With thumbs a flying, Palin Tweets arrogance and ignorance out to the world.

from TwitterBerry

Sarah Palin's father is a science teacher yet she seems blissfully unaware of the devastating impact man has had on this planet. Perhaps he could take a moment to explain Holocene extinction to her.

Of course man can alter natural change! Does Sarah believe that it is natural for 13 million hectares of forest to be cut down each year? Or is it natural that more than one fifth of the world's coral reef has been destroyed? Does she have any idea what those losses mean to the sustainability of life on our our planet? No of course not. That requires thinking, which is not Sarah Palin's strong suit.

We are seeing the evidence of our negative impact on this planet in real time, and yet many refuse to acknowledge that it is happening. Sarah Palin is just the most visible example of that willful ignorance.

Sarah uses the words "arrogance" and "naive" to make her point, which is ironic since those are the EXACT words I would use to describe her attitude toward Climate Change.

This confirms that fact that Sarah is incapable of meaningful communication or thought. The word juvenile is too mature for her. Even if Sarah had something important to say, when it gets reduced to 140 characters and abbreviations, it's gibberish.

  2. Gryphen:(since you are in AK) Is there any way you could meet up with Wasilla resident Philip Munger ... he is the guy who said he had a conversation with Sarah about dinosaurs and human co-existing AND that Sarah had 'seen' dinosaur footprints w/ human footprints inside them ..

This is an important 'story' illutrating Sarah's lack of 'real' knowledge about basic facts, and it's been lost in the 'sea of nonsense' about Palin.

A good solid interview with this man would be a good thing to have 'on the record' ...

    just a thought!

  10. I thought she was arguing that Copenhagen is "arrogant," because, she thinks, it is an attempt to alter a natural process. As though global warming is entirely a natural process ("but cant altr naturl chng"). So, I thought that she is finally denying that human activity can alter the environment.

Your take on it is just as valid.

Too bad more than the US will pay for your stupidity.

Sarah can't have it both ways. She can't say the earth is 6000 years old and then write about change over eons. An eon, by definition, is 500 million years. So which is it Sarah? Someone needs to trap her on this one.

It's time for our geology lesson. In trying to keep track of Earth's history, geologists count 4 eons which are divided into many eras, such as paleozoic, mesozoic eras for example. The eras are divided into smaller units, for example the mesozoic era consists of periods, such as the jurassic period.

I am not picking hard stuff here; many people saw the movie, Jurassic Park and love dinasours. Counting up all four of the eons, all of the eras and periods, the Earth is estimated to be 4.570 billion years old.

When Sarah wrote that change has been going on for eons (all four of them), then she must be counting the Earth's 4.570 billion year history, as opposed to that erroneous 6 million one that she formerly believe in. You can't count all of the eons without it adding up to billions and billions of years.

Darn right! Changes have been going on. There have been earthquakes. Volcanic eruptions blacked out the skies and dropped Earth's temerature a few degrees, causing many catostrophic events. Meteors have hit the Earth (have you seen Crater Lake in Arizona?).

But we don't help, and we may be adding to the problem. Has anyone been someplace that had a smog alert day? I remember one in Los Angeles where you could not stay outside without coughing. In the industrialized parts of China, the air is brown and choked with pollutants. Mexico City has smog alerts that are so serious that kids are warned to stay home form school. Only half the cars are allow on the road during a smog alert. Did we have those kind of smog problems before the industrial revolution and the burning of fossil fuels? Did the Roman Senate, 2000 years ago, declare a smog alert? (Doubt it).

We can have should have a reasoned discussion about man's impact on global warming. And, it should not be limited to a quick 140 characters. And, Sarah should stop using big words like "ions" (charged particles) and "eons" (a long period of time in Earth's history) if she does not know how to use them properly. I thought that a course in journalism would teach fact-checking (opposition research).

If Sarah doesn't believe that humans can alter Nature she might want to look into the earthquakes ( 2.8 - 3.5) that have been happening in Texas as a result of the drilling in the Barnett gas field near Dallas.

