Now for some good news. God told Michele Bachmann NOT to run for the Senate.

Over the weekend, Bachmannn told End Times radio host Jan Markell that after much prayer, she has decided that God does not, in fact, want her to make a bid for this seat. 

“I’m not going to run for that office,” she said. “I had a lot of people contacting me, wanting to give me money and be a part of my team to run for a campaign … But what I did is I did what I have done on every other time I thought about running: I took it to the Lord in a very quiet way, I took it before the Lord, I prayed, I tried to have my ears open and hear what God was saying to me.” 

“I considered it for quite a long time,” Bachmann continued. “From the very first day when Al Franken had announced his resignation from the U.S. Senate, I went before the Lord and it became very clear to me that I wasn’t hearing any call from God to do this.” 

“I’ve always prayed and tried to seek out what God’s will for me would be,” she added, “and each time before, I’ve had this inner sense that I’m supposed to do this, I’m supposed to run. It doesn’t mean a guarantee that I’ll win, all it means is that that’s what I sensed in my spirit, that God wanted me to run. I had absolutely no sense from the Lord at all that I was supposed to run this time.” 

“I just had no sense from the Lord that this is something that I should do right now,” Bachmann said, “so I’m not going to do it.”

You know, that's almost enough to make you believe in a higher power.

Bachmann appeared on Christian broadcaster Jim Bakker’s program and said that she has “had people contact me and urge me to run for that Senate seat” that will soon be vacated by outgoing Sen. Al Franken. 

However, she told Bakker that she was wary about wading into the Senate race because she’s worried about paying a price that she described as “bigger than ever” because “the Swamp is so toxic.” 

Bachmann lamented that she wasn’t a “billionaire” who had the funds to properly defend herself against attacks against her reputation, but she said that she would consider getting into the ring if God gave her the okay. 

“I fulfilled the calling that God gave me,” Bachmann said of her unsuccessful 2012 presidential run. “So the question is, am I being called to do this now? I don’t know.”

Oh damn I did not realize that this was something that I wanted until I saw that video.

Bachmann running for that seat in Minnesota to replace the amazing AL Franken, would be a blogger's dream come true. 

And my favorite part is that she is discussing this on Jim Bakker's batshit crazy Christian fleecing program, where he sells things to the gullible like "End of Days" food products, and that she really thinks she did well in her last attempt to win the GOP nomination for President.

Oh yeah, I don't care if God never gets back to her on this, she needs to run.

It would be such an easy seat for the Democrats to keep if she did.

Bill O'Reilly does not blame himself for being a sexual deviant, he blames God for letting him get caught.

Bill O'Reilly has repeatedly blamed reports of sexual misconduct on a politically motivated media. On Monday, he admitted that he also blames a higher power. 

"You know, am I mad at God? Yeah, I'm mad at him," O'Reilly said on the latest episode of his web series, "No Spin News." "I wish I had more protection. I wish this stuff didn't happen. I can't explain it to you. Yeah, I'm mad at him."

Damn, I have heard about people being completely incapable of self awareness, but to actually blame the God who claim to worship instead of taking responsibility for your actions is a whole new level of denial.

I think in many ways Bill O'Reilly is an emotional doppelganger to Donald Trump.

Two arrogant megalomaniacs completely unable to accept responsibility for their mistakes and determined to shift the blame to anybody else.

Even if they are an imaginary sky god.

P.S. I wonder if O'Reilly also blames God for his talent agency dropping him like a hot potato after learning about that 32 million dollar payout?

After keeping his doors locked while Texas drowned, Joel Osteen invites flood survivors into his church and then tries to fleece them.

A televangelist whose church closed its doors during Hurricane Harvey claims that he is the victim of “misinformation” and told flood victims not to have a “poor me” attitude. 

In his Sunday sermon, multimillionaire pastor Joel Osteen addressed the criticism that has been directed at him after his 16,000 seat Houston megachurch initially closed its doors during the storm, in which thousands of people were left homeless and 40 were killed. 

