The young man who guessed Sarah Palin's email password, and was jailed for it, has died.

The Palins leaving the courthouse in Knoxville, TN after lying to the jury.
Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

The man who guessed the password on Sarah Palin's personal email account and posted details online when she was a nominee for vice president in 2008, died last week in California.

David Kernell, 30, died of complications related to progressive multiple sclerosis (MS) late Friday or early Saturday, according to a statement his family released on Thursday.

His family shared that Kernell had been diagnosed with MS in 2014 and began participating in clinical research trials at the Cedars-Sinai Neurosciences Research Center in Los Angeles. He hoped to help develop cures and treatments for other victims of MS, the page-long statement detailed.

Despite what the Palins would have had you believe, Kernell was actually a very kind and giving individual.

'David did not let this incident define him,' the family said, according to Commercial Appeal.

'He returned to UT Knoxville to complete his economics degree and further refined his programming skills by helping his local community.

'He first volunteered his expertise to Tennessee Voices for Children, a child advocacy non-profit group. Later, he moved to California and worked to develop facial recognition software that could identify children at risk of abuse.'

So he actually did something positive with his life, and DIDN'T just try to sell crappy diet products on the internet?

I think everybody here knows the story of the then 20 year old easily guessing Palin's password and then anonymously bragging about it on the internet, which then led to Palin calling it "worse than Watergate" and taking Bristol to Tennessee to lie to the courts about being terrified even though at the time the Secret Service were patrolling their property in Wasilla.

This led to Kernell receiving a felony charge and spending 10 months of his short life behind bars, all for a college prank.

She tried to destroy this young man's life, as she has tried to destroy so many others before and after him.

And now he's dead.

Track Palin's bail paid by friend, so he can return to his now gun free house while wearing an ankle monitor. Update!

Courtesy of ADN:

Palin, 28 and the oldest son of the former Alaska governor, was approved for house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor by a Palmer judge on Wednesday afternoon.

He had been jailed on $5,000 bail and release to a third-party until then. Magistrate Judge Tara Logsdon signed off on the change.

Big Lake resident Kaleb Westfall posted Palin's bail Thursday with $5,000 cash, according to a receipt in the court file with Palin's charges.

If Palin doesn't comply with his conditions, the state gets the money.

Under Logsdon's order, Palin can live alone at his Wasilla home. But he is under 24-hour supervision by Alaska Pretrial Services with an ankle monitor and a facial recognition device that tests for alcohol.

The private company is also charged with clearing Palin's home of weapons and pills.

Company owner Dennis Johnson said late Wednesday morning "that's being conducted as we're speaking."

Palin can leave the house only for specific reasons: work at a Palmer drilling company; medical visits; and legal or court visits. He can drive himself.

So that is proof that Track's family would have left him to rot in jail rather than pay for his bail themselves.

According to Radar Online Palin taped Track's attack on Todd:

Multiple sources told Radar that the former vice presidential candidate recorded the terrifying incident because she “wanted to be prepared” for any potential legal action.

“They knew he was coming, and were ready,” a family insider told Radar. “They wanted to be prepared for anything.”

Local police refused to comment on the existence of a video recording of the incident, but a source told Radar that if cops do have the tape, they cannot release it to the public for months.

They knew he was coming and yet they did not call the cops until he already started beating on Todd?

Good planning.

And yer even with all of this going on apparently Sarah still wants to visit Track and bring both Piper and little Trig to see him as well.

I am not sure that is a wise idea at this point, especially as he starts going through withdrawals due to no access to alcohol or drugs.

That could be quite terrifying for both Trig and Piper.

I also hope that somebody is on suicide watch right now.

Track just lost everything, and the drugs he takes to cope with his demons, that leaves him especially vulnerable to truly bad decisions, and the idea of taking his own life to punish his family is sure to be one of them.

Update: Jordan Loewe gives interview to the Daily Mail:

Loewe, however, told DailyMailTV that Track's parents had not always been in favor of involving authorities.

'He's told me he was going to kill me and his parents knew that,' she said.

'They didn't want me to call the police. They know, there's no doubt about it. I think they wish they didn't know but they know.

'I did stay quiet each time, I never spoke about anything before this. I wanted to respect their privacy and mine and I just didn't think the world needed to know.

'But I'm at the point that keeping quiet didn't do anything and he's hurt more people, so it's time to speak up.'

Loewe said that she was angered by the court's decision to allow him to be released on a low bail.

