Sarah Palin is not convinced that Donald Trump mocked a person with disabilities, because she does not trust the news.

“Um, I don’t know entirely the context,” Palin said on SiriusXM radio. “I mean, if for sure there was mocking of one individual who does have, or any [unclear] individual who has a special need. Um, that’s bad, obviously. I’ve seen others do that. You know we saw the president mocking — while he was sitting as president — mocking those who participate in the Special Olympics.” 

“And I mean, that’s, that’s like a gut punch when you hear that kind of thing,” she continued. “I don’t like it. And, you know, everybody’s gotta be a bit better than that.”

Oh yeah GOT to attack the President in every interview right Sarah? (BTW here is the President's remark. You can decide if they constitute a "gut punch" for yourself.)

Palin goes on with her attempt to give Trump a pass: 

“Well again, I haven’t known what the whole context is, you know,” Palin added. “We’ve been uh — delved into and dived into — this book tour, so, you know, I haven’t really turned on the new in the past couple of days. But again—” 

“But respectfully, but respectfully, you’ve seen the footage, right,” interjected radio host Michael Smerconish. Palin responded she had, and if Trump mocked an individual it would be “terrible.” 

“Oh yeah, I I saw the footage, I think it was just yesterday, or two days ago,” said Palin. “Yeah. And um, again, if that was mocking an individual, if that’s accurate, then, no, you don’t — I — it’s terrible, its terrible.” 

“But um, again, I’m not gonna buy into the narrative without knowing all the facts that he purposefully was talking about, um, a New York Times reporter or editor who had the special needs — yeah, I won’t buy into it until I know the facts, but I apply that to every issue. I’m not gonna just buy into what I’m seeing on TV because I don’t trust everything that I see on TV and hear on the news.”

Gee lack of trust in the media certainly did not stop her from jumping all over the President for his one casual remark. Did it?

Well of course it doesn't, because this is Trump. And Palin needs to kiss his ass just in case he actually wins the nomination.

After all Sarah Palin's indignation only extends to non-Christians, liberals, and those who believe in facts. 

President Obama receives famous Tim Harris hug.

Inspirational restaurateur and Special Olympian Tim Harris paid a visit to the White House this week. 

Harris, of Tim's Place restaurant, was there Thursday for a Special Olympics event. 

President Barack Obama asked for one of Tim's famous hugs. When he embraced the president Tim said, "I love you Obama." In response, the president said, "I love you back." 

Later on the president recalled the jovial hug. 

"You know, presidents need some encouragement once and a while too. And that felt really good. That was nice. Thank you, Tim," Obama said. 

I think the President should get Tim a room at the White House just so he can get a hug from him on the days that he has trouble with the Republicans.

You know, everyday.

By the way I cannot help but think that if the President and Michelle had a Down syndrome kid in their family, that he would receive the best attention and therapy available.

Even IF Obama were not the President.

The dastardly duo of Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity continue their assault on President Obama. Their choice of weapons? Bill Maher, David Letterman, and Bristol Palin's ghostwritten blog.

I have to say that I find it rather fascinating that in order to hold their "poor Sarah pity party" these Fox hosts first feel it necessary to show all of the jokes about how stupid she is. It almost makes me wonder if they are not getting their OWN shots in before they have to meet their contractual agreement to defend Klondike Kardashian.

In any event I think some of those jokes are still pretty damn funny, and I like the idea that they keep being shown to Fox viewers, because you just KNOW that some of them are laughing at her too.

And it only makes it MORE humorous that, since this interview, like so many before it, is solely focused on bitching about how Palin was "treated" by the comedians, that she starts off by saying that it doesn't bother her.  Obviously it's drives her fucking crazy, THAT is why this segment exists!

After that opening Hannity, essentially frothing at the mouth (Doesn't Santorum have "frothing" copyrighted?), discusses Michelle Obama's recent appearance on the Letterman Show in a pathetic attempt to smear her by bringing up a three year old joke.

Palin's response is to take hypocrisy on a steroid binge:

"Yeah see you have a choice as to whether you will participate in that environment of the Leno's, uh not necessarily Jay Leno, he's been relatively good, but the Letterman's, and the Bill Maher's, some of the ESPN sports network teams even that have been..really ruthless against unwed teenage mothers, and those with handicaps (The entire Palin family), and women, and Christians, and Conservatives. You have a choice as to whether you will perpetuate what it is they spew by being a participant or not, and I choose not to."