Pictures and video posted on social media showed the church apparently undamaged by the storm, and Osteen initially claimed he had not opened its doors because he had not been asked to by the state. The church re-opened Tuesday, as floodwaters began to recede. 

“You know I really believe in these times of difficulty it's, for me, certainly not the time to question your faith but to turn to your faith because God is the one that gives you the strength to make it through the difficult times," he said in a video of Sunday's sermon posted on YouTube. 

“We are not going to understand everything that happens but, you know, having a 'poor old me' mentality or 'look what I lost' or 'why did this happen', that's just going to pull you down. Like we've been talking about all night, you just got to turn it over and say 'God you're still on the throne'.”

Yeah don't get a "poor old me" attitude just because your home was swept away by the flood and you lost everything. After all on the bright side Joel Osteen's church was completely untouched and he is still a very, very wealthy man.

However as bad as this completely out of touch sentiment was, it was not the worst of it.

On Saturday, the day before Osteen made his comments, his sister led a service.

In a video from a Saturday service at Lakewood Church, his sister Lisa Osteen Comes asks for the Hurricane Harvey survivors to stand up so that people could “touch” and “lay hands” on them. Before she does that though, she sends the ushers into the auditorium to start passing around collection plates. As they do, she throws out false words of comfort and carefully avoids ever telling these poor people that the church would help them. Instead, she keeps saying that God will. 

“All these people who stood tonight, they have needs, and financial needs, and you know, I just feel like we should pray for them that God is going to bless them with unprecedented favor in the next coming days and the next coming weeks and the next coming months because you know they have a lot of calls to make, they have a lot of work to get done, and their lives were so interrupted, but you know what we can trust God that it will go smoother than anyone could ever imagine.” 

Comes then called for the congregation to “touch them, hold hands with them…let’s touch them, let’s just let them know we’re praying for them and let’s believe right now that God is going to move supernaturally in their favor.”

So yes this woman actually sent out ushers to ask for donations from the people who had just lost EVERYTHING.

Comes actually went a little further than that and suggested that the flooding might turn out to be a good thing as God will likely reward them with better homes and more prosperity.

That is the trick that these people use to convince morons to give them their last nickle in the belief that God will reward their generosity with great wealth, health, and happiness.

It's really too bad that I don't believe in Hell, because if ever there were people who deserved a standing reservation in that place it is these slimy pieces of shit.

Remember those blasphemy charges against Stephen Fry in Ireland? Yeah, that didn't take.

An Irish police investigation into allegedly blasphemous comments made by Stephen Fry has been dropped after detectives decided there were not enough people who had been outraged by the remarks. 

Police launched an investigation into the presenter, author and comedian after he described God as "capricious", "mean-minded", "stupid" and an "utter maniac" during an appearance on Irish television show "The Meaning of Life" in February 2015. 

The comments were widely reported but did not become a legal matter until a man complained last year, prompting a police enquiry. 

After initial inquiries, officers decided that not enough people had been outraged by Mr Fry's remarks to warrant further investigation, according to the Irish Independent. 

A source told the paper: "This man was simply a witness and not an injured party. Gardaí (Irish police) were unable to find a substantial number of outraged people. 

"For this reason the investigation has been concluded."

So IF they police had found enough people who were sufficiently outraged by the comments, they could have charge Fry?

Well guess where I'm not going on vacation. 

Apparently Ireland still retains archaic anti-blasphemy laws. You know, like that bastion of progressiveness Pakistan. 

In my opinion there is no such thing as blasphemy.

You simply cannot insult an imaginary creature.

That would be like if I was arrested for teasing that a unicorn was nothing but a gay horse.

I mean, come on.

I think it is high time that Ireland join the rest of the Western world in the 21st century, and stop catering to the feelings of religious snowflakes. 

Actor Stephen Fry is being investigated for blasphemy in Ireland for calling God a "maniac." Okay this is still 2017, right?

Stephen Fry is being investigated by Irish police over blasphemy claims more than two years after his outspoken comments about God on RTE's The Meaning of Life went viral. 