She said: 'I think he has a lot of issues – not just instability but a lot of mental health issues that have never been addressed. I think there's a bit of PTSD there but that's not the main problem. There's a lot of problems and that maybe just adds to it. It's the same with alcohol, it exacerbates it.'

Jordan said she was unaware if Track, a veteran who served in the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, in Iraq, was using drugs.

'When I was with him, he was sober for year at that time and there was still a lot of violence problems,' she said. The issues are there, with or without substance abuse. He doesn't think have a problem so much as anyone wants to help him – you can't help yourself.'

So Jordan was getting constant death threats from Track and his parents dissuaded her from calling the police? Apparently they were willing to risk her life, rather than force their son to get help.

Yeah, a little counseling is NOT going to turn any of this around.

Track either accepts being in therapy for the long hall, or he is going to kill somebody.

Period.

A little follow up on the whole Track Palin beat Todd's ass debacle.

So since yesterday's post we have learned a few more details.

First off is that we now have an actual copy of the official complaint.

When you read it, especially Track's testimony, it appears that Todd and Sarah had ample time to notify the police BEFORE Track arrived to kick Todd's ass, but failed to do so until things got really out of hand.

There were no children in the home so everybody can stop worrying about them.

However after the badly beaten Todd was able to get away from Track he apparently abandoned his wife and jumped in his car.

She was also able to get out on her own it seems and was in a second vehicle exiting the compound when the police arrived.

Track was still inside screaming at nobody and high as a freaking kite.

The complaint also says that after pointing his gun at Track that Todd "decided" that he was not going to shoot his son as he broke in through the window.

Personally I doubt that Todd ever intended to actually use the gun, but he did indeed point it at Track and threaten him with it.

That is some good parenting right there.

According to Court View Britta Hanson, his first baby mama, also petitioned for a protective order, which she quickly received.

Now I assumed that this was a preemptive move on her part, after hearing about this incident at the compund, but Zaki told me that he believes she could not have received one of these unless there was an actual physical threat made against her, which indicates that more may have happened that night than we know right now.

All in all it is beyond obvious that Track's addictions continue to control his life.

According to various sources I have talked to in the past Track has been abusing and selling drugs for more than a decade now, and in fact that may be how he is currently paying his bills.

Sarah had a real opportunity to help this young man, and instead she attempted to "save" him from himself and now this is the result.

It appears that Track remains in custody, and is still not represented by counsel which I think indicates that Ma and Pa Palin are finished covering for his loser ass and that he is now truly on his own.

Palin family stalker receives more jail time. Wait, the Palin family still has a stalker?

Courtesy of The Blast:

Bristol Palin‘s stalker has been sentenced — yet again — for harassing the famous Alaskan family, and now he’s been ordered to spend time behind bars.

Peter Ferrero just got slapped with 30 days in jail after violating his probation and harassing the Palin family.

The judge also ordered Ferrero to pay a fine and have no contact with Bristol and Dakota Meyer, as well as the other Palin sisters, Willow and Piper.

As we previously reported, Ferrero had been contacting the girls on social media, and even made threatening sexual messages towards 16-year-old Piper. He was arrested in July after exposing himself and attempting to urinate onto oncoming traffic.

Sarah Palin‘s other daughter, Willow, also filed a restraining against Ferrero claiming she thought he may try and kill her family.

Man you could have knocked me over with a feather.

I would have thought that virtually nobody even thinks about this family anymore, much less spends the time and energy to stalk and harass them.

Not to make too little of this because it can be frightening to have somebody obsess over you, but seriously there must be more interesting people to be thrown in jail over.

These are Z list celeb wannabes from many years ago.

Not really worth even five minutes in a jail cell.

P.S. There you go. Somebody asked for a Palin story, and lo and behold two of them bubbled up today.

You're welcome.

Universally despised pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli has bail revoked for seeking sample of Hillary Clinton's hair.

Courtesy of the New York Times:

Martin Shkreli, the former pharmaceutical executive who is awaiting sentencing for a fraud conviction, was sent to jail on Wednesday after a federal judge revoked his bail because he had offered $5,000 for a strand of Hillary Clinton’s hair.

Mr. Shkreli, who was free on $5 million bail while he awaited sentencing, had made two Facebook posts offering cash to anyone who could “grab a hair” from Mrs. Clinton during her book tour.

At the hearing in Federal District Court in Brooklyn, Judge Kiyo A. Matsumoto said that Mr. Shkreli’s post could be perceived as a true threat.

