Colin Powell spent two and a half hours trying to talk Bush out of invading Iraq. That's right, a whole 2 1/2 hours!

The former American secretary of state Colin Powell has revealed that he spent 2½ hours vainly trying to persuade President George W Bush not to invade Iraq and believes today’s conflict cannot be resolved by US forces.

“I tried to avoid this war,” Powell said at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado. “I took him through the consequences of going into an Arab country and becoming the occupiers.”

So let me get this straight. Powell spends a whole 2 1/2 hours trying to talk the President out of making a colossal blunder, and then failing that he stands before the United Nations and essentially uses his reputation to try to convince the world that it was in danger from a country that was almost destroyed by the 1991 Gulf War and the sanctions that followed.

You know when I am positive I am right about something and fail to convince another person of my point of view, I do not just throw up my hands and start arguing the other fellas point in place of my own. That is just insane!

So no Colin Powell you cannot have your integrity back! You sold your integrity for a man who will no doubt go down in history as the worst President this country has ever suffered. And you did it because you thought it was your job to support the President's beliefs. But you were wrong. Your job was to stand your ground and protect the American people from an arrogant uneducated buffoon who was making one of the biggest blunders in history. And you Colin Powell helped him to do it.
