A woman from Des Moines, Iowa, pleaded guilty to election misconduct for attempting to cast two separate ballots in the 2016 presidential election for then-Republican nominee Donald Trump.
According to the Associated Press, Terri Lynn Rote, 57, entered her plea for the felony charge on June 27. Court documents state that lawyers affiliated with the case are recommending Rote face up to two years of probation with community service on the side.
Rote told police why she tried to vote more than once. She was convinced her first vote for Mr. Trump would be manipulated and changed to a vote for then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. According to her statement to the police, Rote believed Mr. Trump's claims about widespread election rigging.
Sentencing is set for August 15. Rote was arrested in October at a satellite voting station when she attempted to cast the second ballot. According to police records reviewed by the Washington Post, Rote's first early-voting ballot was issued at the Polk County Election Office.
In January, according to the Des Moines Register, Rote's defense attorney argued in a filing that she had "significant mental deficits" that should have prevented her from having to stand trial.
Well of course she has "significant mental deficits," she voted for Donald Trump. Twice!
By the way Rote is one of only four confirmed cases of in person voter fraud identified during the 2016 election. The rest all voted for Trump as well, except the fourth who only changed mayoral votes on absentee ballots she was hire to open, not presidential votes.
Simply put there is NO evidence of widespread in person voter fraud, but what little evidence there is points to the only instances having benefited Donald Trump and NOT Hillary Clinton.
That is why Trump's attempts to prove otherwise with this phony election commission are simply bullshit.

Representatives Cheffetz and Cummings give press conference shaming the White House for refusing to provide documents, and suggesting that Michael Flynn may have committed a felony.
Courtesy of Raw Story:
Reps. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) and Elijah Cummings (D-MD) held a press conference on Tuesday to knock the Trump administration for denying their requests for documents related to former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
“We received a response from the White House refusing to provide any of the documents we requested,” Cummings said at the press conference. “The White House has refused to offer a single piece of paper in response to this committee’s bipartisan request.”
Cummings also said Flynn might have committed a felony by not disclosing payments he received from foreign governments before he assumed the role of national security adviser.
“This is a major problem,” Cummings said.
I have to say I am a little surprised to see Chaffetz in front of the cameras talking about this.
I wonder if that means he wants to actually do his job before his quits it altogether?
Wow, when Jason Chaffetz complains that a Republican White House is obstructing an investigation, you KNOW the writing is on the wall.
While we are on the topic of Trump advisers and Russia let me share this tweet with you from the other day.

Former Trump campaign chairman in Kentucky charged with felony human trafficking of a minor.
A former judge now serving as a school board member in suburban Cincinnati has been charged with felony human trafficking of a minor, felony inducing a minor to engage in sex and a third count of giving alcohol to a minor. The indictment was obtained by River City News publisher Michael Monks, who described Nolan as an, “outspoken and controversial” political figure.
Judge Tim Nolan of California, Kentucky represents District 5 on the Campbell County School Board. Yesterday afternoon he was lead into court wearing handcuffs as the “perp walk” was filmed by the local CBS station.
News anchor Cammy Dierking of WKRC described Judge Nolan as an, “outspoken supporter of the local Tea Party.”
The sex trafficking allegedly occurred in August 2016 — while Judge Nolan was serving as the chair of the Donald Trump campaign in Campbell County, KY. Trump beat Hillary Clinton 59% to 35% in the county while voters also elected Nolan.
Is it just me or does it seem to anybody else that just about everybody involved in the Trump campaign is being charged with a crime these days?
Gosh a family values, tea party enthusiast, Trump supporter, charged with trying to have sex with a minor. Who could have predicted it.
Well my hand's up, how about yours?

