GQ Magazine lists the Bible among the "21 Books You Don't Have to Read."

Courtesy of GQ:

The Holy Bible is rated very highly by all the people who supposedly live by it but who in actuality have not read it. Those who have read it know there are some good parts, but overall it is certainly not the finest thing that man has ever produced. It is repetitive, self-contradictory, sententious, foolish, and even at times ill-intentioned.

Indeed. I agree wholeheartedly.

As you can imagine that has some Christian leaders all worked up.

Including, of course, Franklin Graham.

Okay somebody needs to tell these idiots that just because somebody BUYS the Bible that does not mean they have READ the Bible.

It is actually rare for anybody to sit down and read the entire book from cover to cover.

I actually HAVE read the Bible, which separates me from the vast majority of people who self identify as Christians.

I was in my teens when I read it the first time, and found it laborious and poorly written.

I quite literally could not imagine how such a piss poor book could have inspired an entire religion.

I attempted to read it again in my twenties, but then one day suddenly stopped with the realization that doing so was a complete waste of my time.

And I stand by that assessment.

I think Pennsylvania can do better than this.

He screamed in his high pitched little voice.

Jesus these people are deranged.

Creationist Ken Ham does not think that Bill Nye's show about real facts is appropriate for children. Because you know superstitious fairy tales are so much more palatable.

Courtesy of Science AF:

Creationist Ken Ham loves to challenge Bill Nye on every scientific issue under the sun, and the release of Bill Nye Saves the World season two was too great an opportunity to miss.

In a blog post for his website Answers in Genesis, the famous creationist accused the Science Guy's new show of being "inappropriate" for children.

"Bill Nye is not kid friendly at all (this new show is geared toward millennials), and both seasons of this show's content (which pushes a secular view of origins and morality) are certainly not appropriate for children," Ham wrote, proposing that the show should really be called "Bill Nye Needs to be Saved."

"He is definitely not Bill Nye the kid-friendly guy! Beware!"

Apparently, the promotion of basic scientific facts is now considered inappropriate.

Apparently Ham is upset about Nye's descriptive language when discussing STD's and superbugs, and argues that his show is too secular in nature.

Does Ham not realize that science by its very nature is "secular?"

No, I guess he wouldn't.

So in Ken Ham's version of educating children you simply fill their head with superstitious nonsense and then threaten them with eternal torment if they refuse to believe you, and Bill Nye's approach is to present actual fact based information in a fun and entertaining manner.

Got it.

The Pope wants to take on fake news. And there goes the irony meter again.

Courtesy of Time Magazine:

In a statement on the theme, the Vatican said it "relates to so-called 'fake news', namely baseless information that contributes to generating and nurturing a strong polarisation of opinions. It involves an often misleading distortion of facts, with possible repercussions at the level of individual and collective behaviour."

The 52nd World Day of Social Communications will be on May 13, 2018, and Pope Francis's message will be published on Jan. 24, 2018.

"The Church too wishes to offer a contribution," to the discussion of fake news, the Vatican wrote, "proposing a reflection on the causes, the logic and the consequences of disinformation in the media, and helping to promote professional journalism, which always seeks the truth, and therefore a journalism of peace that promotes understanding between people."

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what the Pope is trying to do, but how can he be taken seriously on this topic?

When it comes to fake news there are probably very few books that can really compete with this one.

People are STILL constantly turned against actual facts, and new scientific discovers, based solely on the mythology contained in these pages.

So yes your holiness, fake news is indeed bad.

But that pertains to ALL fake news.

So now there's a gay Bible, where Rihanna is the Lord. Seems right.

Courtesy of Pride:

Just weeks after becoming the Mayor of Hell, Michigan and banning all heterosexuals from entering the town, comedian Elijah Daniel has now rewritten the holy bible for the gays.

The EDV (Elijah Daniel Version) translation has a few updates from previous editions; Rihanna is God, she made Adam and Steve, not Adam and Eve, and instead of wine, Jesus turns water into mimosas.

Well mimosas have vitamin C, so clearly that is a better choice.
I'm just confused as to when Rihanna became the gay icon.

I knew that Lady Gaga had replaced Madonna and Cher awhile back, but I am totally out of the loop concerning Rihanna's rise as a deity.

But anything that irritates the snot out of the Fundamentalists works for me.

