Pope wants to make sure that the Christian faith is protected in Iraq.

President Bush said Saturday that and he and Pope Benedict XVI discussed the pontiff's deep worries that Christians in Iraq would not be embraced by the Muslim majority.

"We didn't talk about just war," Bush said in a news conference with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi during a swing through Europe.

"He was concerned that the society that was evolving would not tolerate the Christian religion. ... He's worrisome about the Christians inside Iraq being mistreated by the Muslim majority."

I think this reveals the real hypocrisy that exists in almost all religions. When they talk about protecting religion they are really just talking about protecting THEIR religion. And when they make flowery speeches about the sanctity of human life they are really referring to the important human lives, the ones that worship the way that THEY do.

You see the Pope may pretend to give a shit about the number of Muslims being killed in Iraq, but secretly he is pleased that they are losing such large numbers of believers so that HIS religion will remain dominant. And Bush is completely on board with that sentiment.

In that respect they are two peas in a hypocritical pod.