Mr Fry described a hypothetical creator as “stupid” and an “utter maniac” for designing a world filled with undue suffering. 

Asked in 2015 by the programme's host, Gay Byrne, what he would say to God if he arrived at the pearly gates of heaven, the actor and author replied: “I’d say, bone cancer in children? What’s that about?” 

The committed atheist added: “How dare you? How dare you create a world to which there is such misery that is not our fault? It’s not right, it’s utterly, utterly evil. 

“Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid god who creates a world that is so full of injustice and pain? “We have to spend our life on our knees thanking him? What kind of god would do that? 

“The god who created this universe, if it was created by god, is quite clearly a maniac, an utter maniac, totally selfish.” 

A Gardai spokeswoman told The Independent: “We're not commenting on an ongoing investigation.”

I have seen some version of this video over a dozen times, and I still LOVE it.

What a wonderful response to a stupid question.

Keep in mind this is not happening in Saudi Arabia or Iran, this is happening in freaking Ireland, a place that I think most of us believed to be here with us in the 21st century.

Apparently it also a place where one can be punished for daring to speak ill of a imaginary being.

Neil deGrasse Tyson explains how the evidence fails to support the existence of God.

Tyson said that if science and inquiry someday leads to evidence of a creator, then that’s “not a problem.” But that’s not where we’re at now. 

“There’s just no evidence of it.” 

“And this is why religions are called ‘faiths’ collectively,” he continued. “Because you believe something in the absence of evidence. That’s what it is. That’s why it’s called ‘faith.’ Otherwise we would call all religions ‘evidence,’ but we don’t for exactly that reason.”

It seems like I rarely get to touch on another of my favorite topics, which is religion and the existence of God these days.

This is STILL in my opinion an incredibly important topic, as religious faith continues to have a significant impact on our politics, foreign relations, and social interactions.

If I believe in anything, it is that what is very important to the survival of our species is that we stop looking for differences which allow us to hate and war against each other, and instead focus on what we have in common, which would then allow us to focus on solving the very real problems we face together.

It is my opinion that one of the main filters we use to find differences with each other in 2017 is still differing religious faiths, and that the very fact that it remains so indicates that we are allowing primitive superstitions to actively interfere in our ability to grow closer together as a community.

That is why I feel it is important to raise awareness about the lack of evidence to support any and all religious faiths, as well as how religion is used to separate and manipulate us into doing things that are ultimately not in our best interests.

I think this interview with NDT, helps to move us a little further in that direction.

Reverend Sarah Palin preaches that we are weak, pathetic, and nothing without God. Well there's a happy thought!

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10 (Keep in minds kids that this is the person who claims that SHE is the real personification of feminism in this country, NOT those courageous women who demonstrated their ability to stand on their own without a man and demanded to be treated as equals. Clearly they were not weak enough.)

There’s nothing like the feeling you get as a mama or a daddy when a child reaches out to you. Little children, by design, are dependent on you for food, protection, and love. (Well I do agree with this at least.)

Guess what, Mom and Dad: We’re all designed to be dependent on God. In fact, we can’t get through life without Him. If you’re like me, you sometimes forget this. We think we’re in control, and – just like our kids – we sometimes forget the true source of our help and protection. (Yes citizens of the 21st Century, always keep in mind that you have achieved NOTHING and that there is an invisible man in the sky who is eternally seeing you as a needy helpless child.)

Only when the winds of persecution begin to blow are we reminded of our weaknesses. In the midst of spiritual battle, we have no one else to turn to but the One really in control. We come face to face with our humanity – our limitations – and we are left seeking the strength and perspective that only comes from above. (Or you could face your adversity, overcome it, and become stronger for the conflict. Just a thought.)

This, friends, is actually a blessing of difficulties, hardships, insults, and persecution: we’re given the opportunity to truly rely on our Maker. Persecution strips us of false notions we have about our own strength, and reminds us where the real stuff can be found – in the arms of our Heavenly Father! Sweet Freedom in Action (WTF?)

