Mitt Romney: "My time has come and gone."

Am I running? What, are you an idiot?
Courtesy of TPM:

Mitt Romney on Sunday inevitably denied any plans to run for president in 2016.

"I’ve spoken on this topic so many times, I don’t have anything new to add," he said on "Fox News Sunday." "I’m not running, and I’m not planning on running."

Fox host Chris Wallace quizzed Romney, and asked him if circumstances could actually change.

"Chris, I’m not going to add to the story. I’ve had nothing new for you," Romney responded. "My time has come and gone."

After 2012's debacle would think that this declaration would be a no brainer for Romney. And I actually believe that Romney is being honest.

However that has not stopped the pundits from proclaiming that Romney is certain to run in 2016.

This from Pat Buchanan yesterday on The McLaughlin Group:

"There is no doubt Jeb Bush, Chris Christie and Mitt Romney are in the establishment category or bracket that are headed for the finals," Buchanan said. "I think Mitt would come out first but I really don't see Bush as really having the drive or inner drive. And I think, then you get Mitt Romney against someone like a Cruz, or someone like that, and I think that would be the finals. And I think that Mitt has got it in his heart to do this thing."

"The only cure for presidential fever is embalming fluid. I think he's going to run," Buchanan said to host John McLaughlin.

I think that another Romney presidential bid would reek of desperation.

However considering the motley crew of misfits currently leading the pack of GOP hopefuls, I think the word desperation might be an understatement.

Pat Buchanan is a little pissy that he lost his job at MSNBC for being a racist. Yeah, how unfair?

Buchanan has written a rather long, and very angry, article complaining about how unfair it is that the world has changed and his conservative, homophobic, racist views are no longer tolerated.

You can read the whole thing by clicking here.

However I thought I would just focus on two segments that he uses to defend his book, Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?, which was essentially the last straw for the liberal viewers of MSNBC.

First he explains that his book could not be considered racist or anti-Semitic thusly:

If my book is racist and anti-Semitic, how did Sean Hannity, Erin Burnett, Judge Andrew Napolitano, Megyn Kelly, Lou Dobbs, and Ralph Nader miss that? How did Charles Payne, African-American host on Fox radio, who has interviewed me three times, fail to detect its racism? How did Michael Medved miss its anti-Semitism?

Yes, how DID the folks at Fox News, who are so well known for being racially sensitive and progressive, ever miss the fact that there was racism and antisemitism in the book? After all they are such shining examples of journalism, are they not?

As for Erin Burnett? Well she is on CNN, which is rapidly becoming "Fox News lite," so that might be the reason. Or else, to give her the benefit of the doubt because I am a fan, maybe she is just too busy to have actually read the entire book?

And Ralph Nader? Fuck Ralph Nader! That is all I have to say on that topic.

Then there is this effort to explain his position on "teh gays."

That homosexual acts are unnatural and immoral has been doctrine in the Catholic Church for 2,000 years. Is it now hate speech to restate traditional Catholic beliefs?

Yes, it is now hate speech. Where the hell have you been?

Just like it is hateful to follow church doctrine by refusing to allow women to control their reproductive rights.

And just like it was hateful for the church to have tortured people for heresy during the Inquisition.

And hateful again to have placed Galileo Galilei under house arrest for daring to suggest that in fact the earth rotated around the sun instead of the other way around.

In fact there are many things that are, or were, supported by church doctrine that are considered completely ridiculous, or even hateful, by the enlightened people of today.

Perhaps the inability to recognize that, or to recognize his true motivations for espousing his racist, antisemitic, anti-gay viewpoints, is really what signaled the end of Pat Buchanan's career.

Somehow I don't think his removal from the airwaves is going to have any negative affect on MSNBC at all.

Besides there is always Fox News. And as Buchanan pointed out, THEY simply cannot detect any racism or antisemitism, so he should be perfectly at home in that environment.

Well this is long overdue. MSNBC ousts Pat Buchanan over racist book.

Pat Buchanan after KKK Bukkake. Just kidding, he got hit with a cream pie. See what I did there?
Courtesy of Think Progress:

Conservative contributor Pat Buchanan’s tenure at MSNBC may have finally come to an end. AP reports that MSNBC president Phil Griffin has indicated the controversial former presidential candidate will not be allowed back on the network after the release of his latest book. “Suicide of a Superpower” has been roundly condemned for its racially-charged content, including chapters titled “The End of White America” and “The Death of Christian America.” Griffin said, “When Pat was on his book tour, because of the content of the book, I didn’t think it should be part of the national dialogue much less part of the dialogue on MSNBC.” As ThinkProgress has reported, Buchanan has a long history of bigotry and has made many offensive statements while in the network’s employ. 275,000 people signed a petition calling on MSNBC to fire him.

