Millenials love Einstein more than Jesus, and hate George W. Bush more than Joseph Stalin. Well good for them!

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

George W Bush has gone down in history as one of the world's most evil people, just behind Adolf Hitler and Osama bin Laden.

The former president beat Stalin, Mao and Lenin as a figure of hate in a new study of history's biggest heroes and villains.

Albert Einstein, meanwhile, beat Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King and even Jesus Christ to be crowned the world's biggest hero.

This is according to the opinions of almost 7,000 students from 37 countries including Argentina, Pakistan, South Korea, Italy, and the US.

The students, who had an average age of 23, were asked to give their opinions on 40 figures and significant events throughout world history.

Interestingly enough the historical figures more despised than Bush were Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, and Adolph Hitler. Great company you keep there Georgie! (Can you believe his brother actually thinks he might be elected to the White House?)

Personally I was a little disappointed to see that Jesus beat out Buddha for biggest hero, and that President Obama was nowhere on the list.

I found this study particularly interesting in that the sampling was from all over the world, and that it was focused on a fairly young population.

This indicates to me that these young people are less religious, more inspired by science (Thomas Edison and Sir Isaac Newton also made the top ten.), and totally fed up with dictators and their wars.

In other words they are moving toward a more peaceful coexistence based on a love of logic, and away from the constant state of warfare dictated by an adherence to religious doctrines.

If true that is very good news indeed.

Seymour Hersh's explosive expose on the truth behind the death of Osama Bin Laden, is apparently not terribly explosive and a little light on truth.

So the other day this story by Seymour Hersh was published revealing that almost everything that we know about the raid which killed Osama Bin Laden was false.

I read through it and considered doing a write up, but I stopped myself because there were parts of it that I found a little hard to swallow.

So instead I decided to wait until other news outlets started to weigh in, realizing that they would have access to data and resources that I simply do not have.

As expected they were less than convinced by Hersh's report as well.

Here is what Vox had to say:

Hersh's story is amazing to read, alleging a vast American-Pakistani conspiracy to stage the raid and even to fake high-level diplomatic incidents as a sort of cover. But his allegations are largely supported only by two sources, neither of whom has direct knowledge of what happened, both of whom are retired, and one of whom is anonymous.

The story is riven with internal contradictions and inconsistencies. The story simply does not hold up to scrutiny — and, sadly, is in line with Hersh's recent turn away from the investigative reporting that made him famous into unsubstantiated conspiracy theories.

Vox goes on to pick apart much of what Hersh wrote, and compares it with eyewitness accounts and reports from journalists who visited the scene in Pakistan.

And they are not alone.

Former CIA Chief Leon Panetta denies the veracity of Hersh's account, as does the White House.

Of course that is to be expected.

However the soldier who actually shot Bin Laden in that raid calls the report "an insult to the word ludicrous."

Look Seymour Hersh is a legend whose reporting has revealed incredibly important stories that the government certainly did not want revealed, like the My Lai massacre during the Vietnam War, and  the torture of prisoners at Abu Ghraib in Baghdad.

And I personally I have no problem believing that the story of Bin Laden's death is not precisely as it has been told to the American public.

However it seems that Hersh may have allowed his frustration with how the Obama administration has conducted foreign relations get the better of him this time.

Just more proof that CNN is becoming Fox News lite.

Courtesy of Mediaite:

A CNN chyron covering the turmoils of the Navy SEAL who claims to have shot Osama bin Laden accidentally made the typo we all thought was no more after the terrorist leader died.

You know I am sure that this is nothing more than an accident, and that the folks at CNN certainly did not mean to suggest that a Navy Seal had killed the President of the United States. But still....don't they have editors and proof readers?

Sarah Palin takes to Facebook to double down on her Waterboarding/Baptism remarks.

"I meant what I said, and I say what I meant, I am just an idiot 100%."
Courtesy of the Lunatic from Lake Lucille's Facebook page:

Actions to stop terrorists who’d utterly annihilate America and delight in massacring our innocent children? Darn right I’d do whatever it takes to foil their murderous jihadist plots – including waterboarding. Whatever one thinks of my one-liner at the NRA rally about treating evil terrorists the way they deserve to be treated to prevent the death of innocent people, it’s utterly absurd for MSNBC to suggest that I could put our beloved troops in harm’s way, but we’ve come to expect the absurd from that failing network. If you want to talk about what really harms our troops, let’s talk about politicians who gut our military’s budgets, or a president whose skewed budgetary priorities slash military benefits, or an administration that puts our vets on endless waiting lists for care that comes too late to help those who’ve paid the price for our freedom, or those who break bread with those who think it makes no difference how our military heroes died in Benghazi or anywhere else trying to protect America. Those actions are a heck of a lot more harmful than declaring an appropriate message our enemies should receive. If some overly sensitive wusses took offense, remember the First Amendment doesn’t give you a right not to be offended. Perhaps hypocritical folks who only want Freedom of Speech to apply to those who agree with their liberal agenda might want to consider that the evil terrorists who were the brunt of my one-liner would be the first to strip away ALL our rights if given the chance. That’s why we do whatever we can to prevent them from killing innocent people. And for that, we should NEVER apologize. Good Lord, critics... buck up or stay in the truck. And if you love freedom, thank our troops! Thank our vets! And thank those who have the brains to support them and the guts to defend what they have earned!

