The Daily Show did the best coverage of the Rachel Dolezal story that I have seen so far.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

On Monday night's "Daily Show," Stewart figured the bizarre story would end with Dolezal's resignation, which also would have ended his "Whaaaaaaat!?' segment.

"Unless of course somebody wants to take a singular incident unrepresentative of any larger construct or trend and force it into exhausting, 24-hour Benghazi Obamaphone culture war dog whistle who-gives-a-fuck-a-tron," he said.

That "somebody" was Fox News, which was looking for a way to blame the whole thing on liberalism. One Fox talking head even said the incident was proof that racism wasn't so pernicious because "if racism was so pernicious, why would a white woman pretend to be black?"

"Yes, yes, a white person," Stewart said, giving the "A" the emphasis. "Why would a singular white person?"

He continued:

“You might also ask, perhaps more appropriately, if being black is such a sweet deal, why are millions of white people ignoring this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? How do you make all these sweeping generalizations about it anyway? One lady -- one lady, una mas lady -- in Washington state’s second-largest city pretending to be black. Clearly liberal culture has reached its nadir. Rome has fallen, yet racism is over. It is the best of times, it is the worst of times -- all because a German lady got a weave."

However the best part of the coverage came when Jon had uber white Jordan Klepper come out as the show's senior black correspondent, which forced Jessica Williams to come out and lay down some truth.

I have watched hours of coverage on this story, but in my opinion this did the best job among all of them.

Jessica Williams: "We need allies, not replacements."

P.S. Rachel Dolezal did an interview with MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry that will air later tonight. Personally I think I will set aside the time to watch that.

There IS actually a time when the Stand Your Ground defense does not work in Texas.

Courtesy of Free Thought:

On Friday, May 9, 2014, just after 5:30am in Killeen, Texas, Marvin Louis Guy was the target of a no knock raid.

The officers were looking for drugs, yet none were found in the home. There was some questionable paraphernalia, but nothing indicative of drug dealing- or anything damning enough for a reasonable person to feel the need to take an officers life.

Unfortunately the danger of no-knock raids is real. just ask the parents of baby Bou or the family of Detective Dinwiddie.

Detective Dinwiddie was one of the SWAT officers who broke into Guy’s house on May 9th, based on a seemingly bogus informant tip off about drugs being dealt from the home.

Likely alarmed by the men climbing through his windows at 5:30 in the morning, Guy and his wife sought to protect themselves and their property and fired on the intruders- in self defense.

Dinwiddie, along with three other officers were shot while attempting to breach the windows to the home, according to the department’s press release.

Detective Dindiddie later succumbed to his injuries, and  now prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for capital murder, and three counts of attempted capital murder for firing on officers breaking into his house unannounced in the wee hours of the morning.

As of yet the NRA has not weighed in with support for Guy, nor have there been any 2nd Amendment protests outside the police station demonstrating that they believe this is a miscarriage of justice.

Why you may ask?

Well this is Marvin Louis Guy. So you tell me.

And before you accuse me of playing the race card you need to know that this guy...

...also killed a police officer unannounced and the charges were dropped against him.

I know, probably just a coincidence right?

Guess who is going to race the Iron Dog next year?

Oh you are going to love this.

So a couple of weeks ago I heard this rumor that Levi was thinking about taking a run at the Iron Dog. (This was before this last race took place.)

I thought at the time, well THAT would be a real kick in the ass, and it would certainly aggravate the crap out of a certain Wasilla/Scottsdale family that we all know.

However one rumor does not a story make, so I did not bother to post anything about it just in case it was BS.

Well now I know that it is absolutely NOT BS. Levi has been talking to a number of people in Wasilla about the plan and even has some potential sponsors and investors lined up.

Now here is where it gets really entertaining.

Apparently after this last disastrous Iron Dog run (They were the first team to scratch and did so only hours into the race.) Todd has been telling just about anyone who will listen that he is retiring and leaving the race to the younger guys.

