. I’m not saying this because I’m somehow proud of how I looked on that show.

Rather, I’m saying that I’ve been the brunt of jokes, speculation, and criticism about my appearance, and it’s not fun.

When people choose to mock young impressionable females and even more mature national political leaders, it spreads the lie that the value of women resides in their appearance. As women, we should resist the urge to laugh at our sisters, both Democrats and Republicans alike. Plus, Hillary looks good! (Agreed! Hillary looks fine. Who said she didn't? However she is NOT somebody who got to where she is by batting her eyes while wearing short skirts and high heels.) I think we should give her credit for not having a make up artist following her around and being comfortable in her own skin.

Okay, let's get something straight. The people, at least on THIS blog, who mocked you Bristol, did not mock you because you were overweight. They mocked you because you were clearly pregnant and tried to pretend that you weren't.

And unlike the paint chip eaters that supported your mother, and helped you stay on DWTS far longer than you deserved, we were not fooled!

And by the way it certainly does NOT help to make your point that you gained weight on the show because you were a high school basketball player and the show's exercise regime actually "took my activity level down a notch," when you left the show looking like this..

..and today look like this.

I mean it kind of makes one want to ask, "What kind of exercise are you doing now that is SO much more strenuous than what you did during Dancing with the Stars?"

P.S. I guess I should add that Bristol posted this new picture of her mom to demonstrate how natural she is by saying this is how she looks 90% of the time.

Actually if Bristol wants to make the point that her mother is not somebody who cares about appearance most of the time (Something I absolutely disagree with by the way.), than perhaps she should have chosen a more representative picture of what her mother looks like without all of her fake hair and makeup on.

For that purpose I feel this one is a better choice.

There, fixed it for you Brancy!

Bristol Palin addresses her bizarre weight gain during DWTS in her book of excuses and outright fabrications. Oh THIS ought to be good!

I actually thought I would never revisit the DWTS weight gain issue again, but Bristol's ridiculous excuse for why she gained weight on the show is too stupid to leave unaddressed. (I can't believe the Palins think they can say such outlandish bullshit and never get called on it!)

Here is the actual page from her book:

I know it is small and hard to read, but I wanted to give you an actual screenshot in case anybody thought I might be exaggerating.  Below I have typed out the pertinent portions.

The ironic thing about this whole thing is that my critic was a self-described public advocate against bullying...as long as she agrees with the victims politics, I guess. After a prominent gay suicide, she went to the airwaves and criticized bullies...while at the same time publicly stating that a 135 pound girl like me was obese. But because I was  already active and fit, the show's schedule wasn't new to me. I did gain five pounds over the course of the show, but I was still thinner than a lot of girls my age.

Bristol continues in the next paragraph:

So let me address this issue head-on. I'm not skinny and I'm not fat. I'm a girl like everyone else who lives in this era of airbrushed photos who's trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. And do you know what? I'm succeeding. Everyone talks about how strenuous the Dancing with the Stars workouts are, but they're nothing compared to any high school basketball practice. Though one contestant famously lost forty-one pounds, I have to assume it was because she was not too active beforehand. Because I was an active kid before I started, this show actually took my activity level down a notch. That meant I was not going to be seeing rapid weight loss. Which was fine with me.

Okay rather than simply pick apart what Bristol is saying I think I will let the pictures, which surely she knows are still available on the internet, do my talking for me.

First let me point out that the weight Bristol brought with her to DWTS was NOT the weight gain left over from having Tripp, as evidenced in his May, 2009 picture taken while she was promoting the Candies Foundation.

Bristol May 6, 2009

And as for her so-called athletic lifestyle before DWTS, Bristol did not attend regular school after the beginning of 2008, and was certainly not on any basketball teams since then. She went back for a short time and graduated from Wasilla High, on May 15, 2009. (Once again NOT participating in any organized sports during that time.)

And as evidence of her rather sedentary lifestyle (Or perhaps something else) here is Bristol in May of 2010.

Bristol May 5, 2010
So I think it is pretty well established that Bristol was NOT engaged in any rigorous sports activities directly before starting with DWTS.

Here is a picture of Bristol's very first rehearsal with Marka Ballas on September 2, 2010.

DWTS first rehearsal September 2, 2010.

I am not going to make any disparaging comments about her weight, other than to say that for a nineteen year old she is NOT in what I would consider athletic condition. Anyone disagree?

So taking this rather out of shape nineteen year old and having her compete on what has been called "more of a weight loss competition, than a dancing show," one would logically expect Ms. Palin to start toning up and dropping some lbs.

But instead this is what she looked like a twenty six days after she started working with Mark Ballas on the dance routines.

Bristol September 28, 2010.

And here she is in October.
Bristol in October, 2010.

And again in November, at the end of the show.

Bristol November 23, 2010.
Now I am not going to claim I am an expert on female weight loss, but I WAS a personal trainer and I can tell you that what these pictures demonstrate is physiologically impossible. Unless Bristol has some very dangerous thyroid gland problem, there is simply NO reasonable explanation for this weight gain while practicing dance steps for up to eight hours a day. None.