“That is a solicitation to assault in exchange for money that is not protected by the First Amendment,” she said.

Mr. Shkreli’s online offer last week prompted prosecutors to request that his bail be revoked — and the Secret Service to investigate. “On HRC’s book tour, try to grab a hair from her,” he wrote, referring to Mrs. Clinton. “Will pay $5,000 per hair obtained from Hillary Clinton.”

Seriously, is WTF is this guy thinking?

Does he really believe that  encouraging a physical assault against such a famous person would not bite him in the ass?

Shkreli stated in his post that he needed to sample to "confirm the sequences I have," which has been interpreted to mean genetic sequencing.

So what exactly does this idiot think a hair sample would prove? That Hillary Clinton is not human?

Just a heads up, the Crying Nazi does not like to be called the Crying Nazi.

Courtesy of the Daily Beast:

Christopher Cantwell is not happy being labeled "the crying Nazi."

The white supremacist got the moniker after he recorded a tearful video upon hearing he was wanted for arrest after pepper-spraying protesters at the University of Virginia on August 11. That was the night several hundred torch-wielding white nationalists chanted “Jews will not replace us” and then encircled a few dozen protesters gathered at a statue of university founder Thomas Jefferson.

"When I come down here for a permitted demonstration, championed by the ACLU, where the police are supposed to be clearing our enemies from our path, and then I find myself involved in a riot facing 20 years in prison, I got emotional, shockingly enough," Cantwell told The Daily Beast in his first interview from jail.

"One minute I'm a fucking white supremacist terrorist and the next minute I'm a fucking crybaby?" he asks. "I'm a goddamn human being."

Actually you're a fucking racist who bragged about being a badass and hurting people, and then cried like a little bitch when you realized you might have to do time.

That is several steps back down the evolutionary trail from being a human being.

Currently Cantwell is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail in solitary confinement to keep him safe from other human beings who would like to show him how not tough he actually is.

By the way here is once again the vidoe which will forever brand this POS the "Crying Nazi."

Yep, that is definitely going to stick.

Former NSA intelligence analyst says this about Donald Trump "He will die in jail."

Okay well this guy certainly has no qualms about stating that Trump colluded with Russian intelligence.

And get a load of this tweet:
Does not get much stronger than that now does it?

John Schindler is in fact a former NSA intelligence analyst who now writes for the Observer.

He actually wrote the article a few days ago that suggested that the intelligence community was withholding classified information from Trump because they feared he might be working with the Russians.

Personally I have a hard time imagining that Trump will ever see the inside of a jail cell, however if this guy feels THIS strongly that would suggest that there is a lot more coming down the pike and that it will quite likely end Trump's presidency.

Hold on to your hats kids, this is certainly going to be a bumpy ride.

Yep, Track Palin is in jail! Update!

Track Palin and his now pregnant punching bag.
So as many of you started pointing out late yesterday FINALLY a Palin is doing time.

Of course this is due to that incident back in January where Track Palin, with blood alcohol level of 0.189, attacked his girlfriend Jordan Loewe, punching her in the face, throwing her cellphone out of reach, and kicking her at least once while she was helpless at his feet.

Track also waved around some kind of firearm (According to Loewe he was threatening to kill himself.) which forced his girlfriend to crawl into the house and call 911.

Track was then charged with three misdemeanors: assault, interfering with reporting of a domestic violence crime, and a weapons charge.

He plead not guilty (Of course.)  and was bailed out by a family friend (Mom was busy pimping Donald Trump back when Alaska was not too far away from which to fly to the lower forty eight.) for $1,500.

Then the next thing we heard was that Track had his case moved out of the regular court and to the Veteran's Court on June 27th, where his hearings kept being continued until July 13 when apparently the hearing was finally held and he was immediately remanded into custody. (Remanded means locked up without bail.)

Source
Of course in the interim we also heard that Track's, now fiance Jordan Loewe, is expecting his child (A boy.) so there will be yet another Palin family member terrorizing Wasilla in the years to come.

I must say that if one were to believe in Karma that it would certainly seem to have come back on Sarah Palin in spades.
  • For one thing her husband came close to dying in a recent snowmachine accident.
  • She was summarily dumped by her new boyfriend Donald Trump.
  • Her eldest son is now in jail for beating the shit out of his now pregnant fiance.
  • Her eldest daughter has been revealed to be a bitch on ice who has used her son to punish her ex-boyfriend for almost a decade now.
  • She is now considered radioactive by most conservative politicians.
  • Her name has been reduced to nothing more than a punchline for late night comics.
  • Oh, and her SarahPAC quarterly report shows that she is hemorrhaging money at an alarming rate. (More on that in the next post.)
Yeah it seems that Sarah Palin's version of winning is reminiscent of this guy.