And clearly this does that.

As another deadly storm threatens our citizens creationist Ken Ham would like to take a moment to remind you that it's all your fault you unrepentant sinners.

For the record people do not "believe" in Evolution, but rather than accept and understand the facts of science.

Facts don't require faith.
Acknowledge my sinful state, buddy I celebrate my sinful state.

It is so hard to believe that in the 21st Century there are still so many idiots condemned to remain trapped in such primitive thought processes and so willing to embrace superstitious nonsense instead of expanding their minds and gaining release from the prison of their fears.

(H/T to Joe My God.)

Evangelical group releases document detailing "ethical" Christian sex practices. Spoiler alert: Gay sex is not on it.

Courtesy of Think Progress:

Evangelical Christians are up to something new.

At least that’s the position of many criticizing the “Nashville Statement,” a controversial document championing “biblical” sexual ethics that was penned this past week and signed by roughly 150 prominent evangelical leaders. The document, divided into 14 articles and released by the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW), mostly parrots denunciations of LGBTQ identities and relationships common among right-wing evangelicals. But it drew added attention for doing something unusual: extending their condemnation to Christians who affirm queer people.

“We affirm that it is sinful to approve of homosexual immorality or transgenderism and that such approval constitutes an essential departure from Christian faithfulness and witness,” Article 10 of the statement reads. “We deny that the approval of homosexual immortality or transgenderism is a matter of moral indifference about which otherwise faithful Christian should agree to disagree.”

The statement triggered outrage almost immediately, especially among LGBTQ and LGBTQ-affirming Christians who saw it as a direct attack on their understanding of the faith. Within hours, several progressive Christian groups issued their own counter-statements refuting the evangelical document point-by-point, with some deriding it as “anti-LGBTQ bigotry.” Faithful America, an online advocacy organization for progressive Christians, already has thousands of signatures for a petition rejecting the statement.

Essentially this "Nashville Statement" is just an excuse to attack teh gays and attempt to shame Christians who are not interested in vilifying their lifestyle.

By the way despite what many Christians have been taught the Bible only makes mention of homosexuality about six times, and it is not so much condemned as simply misunderstood.

It is this kind of repressive mindset that is pushing people away from religion.

Young people simply do NOT want to be told how and who to love.

Personally I enjoy watching the church prove that they are a primitive superstitious entity dedicated to shaming and manipulating their congregations. That has been my position since I was about ten years old.

However if the Christians really want their faith to survive, they might want to do a little thing called "evolve."

I know, ironic right?

Hobby Lobby forced to return illegally obtained "Biblical" artifacts and pay 5 million dollar fine.

Courtesy of NPR:

Hobby Lobby, the Oklahoma-based chain of arts and crafts retail stores, has agreed to pay a $3 million fine and forfeit thousands of ancient clay tablets and clay bullae that were smuggled into the United States with improper labels.

The announcement by the Justice Department says Hobby Lobby bought over 5,500 artifacts, such as clay tablets and blocks with cuneiform writing, and cylinder seals for $1.6 million. The artifacts, originally from Iraq, were shipped to the company from the United Arab Emirates and Israel with labels that described them as "ceramic tiles" or "clay tiles (sample)."

In a statement, Hobby Lobby President Steve Green said the company "was new to the world of acquiring these items, and did not fully appreciate the complexities of the acquisitions process. This resulted in some regrettable mistakes."

"We should have exercised more oversight and carefully questioned how the acquisitions were handled," he said.

But the Justice Department prosecutors say the company should have realized that its acquisition of the artifacts "was fraught with red flags."

As it turns out Hobby Lobby was warned about these "red flags" by their own expert.

Courtesy of CNN:

"In October 2010, an expert on cultural property law retained by Hobby Lobby warned the company that the acquisition of cultural property likely from Iraq, including cuneiform tablets and cylinder seals, carries a risk that such objects may have been looted from archaeological sites in Iraq," the DOJ said.

"The expert also advised Hobby Lobby to review its collection of antiquities for any objects of Iraqi origin and to verify that their country of origin was properly declared at the time of importation into the United States. "

But hey, why listen to THAT guy?

As if all of this were not embarrassing enough to Hobby Lobby, there is also the fact that they may inadvertently be funding ISIS.

