Republican candidates say "Thanks, but no thanks" to campaign assistance from Sarah Palin. Oooh that's got to hurt!

Republicans facing tough elections in 2010 don’t want Sarah Palin campaigning with them.

(The "Twitter Quitter"? No thanks I have enough problems.)

Though the soon-to-be-former Alaska governor is seen as popular with the conservative grass roots, several Republicans said she’d help them by staying home in Wasilla.

Several of these Republicans hail from districts or states carried in 2008 by President Obama, a frequent target of Palin’s criticism. Republicans must keep these districts and win others where Obama is popular if they are to gain seats next year.

GOP Rep. Lee Terry (Neb.), who squeaked out a victory despite his district’s overwhelming turnout for Obama, said he’d rather have House colleagues campaign for him than Palin.

“There’s others that I would have come in and campaign and most of them would be my colleagues in the House,” Terry said.Rep. Frank Wolf, a Republican from Northern Virginia, which is increasingly becoming Democratic territory, offered caution when asked whether he’d welcome a Palin fundraiser.

“I don’t generally need people from outside my district to do a fundraiser,” Wolf said.

Several other lawmakers indicated a wariness about accepting help from Palin, but did not want to criticize the GOP’s vice presidential candidate from last year. They said Palin could hurt them by firing up Democrats.

(Gee ya think?)

An unnamed GOP lawmaker representing a district that Obama carried in 2008 told The Hill that if Palin came into his district, his opponent would “probably be doing a dance of joy.”

Whenever I think of a dance for joy I think of Snoopy. And I have no doubt that this "unnamed lawmaker's" opponent would look very much like this if he thought Sarah Palin was coming to "help" his adversary.

So if Palin cannot "support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the RIGHT reasons" as she claimed she wanted to in her resignation speech, then just WHAT is she planning to do?

Is Levi Johnston right about it being all about the money?

Highly doubtful

Or is my friend Leah L. Burton closer to the truth when she talks about Palin and Christian Political Dominionism?

Or is all of this a bunch of bullshit and the truth simply that she is aware of the impending investigations that would have derailed her career and wanted to get out in front of them?

I am still firmly in this last camp. EVERYTHING I have heard leads me to believe she is REACTING to something rather than planning to DO something.

But one thing is for sure. She is certainly NOT going to be able to revitalize the Republican party. And anybody who thinks she can has been living under a rock for the last four months.

Gryphen, I am with you! She didn't like the responsibilty of being gov, but she liked the prestige and all the "other perks" from being gov not to mention POWER! She would of never left that if she didn't HAVE too!
The other red naughty monkey is gonna drop!

  3. Can Sarah really revitalize a dead fish called the republican party? According to Sarah, all dead fish go with the flow and from what I've noticed over the past 6 months of President Obama, the right wingers want to stick to George Bush's status quo! *sigh* I bet Sarah will first start the revitalization process by putting lipstick on the dead fish.

So I'm reading comments at C4P this am, and come across something that literally made me pee my own pajama pants. My sides hurt from laughing so hard. My cheeks are stained with humorous tears.
Here goes, don't have anything in your mouth.

    Bill in Baltimore said...
The funniest thing happened last night . . . I had a dream that was eerily similar to a dream from the previous night . . . so I guess you could say it was a recurring dream.

(if you've read the first dream, the updates are in bold)

    Here's the dream:

Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Fred and Jerri Thompson, and Rudy Guliani got on a plane to the Reagan Ranch, they left on August 5 and requested a meeting with Sarah Palin.

In that meeting, they said to SP
"we need to take back this country, and we're willing to sacrifice our own personal goals for the goals of the country.

"we're sorry what this nation has done to you, and we will do whatever it takes to fix this country

"we will support you if you wish to run for President, and we will not let you down

"Huck here, he's got the evangelicals

"Mitt here, he's got the business people

    "Fred here, he's got Hollywood

"Jerri, she's got the women. She said she's got a few others willing to help too.