Really Sarah? YOU are not a participant when somebody says horrendous things about women? Is that your claim?

“I think the definition of hypocrisy is for Rush Limbaugh to have been called out, forced to apologize and retract what it is that he said in exercising his First Amendment rights and never is that the same applied to the leftist radicals who say such horrible things about the handicapped, about women, about the defenseless,” Palin told CNN in an interview from Wasilla, Alaska. 

“So I think that’s the definition of hypocrisy, and that’s my two cents for you,” she added.

Essentially the entire reason that this attack on Bill Maher, and President Obama, has been launched using the Palin family as a cudgel, has been to provide a false equivalency smoke screen to protect Rush Limbaugh. Who is currently suffering greatly for attacking Sandra Fluke, and suggesting that she was a prostitute, a whore, and asking that she post tapes of herself having sex so that Limbaugh and others could watch them.

Palin apparently had NO trouble "being a participant" in that controversy. Did she?

Hannity quickly segues into discussing the post on Bristol Palin's Nancy French's new blog, as if Bristol had actually written it. And the Grizzled Mama does her part by pretending that she was not the person behind the site and is NOT using it in order to hide behind her children while continuing her attacks on the Left and President Obama.

But in her fervor to attack President Obama, Palin unabashedly lies about yet another three year old incident: 

"Kind of the point that Bristol was trying to make in calling out the President, and the hypocrisy there on the Left, is that our own President, mocking children and adults with special needs as he referred, mockingly, on late nigh talk show about um you know, acting goofy like those in the Special Olympics. You know that was kind of a hurtful thing for the heart of our country. And I don't think the President ever apologized for that for that. He's got very selective ways of showing compassion and feeling America's pain. Bristol was just kind of pointing out some of that, and I think it was very effective the way she did it."

Of course that entire statement about the President not apologizing after making the Special Olympics joke, which by the way was on the Jay Leno show, is ridiculous. In fact the President called the Chairman of the Special Olympic board BEFORE THE JOKE EVEN AIRED to apologize.

"He expressed his disappointment and he apologized, I think, in a way that was very moving," Tim Shriver, the chairman of the Special Olympics board, told "Good Morning America" today. 

"He expressed that he did not intend to humiliate this population, certainly didn't want to embarrass or give anybody any more reason for pain or just suffering, I would say," said Shriver, who received the call from Obama as the president was flying back to Washington. 

 "He was very sincere, expressed an interest and an openness in being more engaged in the movement, and said he was a fan of the movement and I think, importantly, he said he was ready to have some of our athletes over to the White House to bowl or play basketball or help him improve his score."

Nice try you lunatic, but this President has been very consistent in taking into consideration the needs of ALL Americans when he makes policy decisions, or speaks out on an issue, or inadvertently makes a gaffe.

And speaking of apologizing, when did YOU apologize for claiming the President "Palled around with domestic terrorists?" Or when you claimed that the Affordable Care Act contained "death panels?" And where was your apology to Gabrielle Giffords when your constant hate-filled rhetoric, as well as placing gunsights on her district, resulted in her being shot in the face?

Oh that's right, never!

Go figure.

Sarah Palin is shocked at Barack Obama's insensitive remarks toward special needs children. I am shocked at the hypocrisy.

Gov. Sarah Palin just released a statement on President Barack Obama's gaffe about the Special Olympics last night on the Tonight Show.

"I was shocked to learn of the comment made by President Obama about Special Olympics," said Palin, whose son, Trig, was born with Down syndrome last year. ("Somebody fetch the Trig! The Governor needs a prop!") "This was a degrading remark about our world’s most precious and unique people, coming from the most powerful position in the world." (Says the woman who is rejecting millions of dollars of stimulus money directed toward helping those very same special needs children. And get this, it is coming from Barack Obama!)

"These athletes overcome more challenges, discrimination and adversity than most of us ever will. By the way, these athletes can outperform many of us and we should be proud of them," Palin added. "I hope President Obama’s comments do not reflect how he truly feels about the special needs community." (They don't.)

As I explained in an earlier post, what President Obama said was stupid. Not mean, or nasty, or even insulting. It was only stupid because he said it in front of millions of Americans, a number of who probably have children who participate in the Special Olympics, and they may have felt that their President did not respect the athletic event that plays such a large part in many children's lives.