Take a break in the arms of the Father, even now. Ask for Him to take control of all areas of your life where you’ve insisted on being in the driver’s seat. (Okay now I think I understand why pedophilia is so rampant within the church. These people are conditioned to be victims.)

Look there is no sense in my suggesting that I understand this even a little bit.

As you know I am not a religious person and find the entire concept to be an obstacle to attaining our destiny as human beings. 

But seriously HOW does this kind of thinking help us to overcome life's many obstacles?

I was very fortunate to be taught at an early age to strive for perfection and to push my limits until I could push no more.

As a result I won championships, set records, and overcame my insecurities, none of which would have been possible if I were told to "delight in weaknesses."

I taught gymnastics to young people, self defense to women, and necessary life skills to the emotionally and mentally fragile.

At no time in my life have I ever told a single person that "when they are weak, they are strong."

Hell no! When you are strong you are strong, and when you are weak it is only because you are at the beginning of your journey to becoming strong.

As human beings we have proven ourselves to be capable of amazing discoveries, courageous adventures, and awe inspiring accomplishments.

Just imagine how much more we could have achieved if there were not those preaching to us that we are nothing, and can do nothing, without the assistance of a celestial patriarch?

Why the discussion of religion is so important.

I often get blowback for my "attacks" on religion.

Those attacks of course are often simply a post about the lack of historic evidence or the ignorance of accepting things without a factual basis to support their existence.

However as I often suggest there is probably no more important topic to openly discuss, argue, and examine than the impact of religion in the world today.

For instance the case can be made that much of terrorism is fueled by religious fanaticism.

It also holds true that much of our current prejudices stem from a religious origin.

The same is of course true of sexism, after all patriarchal ideals are pervasive throughout the Old Testament.

And perhaps most currently impactful is that blind faith also opens one up to the kinds of manipulations that served the Russians so well when they interfered in our last presidential election.

Yes, I am suggesting that religious faith is a large part of the reason that we have Donald Trump as our president.

So yes, openly discussing religion is quite, quite important.

Sarah Palin uses outdated stalker story to fail miserably to make a religious point.

Once again from the Church of Palinology:

…the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. Psalm 34:16 

Last fall on a peaceful Sunday afternoon, Bristol was returning home with Tripp when she sensed something was wrong. Someone was waiting for her on her front steps. 

The stranger said he’d been waiting; he told Bristol he wanted her time. 

She knew immediately this was a stalker who’d sent thousands of bizarre, threatening messages to her through Facebook and other means. Even after she’d blocked him, he’d assume different identities, delusionally insisting he worked for me and had a relationship with Willow, and he ramped up his dangerous harassment of Bristol. When she realized this guy had come all the way from Florida to Alaska for some kind of encounter, she grabbed Tripp and ran for help. We’d been through this before. This particular stalker ended up in jail, and there are others in or out of jail today who’ve stalked our family. They’re messed up men used by the enemy to commit acts of evil. 

One may nonchalantly take the above Scripture figuratively until something bad happens. Then you understand how God preserves your life. We’ve had many disturbing, even dangerous moments since my family was thrust into the spotlight in 2008. This past year was particularly trying. For us it’s been imperative that we remember God is greater than the enemy of our soul. He’s more powerful, and His omnipotence holds our destinies. I cannot fathom how it would be not to have this promise to cling to. I pray for everyone reading this devotional that whatever threats they might face, their faith will pull them through.

Starting a little further back at Psalm 34:11. King James version of course, this reads:

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Essentially this is a psalm bragging on God's power to destroy evil, and to remind the faithful not to stray.

I am especially taken with this section:
  
Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

Both Sarah and Bristol have written books attacking those they disagree with, in fact Palin made a whole career out of it for years.

I should also mention that this story that Palin says happened "last fall" actually happened almost three years ago.

So right there she is lying.

It should also be pointed out that God did NOT "blot out" this stalker's "name from the earth."

Instead Bristol took the secular path of relying on the local police for protection, and the courts to keep her that way.