People continue to ask me, when are you going to bring this bitch down?

And once again my response would be, "How much further is it to "down?"

Update: Okay so I have been in contact with other folks following this case carefully and learned that the Anchorage jail is denying that Track is being held there.

However I also learned that Track actually showed up for his hearing on June 27th, but became "very uncomfortable" and had to leave.

I don't know what that means exactly but they ended up pushing the hearing forward.

There is also some confusion as to why Track was remanded into custody on the 13th, when he was not scheduled for a court visit again until July 25th.

If I had to take a guess I think I would go with failed drug test, but once again no confirmation on that.

Yet.

Update 2: Oh hell, the "remanded" part was just removed from Court View.

It looks like Snowdrift Snooki CAN still pull some strings.

(Too late though, it was captured in that screenshot up above.)

Ryan Bundy upset that he cannot wear his magic Mormon underwear or have his guns in jail. Wait, what?

So apparently through his attorney Ryan Bundy wrote up a list, probably in crayon, of his grievances.

Believe it or not jail is not the theme park atmosphere that the Bundy boys were hoping for and Ryan for one is having a series of terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days.

According to the complaint:

“My rights are being violated. My right to life is being violated. All of my First Amendment rights are being violated. My right to freedom of religion is being violated. I cannot participate in religious activities and temple covenants, and wear religious garments (Magic Mormon underwear.). I could wear them at Henderson, but MCDC is depriving me of the right to wear them. My right to freedom of speech is being hampered by monitoring and recording. My right to freedom of assembly is being violated; I am not allowed to see my brother and move about.

Can you believe it?

It's almost as if Bundy gave up a bunch of rights by breaking the law or something.

And here's the kicker:

My Second Amendment rights are being violated. I never waived that right.

Well that is the last straw my friends. After all what is a man like Ryan Bundy without his metal penis extenders?

Less than man, that's what!

Damn this actually needs its own category for stupidity.

(H/T to Wonkette.)

During court appearance Cliven Bundy refuses to recognize the authority of the federal government. Oh yeah, he's never getting out of jail.

Courtesy of Oregon Live:

Jailed Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy refused Thursday to acknowledge federal authority and declined to enter a plea to federal charges that he led an armed standoff against a round-up of cattle two years ago.

After several minutes of confusion about whether Bundy had a lawyer, U.S. Magistrate Judge Carl Hoffman entered a not guilty plea on Bundy's behalf and scheduled a detention hearing March 17.

Arguments then will focus on whether the 69-year-old Bundy should remain in custody pending trial on 16 charges, including conspiracy, assault and threatening a federal officer, obstruction and firearms offenses.

It could be many months before trial. Federal prosecutor Steven Myhre told the judge the case involving 19 defendants would be slow-tracked as "complex."

You gotta love these sovereign citizen types who seem to believe that since they don't believe that federal laws have any validity they can simply pretend that they don't have to obey them.

I wonder how somebody sitting in a jail cell is still able to convince themselves that the Feds have no control over their lives?

Later on the sidewalk outside of the courtroom Bundy's interim attorney had this to say:

"Mr. Bundy feels like he needs to stand up for the rights of all Americans in all states, and for the states to be the owner of public land and not the federal government," Hansen said outside court. "In the West, the government owns most of the land. He thinks that's wrong."

Okay first off Bundy is certainly not standing up for THIS American.

And secondly what a stupid cause to throw your life away over.

This is not a civil rights issue, or even a stand against government intervention. This is a guy pissed off that his cows cannot eat grass and shit on government property.

From his Oregon jail cell Ammon Bundy says he misses his family, but says standoff was worth it.

Courtesy of Oregon Live:

He hung his head and talked softly when he described how hard it is being away from his wife and children.

"We are in here locked away and our families are trying to survive, and they're struggling out there especially when we were the primary breadwinners,'' he said. "My babies are at home. My beautiful wife is at home. Everything is at risk right now for us, as far as our income, our house. But we have to ask ourselves – was it worth it? I believe it was.''

Bundy says that he reads scripture each day and then shares them during his nightly 15 minute phone call with his family.

