Donald Trump signs pardon for former Dick Cheney chief of staff Scooter Libby. Wait, what?

Wait, who pardoned me?
Courtesy of ABC News:

President Donald Trump is poised to pardon Scooter J. Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, according to sources familiar with the president’s thinking.

The president has already signed off on the pardon, which is something he has been considering for several months, sources told ABC News.

The move would mark another controversial pardon for Trump and could raise questions as an increasing number of the president’s political allies have landed themselves in legal jeopardy. The White House has repeatedly said that no pardons are currently on the table for people caught up in the Russia investigation.

You may remember that Trump already pardoned Joe Arpaio, which at least made a little more sense than this.

So why would Trump pardon a dude that was convicted of lying to the FBI and obstructing justice during the Bush Administration?

Please, what are you new here?
Yeah, what he said.

This is more of Trump's mob boss mentality at work.

"Yeah hey Vinnie, don't youse worry about getting pinched by the coppers. We will have you out in no time. We take care of our own in the Costa Nostra."

No pardon for Ted Stevens!

So just today George Bush pardoned those two border agents, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, who were sent to prison for shooting and seriously wounding a Mexican drug dealer in Texas in 2005. The case got tons of press attention and many on both sides of the aisle thought that their sentence was too harsh. So no surprise there.

Speaking of pardons as many of you know Lisa Murkowski recently asked for a pardon for her friend and mentor Ted Stevens. Well today was the last day for Goerge W. Bush to grant pardons, did Uncle Ted make the cut?

There had been speculation that President Bush would grant clemency to some high-profile defendants, but the White House official said the two ex-agents would be the last to benefit.

I. Lewis Libby Jr., former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, could have been granted a pardon for his role in the leaking of a C.I.A. agent’s name and an attempted cover-up. In July 2007, Mr. Libby’s prison sentence was commuted. Nor was there any clemency for former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, who in late October was convicted of ethics violations for not reporting gifts and services given by friends. Mr. Stevens would lose his bid for a seventh term.

I am not all that surprised that Ted did not get a pardon, but Bush left Scooter Libby flapping in the breeze. Methinks that someday Libby may want to reward George W. with a tell all book.

What do you think?

The White House wants us to believe that the Libby commutation fallout is not bothering them. I don't buy it.

The White House on Thursday made fun of former President Clinton and his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, for criticizing President Bush's decision to erase the prison sentence of former aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

"I don't know what Arkansan is for chutzpah, but this is a gigantic case of it," presidential spokesman Tony Snow said.

Yeah well I don't know what the Texas word for ass kisser is either, but I know Bush calls you that when you are out of earshot.

Or hell, maybe he says it right to your hypocritical face.

Asshole.

Bill Clinton blasts Bush's interference in Libby case.

Former President Bill Clinton blasted his successor's decision to spare former White House aide Lewis "Scooter" Libby from prison, telling Iowa radio listeners that Libby's case differed from his own administration's pardon controversy.

"You've got to understand, this is consistent with their philosophy," Clinton said during an interview on Des Moines news-talk station WHO.

Bush administration officials, he said, "believe that they should be able to do what they want to do, and that the law is a minor obstacle."

I have been very disappointed that Bill has not weighed in more often on the terrible things that Bush has done to this country. He, more then almost anybody, has the kind of perspective that would carry a lot of weight with the American people.

Jimmy Carter has certainly not been shy, and Clinton should have been outspoken as well.

I would hate to think he stayed quiet in deference to his wife's political aspirations.

Romney shows his true colors, supports Libby commutation.

Defending Bush, Romney said at a campaign stop that "the president looked very carefully at the setting" before deciding to commute the 2 1/2-year sentence of Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, who was convicted in the CIA leak case.

The prosecutor in the case "went after somebody even when he knew no crime had been committed," Romney said. "Given that fact, isn't it reasonable for a commutation of a portion of the sentence to be made?"

It seems that Mitt also completely misrepresents the case against Libby to make some ridiculous political points with the far right. Libby was sentenced to lying under oath and interfering with an investigation, not with leaking Valerie Plame's name.

So it seems that Mormons are not above hypocrisy any more then those that hide behind other religious accoutrement's.

So for those keeeping track that is Duncan Hunter, Mitt Romney, and I am sure that ex-Nixon mole Fred Thompson will soon follow suit since he has been calling for a pardon all along.

Bush springs Scooter Libby!

President Bush commuted the sentence of former aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby Monday, sparing him from a 2 1/2-year prison term in the CIA leak case.

So the very crime that Republicans felt was reason enough to impeach Bill Clinton is not enough to make Dick Cheney's Chief of Staff serve a sentence that he was given by our judicial system.

Hypocrisy rules the Republican party, and George Bush has shown himself to be a man sympathetic with criminals so long as they were busted doing his bidding.

P.S. Barack Obama is the first of the Democratic Presidential hopefusl to respond.

"This decision to commute the sentence of a man who compromised our national security cements the legacy of an Administration characterized by a politics of cynicism and division, one that has consistently placed itself and its ideology above the law. This is exactly the kind of politics we must change so we can begin restoring the American people's faith in a government that puts the country's progress ahead of the bitter partisanship of recent years."

I could not agree more.

"Scooter" is scooting off to prison.

Former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison Tuesday for lying and obstructing the CIA leak investigation.

Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, stood calmly before a packed courtroom as a federal judge said the evidence overwhelmingly proved his guilt.

"People who occupy these types of positions, where they have the welfare and security of nation in their hands, have a special obligation to not do anything that might create a problem," U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton said.

Libby was convicted in March of lying and obstructing an investigation into the 2003 leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.

I can only hope that he gets sent to a PMITA (pound me in the ass) prison rather then one of those minimum security Club Med kind of facilities.

You know if Scooter had just admitted that his boss Dick Cheney was an evil bastard who broke the law he could be brokering a book deal right now instead of trying to stretch out his anus to prepare for his impending starring role in the weekly prison orgy.

What does it mean when a witness pleads the fifth? It means they have something to hide!

Monica Goodling, a senior Justice Department official involved in the firings of federal prosecutors, will refuse to answer questions at upcoming Senate hearings, citing Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination, her lawyer said Monday.

"The potential for legal jeopardy for Ms. Goodling from even her most truthful and accurate testimony under these circumstances is very real," said the lawyer, John Dowd.

"One need look no further than the recent circumstances and proceedings involving Lewis Libby," he said, a reference to the recent conviction of Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff in the CIA leak case.

Am I the only one who realizes that "Scooter" Libby was found guilty of perjury because he lied?

If Monica Gooding does not want to be charged with perjury then all she has to do is to tell the damn truth! How fucking hard is that?

But if she feels she cannot tell the truth then I have to say that there is more here then meets the eye, and the Democrats better keep digging.
