The Iraq funding bill that the Democrats caved in to, not only does not have a date for withdrawal, it also virtually ensures that we will never leave

Thursday, May 24 the US Congress voted to continue the war on Iraq. They called it “supporting the troops.” I call it stealing Iraq’s oil-the second largest oil reserves in the world. The “benchmark” or goal the Bush administration has been working on furiously since the US invaded Iraq is the privatization of Iraqi oil. Now they have the US Congress blackmailing the Iraqi Parliament and Iraqi people: no privatization of Iraqi oil, no reconstruction funds.

This threat could not be clearer. If the Iraqi Parliament refuses to pass the privatization legislation, the US Congress will withhold US reconstruction funds promised to the Iraqis to rebuild what the United States has destroyed in Iraq. The privatization law, written by American oil company consultants hired by the Bush administration, would leave the control of only 17 of 80 known oil fields with the Iraq National Oil Company. The remainder (two-thirds) of known oil fields and all yet undiscovered oil fields would be up for grabs by the private oil companies of the world (but guess how many would go to the United States firms given to them by the compliant Iraqi government.)

A lot of us liberals made the case years ago that this war was all about oil, and the right wing called us conspiracy theorists. Yeah, well this pretty much removes any doubt about that fact now doesn't it?

What purpose would we have for taking control of the Iraqi oil, other then to make an obscene profit off of people whose country we bombed back into the stone age and whose people we have killed by the hundreds of thousands? It is literally like stealing the valuables off of a corpse. It is sub-human!

It also shows that the Republicans do not want the violence in Iraq to subside, if that were to happen and the Iraq government were able to get control of their country and no longer need America's help, then American oil companies could not get their hands on this black gold bubbling up out of the sands of Iraq. It just shows that nothing, and I mean nothing, matters as much to these bastards as lining their own pockets. Certainly not the lives of American service men and women or the lives of these Iraqis.

So whichever Democrats signed this bill have shown that they are no better then the Republicans who are so arrogant that they see nothing wrong with forcing their brand of democracy onto a different culture for the sole purpose of creating a profit for our country. And that makes them evil.