He also claims that he takes inspiration from the words of Martin Luther King Jr..

You know if he were really paying attention to the teachings of Christ and the words of MLK he might realize that what he did was against EVERYTHING they stood for.

While Jesus, as he is described in the Bible, might have been cool with a peaceful protest, it is highly unlikely that he would have given his blessing to allowing those protesters to bring automatic weapons to the standoff with them.

And as for Martin Luther King Jr., can we even imagine how differently the civil rights movement would have turned out if the marchers in Selma had been brandishing firearms?

We STILL would not have equal rights in this country.

No what Ammon and his idiot friends fail to understand is that showing up ready to kill, means that you are also showing up ready to lose your freedom or your life. And that after the fact the only people who will feel sympathy for your cause are the same ignoramuses who also read words of peace and interpret them as declarations of war.

Federal judge denies Cliven Bundy bail. Good thinking judge. Update!

Courtesy of OPB:

A federal judge in Portland denied bail for Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy at a hearing Tuesday.

Magistrate Judge Janice Stewart agreed with prosecutors that Bundy posed a flight risk, is a danger to the community, and should be held in jail while awaiting trial.

“I agree with the government, if he’s released and goes back to his ranch that will be the last the court will see of him,” Stewart said.

Wait, do you mean the judge thinks that simply because this yahoo flouts the law at every turn, and believes that as a sovereign citizen they don't apply to him, that he might not show up for a court date?

Like I said, smart judge.

I wonder how the Bundy boys are enjoying all of their God given freedom right about now?

Update:  It looks like the feds have now indicted some of the morons from the Oregon standoff, with crimes committed during the 2014 Nevada standoff.

Courtesy of Oregon Live:

Ammon Bundy, brother Ryan Bundy, Ryan Payne and Peter Santilli -- already indicted in the armed takeover of a federal wildlife refuge in eastern Oregon -- now face federal indictment along with Cliven Bundy in the 2014 armed standoff near the Bundy ranch in Nevada.

The indictment charges the four with 16 felonies: one count of conspiring to commit an offense against the United States, one count of conspiring to impede or injure a federal officer, four counts of carrying a firearm in a crime of violence, two counts of assault on a federal officer, two counts of threatening a federal law enforcement officer, three counts of obstructing justice, two counts of interfering with interstate commerce by extortion and one count of interstate travel in aid of extortion.

It also levels five counts of criminal forfeiture against each defendant. If convicted of the offenses, they would have to forfeit property obtained from the proceeds of their crimes, totaling at least $3 million, including cattle at the so-called Bunkerville Allotment and Lake Mead National Recreational Area in Nevada. They also would have to forfeit firearms and ammunition used in the April 12, 2014, standoff with federal authorities.

I love the smell of justice in the morning, don;t you?

Anti-gay Kentucky clerk sent to jail. Where's your God now?

Courtesy of ABC:

A federal judge ordered a defiant county clerk to jail for contempt Thursday after she insisted that it would violate her conscience to follow court orders to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

Rowan County clerk Kim Davis and her deputy clerks were summoned to appear before U.S. District Judge David Bunning after she repeatedly denied them marriage licenses, cited her religious beliefs and "God's authority."

The judge said his only alternative was to jail her because he did not believe she would comply with his order even if she were fined. She was escorted out of his courtroom by a deputy, although not in handcuffs, to be turned over to the custody of federal marshals.

Just goes to show that stubborn superstition will always give way to intellectual progress eventually.

This woman was not only an anti-gay bigot hiding behind the Bible, but she was also stunningly hypocritical:

Court records detail Kim Davis’ turbulent marital history: She has been married to her current husband twice, with a divorce and another husband in between.

She married her first husband, Dwain Wallace, when she was 18, and divorced him in 1994.

She acknowledged in a 2008 divorce filing having had two children in 1994 while she was not married.

In 1996, at age 30, she married Joe Davis for the first time. They divorced in 2006.

The next year, at 40 years old, Davis wed Thomas McIntryre, though their marriage lasted less than a year. She re-married Joe Davis in 2009.

I have no use for religion anyhow, but I have to say that a person like this does not do Christianity any favors.

Newly released dashcam video suggests that Sandra Bland should never have been arrested. Update!

Courtesy of CNN:

The family of Sandra Bland, whose death in a Texas jail has boiled over after newly released video showed what happened at a routine traffic stop, expressed anger Wednesday at what they said was further proof that Bland was unnecessarily arrested.