    "Rudy, he's got NYC

At that point, Sarah Palin left the room to be alone for a moment. She was not able to hold back the tears. She got down on her knees, praised God, then repented of her sins, and then thanked God for all that he had done.

    * * * * Update * * *
Todd came into the room and put his arm around Sarah. He said "Wow, why did they all fly out here today?"

Sarah said, "Todd, it looks like the Lord has chosen me. I told Him I would go where he leads me, and now these honorable men are here to support me. What do you think?

Todd then said, "Well, what is your heart saying?"

Sarah said, "I cannot believe I have been brought here for such a time as this. But if these men are willing to back me, I'm willing to serve Him now for this nation."

At that point Todd said, "Sarah, let's pray".

They both got down on their knees and Todd prayed: "Thank you Lord for all that you've done and are about to do."

Then Sarah got up, wiped away her tears, freshened up the lipstick, re-entered the room and said.

    "Hell yeah, let's roll".

A day later, Newt Gingrich and Haly Barbor (sp) found out what was going on, flew out to Calif on Aug 7, and met with Sarah and said Newt said

"we're with you too. We checked our egos at the door and want to do whatever it takes to take back this country. We support you."

Haley Barbor (sp) nodded his head in comforting agreement.
    * * * * End of Update * * *

    end of recurring dream

And that, my friends, if true, would spell the end of Barack Obama and his agenda, on August 8, 2009, less than one year after SP was introduced to the nation.

He would be a 3-year and 5 month lame duck president.

Seriously, what is wrong with this dream?

If this dream does not come true and SP takes a traditional path to POTUS, then as her sister in Christ, I do not recommend that she run for POTUS.

    Who are these people? Hahahahahaha

I agree with Levi: I think she's simply trading in all of the votes and campaign money you Alaskans gave her for her own financial gain.

She's stepping over what she considers to be the dead body of Alaskan politics to pick up her check.

SO are they dreaming of overthrowing the government and placing SisterSarah at the head? As if any of these men would step aside for her or even the good of the country. This is about power and egos and nothing to do with the welfare of our nation. It's about Party Power and they have these sheeple so brainwashed they are coming up with elaborate fantasies so they don't have to face reality.

In any given year, there are 50 governors, 100 senators, and more influential people in government (think Secretary of State, Defense, Treasury, and so on). Never in all my years did I hear of any one of them quitting in the middle of their term to go out there and make money. Sure, plenty of them cash in after they leave office. The operative words here - after they leave office - they line up book deals, speaking tours, TV appearances. Huckabee and Scarborough have moved on to TV.

Attention people in Alaska: Sarah should not be entitled to the normal benefits that a governor would receive upon leaving office. She quit! And, if you strip her of those perks, she will finally be able to live up to her resignation speech: She will get a chance to save you money!

  8. Gryphen there is an article about Shannyn in Forbes magazine online today!! I am sorry I can't post the link because I can't cut and paste with my Ipod. It us a great article! Try googling under Google News for Forbes Shannyn Moore Palin.

Sorry if this has been posted already.

Someone yesterday posted a story in the Alaskan Dispatch about Sarah that is excellent! I wish the MSM had this info and I don't know why they don't. I am going to send it around. Gryphen do you have Twitter? Hope you get it!

  10. Oh, yeah, I can see Fred Thompson being some kind of activist. NOT! He's the most boring man in California. I'm surprised he hasn't been drummed out of Hollywood already for being such a right-wing dullard.

The progressive/liberal SAG members in LA would make mincemeat of him in any head-to-head confrontation or dueling interviews.

Hayley Barbour? Old fat Southern good' ol boy. Newt Gingrich? The sleazier the past, the more they like 'em, I guess. This guy IS dreaming if he thinks Romney and Huckabee would team up together, and delusional if he thinks they would sublimate their own dreams and goals to those of a ditz like Sarah Palin.

I'm surprised this "dream" didn't include Michele Bachmann.

