No wonder Bush misses Rumsfeld. New Secretary of Defense does not know if invading Iraq was a good idea.

The New York times reporter David Brooks asked Robert Gates this question:

I asked him whether invading Iraq was a good idea, knowing what we know now. He looked at me for a bit and said, “I don’t know.”

How in the hell did an honest answer slip out of the Bush administration?

Did Robert Gates not get in line for his sip of Kool-aid today?

I have to imagine that this will result in a little trip to the re-education room for Mr. Gates.