THAT was until he got wind of Levi's plans. Apparently once he heard that, he had a change of heart and now is telling people that he has at least one more good race in him.

Yeah, okay.

I have to wonder if it is Todd's idea to stay in the race to defend the family honor against their arch nemesis, or if it he is simply doing what the lady who pays the bills tells him to do.

In my opinion there is no real win for Todd in this.

I doubt he has what it takes to win this race anymore, so if he does manage to come in before Levi, who would be novice, then a three time champion managed to beat a rookie, and you just know somebody is going to want to ask him questions about Levi.

However if Levi beats Todd, and trust me there will be MUCH more scrutiny by the press if he competes, then he gets to talk about what the Palins have done to his family and essentially becomes a media darling. Actually that is a conversation he gets to have regardless of where he places.

Essentially the soon to be 24 year old would be David to the Palin family Goliath.

I like it.

I am pretty sure that the Wasilla kitchen appliances are safe for now, but I am willing to bet that right now in Arizona there is a poor dented refrigerator cowering in fear.

Abortion opinions based on race and religion.

Courtesy of Talking Points Memo:

As part of its extensive study on Americans' views of abortion that was released Monday, Pew Research Center broke down the findings to provide a closer look at a number of groups and sub-groups, including by region and gender.

You know what I find fascinating?  That the Evangelicals, who seem to take most of their cues from the Old Testament rather than the New, are overwhelmingly anti-abortion, while the Jewish community, whose Torah essentially IS the Old Testament, are overwhelmingly pro-choice.

It would seem that SOMEBODY is suffering from difficulties with reading comprehension.

That reminds me by the way of this brilliant bit by Lewis Black pertaining to Christians misunderstanding or the Old Testament.

Ted Nugent goes after Democrats for destroying his people. You know, black people.

"No this hand gesture has NO relation as to why I own so many guns."
In Nugen'ts latest crayon drawing that he submitted to Wing Nut Daily he makes the following claim:

Barack Obama, the guy who received roughly 93 percent of black American votes, is the clear and present engineer of the destruction of black America.

Yes because becoming the first black presidential role model,  reforming health care which will help African Americans get health care coverage for the first time, and working to repair the economy is SO bad for black people in this country.

But wait there's more:

It was a damnable lie when Vice President Biden stated at a campaign rally attended by many black Americans last fall that if the country elected Republicans they would “put y’all back in chains.” What a disgrace and clown Vice President Biden is. He’s a national embarrassment.

The truth is that the Democratic Party has been the engineer of the destruction of black Americans, and everyone knows it except the very people who need to know it the most – black Americans.

The turbo-destruction will continue for black Americans until they realize that dirty Democrat politicians are their true enemy, not their salvation. Fortunately, some are beginning to embrace this self-evident truth.

I am not sure what "turbo-destruction" is, but it sounds like a word a ten year old boy comes up with to describe something he really does not understand very well.

"Ooh that movie I just watched was a rocket inspired epic slam dunk of a film all covered in awesome sauce!"

But what can you expect from a national embarrassment who projects that title onto one of the most beloved Vice Presidents in history?

Nugent then goes full retard by making up a number of superlatives in order to describe the influence of black musicians on that horrible racket that HE makes on stage.

Indeed, the tapestry of black America is rich and vibrant. I don’t celebrate Black History Month. I celebrate it every day, as my very black-inspired musical dreams could not have been successful were it not for black Americans.

My fire-breathing musical career was literally launched by black musical thundergods such as Bo Diddly, Little Richard, James Brown, Wilson Picket, Sam & Dave, Albert King, BB King, Freddie King, the mighty Funk Brothers, and the epitome of Rock ‘n’ Roll Gods, the master, Chuck Berry. The music these gentlemen created gave birth to my music and all great, moving, soulful music. We owe it all to them.

By the way some of the ways that Nugent has celebrated Black History everyday is by once suggesting that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were "lisping ebonic-mumbo jumbo," and comparing gun owners to Rosa Parks.  Because you know NOTHING says I am down with the African American community quite like making fun of civil rights icons.