Courtesy of Newsweek:

Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq are netting between $150 million and $200 million a year from illicit trade in plundered antiquities, Russia's ambassador to the United Nations said in a letter released on Wednesday.

"Around 100,000 cultural objects of global importance, including 4,500 archaeological sites, nine of which are included in the World Heritage List of ... UNESCO, are under the control of the Islamic State ... in Syria and Iraq," Ambassador Vitaly Churkin wrote in a letter to the U.N. Security Council.

"The profit derived by the Islamists from the illicit trade in antiquities and archaeological treasures is estimated at U.S. $150-200 million per year," he said.

These artifacts were scheduled to be displayed at the Hobby Lobby's Museum of the Bible.

But here's the thing, MOST so called "biblical artifacts" turn out to be bullshit, and are either actual ancient artifacts unrelated to events in the Bible or outright fabrications of pottery and cuneiform tablets that sell like hot cakes to Christians desperate to prove that the Bible is accurate.

In fact Archeological finds rarely support events occurring in the Bible, though that often does not stop charlatans from offering them up as proof.

I think the only thing that one could learn by visiting this "Museum of the Bible" is that the folks who own Hobby Lobby have money to burn, and that it would undoubtedly be better spent helping the poor, building a REAL museum, or at the very least not wasted fighting against having to provide access to contraception in their employee's health care plan.

That new body slamming Montana Congressman believes that retirement is for pussies because Noah was building that ark at 600 years old.

Hi my name is Greg Gianforte and I believe in fairy tales.
Courtesy of the Washington Post:

In a 2015 talk at the Montana Bible College, Gianforte said the idea of retirement doesn’t exactly match his religious beliefs.

“There’s nothing in the Bible that talks about retirement. And yet it’s been an accepted concept in our culture today,” he said at the time, according to a report in HuffPost. “Nowhere does it say, ‘Well, he was a good and faithful servant, so he went to the beach.’ It doesn’t say that anywhere.”

“How old was Noah when he built the ark? 600,” he said. “He wasn’t like, cashing Social Security checks, he wasn’t hanging out, he was working. So, I think we have an obligation to work. The role we have in work may change over time, but the concept of retirement is not biblical.”

Oh dear god that I don't believe in, what fresh hell, which I also don't believe in, has Montana subjected itself to?

Noah is a character in a children's tale of morality, NOT an actual person whose life should be taken literally!

I swear the next person who tries to convince me that religion does not destroy rational thinking, I am going to body slam.

New poll shows that now only 24% of Americans believe that the Bible is the "literal word of God."

Courtesy of Gallup:

Fewer than one in four Americans (24%) now believe the Bible is "the actual word of God, and is to be taken literally, word for word," similar to the 26% who view it as "a book of fables, legends, history and moral precepts recorded by man." This is the first time in Gallup's four-decade trend that biblical literalism has not surpassed biblical skepticism. Meanwhile, about half of Americans -- a proportion largely unchanged over the years -- fall in the middle, saying the Bible is the inspired word of God but that not all of it should be taken literally.

From the mid-1970s through 1984, close to 40% of Americans considered the Bible the literal word of God, but this has been declining ever since, along with a shrinking percentage of self-identified Christians in the U.S. Meanwhile, the percentage defining the Bible as mere stories has doubled, with much of that change occurring in the past three years.

Okay that's progress, but there are still WAY to many Americans buying into this superstitious nonsense.

Our gullibility makes us easy marks for frauds and charlatans, and that gullibility is fed into and nourished by these primitive books of fairy tales.

You would think in the days of Google, where computers are built into our mobile phones, and information about EVERYTHING is only a button click away, that we would stop clinging to stories of miracles and ancient demigods.

And yet here we are, still pathetically unable to shake off the shackles of ignorance and the desperate need to believe in the impossible.

Sarah Palin uses the Bible to attack education and smear college professors.

Palin at one of the numerous colleges she attended.
Courtesy of Sister Mary Hypocrite's Bible study page:

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Matthew 6:24

(And what does that passage have to do with college you might ask? Nothing really, but that does not stop Palin from using it as an opening for this serving of stupidity.)