- Sarah Palin

Well it looks like SOMEBODY'S ghostwriter stepped out for a quick smoke and left the Wasilla Wendigo pounding on her keyboard. "Overly sensitive wusses?" Really?

Of course as everybody outside of the Bush administration will now admit, torture did not keep Americans safe, nor did it help to find Osama Bin Laden.

In fact as this Daily Beast article explains, it actually hurt the U.S.:

We will never know how much information the U.S. lost because it failed to use time-tested, effective, and humane methods of interrogation. We will never know how many years earlier bin Laden could have been captured and how many lives spared if, instead of whisking them off to a prison outside the law, the U.S. had instead charged Mohammed and al Libi in federal courts and treated them properly and in accordance with due process. We do know that bin Laden’s death does not end the threat terrorists pose to the U.S. and other nations. But we also know that the best way to guard against future attack is by rejecting the use of torture outright and staying faithful to the rule of law and basic tenets of decency. This is true not only because it is the right thing to do, but because it works.

All Palin has demonstrated with her truly horrific remarks is that she knows NOTHING about fighting terrorism, and nothing about how much American lost when it allowed fear to frighten it into forget who we are, and what we once stood for.

And now she has helped to remind people what a colossal mistake it would have been to let her anywhere NEAR the White House, and the office of the President.

Just another reality check.

Seriously, could ANYBODY ELSE have done a better job?

And then you throw in the never ending obstructionism from the Republicans, and it is almost enough to convince me that Barack Obama really IS "The One."

Movie about assassination of Osama Bin Laden to be televised 48 hours before election day. Oh Republicans are not going to be happy about this!

Courtesy of The Guardian:

Film producer Harvey Weinstein may prove to be the secret weapon of the Barack Obama re-election campaign thanks to a film about the killing of Osama Bin Laden that is set to air on US TV just 48 hours before polling day.

Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden is the first high-profile dramatisation of the attack on the al-Qaida leader's Pakistan hide-out. The incident, in May 2011, was widely regarded as a coup for the Obama administration, following former President Bush's failed seven-year attempt to catch Bin Laden "dead or alive".

Produced by the Weinstein Company, the film will be broadcast on the National Geographic Channel on Sunday 4 November. "While some of the characterisations have been dramatised for creative reasons, the core story is an accurate portrayal of an event that ended the longest manhunt in American history," the channel said in a statement.

Okay usually I just pooh pooh the Right Wing's conspiracy theories, but THIS time I think that we can definitely say that timing for the release of this movie is purely political.

And do you know what? It will very likely have some positive impact for the President too.

Forgive me if I don't get too bothered by the fact that the signature talking point of the GOP, going after terrorists and keeping America safe, has been usurped by President Obama, and will very likely contribute greatly to his reelection.

15% of conservative Ohioans believe that Mitt Romney should get the credit for killing Osama Bin Laden. WTF?

"Wait, you think the Mormon guy killed me? Hell with Fox News you don't even need terrorism to destroy your country anymore, do you?"
Courtesy of Addicting Info:

When asked “Who is more responsible for Osama bin Laden’s death, Barack Obama or Mitt Romney?”, 15% of Ohioan voters who identified themselves as “very” conservative gave credit not to the Commander in Chief and mission strategist, but to former Governor Mitt Romney … ummm … say what??! Also, 6% of “somewhat conservative” people named Mitt as their pick for the bin Laden operation mastermind.

Liberals fared better, but, surprisingly, 4% of “very liberal” Ohioans still give Romney (Yes, the man who last held state-level office FIVE YEARS AGO) the nod for killing bin Laden.

Perhaps more disturbingly, a whopping 1 in 3 Ohioans surveyed (31%) said they were not sure who was responsible for bin Laden’s death, with 51% of America’s far-right and 14% of America’s presumed far-left not knowing the answer. This is America’s (mis)-information system at work!

And THIS is the result of allowing Fox News to present themselves as a "news" organization to the people of America. The people are almost so stupid that they no longer know what day of the week it is anymore.

Okay that made my head hurt.

P.S. You can read the mind numbing information for yourself here at this PPP poll.

The Swiftboating of President Obama. Yes, believe it or not, they are actually going to go there.

I am not usually a fan of Michael Smerconish, but I think this is an episode of Hardball that all of us need to see. Though I doubt you will like it very much.

