Mike Wooten, from the "Troopergate" scandal, is about to be reassigned for his own protection.

The state trooper behind the abuse-of-power investigations of Gov. Sarah Palin is getting a reassignment this Sunday following threatening telephone calls to his employer.

Mike Wooten has been on desk duty for his own protection in recent weeks after troopers began receiving hostile calls from Alaskans and people outside the state, according to public safety union officials.

Callers said things like "If I ever see Trooper Wooten on the road, I'm not going to let him stop me," according to union director John Cyr.

"It was clear there was a lot of feeling and misdirected feeling among the public," Cyr said Friday of the phone calls received by troopers. "The department came to us. There were worries about Mike's safety. We agreed -- and Mike agreed -- to do paperwork until after the election."

Cyr said Wooten's recent duties included evidence logging and filling out reports. His new role begins Sunday.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said Wooten will be reassigned from the Palmer post to the judicial services bureau in Anchorage. The new job could include overseeing prisoner transports, issuing warrants and assisting in fugitive transfers, Peters said.

I heard Jon Cyr on C.C.'s radio show going into more detail about the kinds of threats that the Office of Public Safety have been receiving.

They are coming from both inside Alaska as well as outside Alaska, and they have run the gamut from overt threat toward Mike Wooten to feelings of fear if they ever encountered Trooper Wooten.

John Cyr was quick to make the point that there has NEVER been a complaint filed against Mike Wooten that did not originate from the Palin family. If not for Sarah Palin and her tribe, Mike Wooten would just be another anonymous trooper facing danger on a daily basis to keep our state safe from the bad guys. She made him infamous, and put his life in danger.

I posted about this news story when it first broke last Saturday. It is worth noting that our local news outlets seem to have been very slow in discovering or picking up this story. The article I stumbled across came from ABC News, a news agency outside of our state.

There seems a hesitance from our own news outlets to publish articles which show Sarah Palin, or her family, in a harsh light. This is very frustrating for those of us desperately trying to learn the truth about Alaska's first family.

Considering what we have learned from the numerous interviews Palin has given to the national media, and what other reporters from outside news agencies have dug up, we have every right to be very concerned and to expect our local newspapers and television stations to start doing their damn jobs.

After all we cannot expect the bloggers to do all of the work now can we?

Update: I changed the picture, apparently the one I originally used was of an actor who just happens to look somewhat like Wooten. You ever have one of those days?

  1. This is such a soap opera. Isn't there REAL news the reporters can be involved in? Let Sarah put her own foot in her mouth. Reporters don't have to concentrate on all the gossip. I'm sick of all the gossip. Make it go away!

  2. Palin should make a public comment about the threats - like in the way of strongly discouraging them. Because this bolsters any case he might want to make against her in a liable lawsuit, defamation of character, and/or incapacity to work. Also, IF he should ever choose, he could go to the National Enquirer or some other "rogue" news outlet with all the goodies - even if it's not all that good. I'd imagine most anyone who's looking to bring her down would be will to pay for his side of the story. I've commented before that I find his restraint against any temptation or outside pressure to come forward and speak commendable. Ironic that he's been made the boogy man, yet he's sorta the victim. And Palin is a-ok letting the village idiots take up their pitchforks in her defense. Incredible. Wonder if Rachel Maddow's heard anything of this....

Oops. Your accompanying photo is of TV actor Matt Parkman. He shows up on a search for Wooten because of a "looka like" post in the blog below:

WOOTEN SHOULD SUE, and may I suggest Philip Weidner, assuming he is still practicing in Alaska. PALIN exhibits every sign of a clinical Narcissistic Personality Disorder. While in the national spotlight, she has gained a reputation as a liar. And, yes, "liar" is the word used; pundits feel no compunction to be tactful about her half truths ( Sara doesn't understand that what you conveniently leave out is lying by omission.)
She has caused Wooten's life to be threatened and has demonized him on a national level. She has caused President Elect Obama's life to be threatend and demonized HIM on a national level as well. The Personnel Board that she "owns" took her word at face value over that of a long respected and TRUSTED law enforcement officer, Walt Monegan, while refusing a face to face deposition ( and thus being subjected to follow up questions) by the Legislative Council's investigator. Sue Her, Sue Todd, Sue Colberg and sue The State AND THE PERSONNEL BOARD!

Sounds to me like a lot of low life's are getting a chance to get away with cop-bashing --what's the matter fellas were the cuffs on too tight the last time you were arrested? Did you get treated roughly the last time a Trooper was called to your house cause you beat your wife bloody? Still angry over the cop who challenged your manhood when your daughter said you had been molesting her? Tired of registering as a sex offender or having your urine sampled cause you'r still on probation? You say Wooten has other complaints? Well share the news Ok & tell us how you know? Wouldn't be spreading rumors right? Years now & even Palin can't come up with new complaints or threats ! ! !

In ADN today, comments section under this article, there is a trend with many people understanding Palin now has a NATIONAL REPUTATION AS A LIAR AND that it is she and not Walt Monegan who lied under oath. This is causing many to rethink Wooten's position. Yes, he IS a victim of this sick woman and has been demonized NATIONALLY BY HERE WHEN HE IS TRYING TO HAVE CUSTODY AND CONTACT WITH HIS CHILDREN. I doubt many would hold it together as he has with Palin as an enemy. There is some talk that Palin's anger is not just to protect her sister--who remains mute thru all this--but that perhaps she and Wooten had a tryst or perhaps he turned her down. Palin is taking this far more personally it seems than Molly, the ex-wife.

Wooten is as much a victim here as Monegan, Bittney, Lyda Green, the Wasilla Librarian, John McCain, Trig, Bristol, Palin's mayoral mentor years back etc etc.

This evil woman leaves a "trail of tears" whereever she goes.

IMPEACH HER, RECALL HER, drive a stake through her heart, replace her lip gloss with glue---strip her and leave her naked in the woods with wolves, polar bears and angry moose.

  11. Unfortunately, "Troopergate" has become national sensation.
Perhaps it is the price this state, and a few individuals, have to pay for our governors willingness to step into the national spotlight.
Let the facts be shown! If this trooper acted outside of the law, then let our system investigate and hand judgment down.
His prior charges have been weighed and judged. That should be the end.
I do not always agree with the actions of our states troopers, but I do respect and admire their daily willingness to protect the public.
It seems shameful, that we Alaskans have allowed this inner turmoil to fester into a matter that the national media can spin.
That said; if I get pulled over, then I will do what I am required to do. I will do it with respect and the knowledge that, even if I disagree with the reason, I must act as a law abiding citizen.
The court will decide if I was detained or ticketed justly.
    Why?
The trooper that decided I should be ticketed or detained is doing a job that many of us would never do.
Law enforcement professionals put their lives in harms way daily. Not for the money; simply because it needs to be done.
Alaskans: stand up and tell the nation to shag off! This is our problem not theirs and certainly not theirs to judge.
    Peace ya'll