I am in the 'she is reacting' camp.
Last summer I met her briefly at the Governor's Picnic in Fairbanks.
That was while Troopergate was BIG news. Obviously didn't faze her a bit. Remember being impressed by how collected she was.
None of her Gates so far seem to have fazed her much.

But at her 'I wont say the word but i am resigning' press conference she looked like a lost child alone on a big beach with a huge tsunami about
to crash down on her. The rest of us can't see the tsunami yet, all we can see is the water all sucked away from the shoreline . . . but she can see it. I think it is personal and salacious and under the radar. Forget HouseGate and BabyGate and all of those, she has lived with them for a long time already. What about the rumors that she was seen leaving the last Governor's conference in the company of Mark Sanford ? She would be such easy pickin's for a serial international philanderer like him.

And that would bring her 'good Christian woman' persona down in a way not even Babygate could.

  13. well, if Palin is all about the money at this point, at least she's not still trying to be a politician (as opposed to staying in office to get rich)

  14. rumor only from BradBlog:

“Palin is about to be indicted for insurance fraud. She is not the mother of Baby Trig; but claimed the maternity benefits for his birth. ”

  15. I wouldn't discount Levi's statement so quickly. Both reasons can be valid. Of course Levi heard Palin talking about money, that makes perfect sense, then something else happened and Palin realized that she had to resign to take advantage of all the money being offered before the hammer or whatever hit. I don't believe money is the only reason she quit, but it was a factor, therefore Levi is correct and oh, its so delicious that Levi will enrage Sarah even more.
What if Sherrie has said she is going to spill the beans when she gets out of jail on the 27th?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't think Sherie is going to spill the beans if Levi isn't willing to do that. She would lose her son. The renegade daughter is the best hope for that.

But funny thing is, even though many of us think it's really a big important thing to expose Palin's pregnancy lie, I'm beginning to think that most people just really don't care.

What I'm saying is that even if Mercedes spills the beans maybe hardly anyone will care.

SarahQ: As long she does a reality show or something else that convinces me she won't ever be in the White House, I would no longer care whose babies are whose or anything else about this woman.

But until I am sure, keeping the pressure on her is the best way to force her to do or say something that will end this misery for all of us for good!

Saint "Quitter" Sarah and her worshippers are like the Pharisees and the Sadducees of the day. They may think that they are doing God's work but, Jesus will rebuke them too, also.
I've said it before but, Sarah is no more than a False Prophet like Jim Jones, Charles Manson, & David Koresh.
And her followers will not believe anything other than what comes out of her mouth.
Sure wish that they would just build themselves a little compound somewhere to freely worship Sarah and NOT have them force HER will on to others.

  19. I know Democrats in Virginia would be doing the Snoopy dance if Sarah Palin came down here to stump for McDonnell, the GOP candidate for governor. She is a democratic fundraiser's wet dream. Here in the Northern Virginia, people still ride around with Obama 08, and Obama/Biden bumper stickers on their cards. Obama got over 60% of the vote here, and people still remember all the hate and division the McCain/Palin campaign stirred up in our state. I say bring her on...she will help the Democratic candidate, and millions will pour in for his campaign.

Virginia Voter, you are right about Northern Virginia if Palin campaigned there. I have family just south of Richmond, however, and they still adore Princess Sarah. They went to the Richmond Speedway in October to see her along with over 30,000 other people. I could see her campaigning downstate.

The governor, Rick Perry aka Governor Good Hair, is waiting eagerly for Sarah to stump for him. I am hoping she drives most people to the Democratic nominee, whoever that ends up being, or even to Kay Bailey Hutchison, even though she is a Republicant. Anyone would be better than Perry, who only got 39% of the votes in our last gubernatorial election.

Maybe if we are really lucky, Sarah will be indicted before she makes it back to Texas. If Trig truly is her biological child, why weren't the Dallas hospitals good enough for her to go for at least an examination that day? Oh, right, they have doctors and nurses smart enought to know when a woman is NOT pregnant. Padded tummies don't fool them for long.