What Jon Solz says about that birther general is absolutely correct, which you can read here for yourself:

President Barack Obama is a socialist, was raised by communists, and wasn't born in the United States, according to the former Navy SEAL who founded the group Special Operations Speaks (SOS), which aims to portray Obama as anti-military in this election season.

Earlier this week, a different group of former Navy SEALS calling themselves the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund rolled out its campaign to criticize Obama for leaking national security information and taking what it believes as undue credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden. That group claims to be non-political.

But the founder of SOS, a similar group with the same mission and the same tactics, says he has no problem admitting that he is against Obama's politics, personality, and believes that America's current president is lying about his origins.

"I have to admit that I'm a Birther," said SOS founder Larry Bailey, a retired 27-year veteran of the Navy SEALs, in an interview. "If there were a jury of 12 good men and women and the evidence were placed before them, there would be absolutely no question Barack Obama was not born where he said he was and is not who he says he is."

So there you have it, right there is the mindset that is behind this scurrilous and hateful piece of propaganda. This POS is an embarrassment to his rank, to his service, and to his country. Obviously a man completely lacking in honor.

These Right Wingers are desperate to find something, ANYTHING to use to go after this President and they are demonstrating that there is nothing that is too low for them to use to smear him and keep him from serving a second term. Personally I am disgusted with these assholes!

Just a reminder of what is pissing off the hawks in the Republican party.

Traditionally the Republicans have OWNED the idea of being the party that is strong on defense, but Obama has brilliantly usurped that role and now all they have left is to attack him on not being able to repair the economy they systematically destroyed fast enough.

Pathetic!

(For those concerned this might be a misquote, go here for the source.)

Okay well now the Obama campaign is getting serious, and putting the BIG DOG into the fight.

President Clinton was the FIRST political candidate that I could not wait to vote for, twice.

He damn near broke my heart with the Monica Lewinsky scandal, but nobody can doubt his political chops and ability to speak to the people.  With him campaigning for Obama the Republicans really have their work cut out for them.

President Obama discusses the rising cost of gas in his Weekly Address.

Since the economy has improved, the job market has seen a steady increase, and the President has established himself as a great Commander-in-Chief when it comes to national security, the Republicans are desperately hoping that high gas prices are one thing he cannot fix before the election.

The fact is he is doing more than just about any of his predecessors in addressing the problem, but his opponents and critics are confident it will not be fast enough. It is kind of like bitching that you don't have any fresh vegetables to eat while the farmer is at that moment still planting the seeds.

Of course the truth is that these GOP windbags could not do a SINGLE THING to lower gas prices either. But then they don't have to since they are not now, nor ever will be, the President.

By the way did you all catch the recent report that says Bin Laden was actively plotting to kill the President before he was killed?

“The reason for concentrating on them is that Obama is the head of infidelity and killing him automatically will make Biden take over the presidency,” the message said, according to the account by Ignatius, who said he was given an opportunity to view the records. “Biden is totally unprepared for that post, which will lead the U.S. into a crisis.”

He thought Joe Biden was "unprepared for that post?" Really?

You know what that tells me? That Bin Laden hoped that Biden would lose in the 2012 elections and that he would only have one of these bumbling Republicans to deal with afterward.

Knowing them they would probably launch a war on Iran, Syria, and re-invade Iraq again, while once again pimping the idea of a "War on terrorism." And of course THAT is exactly what Al-Qaeda wants their American puppets to do.

After all George Bush jumped through every hoop they held up. Why expect anything different from this crop of losers?

Point. Set. Match. President Obama makes the GOP eat their words.

Just pause this video at the 1:20 mark and take a look at the President's "Don't fuck with me" face.

This is not a President, whether you agree with his foreign policy decisions or not, that can be accused of appeasing ANYBODY.

You Republican might as well go back to calling him a socialist, since this avenue of attack ain't gonna cut it!

Monday, October 24, 2011

Just a reminder.

I can't speak for everyone, but personally I love this, and think it should be e-mailed to EVERY so called liberal who feels that slamming our President for the things he has NOT done, is more important than giving him credit for the things he HAS done.

(H/T to Andrew Sullivan.)

The difference between the Bush doctriine and the so called Obama doctrine, is that the Obama doctrine WORKS!

Getting kind of lonely in the land of despots, don'tcha think?

The George W. Bush solution to terrorism and aggression (or just perceived aggression) toward the United States was to send military troops into a foreign country and lose thousands of American lives and spend trillions of American dollars, while failing to accomplish his goal.

The Barack Obama approach is to think a problem through clearly and then solve it.

Or perhaps to put it more eloquently...

I don't know about everybody else, but I REALLY prefer the "Obama Doctrine" don't you?

President Obama MIGHT be starting to lose his patience with the Republicans.

I would pay big money to see the President start off his next Weekly Address like this.

Yes, I know it would be a bad idea.

(But I would still love it!)