So one has to wonder if Bristol somehow failed to demonstrate the adequate amount of religious devotion in order to earn God's protection, and rather than "blot out" this man's name he instead allowed him to make it all the way to Alaska where he terrified Bristol and forced her to rely on more modern methods to keep her safe?

In other words Palin's story essentially illustrates exactly why one should not place all of their faith in God, and should instead take responsibility for their own welfare and the welfare of their loved ones.

Sarah Palin makes a truly pathetic online preacher.

Yet another failure to add to her ever growing list of failures.

Okay so it has been awhile I thought it was about time to go ahead and see what the Wasilla Wendigo has been up to.

Well mostly scouring Donald Trump's withered orange ball sack with her tongue actually, but also occasionally stepping up to the pulpit to preach to the handful or supporters who still give two shits about what she has to say.

And so it was yesterday with a "Daily Devotional" about giving.

No I did not type that incorrectly, it is about giving.

Of course the post starts out with a Bible verse that I imagine somebody looked up for her just for this occasion.

Then Palin turns the hypocrisy up to eleven and this is the result: 

Growing up, I was taught that the Bible says we can “test” God in our tithes and offerings. Without fail, He always repays when we give. (Yeah, okay that is demonstrably untrue.) It’s been fun to pass that lesson on to my kids because they clearly see the proof. 

The blessing of giving is participating in it willingly – cheerfully even. Our government has it backward. Politicians put their hands in someone else’s pocket instead of treating other people’s hard-earned money as they would their own. In Washington, there’s too much addiction to OPM (other people’s money). (This from a woman who quite literally lived on the donations to her SuperPAC from idiots who believed she was actually someday going to run for president.) In fact, when politicians’ personal finances have to be disclosed when they run for office, some of the most self-described compassionate liberals are revealed as the least charitable. (I'm sorry, where are Donald Trump's tax returns again?)

That’s not God’s plan. He’s calling us to step up. The easy way out is to simply depend on the government to hand out everything, bu (I think that was supposed to be "but.") the first lesson in any good Econ 101 course is: “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.” (Don't your children receive free health care for being part native? Why yes, yes they do.) Our government was never intended to rob from Peter to give to Paul. Safety nets? Yes. Unnecessary government dependency? No. Joy, blessings, and productivity are found in voluntary giving, in personally providing help to the needy. (Literally not a self aware bone in this lunatic's body. Remember the family motto? "What's in it for us?")

Today, give something extravagant to God, not out of guilt or obligation, but because you delight in God’s generosity and want to emulate it!

Now I have to admit that the idea of tithing has always really bothered me.

After all for what use does a creature with the ability to create something out of nothing have for money?

And why do people need to pay to have a priest, pastor, or minister explain a book to them that they can all read for themselves?

Yeah, that just never made sense to me.

So there you go, what Sarah Palin is up when she is not giving Donald Trump a good ball washing is honing her televangelist skills, which clearly still need some work.

Sarah Palin believes news story about found Bible pages in the wake of a fire that killed three people and burned over a hundred structures show "the hand of God."

I do not blame you for not clicking the link which goes to that Young Conservatives website that Palin has been pimping lately.

In the story a Dollywood employee sifts through the devastation left by that Tennessee fire and shares this story:

McCord, 24, sat on the bench where he found the paper, and called Carver over. Their work partners, Dollywood wardrobe manager Angela Davis and employee Kimberly Moore, had left to go to the restroom, McCord said. 

In silence, the pair pored over the page, the edges of which were burned black, rendering many words illegible. But parts of the right side of the page were preserved enough to get the message across: it perfectly reflected, McCord said, the tragic natural disaster that had thrust Gatlinburg and Sevier County into the national spotlight the night before. 

"O Lord, to thee will I cry: For the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field," the page reads, according to a picture of the page posted on McCord's Facebook.

"At first, we didn't know what part of the book it was from," McCord said on Tuesday night, "but we saw bits and pieces about fire and scorching the land, and how the beast groaned and roared for help." 

The page appears to be from the first chapter of Joel from the King James version of the Bible. 