It took me five years (And five different colleges.) to graduate college, because I worked throughout to pay for it. All my siblings did; there was never a question about Dad’s teacher salary covering four kids in college at once. We did the math…we all got jobs. Nowadays, parents unload boatloads of money on a kid’s “college experience,” and that “experience” has never been costlier. (The Democrats had a plan for bringing tuition costs down dramatically, just that I should remind people of that.)

Not just financially. Modern college culture often involves nonstop efforts to unravel our children’s value systems. Self-indulgence is the name of the game, with professors blatantly attempting to indoctrinate with their liberalism. (Well facts DO have a liberal bias.) College today isn’t necessarily an incredibly rigorous experience, where students’ minds are constantly challenged and their horizons broadened. (And you would know this how?) So many courses are so politically correct they don’t even pass the straight-face test. Since really buckling down to take silly courses isn’t required, much time is dedicated to just having a good time – to partying. Many professors have cushy jobs that don’t require them to, you know, actually teach. (Also complete bullshit.) That means parents spend their hard-earned money – or, more accurately, borrow their not-yet- earned money – for grad students and adjuncts to fill the role of educator. You getting what you paid for, Pops?

And for all of this, the student-loan debt in America is nearly $1 trillion! It’s prudent to think twice before shelling out big bucks to liberals so they can enjoy efforts to brainwash the next generation.

(Well she has a point. The best way for conservative parents to keep their kids conservative is to deny them an education.)

Today, teach kids the value of higher education, making sure they value God’s Truth over the falsehoods of man. (In this context God's Truth is superstitious nonsense from the Bible, and the "falsehoods of man" are facts.) Consider creative ways to pay for education – such as, ummm, getting a job. It teaches them the value of what they’re receiving, and even possibly keeps them from blowing cash when the keg party passes the hat.

I am sorry, HOW many of Palin's kids attended college? (And I don't mean hair or skin college.)

And HOW many of them have jobs right now?

Last I heard Willow was working, but as for the others.......

And do we have an example of what happens to kids who do not go on to pursue higher education, and instead embrace their parent's values?

Oh that's right, we do.

Go ahead revisit the Palin family embracing their family values instead of going to college and being "indoctrinated."

Gee, if only ALL parents raised their children in a similar fashion.

Sarah Palin uses outdated stalker story to fail miserably to make a religious point.

Once again from the Church of Palinology:

…the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. Psalm 34:16

Last fall on a peaceful Sunday afternoon, Bristol was returning home with Tripp when she sensed something was wrong. Someone was waiting for her on her front steps.

The stranger said he’d been waiting; he told Bristol he wanted her time.

She knew immediately this was a stalker who’d sent thousands of bizarre, threatening messages to her through Facebook and other means. Even after she’d blocked him, he’d assume different identities, delusionally insisting he worked for me and had a relationship with Willow, and he ramped up his dangerous harassment of Bristol. When she realized this guy had come all the way from Florida to Alaska for some kind of encounter, she grabbed Tripp and ran for help. We’d been through this before. This particular stalker ended up in jail, and there are others in or out of jail today who’ve stalked our family. They’re messed up men used by the enemy to commit acts of evil.

One may nonchalantly take the above Scripture figuratively until something bad happens. Then you understand how God preserves your life. We’ve had many disturbing, even dangerous moments since my family was thrust into the spotlight in 2008. This past year was particularly trying. For us it’s been imperative that we remember God is greater than the enemy of our soul. He’s more powerful, and His omnipotence holds our destinies. I cannot fathom how it would be not to have this promise to cling to. I pray for everyone reading this devotional that whatever threats they might face, their faith will pull them through.

Starting a little further back at Psalm 34:11. King James version of course, this reads:

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Essentially this is a psalm bragging on God's power to destroy evil, and to remind the faithful not to stray.

I am especially taken with this section:

Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

Both Sarah and Bristol have written books attacking those they disagree with, in fact Palin made a whole career out of it for years.

I should also mention that this story that Palin says happened "last fall" actually happened almost three years ago.

So right there she is lying.

It should also be pointed out that God did NOT "blot out" this stalker's "name from the earth."

Instead Bristol took the secular path of relying on the local police for protection, and the courts to keep her that way.

So one has to wonder if Bristol somehow failed to demonstrate the adequate amount of religious devotion in order to earn God's protection, and rather than "blot out" this man's name he instead allowed him to make it all the way to Alaska where he terrified Bristol and forced her to rely on more modern methods to keep her safe?