Washington Post reveals that Donald Trump's national security adviser, Mike Flynn, lied to the FBI. Can you say "Just committed a felony?"
Courtesy of WaPo:
Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn denied to FBI agents in an interview last month that he had discussed U.S. sanctions against Russia with that country’s ambassador to the United States before President Trump took office, contradicting the contents of intercepted communications collected by intelligence agencies, current and former U.S. officials said.
The Jan. 24 interview potentially puts Flynn in legal jeopardy, as lying to the FBI is a felony, but any decision to prosecute would ultimately lie with the Justice Department. Some officials said bringing a case could prove difficult in part because Flynn may attempt to parse the definition of sanctions.
A spokesman for Flynn said he had no response. The FBI declined to comment.
Uh oh! Lying to the FBI is kind of a no no.
So now apparently this paragon of virtue, at least that is how he was advertised to the media, has now been caught lying to the Vice President and to the FBI.
Of course considering the administration that he was going to be working with, I almost think that the ability to lie, and lie well, is a prerequisite.
And let's face it with Trump now putting his own people in place, and Comey still leading the FBI, Flynn will absolutely face NO charges for this.
In fact the FBI is already saying as much.
Courtesy of CNN:
The FBI is not expected to pursue any charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn regarding a phone call with Russia's ambassador, barring new information that changes what they know, law enforcement officials told CNN Thursday.
Flynn initially told investigators sanctions were not discussed. But FBI agents challenged him, asking if he was certain that was his answer. He said he didn't remember.
The FBI interviewers believed Flynn was cooperative and provided truthful answers. Although Flynn didn't remember all of what he talked about, they don't believe he was intentionally misleading them, the officials say.
So you can see that since this story broke the FBI is already starting to provide cover.
How could Flynn, a trained military officer with an intelligence background, "not remember" talking to the Russians about sanctions?
That's bullshit, and if this was not Trump's guy he would indeed be facing charges.

David Daleiden, the guy behind those doctored Planned Parenthood videos, has felony charges dropped in Texas. No surprise there.
Courtesy of HuffPo:
A Texas judge on Tuesday dismissed a felony charge brought against two anti-abortion activists who produced controversial sting videos about Planned Parenthood. The county prosecutor’s office requested the dismissal.
A grand jury, which was originally investigating allegations of wrongdoing by Planned Parenthood, indicted David Daleiden, a self-proclaimed citizen journalist, and Sandra Merritt, another anti-abortion activist, in January. They were accused of tampering with a government record, which is a felony offense, and Daleiden was charged with attempting to purchase human organs, a misdemeanor.
“The grand jury took the investigation where the facts led it,” said Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson. However, she said Texas law limits what can be investigated after a grand jury’s time is extended ― which happened in this case ― and “in light of this and after careful research and review,” the indictments were dismissed. (Apparently the misdemeanor charges had been dropped earlier.)
Get a load of how Deleiden and his supporters are representing this news:
Daleiden and his supporters framed Tuesday’s news as a First Amendment win. “Daleiden used standard undercover journalism techniques and followed all applicable laws in doing so,” said Peter Breen, an attorney with the Thomas More Society who is representing Daleiden. “Planned Parenthood did wrong here, not David Daleiden,” he added.
Well they should not celebrate too soon because there is still an investigation underway in California, not to mention all of the civil cases filed against them.
The guy is a manipulative POS and I certainly hope that SOMEBODY sends his ass to prison.

Finally an arrest warrant has been issued for Bill Cosby.
Courtesy of NPR:
Narrowly beating a statute of limitations deadline to file charges, prosecutors in Pennsylvania announced a felony sexual assault charge against comedian Bill Cosby on Wednesday. A former Temple University employee says Cosby drugged and assaulted her in January of 2004.
Montgomery County, Pa., prosecutors have charged Cosby with aggravated indecent assault, a first-degree felony.
"These charges stem from a sexual assault," according to prosecutor Kevin Steele, who said the assault occurred at Cosby's house in Cheltenham, a Montgomery County township that's just outside Philadelphia.
Steele said Cosby is expected to appear in court to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon; he also urged any other victims to contact his office.
I have to admit that I was unsure that this would ever happen.
I thought that perhaps all of these things happened so long ago that this sexual predator was going to get away with what he had done to every one of the fifty plus women who he had drugged, raped, or molested.
On a personal note let me just say that for somebody who grew up on Bill Cosby records, Fat Albert cartoons, and Cliff and Clair Huxtable, things do not get more surreal than this.

Guess who met Creationist Kent Hovind at the prison gates when he was released for tax fraud? That's right Jim Bob Duggar!
Courtesy of Patheos:
Kent Hovind, the creationist who was serving prison time for a 2006 tax fraud conviction was released from prison Wednesday morning and will spend the next month under house arrest and then three years of probation.
Kent’s son Eric met him at the prison gates along with none other than Jim Bob Duggar, father of sexual predator Josh Duggar, whom which Jim Bob went to great lengths to protect from prosecution for molesting four of his sisters and a babysitter.
It looks like these fundamentalists have no problem with tax fraud or child molestation, just so long as you never stop using Christianity to cover for your crimes.