As for that whole Bo Diddly, Little Richard, and Wilson Picket being "thundergods" I would like to point out that not only is the ACTUAL thunder god a lily white Norse guy..

...but that the MAJORITY of African Americans today don't even know who Ted Nugent is. And if they do, they know him for being a crazed pro-gun lunatic, and have little idea that he even plays music, never mind that he believes himself to be a paler version of B.B. King or Chuck Berry.

Let's face it if the Republicans are going to use Ted Nugent as their diplomat in reaching out to African American voters, they might as well forget getting any support from them EVER!

I have to assume that Nugent took this task on because the conservatives could not get ex-KKK leader David Duke to return their phone calls.

Jonathon Capehart weighs in on some African Americans feeling that President Obama is not reponsive to their concerns.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

Over the last three and a half years, there have been three silly political storylines that have driven me absolutely nuts because it was plainly apparent that they were not true. One was that author, reality television star and former half-term Alaska governor Sarah Palin was going to run for president in 2012. Another was that President Obama would swap out Vice President Biden in favor of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. And the most irksome of all is the complaint from African Americans that Obama ignores their concerns.

The latest manifestation of the Obama-doesn’t-care-about-black-people whine comes from Fredrick Harris. In a piece for The Post’s Outlook section headlined “Still waiting for our first black president,” which was adapted from his new book, the Columbia University professor makes a stunningly false argument.

"Obama has pursued a racially defused electoral and governing strategy, keeping issues of specific interest to African Americans — such as disparities in the criminal justice system; the disproportionate impact of the foreclosure crisis on communities of color; black unemployment; and the persistence of HIV/AIDS — off the national agenda. Far from giving black America greater influence in U.S. politics, Obama’s ascent to the White House has signaled the decline of a politics aimed at challenging racial inequality head-on."

Those are all important issues. They must be addressed. The problem for Harris is that they are being addressed by the president. Not in the theatrical way Harris would like. But in the actions-speak-louder-than-words way of Obama.

Capehart then goes on to list the numerous policy decisions that President Obama has  made that address African American concerns. And they are, of course, numerous,

You know we have come to expect that a certain type of American will simply NEVER be happy with the President's performance, you would think that the black community would give him a break.

And yes I know this is only one guy who certainly does NOT speak for all African Americans in this country, but still it just seems ridiculous that any black man in America would provide ammunition for the Right Wing by questioning the support this President has with the African American community.

Surely this individual has to know that the Republicans are looking for ANY way in which to peel off support from this President.  They tried it by suggesting that his speaking out for same sex marriage would cost him Black support. Or that he was waging a "war on women" due to his inability to improve the job market sufficiently. And now they are touting Obama's "Pew Gap" and claiming that he has lost many of the religious voters.

In my opinion, anybody who wants to stop the Republicans from  taking back the White House, and effectively taking us back to George W. Bush's America, needs to look for the positives, and there are many, with this President and leave the criticisms and negativity to the GOP.

As Jonathon Capehart points out at the closing of his article:

By searching for marquis moments, Harris and others appear not to care about the myriad actions Obama has undertaken that affect the lives of all Americans, yes, but also of African Americans more directly. And I certainly don’t advocate for Obama to burst into the East Room clad in Kente cloth and brandishing a definable “black agenda”or whatever else so many blacks seem to want from him to prove that he cares.

Someone who started his career on the south side of Chicago, whose wife is also from Chicago and who also has two young black daughters, doesn’t wake up one day and say, I don’t care about African Americans. That’s why it bothers me to no end that those who are “still waiting for our first black president” seem unwilling to pay attention to what the first black president is actually doing.

All I am saying is that ANY President who has spent the last four years under the kind of constant assault that his man has endured, should NEVER have to worry about  becoming the victim of "friendly fire" from within his own ranks.

That is what second terms are for.
