Bush's handpicked Supreme Court rebukes him on Guantanamo.

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that President Bush overstepped his authority in ordering military war crimes trials for Guantanamo Bay detainees.

The ruling, a rebuke to the administration and its aggressive anti-terror policies, was written by Justice John Paul Stevens, who said the proposed trials were illegal under U.S. law and international Geneva conventions.

This Supreme Court really concerns me. They are guaranteed at some point in the future to make changes to Roe vs Wade, and they are certainly not going to protect our civil rights in the long term. Having said that however this ruling is a very nice suprise, and I hope we get surprised by them many more times in the future.

Maybe there is some sliver of hope that as these judges grow into their roles of upholding our laws they start to see things a little clearer and perhaps don't always support the conservative agenda.

And once again I would still like that pony.