In other words Palin's story essentially illustrates exactly why one should not place all of their faith in God, and should instead take responsibility for their own welfare and the welfare of their loved ones.

Sarah Palin makes a truly pathetic online preacher.

Yet another failure to add to her ever growing list of failures.

Saturday, March 11, 2017

Sarah Palin dives deep into her pool of hypocrisy while preaching about charitable giving.

Okay so it has been awhile I thought it was about time to go ahead and see what the Wasilla Wendigo has been up to.

Well mostly scouring Donald Trump's withered orange ball sack with her tongue actually, but also occasionally stepping up to the pulpit to preach to the handful or supporters who still give two shits about what she has to say.

And so it was yesterday with a "Daily Devotional" about giving.

No I did not type that incorrectly, it is about giving.

Of course the post starts out with a Bible verse that I imagine somebody looked up for her just for this occasion.

Then Palin turns the hypocrisy up to eleven and this is the result:

Growing up, I was taught that the Bible says we can “test” God in our tithes and offerings. Without fail, He always repays when we give. (Yeah, okay that is demonstrably untrue.) It’s been fun to pass that lesson on to my kids because they clearly see the proof.

The blessing of giving is participating in it willingly – cheerfully even. Our government has it backward. Politicians put their hands in someone else’s pocket instead of treating other people’s hard-earned money as they would their own. In Washington, there’s too much addiction to OPM (other people’s money). (This from a woman who quite literally lived on the donations to her SuperPAC from idiots who believed she was actually someday going to run for president.) In fact, when politicians’ personal finances have to be disclosed when they run for office, some of the most self-described compassionate liberals are revealed as the least charitable. (I'm sorry, where are Donald Trump's tax returns again?)

That’s not God’s plan. He’s calling us to step up. The easy way out is to simply depend on the government to hand out everything, bu (I think that was supposed to be "but.") the first lesson in any good Econ 101 course is: “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.” (Don't your children receive free health care for being part native? Why yes, yes they do.) Our government was never intended to rob from Peter to give to Paul. Safety nets? Yes. Unnecessary government dependency? No. Joy, blessings, and productivity are found in voluntary giving, in personally providing help to the needy. (Literally not a self aware bone in this lunatic's body. Remember the family motto? "What's in it for us?")

Today, give something extravagant to God, not out of guilt or obligation, but because you delight in God’s generosity and want to emulate it!

Now I have to admit that the idea of tithing has always really bothered me.

After all for what use does a creature with the ability to create something out of nothing have for money?

And why do people need to pay to have a priest, pastor, or minister explain a book to them that they can all read for themselves?

Yeah, that just never made sense to me.

So there you go, what Sarah Palin is up when she is not giving Donald Trump a good ball washing is honing her televangelist skills, which clearly still need some work.

Wednesday, February 22, 2017

Sarah Palin uses the Bible to condemn same sex marriage.

Okay well I had to visit Palin's stupid new website to read this, but you all can read it here:

“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?” Matthew 19:4-5 (Looks like Palin is moving ever closer to her eventual career as a televangelist.)

When God created Adam and Eve as similar but oh-so-different, those very differences created the institution that’s so hotly debated today: marriage. (Actually marriage predates religion, at least the religions that we see today, and was originally typically  seen as strategic alliance between families. Neither love, nor god, had much of anything to do with it.)

He made us “male and female,” so “for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife.” (Once again primitive quotes from religious texts have virtually nothing to do with our modern understanding of marriage.)

On June 26, 2015, five of the nine appointed Supreme Court justices voted to redefine marriage, knocking down laws all across the country. No longer, according to the court, can marriage be defined as the union of one man and one woman. (And that is what we refer to as "progress.")

But Psalm 33:10-12 says God is ultimately in control of the nations and His plans stand firm forever, meaning everything He ordains won’t be un-ordained, even by five black robes. (Somebody needs to remind this nitwit that we live by the rule of law in America. Not by Biblical law.)

Franklin Graham brilliantly stated, “With all due respect to the court, it did not define marriage, and therefore is not entitled to re-define it.” (Nobody cares, and that is a fairly loose translation of the word "brilliantly.".)

No matter what happens next from the courts, and there’s bound to be a “next” or many “nexts,” God’s law for marriage and family remains the same. And I’m sticking with His plan.