Bland, who authorities say hanged herself in her jail cell, was not clinically diagnosed with depression or on any medication and was "ecstatic" at the prospect of starting a new job at her alma mater in Texas, family attorney Cannon Lambert said at a press conference Wednesday.

"Why is it that a 28 year old woman who had received two job offers take her own life? Why would she call her mom in excitement about those jobs and take her own life?" Lambert asked.

"That just does not jive with someone who would take their own life," he added.

Sharon Cooper, Bland's sister and a spokeswoman for her family, the family was "infuriated" by the actions of the officer who arrested Bland, as seen on the trooper's dash-cam video.

I have kind of kept my powder dry on this story, waiting for this video along with more evidence to emerge.

Now that it has I feel confident in saying that none of this makes any sense.

That woman may have been labeled disrespectful in her response to the police officer, but he was downright abusive. And her attitude in fighting back, and exclamation of wanting to have her day in court, certainly does not suggest the mindset of a person who would take their own life only days later.

This thing stinks to high heaven and I am quite glad that the inquiry into what happened is being treated like a murder investigation.

Update: If you think the dashboard video is bad, take a look at the transcript.

California Atheist wins 2 million dollar lawsuit after being sent to jail for objecting to faith based drug rehab program.

Barry A. Hazle Jr.
Courtesy of HuffPo:

A California atheist has won a settlement of nearly $2 million after being sent to jail on a parole violation for objections he made about participating in a faith-based rehab program.

Barry A. Hazle Jr., 46, served time for a conviction of methamphetamine possession in 2007. As a condition of his parole, he was enrolled in a drug treatment program where participants were required to acknowledge a "higher power," according to the Sacramento Bee.

Hazle complained and asked for a different treatment program, but was told the only option in his area was the faith-based, Westcare 12-step program, according to the Record Searchlight.

Hazle was sent back to jail for more than three months for allegedly being “disruptive, though in a congenial way, to the staff as well as other students" and being "sort of passive-aggressive,” the paper reported.

"I’m thrilled to finally have this case settled," Hazle told the Searchlight. "It sends a clear message to people in a position of authority, like my parole agent, for example, that they not mandate religious programming for their parolees, and for anyone else, for that matter."

This may seem like a small thing, but it is actually a rather significant victory for Atheists.

Religious organizations discovered long ago that proselytizing to people when they were at their most vulnerable had a much higher success rate for conversion then simply going door to door, having potlucks, or hosting bingo.

That is why there are so many religious based therapy groups, substance abuse clinics, and prison programs. They know that people struggling to stay afloat in a sea of adversity will cling to any lifeline thrown their way.

So yeah winning the right to be excluded, without fear of incarceration, from organizations which really only substitute one crutch for another, is kind of a big deal.

Woman gets 14 months in jail after 9 year old son took handgun to school that accidentally wounded 8 year old.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A Washington woman has been sentenced to jail for her part in a shooting at an elementary school after a handgun her son had in his backpack went off, wounding a classmate.

Jamie Lee Chaffin was sentenced to 14 months in prison after pleading guilty to unlawful weapon possession charges, reports the Kitnap Sun.

On Feb. 22, 2012, Chaffin’s then 9-year-old son took a loaded handgun to school in his backpack, which went off wounding 8-year-old classmate, Amina Kocer Bowman, shattering her elbow and damaging her internal organs before the bullet came to rest in her spine.

According to Chaffin’s son, he took the gun to school to protect himself from classmates.

Which is exactly the message that we keep sending to our children through video games and movies.

Without a gun we are vulnerable. With a gun...invincible.

Apparently the boy also said that there were a number of unsecured weapons around the boyfriend's home for him to choose from.

I think it is very good news that a parent is being help responsible for this accidental shooting, however it is truly unfortunate that the boyfriend's charges were dismissed by the state Supreme Court.

In my mind if you own a gun you are responsible for any damage, injury, or death that is the fault of that gun.

After all what would have happened if that eight year old girl had died? Or if other children had also been injured?

Nineteen year old woman takes the idea of a concealed weapon to extremes.

Courtesy of the Smoking Gun (No pun intended.):

A 19-year-old Tennessee woman had a loaded handgun hidden in her vagina when she was brought into jail yesterday afternoon following a collar for driving with a suspended license, police report.

As Dallas Archer was being booked into the Kingsport jail, a female corrections officer alerted to an “unknown object” in the teenager’s crotch during a search.