And by the way, just to spike the ball a little here, DWTS also had as contestants gymnast Shawn Johnson, football player Emmet Smith, figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, basketball star Rick Fox, speed skater Apolo Ohno, just to name a few of the athletes that appeared in past seasons, and they ALL demonstrated an increase in their overall conditioning and a decrease in their weight. Are we to believe that THEY led sedentary lives before they started rehearsals?

In fact as far as anybody can tell, EVERY constestant on DWTS lost weight and got into much better shape due to the strenuous rehearsals involved, with ONE notable exception.

Bristol on the View November 24, 2010.
So Bristol perhaps you should have just left this topic alone, because bringing it up in this book is only going to have people talking about what they believe was the REAL cause of your bizarre weight gain on DWTS.

Kirstie Alley sheds sixty pounds while performing on DWTS. Palin-bots look over at Bristol and say "WTF?"

From Hollywood Life:

Kirstie Alley‘s struggle with her weight is no secret, and when she joined Dancing with the Stars many people wondered if we’d see her lose weight on the show. And now, her hard work has really paid off. Dancing up a storm with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy is really helping Kirstie slim down! She already fits into a size 6 dress according to the Daily Mail. What a great accomplishment, Kirstie!

“I’ve lost 60 pounds, and I have 30 or 40 more to go. And I think with this strenuous, rigorous dance schedule, I think it’s going to work,” Kirstie told US Weekly before starting the show.

Kirstie is proud of her body and continues to show it off in fun costumes on the show. This week, she sported an Americana-inspired blue outfit. When joining the show, Kirstie admitted that the DWTS rehearsal schedule would help her lose the weight that she has struggled with for years.

Wow! Sixty pounds, that is impressive! Especially since Alley is famous for her never ending struggles with her weight.

Her amazing weight loss, resulting simply from her taxing workouts on DWTS, are an amazing testament to how much effort goes into the show, and the dramatic effect it has on a person's body.

And so are the stories from Kelly Osbourne, Jennie Garth, Kyle Massey, Lil' Kim, and Marie Osmond. Just to name a few.

So simply looking at this from a non-political, non-Palin hating perspective, how does one explain this?

Bristol Palin at the beginning of DWTS September 2, 2010.

Bristol Palin on November 23, 2010.

Bristol Palin on November 24, 2010.
If you can explain this without leaping to a rather obvious conclusion I would love to hear your argument.

Monday, November 08, 2010

Just for fun, here is part of Bristol's appearance on the Ellen Degeneres show today. Update!

First I need to say that I agree with Bristol's assessment of Levi's interest in politics and his ability to run for public office.

Visually the clip also seems to provide further evidence of the phenomena that we have all been watching since the beginning of the show.

I have begun to try and understand just how Bristol could have been convinced to go on DWTS. But all I can come up with is that she was either forced at gunpoint or somehow believed that Hollywood magic would cover up what nature was doing to her physique.

I also have to wonder if she was not counting on being voted off well before she got to this stage, and whether the Palin-bots are actually working against her personal wishes.

What do you all think?

Update: Even DWTS's executive producer realizes that it is Sarah's political supporters keeping Bristol on long past when she should have been voted off.

"There's a strong popular movement behind Sarah Palin at the moment and she's receiving a lot of support from the Tea Party," Conrad Green, executive producer of the program, said in an interview. "It's entirely possible some of those people are behind Bristol for political reasons."

Wednesday, October 06, 2010

So do we buy Bristol's explanation for why she is the only one NOT losing weight on DWTS?

From Digital Spy:

The 19-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin has been rehearsing daily with professional partner Mark Ballas for the 11th season of the ABC competition, which continues tonight.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, she joked: "I haven't really noticed a change in [my body]. I think most people lose weight because they are too stressed out to eat and I haven't had that problem!"

Does THAT make any sense?  Here is a young woman on national television who is surrounded by super fit and attractive women, some who are both substantially older AND more fit than she is, and she does not even TRY to modify her eating habits?  It is not like Bristol has been overweight her entire life, like Kelly Osbourne was or anything. And didn't Osbourne lose quite a lot of weight during her time with the program?

Look putting all of my cards on the table I have heard way TOO many sources tell me this young woman was pregnant to think otherwise. My only question is whether or not she is STILL pregnant?  And if she is, how in the hell did she get on the show?

And if she DOES still have a bun in the oven, that would also go a long way to explain this statement:

The teenager was also asked if she had been receiving any extra attention from men following her success on the dancefloor, to which she replied: "No! And I'm too busy to do anything like that right now. No interest!"

Hmm no interest in men, and wants to eat all of the time.  Well since she is not Rosie O'Donnell I am guessing that "Bristol the Pistol" might still have one in the chamber. If you know what I mean.

(That was just a joke Rosie, you know I'm a fan.)