Aug. 14 (Bloomberg) -- Chesapeake Energy Corp. wells drilled through the Barnett Shale, the biggest Texas natural-gas field, may have caused earthquakes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the company and university scientists said.

Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake shut both wells, used to dispose of saltwater that is a byproduct of gas production, as a precaution after university seismologists told executives June 29 that the center of some quakes lay near the base of one of the wells, Steven Turk, vice president of the company’s southern operations, said in an interview.

The wells were drilled as part of Chesapeake’s exploration in the Barnett Shale, a band of rock under Texas that accounts for about 5 percent of U.S. natural-gas output. Both were drilled near known geological faults, or breaks in the underground rock, the company said.

“There is a relationship,” Cliff Frohlich, senior research scientist and associate director of the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics, said in an interview. “We have not proven it with scientific certainty, but we’re looking at these as induced earthquakes.”

The well scientists linked to the minor quakes was drilled on the south end of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, the world’s third-busiest. Studies of the second well and a possible link are continuing. The airport tremors and the base of the disposal wells are twice as deep as wells that produce gas from the shale layer itself.

This article on Bloomberg.com states that drilling caused earthquakes in Texas in 1978 and 1993.

  50. Anon @ 11:05 AM, about 10 years ago my husband and I took a cruise from Ft. Lauderdale through the Panama Canal and disembarked at Acapulco, MX.

When we flew out of Acapulco en route to Houston where we had to change planes, we flew over Mexico City -- which has a similar valley-surrounded-by-mountains geography to Los Angeles.

The one day we spent in Acapulco we could see a haze over that city, and in flight, we could see that the haze extended from the coast inland, was heaviest over Mexico City, and extended northwards to the USA/Mexico border. It's a wonder anyone in the entire country could breathe.

Surely Mexico City has done something to improve air quality in the 10 years since. I would hope!

Perhaps someone should ask Sarah exactly what she thinks "stewardship" of the earth means in terms of caring for God's gifts. Does God expect us to use up his gifts as man is now doing, and destroying and laying waste to vast areas of his gift?

Of course we already know what her version of "stewarship" is by how she behaved last spring and summer as Governor, and by how she cares for her children - one's a crook, one's an easy lay, two are continually kept our of school, one needs glasses, hearing aide, physical and mental developental training, and a pair of shoes. Not to mention a baby sitter who is older and more mature than the average 3 grader, who should be in school, also too.

Can a Good Christian like Sarah who believes that the Earth is only 6,000 year old practice and understand good science? With the snow coming down, it's time for a story. (This was part a biology lecture when I went to university).

Seems that a very religious science teacher in England used his students to help him collect fossils. He pointed to the fossils - a leaf or shell trapped and preserved in mud, then turned to stone as an example of God's handiwork.

"You see," he explained, "God no longer makes these forms. They were mistakes, and He threw away the mould so that he would not repeat the error."

One student, annoyed at having to carry the heavy fossils for the professor decided to turn the tables and teach the professor a lesson. Since the fossils were "God's rejects," he found an artistic student to carve an exact likeness of the professor in a rock, then he planted the new "fossil" where the professor would be sure to discover it. God's mistake indeed!

The moral of the story is this: Sarah, if you don't know what you're talking about (that includes typing, twittering, and posting), then do us all a favor, shut up and sit down (or is it sit down and shut up?) At least, do it for the troops.

  70. What Sister Sarah says has nothing to do with what's right or wrong, true or false, or even what she believes in. I don't think she really believes in anything except elevating herself politically.

While she's certainly no intellect, she knows what to say to stir up the Palinbots and that gives her the attention and adoration she needs to make herself feel important. She says what they want to hear, regardless of its validity or truthfulness, or even if it's consistent with any prior stances she's taken. The immediate response she gets from both sides is like crack to her. She's addicted to it.