The jailer and a female cop then accompanied Archer to a bathroom for further examination, a review that led to the recovery of a “North American Arms 22 LR revolver (loaded) which Ms. Dallas had concealed in her vagina,” according to a Kingsport Police Department report.

A subsequent check revealed that the five-shot mini-revolver--which is four inches in length--had been “stolen from an auto burglary in 2013.” The handgun, which police valued at $250, is owned by John Souther, a 70-year-old retired car salesman.

And here I thought I knew so much about that part of the female body.  I had no idea it could be used as a holster.

Of course to be serious for a moment, THAT is why they make guns this small. So that they can be concealed more easily, and evade detection. And it almost worked.

If it had, just imagine what might have happened inside of that jail.

My favorite part of this story was the 70 year old owners reaction when told where it had been hidden:

When told where the gun had been stashed, Souther said, “Oh, gosh.” He noted that he would eventually like “the little fellow” returned, but added that the weapon would require “a bath in bleach.”

Interesting perspective, worrying about what a female sex organ might do to a weapon, rather than what an instrument of death might do to the insides of a woman.

Loud music shooter, Michael Dunn, compares himself to a rape victim, and says he was both the "victor" and the "victim."

In newly released audio of phone calls made by Michael Dunn while in jail, the man who shot 17-year-old Jordan Davis after a loud music dispute claiming self-defense said he was both the “victor” and the “victim,” compared himself to a rape victim, and made racially charged comments about his fellow inmates.

Recordings of nine calls from December 2012 released by the State Attorney’s Office Monday follows the earlier release of letters from Dunn disparaging African Americans. In one, he said, “The more time I am exposed to these people, the more prejudiced against them I become.” A jury found Dunn guilty Saturday on several counts of attempted second degree murder for shooting ten rounds into a car full of teens, but the jury was deadlocked on the question of whether Dunn was guilty of first degree murder for shooting and killing Jordan Davis.

In a call to his fiancée Rhonda Rouer, Dunn said:

I was the one that was being preyed upon and I fought back. It’s not quite the same but it made me think of like the old TV shows and movies where like how the police used to think when a chick got raped going, “Oh, it’s her fault because of the way she dressed.” I’m like, “So it’s my fault (laughing) because I asked them to turn their music down. I got attacked and I fought back because I didn’t want to be a victim and now I’m in trouble. I refused to be a victim and now I’m incarcerated.”

Dunn doesn’t explain how he was “attacked.” The shooting occurred after Dunn pulled up in a Jacksonville convenience store next to a sport utility vehicle with several teen boys. Tension erupted after he asked the boys to turn down their music. Dunn says he shot into the vehicle in self-defense because Davis threatened to kill him from within his vehicle and held up a gun, but no gun was found anywhere at the scene.

“I’m the f*** victim here,” he said, laughing, during one of the phone calls. “I was the one who was victimized … I’m the victor, but I was the victim too.”

So the man shoots into a car full of teenagers, none of whom apparently came out of the car to threaten him in any way, and HE is the victim?

Well gee if he wasn't really in fear for his life what could have been the motivation for shooting at the African American teens in the car?

During the call with Rouer, he also complained about being in a jail cell by himself, saying, “But I guess it would be better than being in a room with them animals.” He added a short while later, “I was in a room with three black guys,” CBS News reports.

Oh yeah, I think we understand the motivation just fine.

Mississippi may soon be able to imprison women for stillbirths and miscarriages. Yeah, you heard that right.

Courtesy of Mother Jones:

On March 14, 2009, 31 weeks into her pregnancy, Nina Buckhalter gave birth to a stillborn baby girl. She named the child Hayley Jade. Two months later, a grand jury in Lamar County, Mississippi, indicted Buckhalter for manslaughter, claiming that the then-29-year-old woman "did willfully, unlawfully, feloniously, kill Hayley Jade Buckhalter, a human being, by culpable negligence."

The district attorney argued that methamphetamine detected in Buckhalter's system caused Hayley Jade's death. The state Supreme Court, which heard oral arguments on the case on April 2, is expected to rule soon on whether the prosecution can move forward. If prosecutors prevail in this case, the state would be setting a "dangerous precedent" that "unintentional pregnancy loss can be treated as a form of homicide," says Farah Diaz-Tello, a staff attorney with National Advocates for Pregnant Women, a nonprofit legal organization that has joined with Robert McDuff, a Mississippi civil rights lawyer, to defend Buckhalter. If Buckhalter's case goes forward, NAPW fears it could spur a wave of similar prosecutions in Mississippi and other states.