However Obama immediately apologized for his words and called the head of the Special Olympics Committee to let him know that he meant no disrespect.

Sarah Palin knows this. But there is no way that she is NOT going to use this opportunity to make some ugly accusations, while holding her own special needs child/grandchild up for the whole world to see how wonderful SHE is by comparison.

Small snag.

While Governor Palin is trying desperately to show that she is the kind of leader that is looking out for those children who "overcome more challenges, discrimination and adversity then most of us ever will" she is, AT THE VERY SAME TIME, refusing to accept millions of dollars that are being sent by the President's stimulus plan to help THOSE VERY SAME CHILDREN.

Now I have seen hypocrisy in my time but this women has taken it to a whole new level! And THAT Governor is what is known on the intertubes as an "EPIC FAIL"!

President Obama's Special Olympics gaffe on the Tonight Show.

Occasionally I get comments saying that I am unfair. That I am partisan. That I jump on Sarah Palin over every little thing while giving Barack Obama a free pass. And people say these things because essentially they are true.

I am a liberal. I tend to lean Democratic and have a deep distrust for Republicans. Those are the facts.

So this morning when I started to hear that Barack Obama made a gaffe about the Special Olympics on Jay Leno last night, I thought "Oh please, they are probably blowing this thing way out of proportion!"

So I watched it.

In my opinion what Barack Obama said on camera about the Special Olympics was a stupid thing to say on national television. (Now if any conservative website wants to take that comment and use it so show that even "super liberal Gryphen in Alaska thinks Obama's comment was stupid" you can do that. It would be an accurate quote. If you do I would appreciate a link back to my site, if you don't mind.)

However. It was NOT malicious or mean spirited in anyway. Obama was really trying to make fun of himself in an inarticulate manner. Don't get me wrong, it was still STUPID.

But let me share this with you.

I used to work in a facility that cared for very difficult special needs children. many of them had FAS, ADHD, bi-polar disorder, psychotic episodes, and some very unacceptable behaviors.

ALL day long we had to be positive and supportive. We had to smile when we really wanted to cry, and we had to try and love children that did EVERYTHING in their power to reject us. It was beyond difficult.

Once a week we had a "staff meeting". Many times these meetings turned into pseudo therapy sessions for us where we acted out the more bizarre behaviors we had dealt with, and made jokes at the expense of the children, and essentially unburdened ourselves of all that we had seen and dealt with all week.

If anybody outside of our group had walked in on us (and it did happen once) they would have thought we were horrible unfeeling jerks. But they would have been completely wrong in that assessment. On the contrary the people in those meetings were the most loving and compassionate people I have ever worked with. But they were PEOPLE, and they needed to have an outlet to keep their job from breaking their heart.

These meetings took place on Fridays, and every Monday these same people showed up to once again put on their happy faces and give everything they had to support a child who would call them horrible names, spit in their face, and often threaten their very life.

I am happy to say that many of those children went on to become contributing members of society and that when I happen to meet one, now an adult, they are always so grateful that we did not give up on them.

I have no doubt that Barack Obama, like us, has nothing but compassion in his heart for those who face a life with more obstacles then most. His remark may upset a few people who have children with special needs, but I have to imagine that a large majority of those who actually work with these kids found the joke less offensive and possibly even funny.

Governor Palin's Address To The 2009 Special Olympics

Wow how appropriate is it to find this video when I just finished doing a post about Sarah's "wild ride"? And it gives her a chance to once again repeat her story of finding out about Trig's diagnosis, her concerns, and how wonderful it is to have him as part of the family. With all that sugary talk it is a good thing I am not a diabetic.

Of course you have to admit that Trig is a cute little guy, even while wearing those little plastic glasses that I have been hearing about but had never seen before.

But once again I cannot get over the feeling that Trig is just a prop to make Sarah seem more caring and loving. He was very useful during the McCain campaign, and he comes in handy for a video like this as well.

"I totally support the Special Olympics, because now I have somebody in my family who can totally benefit from being a part of them. Oh boy another finish line that I can stand at to have my photo taken with the winners, and of course little Trig."

And what is the deal with Piper? Is that child never more then a few feet from Governor Palin at any given time? By my calculations that little girl has not attended school regularly since 2006.

But sorry Governor I am having a hard time believing that you are so supportive of Special Olympics when you proposed cutting their budget in half just last year.