I have long wondered how MSNBC justified having him on as a pundit anyhow, since his racist rhetoric and rather batshit crazy views, are well documented.

Hell he is so far out there on the crazy fringe that Sarah Palin even supported his Presidential run in 2000.

What more proof could you possibly need to know that he is a racist lunatic?

How is Pat Buchanan NOT considered the Godfather of the Tea Party? Or is he?

Check out these obviously racist quotes from Buchanan's new book "Suicide of the Superpower" courtesy of TPM:

From the chapter, “The End Of White America”:

The white population will begin to shrink and, should present birth rates persist, slowly disappear. Hispanics already comprise 42 percent of New Mexico’s population, 37 percent of California’s, 38 percent of Texas’s, and over half the population of Arizona under the age of twenty. ……. Mexico is moving north. Ethnically, linguistically, and culturally, the verdict of 1848 is being overturned. Will this Mexican nation within a nation advance the goals of the Constitution—to “insure domestic tranquility” and “make us a more perfect union”? Or has our passivity in the face of this invasion imperiled our union?

I know what you are thinking. "But Gryphen one example from a book does not necessarily prove racism."

But wait, there's more!

Also from the chapter, “The End Of White America”:

Those who believe the rise to power of an Obama rainbow coalition of peoples of color means the whites who helped to engineer it will steer it are deluding themselves. The whites may discover what it is like to ride in the back of the bus.

From the chapter “The Diversity Cult”:

Americans who seek stricter immigration control have been charged with many social sins: racism, xenophobia, nativism. Yet none has sought to expel any fellow American based on color or creed. We have only sought to preserve the country we grew up in. Do not people everywhere do that, without being reviled? What motivates people who insist that America’s doors be held open wide until the European majority has disappeared? What is their grudge against the old America that eats at their heart?

On crime:

If [conservative political commentator Heather] Mac Donald’s statistics are accurate, 49 of every 50 muggings and murders in New York are the work of minorities. That might explain why black folks have trouble getting a cab. Every New York cabby must know the odds, should he pick up a man of color at night.

From the chapter “‘The White Party’”:

What the above points to is a strategy from which Republicans will recoil, a strategy to increase the GOP share of the white Christian vote and increase the turnout of that vote by specific appeals to social, cultural, and moral issues, and for equal justice for the emerging white minority. If the GOP is not the party of New Haven firefighter Frank Ricci and Cambridge cop James Crowley, it has no future. And although Howard Dean disparages the Republicans as the “white party,” why should Republicans be ashamed to represent the progeny of the men who founded, built, and defended America since her birth as a nation?

You know reading this kind of makes me wonder if Pat Buchanan might not be Rick Perry's long lost crazy uncle.

I cannot believe that Pat is treated like just any other pundit on MSNBC.  If he had his way, half of the journalists there would be forced to share one "colored" bathroom, so as not to get their n****r cooties on him and his fellow KKK brothers.

The man is a dinosaur, but what is worse is that he is a blatant racist who NEVER seems to get called on it. In my opinion he should NEVER be asked his political opinion, especially as it pertains to our President, because it is clear to me that he sees the world through the prism of prejudice and hate, and simply cannot be trusted to provide a reasonable and measured response to anything that has to do with President Obama, his policies, or his political future.

Norah O'Donnell, Mika Brzezinski, Pat Buchanan and Carl Bernstein weigh in on Palin's final speech as Governor.

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

Norah O'Donnell: "She has a tight circle of advisers consisting of me, myself, and I".

Did you hear how exasperated this group of commentators were about her anger and lack of substance? Hah! Welcome to our world!

Well except for Buchanan who seems to be headed toward honorary Palinista status.

Maybe he will be the next one in line to be Ivy Frye's boyfriend. Oops, did I type that out loud?

Pat Buchanan endorses the drowning of Levi Johnston.

I hate to break this to Mr. Buchanan but in order for Todd to get anywhere close to Levi for a drowning he would have to get through Tank Jones.

I have spent some time with Mr. Jones and I can tell you that Todd would piss all over himself if Tank were to get in his face. Levi Johnston is in no danger from any of the Palins that is for damn sure.

And Tank is not the only one watching out for the Johnston family either.