Mississippi's manslaughter laws were not intended to apply in cases of stillbirths and miscarriages. Four times between 1998 through 2002, Mississippi lawmakers rejected proposals that would have set specific penalties for damaging a fetus by using illegal drugs during pregnancy. But Mississippi prosecutors say that two other state laws allow them to charge Buckhalter. One defines of manslaughter as the "killing of a human being, by the act, procurement, or culpable negligence of another"; another includes "an unborn child at every stage of gestation from conception until live birth" in the state's definition of human beings.

The cause of any given miscarriage or stillbirth is difficult to determine, and many experts believe there is no conclusive evidence that exposure to drugs in utero can cause a miscarriage or stillbirth. Because of this, prosecuting Buckhalter opens the door to investigating and prosecuting women for any number of other potential causes of a miscarriage or stillbirth, her lawyers argued in a filing to the state Supreme Court—"smoking, drinking alcohol, using drugs, exercising against doctor's orders, or failing to follow advice regarding conditions such as obesity or hypertension." Supreme Court Justice Leslie D. King also raised this question in the oral arguments last month: "Doctors say women should avoid herbal tea, things like unpasteurized cheese, lunch meats. Exactly what are the boundaries?"

In these mostly red states all over the country lawmakers have been passing law after law to slowly create an environment where women are once again reduced to nothing more than breeding stock. Late term abortion restrictions, personhood amendments, vaginal probes, enforced waiting periods, defunding Planned Parenthood, all done to take back control of women's bodies.

After all in many of these places it is understood that those bodies do not belong to the women who operate them, they belong to God. And only He can determine what a woman can, and cannot do with it. And, of course, his will is determined by his representative on earth, the man.

So little by little, restriction by restriction, legislation by legislation, and now conviction by conviction, women are being reduced to property. Property of God, property of the state, or property of their men, no matter how you see it, you cannot help but see freedoms being stripped away from the woman.

And all of this has been happening in 2013, right before our eyes. But member, there is NO war on women.

Pastor only receives a 12 year sentence for the statutory rape of an underage teenage girl. Not nearly enough, not by a long shot.

More from the Chicago Tribune:

In a statement, the victim wrote that Schaap would text her from the altar during his sermons. In another statement, written as a letter to Schaap, she wrote: “When you first kissed me I was shocked. . .When I asked you if it was wrong, you said ‘No.’ You told me that I was sent you from God, I was his gift to you. You made me feel special.”

Schaap entered a guilty plea last September in a deal with federal prosecutors, admitting to allegations that led to his ouster from the highly conservative Hammond Baptist Church that his late father in-law, Jack Hyles, had built into one of the area’s largest churches.

But at sentencing today, U.S. District Court Judge Rudy Lozano said a 10-year-deal hammered out by both sides did not meet the 12-year-minimum required under federal sentencing guidelines. Schaap stared at the judge without emotion.

While Lozano lauded Schaap for quickly pleading guilty last fall before the complaint was even filed, Lozano said he did not want to set the example by "giving a 25 percent discount" for that cooperation.

While Schaap eventually took responsibility for his actions Schaap initially denied the allegations when he was confronted by church officials, Lozano said. In explanations for the stiffer sentence, the judge pointed to Schaap's attempts to get rid of evidence by deleting text messages and photos of him with the girl and that the pastor also fired at least one church staffer who had questioned the pastor's relationship with the girl, Lozano said.

"Schaap initially denied the allegations when confronted." How Christian of him.

So this sleazy piece of shit used the trust of this child to convince her that the God which she believes in, and who she also believed he spoke on behalf of, had provided her to him to violate? That one of the most hateful things that I can imagine a person doing to a trusting. deeply religious child.

You know I don't believe in hell, but once in a while I wish I was wrong. Because in this case it simply does not feel that this sentence is nearly enough.

Perhaps the most disgusting part is how his congregation made excuses on his behalf.

More than 100 letters of support were sent to Lozano, attesting to decades of good works by the pastor, and claiming that stress and health problems— including prostate troubles and “low lithium levels”— led Schaap to stray during a romantic relationship with the vulnerable teen.

That is the kind of loyalty that only comes when somebody has been convinced that a person is "special" and has some unique insight or relationship with a higher power.

They are conditioned to trust him, and so trust him they do. As did this poor young girl, who now will forever fear to trust anybody EVER again.