As individuals and as a society, we need to strengthen marriage, not redefine it through the courts or devalue it through sin. Do something special to strengthen your own marriage, remember that it is a union before God, and remember that the family is sometimes called “the domestic church.”

Let me remind all of you that Palin HAD to get married because she was knocked up. Just like her mother.

She also got married in a courthouse, so there was no "union before god."

There is also quite a bit of evidence to suggest that the child she was carrying at the time was NOT Todd's son. I don't think the Bible has a lot of nice things to say about THAT either.

Add to that the fact that Palin also had an affair with Todd's business partner, and it seems that she is lobbing stones inside the shakiest of glass houses.

If we also consider Bristol's two pregnancies out of wedlock, and Track beating his fiancee either before or after he impregnated her, also outside of wedlock, it just makes everything Palin has had ghostwritten for her in this post seem almost like she is purposefully inviting mockery.

Either that or she is the least self aware person on the planet.

You decide.

Diorama at Ken Ham's Creationist Museum show giants fighting in gladiator pits alongside dinosaurs. Remember, this is supposed to be a "museum."

Courtesy of HuffPo:

A new display going into the creationist Noah’s Ark attraction in Kentucky shows what appears to be gladiator-style fights involving humans, giants and a dinosaur.

The dinosaur is visible in the far right of the first image, which has a giant on the left apparently about to spear a human.

Ham, who believes in a strict literal interpretation of the Bible, claims the planet is roughly 6,000 years old, that humans existed alongside dinosaurs and that Noah even carried dinosaurs with him on the ark during a global flood roughly 4,300 years ago.

There is no scientific evidence for a race of giants.

This is exactly the kind of thing that makes it possible for somebody like Donald Trump to be elected president in this country.

Teach the children mythological fables as fact, suppress their critical thinking skills, and the next thing you know you have created another conservative voter.

Sarah Palin believes news story about found Bible pages in the wake of a fire that killed three people and burned over a hundred structures show "the hand of God."

I do not blame you for not clicking the link which goes to that Young Conservatives website that Palin has been pimping lately.

However it borrows almost its entire post from a USA Today story which you can read by clicking here.

In the story a Dollywood employee sifts through the devastation left by that Tennessee fire and shares this story:

McCord, 24, sat on the bench where he found the paper, and called Carver over. Their work partners, Dollywood wardrobe manager Angela Davis and employee Kimberly Moore, had left to go to the restroom, McCord said.

In silence, the pair pored over the page, the edges of which were burned black, rendering many words illegible. But parts of the right side of the page were preserved enough to get the message across: it perfectly reflected, McCord said, the tragic natural disaster that had thrust Gatlinburg and Sevier County into the national spotlight the night before.

"O Lord, to thee will I cry: For the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field," the page reads, according to a picture of the page posted on McCord's Facebook.

"At first, we didn't know what part of the book it was from," McCord said on Tuesday night, "but we saw bits and pieces about fire and scorching the land, and how the beast groaned and roared for help."

The page appears to be from the first chapter of Joel from the King James version of the Bible.

"We were like this is unreal, this is unbelievable," McCord said. "When we had both fully read it, we looked at each other — and I will never forget this moment — we both burst into tears. I was ghost white, and we just prayed. There was nothing else to do.. Still to this moment, almost four hours after the fact, I don't have words for it.

I have words for it:

"Ridiculous"

"Pathetic"

 "Confirmation bias"

Apparently Palin believes that these pages represent the "hand of God" sending some kind of message to these volunteers, however in the beginning of this article it points out that the fire was responsible for "destroying more than 150 structures, killing at least three people and displacing thousands."

If there were actually a message to be gleaned from this it would surely be "I hate you all and I want to see you burn!"

NO wonder these people are the preferred targets for scammer and charlatans from all over the world.

The spread of Christianity in a nutshell.

No it is not lost on me that Tutu is a Bishop in the Anglican Church, however that does not make his words any less true.

Whenever anybody attempts to convince me of all the good that Christianity has done in the world, all I have to do is think about the indigenous people of Alaska and in many other parts of the world, to remember the cost of all of that "good."

Entire cultures and civilizations were wiped out to make room for the Christian expansion, and in exchange for the loss of their land, their heritage, and in some cases even their language, they were promised a life after death that nobody has proved exists in the thousands of years of Christianity's existence.

