Disturbing phone call with my daughter.

I talked to my 20 year old daughter yesterday. (I had been trying to talk with her since Sunday.)

She told me that she has a friend, who is gay, and whose pastor is insisting that his congregation participate in a fast until this young man changes his orientation. Is that just the most ridiculous thing that you have ever heard?

Number one it demonstrates a truly stone age understanding of human sexuality, and it also uses the morally corrupt method of punishing other community members in an effort to make a empathetic person alter his identity to rescue the people he cares about.

In my interpretation it appears that this pastor is counting on the boy to care more for these church members then the minister does. And you know the boy is very concerned about them, especially his mother. Which in my eyes demonstrates that this young man is more moral and ethical then this supposed "man of God".

Rather then attempting to change this boy perhaps the minister would be better served in learning compassion from him.
