Voters in Iowa begin the process of choosing the next president on Thursday, with Democrats Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards in a frantic scramble for the top spot in the campaign's first nominating contest.
Polls also show a tight race between Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee for the Republican lead as the most heavily contested Iowa campaign in history draws to a close.
For the winner in Iowa, the prize is a valuable shot of momentum and at least a temporary claim to the front-runner's slot in their party's nomination battle.
The third-place finisher in the heavyweight Democratic showdown, meanwhile, could find themselves severely wounded heading into the next contest in New Hampshire on Tuesday.
It looks right now like Hillary will be that 3rd place finisher, and that is good news for the Democratic party.
In my opinion the only weak link the Democrats have is Hillary and the baggage she brings with her.
I had a conversation with my mom over the Hillary situation. She would really like to vote for a woman and is chagrined that I am not supporting Hillary.
So I asked her, would she vote for Hillary if Bill dropped dead tomorrow?
She said no.
So I said, well then you are not really supporting Hillary, you are hoping to get Bill back in control of the country. Mom agreed with me on that.
Then I asked her if she really thought that ANY Democrat that was elected President would NOT seek Bill's advice or give him some position their administration. Mom admitted that they probably would. And I can assure you I said, that Bill will not sit this one out. If he is tapped by the next President he WILL answer the call.
So electing Hillary, to get Bill is unnecessary. Bill will not allow this ship to set sail without him.
Trust me.
That made my mom feel better.
wow...quite a conversation to have with mom...wow...and I loved the argument that you used.
ReplyDeleteSo Wolf is stroking out about Obama winning...the argument is about Change vs "experience"....basically Hill lost as a "DC suit".... HA!!
About Bill Clinton....he is very much invested in helping repair this country...he knows from all his travels how bad it is, the damage- and you were right to point out to her that Bill would help the NEXT pres...hell he even tried to help Bush ( ie Tsunami and Katrina... and much of the Clinton Foundation).....
the thing is the talking heads thought that as women that Hill had it in the bag....but she does not connect to women...enough...she acted entitled....and I think That is what bit her in the butt....
Thanks for the compliment.
ReplyDeleteMy poor mom voted for Bush and has been feeling violated ever since. She keeps checking with me to see what I think about every aspect of the race.
She really would like to vote for a woman, and I understand that. But this race is too big to be decided on a candidates gender or race. We simply need the right person, regardless of skin color or X chromosome count.