That is a hell of a marketing ploy.

Michele Bachmann warns that electing Hillary Clinton will lead to more sexual assaults against women, Because, you know, Bible.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Former Rep. Michele Bachmann appeared on the American Pastors Network’s “Stand In The Gap” radio program yesterday, where she warned conservative Christians not to buy into the “lies” about Donald Trump because electing Hillary Clinton as president will only lead to more sexual assaults in America.

Trump may have made “crude” remarks, but that pales in comparison to what Bill Clinton has done, Bachmann argued, which was to “criminally assault women” and for which he has “never paid the price.”

The best thing that Christian men and women can do, Bachmann said, is to ensure that Hillary Clinton never becomes president because she “will set a standard in this country that will lead to even more sexual assaults against women because she will be setting an anti-biblical agenda.”

Rohrer agreed, saying that the effort to turn Christian women away from Trump is really a satanic effort to “divide Christian evangelical homes,” which prompted Bachmann to declare that “this is an effort by Hillary Clinton supporters and George Soros, through Sojourners and other so-called Christian organizations, to divide us. These are lies and we, as Christians, need to recognize that this is a lie and a deception and we need to wake up and resist these lies.”

Yeah people who believe the primitive superstitious nonsense in the Bible should be careful not to fall for any lies.

Boy I really miss ole Michele Bachmann. Now that she and Sarah Palin are only popping up occasionally I have to get the majority of my batshit crazy female bullshit from the Trump surrogates, like Kellyanne Conway, Katrina Pierson, and Scottie Nell Hughes.

I mean it's sometimes good and all, but it's just not quite the same.

Republicans add using Bibles as textbooks in our public schools to their party platform.

As if this year’s Republican convention couldn’t get any worse, it has somehow managed to top itself already, which, frankly, is saying a lot when you consider the fact that they’re literally nominating Donald-fucking-Trump. The GOP platform committee passed an amendment mandating that the Bible be allowed to be taught in schools as a historical document, according to NBC and Reuters reporters in Cleveland Monday. NBC’s Ginger Gibson tweeted, “Teaching the Bible in public schools remains in Republican platform.”

This addition to the party platform ignores the whole “freedom of religion” and “separation of church and state” laws conservatives bring up when it comes to having the freedom to discriminate against gay people, and then conveniently forget when it comes to letting gay people marry or women choose to not be mothers. Additionally, it could burden sensible teachers in public, secular schools who would paradoxically have to teach our Constitutional rights regarding religion, but simultaneously teach Judeo-Christian-centric curriculum to impressionable youth who have the right to come to their own intellectual conclusions about religion.

Personally I don't need another reason to vote against every Republican running for office this year, but if you are even a remotely intelligent person and nee one.....well this should be more than enough.

California Christian school uses modern technology to indoctrinate children with superstitious nonsense.

A dozen second-graders in Kim Kihm’s Bible class watched slide shows about the Ten Commandments on the classroom’s smart board and scrolled through Bible passages on their iPads.

While reading about the Good Samaritan, the Capistrano Valley Christian Schools students formed hearts in the air with their arms and sang a Bible verse about loving your neighbor as yourself.

“I like how we can use iPads so we can read and see pictures how it was back then,” said Scarlett Vukich, 8, of San Juan Capistrano, about the lesson.

It’s all part of the school’s digital Bible pilot program, which goes beyond teaching the Bible with high-tech tools.

With the help of a $1.5 million grant from two south Orange County families who wish to remain anonymous, Capistrano Valley Christian Schools are creating a web-based program that teaches Christianity using evidence they say can prove the truth of the Bible to better equip students to defend their faith – a discipline known as Christian apologetics.

“Our goal is to revolutionize the way the Bible is taught in Christian schools so kids will be firm in their faith,” said Kim Van Vlear, director of Bible curriculum development at the schools. “We want to show why the Bible is true with proven evidence like science, archeology and history.”

You know using science to teach religious faith is sort of like using water to build a campfire.

I still think that indoctrinating these children into ANY religion that informs them to mistrust facts and science is a form of child abuse.

If the tenets of your religion are so compelling then why can't you wait to teach them to people once their minds have fully matured and their critical thinking skills have kicked in?

This shit just pisses me off.
