And another thing, I think that President Obama should immediately make Rachel Maddow his spokesperson to explain the health care plan to the American people and to confront the GOP spin doctors when they try to lie to our citizens.
She is probably the most articulate person we have on this issue with the possible exception of the President himself.
This was the first time I have watched Meet the Press since David Gregory has taken over the show and I have to say I was VERY disappointed. MTP was my go to program on Sunday mornings for at least the last seven years, but when Tim died I simply could not accept Gregory in that role.
And I have to say that if Russert were alive today he would have made mincemeat out of Dick Armey and Senator Coburn. No question about it.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. MTP is no longer the program to go to. Tim would have made mincemeat out of those two losers. Gregory just doesn't cut it. He just rolled over and allowed Armey & Coburn to dominate the conversation. I know Rachel was as frustrated as I was when she wasn't even allowed to make a point without them rolling over her. She definitely would make an awesome host of the show. Lawrence O'Donnell would also make a much better host than Gregory.

Since I don't get MSNBC, I only discovered Rachel a few months ago online. Now I check out her show every day. She's smart, articulate and always well prepared. She's also tough but not in a rude or disrespectful way. I was not impressed this morning when I watched MTP, and agree with Kat that Rachel or Lawrence O'Donnell would be better hosts than Gregory. It makes me crazy when people like Armey are allowed to lie on camera without being called on it. Tim Russert would never have allowed him to get away with it.
ReplyDeleteI missed Sunday School to watch this morning... that's how excited I was to see Rachel go toe to toe with Dick Armey... and I was not disappointed. And yes, SJK, Dick was too tan, even for a Texan. Good Lord, he'd at least have a HAT TAN if he were a real Texan!
ReplyDeleteWhen she got to speak, Rachel was amazing. I was also impressed with Tom Daschle's articulation & command of the facts. He and Rachel were clear & calm, while Dick was LITERALLY wringing his hands by his face & telling medical horror stories in mock hysteria. What a crock!
Why was Dick smiling and laughing when he was talking about a guy contacting him about $21K in medical debt?? Everyone please contact your democratic senators and congressmen/women and tell them to support the president!
ReplyDeleteWasn't Rachel great!?! I was so amazed at the way she tried to put the Dick in his place. But of course, they kept trying to talk over her and interrupting her. But Armey had a red face during the entire show. Probably because most people in the news won't ever call him out the way Rachel did.

Rachel Madcow has no credability with the majority of America, the 800,000 viewrs she gets on MSNBC are about the only people who actually believe the silliness this gal puts out nightly. Armey is right on the money with the media fabricated swine flu garbage, it is being done for the weakminded porgressives who fall for this type of hype. Americans don't believe it.