Speaking of conservative icons General Petraeus may face felony charges.
Courtesy of the New York Times:
The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors have recommended bringing felony charges against David H. Petraeus, contending that he provided classified information to a lover while he was director of the C.I.A., officials said, and leaving Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to decide whether to seek an indictment that could send the pre-eminent military officer of his generation to prison.
The Justice Department investigation stems from an affair Mr. Petraeus had with Paula Broadwell, an Army Reserve officer who was writing his biography, and focuses on whether he gave her access to his C.I.A. email account and other highly classified information.
F.B.I. agents discovered classified documents on her computer after Mr. Petraeus resigned from the C.I.A. in 2012 when the affair became public.
General Petraeus was actually well respected by both sides of the aisle. However it was the conservatives who started promoting the idea that he should run for President.
Of course that was before he kinda endorsed Hillary Clinton for the job.
Personally I have never been a huge Petrraeus fan, still it is unfortunate to see a man with such a sterling reputation end his career in disgrace.

New York Congressman, and felony tax evader, Michael Grimm finally resigns.
Rep. Michael Grimm announced late Monday night plans to resign from Congress, after pleading guilty to a felony tax evasion charge last week.
The announcement came just hours after a source familiar with Grimm's thinking told CNN he would resign "sooner rather than later," after the New York Daily News broke the news of Grimm's plans to step down.
"After much thought and prayer, I have made the very difficult decision to step down from Congress effective January 5th, 2015. This decision is made with a heavy heart, as I have enjoyed a very special relationship and closeness with my constituents, whom I care about deeply," Grimm said in a statement issued shortly before midnight by his office.
The Staten Island congressman was indicted in April on 20 counts relating to his health food restaurant, Healthalicious, including charges that he filed false tax returns; engaged in mail fraud, wire fraud and perjury; and knowingly hired undocumented workers.
House Speaker John Boehner called Grimm's decision to step down "honorable" in a statement on Tuesday.
You know there are a lot of slimy politicians in Congress, but this guy was one of the slimiest.
And it is somewhat unbelievable that despite the fact that he certain to be convicted he was still reelected.
And don't forget this is the same shit heel who threatened to throw a reporter off a balcony and break him in half "like a boy."
Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out douchebag.

Congressman Michael Grimm does not believe that pleading guilty to a felony is any reason to lose his job.
| "What do you mean what an I doing here today? I work here." |
Rep. Michael G. Grimm, New York Republican, said Tuesday he does not plan to resign his seat after pleading guilty to one felony tax charge tied to activities involving a restaurant he co-owned prior to winning election to Congress in 2010.
Grimm pleaded guilty to helping prepare a false tax return, a charge stemming from a 20-count indictment against the congressman handed up in April. The former FBI agent faces up to three years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced June 8.
The indictment accused Grimm of understating gross receipts and employee wages at a health restaurant he had co-owned by more than $1 million.
After his court appearance, Grimm apologized for his actions and said what he did was wrong but said he does not plan to step down.
“I’m going to get back to work and work as hard as I can,” he said.
No you're not. You don't get to do that. Does he?
Well apparently so far nobody is locking him out of his office or dragging him off the floor of Congress in handcuffs, so I guess he can.
I mean sure the Democrats are pitching a fit and calling for Boehner to give this criminal the heave ho, but who listens to them anymore?
And don't forget that this is the same asshole who threatened to break a reporter in half and throw him off a balcony.