I think she is, at her core, very unhappy with who she is. It doesn't sound like her marriage is very happy or even stable. She doesn't appear to be very interested in being a mother. She has no job. She has no interest in Wasilla or even the state of Alaska. She considers herself bigger than all these things and believed with all her heart that she was going to be the Vice President, and then President, of the United States.

But that didn't happen, thankfully. And what is she left with? NOTHING. Nothing except her monstrous ego. She has to feed it somehow, and Facebook and Twitter are perfect because there's no back and forth discussion involved.

She's pathetic and desperate and a coward.

The first items that comes up is his certificate of death. The second item I came across was his graduation photo, wearing black & purple robe(it is posted sideways). If you sign up with them, then you will be able to retreive more details. Hope this helps.

I suspect that the Bitter Twitter may have been reading up on ions on climate change denier Doug Hoffmann's website: http://www.theresilientearth.com/?q=content/attempt-discredit-cosmic-ray-climate-link-using-computer-model

If she uses the term "resilient" in future tweets my hypothesis will not be confirmed, but it will seem more likely.

It is possible to go to Google Books and look up Trailblazer, an earlier biography of Sarah Palin written by Lorenzo Bennet.

If you enter Curtis Menard's name in search, they will direct you to any page where his name appears. He and Sarah went to school together, and she had a crush on Curtis. In fact, she had hoped to marry him, but Sarah was broken hearted when she learned that Curtis had asked another girl to go steady with him.

Cheryl Welch described Sarah's emotional response to this scene of teen aged heart break. In "Trailblazer," Welch remember's Sarah's envy. And, Welch also described how Sarah hated to lose on the basketball court, breaking down and crying at a loss. Welch also describes the "Sarah Barracuda" nickname, saying that Sarah was very competitive without balance in her life.

The book will also direct you to pages 114-116 which describe how Curtis Menard died in an airplane accident. His funeral was held at the Wasilla Assembly of God.

  82. Just posted at www.adn.com re: A story about Sarah's upcoming book signing!

    AH Wasilla!

In the past year, those of us watching Sarah Palin have made fun of Wasilla too, and that probably was unfair ... or maybe not. This book signing should give us a good idea of what, exactly, the people of Wasilla think of Sarah!

I say this because the impression we get is of a small town, where everyone knows everyone else, and no matter what, the townspeople have circled the wagons around Sarah. Maybe she IS being protected, or maybe there isn`t much to tell.

Someone below said ``Maybe for a change, real investigative journalists will cover such an event.``

I don`t know about real investigative journalists, but I do know this: there will be a few eagle-eyed, discreet local bloggers there! (wink!)

I can`t wait to read their first hand report on Sarah`s appearance AND the reception she receives in the town that `loves her`so much!

    Dear Sarah Peabrain:

What will we do without you keeping an eye on Russia?

A nuclear war between the United States and Russia today could produce nuclear winter, with temperatures plunging below freezing in the summer in major agricultural regions, threatening the food supply for most of the planet. The climatic effects of the smoke from burning cities and industrial areas would last for several years... wikipedia

Was that whole cold-war thingy a hoax?

    WTF Peabrain?

  84. Books: I was at Target earlier today, and spotted her ghostwriter's book. It was down on the very bottom shelf.

I could not resist---I not only turned them facing backwards, I put other books over them.

Then I saw Glen Beck's trash, and did the same with it.

    I know...childish behavior....but I enjoyed it! :)

Her father teaches? People actually trust this guy around their kids? Well, there you go!

She'll probably blame it on being in the sun too long, jet lag, wiping her drool off the keyboard, the papparazzi and the main stream media. Now I know why we're in trouble, all this time she's had her eon Russia.

Sarah Palin is ALL thumbs when left up to her own PR!

"Megamouth, oh Megamouth, oh wherefore art thou, Megamouth? Please quit quivering under the bus! I wasn't really going to chain you there, drive over a few running creek beds and gravel piles, then spray rubbing alcohol & pepper spray all over you! I was just kidding, dear! Also, too - I was joshin' ya about the poison oak and arsenic!"
