Unfortunately Lott's replacement will be chosen by the uber conservative governor Haley Barbour who will undoubtedly find a Trent Lott clone that the feels can be re-elected in the next elections cycle.
Still it is gratifying to see these Republican war horses coming to the realization that their reign of terror is over.
lovely image, LOL! is that how many days he has left, or does the thought of it all going down the tubes kind of affect his, umm, job performance?
ReplyDeleteI think the senator was referring to the size of trouser constituent during an interview with Dr. Phil.
ReplyDeleteLott and Hastert (and others) are leaving because right now they only have to wait one year to turn around and lobby their former colleagues. If they are senators in 2008 they will have to wait 2 years.
ReplyDeleteFor the year they will work for the lobbying firms in the background in advisory capacities.
They are leaving to make tons of money not because they think the "reign of terror" is over. It isn't. I have yet to see anyone (other than Kucinich and Paul) who would repeal the Military Commissions Act, as an example.