Where could a convicted felon hope to run and be elected to office in Alaska? Why Wasilla of course.
Courtesy of ADN:
Disgraced Alaska legislator Vic Kohring thinks Wasilla voters should give him another chance and elect him to their city council.
Kohring filed Friday afternoon for a three-year term for Wasilla City Council Seat F, according to the City Clerk's office. That seat is currently held by Brandon Wall, who has filed for re-election. Friday was the last day to file for the Oct. 1 election.
In an announcement emailed to news media, Kohring addressed his felony conviction on federal corruption charges by saying "it's in the past and time to move on." But he also apologized for his "carelessness" and taking what he described as "small gifts" from "friends."
Kohring was one of six legislators charged and convicted in the corruption scandal that surfaced with FBI raids on his office and others in 2006. A jury convicted him in November 2007 of extortion, bribery and conspiracy and a federal judge sentenced him to 31/2 years in prison. He appealed and got a new trial when the Justice Department admitted withholding information from Kohring's defense -- similar misconduct that led to dismissal of charges against U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens after a jury found him guilty of disclosure violations.
Instead of going through a new trial on three felonies, Kohring pleaded guilty Oct. 21, 2011, to a single federal felony for accepting bribes and was sentenced to the time he had served in federal prison: one year, plus 18 months probation. He admitted taking $1,000 cash at a Juneau restaurant from Veco chairman Bill Allen, who was trying to lower oil production taxes in the 2006 Legislature, and to asking Allen to pay a $17,000 credit card debt.
Oh yeah, I think that Wasilla might welcome him with open arms.
After all he is certainly NOT the worst criminal that they will have had serve on the Wasilla City Counsel, now is he?

"Is that your nipple I see?" Those words spoken by a North Carolina police officer might soon mean jail time, as a new bill is set to make a woman's areola indecent.
| Actress Milla Jovovich should probably avoid North Carolina. |
(a1) Unless the conduct is prohibited by another law providing greater punishment, any person at least 18 years of age who shall willfully expose the private parts of his or her person in any public place in the presence of any other person less than 16 years of age for the purpose of arousing or gratifying sexual desire shall be guilty of a Class H felony. An offense committed under this subsection shall not be considered to be a lesser included offense under G.S. 14‑202.1.
(a2)For the purposes of this section, the term "private parts" means external organs of sex and of excretion, including the nipple, or any portion of the areola, of the human female breast.
That's right ladies. Your next nip slip in North Carolina might see you locked up in a prison cell for up to ten years where you and your now pornographic body part can rethink your wardrobe choices.
Here is a bit more about how this whole thing came about:
Brown, whose district is more than 100 miles from Asheville, said she hadn’t planned to get involved with the issue until she started getting calls about it from her constituents. “I felt that, if this was of concern to my constituents, it was going to be of concern to others as well.”
Brown says topless protests are actually illegal under the current law, but there’s some confusion about it, dating to conflicting court rulings from the 1970s.
North Carolina law already forbids “indecent exposure,” but it doesn’t specifically define “private parts” as including breasts.
The proposal adds that definition, including “the nipple, or any portion of the areola, of the human female breast,” with an exception made for breastfeeding.
“All we are doing is codifying the Supreme Court definition of ‘private parts,’" added committee Chairwoman Rep. Sarah Stevens, R-Surry. “That’s it. “
Well at least they are giving a pass to women who are using the offending protuberance to feed their babies. But if you don't have a baby hanging off of those things then you are headed up the river my dear.
Okay well as you know I am quite liberal, and probably never more so than when it comes to the issue of sexuality and nudity. If you want to walk around with your goodies hanging out, regardless of your age or gender, I have nothing negative to say about it. (Except in Alaska of course. Some things are simply not meant to be exposed to the elements.)
However I do have a question.
Exactly WHY is it that the aerola is the portion of the female breast deemed unacceptable? And why is it ONLY the female's that is considered so?
Now look I'm a guy, and I dearly love breasts. But personally I find the entire breast rather pleasing to the eye and do not necessary consider the actual nipple to be any more erotic than say the cleavage, or the side, or really ANY other part of the breast.
So why exactly is THIS, according to this new North Carolina bill, okay?
And the above picture, which actually covers up much more of the breast, considered "indecent?"
Anybody have an answer?

Wow! have you ever seen anybody as defensive as this guy?
Yeah, MSNBC and other media sources did kind of jump the gun about wiretapping, but when you have two guys dressed like phone company repairmen, and they have a guy with a recording device sitting outside in the car, it is a fairly easy mistake to make.
I think this guy is a joke and he is terrified that the conviction of O'Keefe will reveal that he is a partisan hack who was so desperate to find some dirt on the Democrats that he was willing to hire a little weasel whose only claim to journalistic ability was a completely manufactured ACORN expose.
And this is the kind of "journalism" practiced by Fox News and its affiliates. No wonder the teabaggers are so ignorant.