"We were like this is unreal, this is unbelievable," McCord said. "When we had both fully read it, we looked at each other — and I will never forget this moment — we both burst into tears. I was ghost white, and we just prayed. There was nothing else to do.. Still to this moment, almost four hours after the fact, I don't have words for it.

I have words for it:

"Ridiculous"

"Pathetic"

 "Confirmation bias"

Apparently Palin believes that these pages represent the "hand of God" sending some kind of message to these volunteers, however in the beginning of this article it points out that the fire was responsible for "destroying more than 150 structures, killing at least three people and displacing thousands."

If there were actually a message to be gleaned from this it would surely be "I hate you all and I want to see you burn!"

NO wonder these people are the preferred targets for scammer and charlatans from all over the world.

Perhaps why fundamentalist Christians don't like psychology.

Let's see Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, Pat Robertson, and Ted Cruz all claimed, or had supporters who claimed on their behalf, that God chose them to run for President.

So if past is prologue I would suggest that a blessing from God is the kiss of death for a candidate.

However I would like to believe that if there were a God he would be doing everything in his considerable power to keep this lunatic away from the White House, not help him to get there.

Christian workbook gives instruction for how to explain to homeschool students why God would allow a child to be molested.

The folks at Homeschoolers Anonymous recently got their hands on some old workbook pages used at the Institute of Basic Life Principles. That would be the Christian ministry founded by Bill Gothard, a man who resigned as President a couple of years ago after 34 women accused him of sexual harassment. 

In these workbook pages, which are approximately 20 years old but still aligned with the ministry’s current teachings, students are presented with a question: “Why did God let a four year old boy be molested by a fifteen year old neighbor?” 

Besides the odd phrasing that suggests the four-year-old did something to get molested instead of focusing on the teenager who committed the crime, it’s also a really weird way to talk about why God allows bad things to happen…

Well just threw up in my mouth a little. 

As somebody who has dealt with kids who have been sexually abuses and molested I am horrified that ANYBODY would use this to "educate" an impressionable child.

In fact it reads like a manual for how to prepare children to be victimized.

There is a movie coming that will be directed by Steve Bannon (The guy who directed the Sarah Palin movie The Undefeated,), written by Rebecca Mansour, produced by Citizens United, and starring Duck Dynasty's Phil Roberston.

Right-wing moviemaking has been a growth industry in recent years, as conservative activists set out to challenge what they see as the damaging cultural impact of liberalism’s dominance in Hollywood. The latest example is “Torchbearer,” which director Steve Bannon called “a Christian war film” in remarks before a screening in Cleveland during the Republican National Convention last month. 

“Torchbearer” stars Phil Robertson, the Duck Dynasty patriarch who became a folk hero in the right-wing war on “political correctness” when the show was temporarily suspended by A&E amid controversy over Robertson's inflammatory remarks about homosexuality and black people in the pre-civil-rights-movement Louisiana. The movie was shown to distributors in Cannes and will be released in theaters in August.

The hour-long film is a collaboration between well-known right-wing groups. Bannon is executive chairman of Breitbart News; the script was written by a Breitbart editor, Rebecca Mansour. It was produced by Citizens United, the organization whose movie attacking Hillary Clinton was used by conservatives on the Supreme Court to gut regulation of political money in Citizens United the court ruling. Religious Right political operative Ralph Reed attended the premiere, and at a reception following the screening, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., took the opportunity to slam Clinton and praise the work of Citizens United.

The film is only an hour long but it manages to blame Nazi Germany on Nietzsche, mock the teaching of Evolution, use graphic images from Auschwitz and ISIS atrocities to shock and enrage, and of course blame all of the ills of the world on the "worship" of science instead of God.

My first instinct was that surely this must be something from the Onion or some other parody site, but nope it's real.

My only surprise is that Sarah Palin does not have a speaking role, nor has she endorsed or spoken of the film on Facebook.

You would think with so many of her former collaborators working on the film, that she would be pitching it to the few simple minded morons who still value her opinion.

Perhaps this is so unhinged that even SHE gave it a pass?

Nah, who are we kidding, she probably was never even told about the film.
