Countdown sends author Chris Rodda to college. Well not college exactly but rather Glenn Beck's online stupidity factory called Beck U. Cost of Beck U online course? $79.00. Chance to reveal lies and deceptions passed off as an education? Priceless!

I saw in my comments that somebody wanted to know why I had not posted anything all day today.

Well if you must know I spent the whole day in Wasilla interviewing sources.

What? You think these posts just write themselves?

  5. Gryphen,

If my comment offended you, please accept my most sincere apologies. I didn't mean to imply that you were slacking off. I know that you work very hard to produce this blog.

    Again, I meant no offense.

Good for you, Gryphen, so glad you are not giving up - not that you would, but still, it's nice to know you are actively researching she-who-I-cannot-stand-to-name.

Glenn Beck is not only an idiot, he is a snake oil salesman selling false information to the gullible, stupid, and lazy.

His "professors" are shills for the right-wing. I hope real scholars debunk this miserable sham in more depth.

  7. No offense taken abirato.

I was just being a little sarcastic. Don't mind me I am just a little tired.

I did not take your remarks as negative.

glad to hear it gryphen. I am getting pretty weary.

I predict beck u will ultimately be a flop. what is anyone going to "learn" there that he hasn't already stated on his show - for free?

Well, I know how the guy feels, Gryphen. I go through withdrawals also, too, when I check your blog (much too often I'm sure) and don't find anything new. One can only assume you have a life apart from us. What???????

  12. One wonders where they got $79.00 as a price point. It's not like this online University costs anything (or is worth anything for that matter.)

Would $29.95 be too obvious as to the worth of what you're getting?

Or did they figure they could get $79.00 out of their target dupes but anything over that they'd lose market?

And exactly what it the money being used for? To line Beck's pockets? Or is it being donated to the Teabaggers or any political candidate or cause that is Beck's latest harp?

I did what the idiot guest lecturer at Beck U said to do, I googled Declaration of Independence 27 grievances. The religious nut said that since these grievances were said in church, they were therefore religious. Sorry, but in those days the church was not only a religious institution, it was the town hall, and tax collectors came to the church to collect taxes.

About those grievances, which are supposed to be the religious basis of forming the United States:
a number of them have to do with laws, or taxes. One important complaint is that King George III maintained a standing army in the colony during a time of peace (and they objected to this). Do you see anything religious about that?
Other complaints include the fact that there was no trial by jury, or that they could be thrown into a British ship, and hauled back to England to stand trial. Nothing religious about that either. In the list of 27 grievances against the King, there is nothing about his imposing a state religion on all, regardless of what religion they wanted to practice (a reason why some did leave England).

Glenn Beck is a big fat fraud.

  14. FEDUP!!!9:45 PM

Well, Gryphen: PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE get the meat out there ASAP! I am on other blogs also, too, from all over the country, and believe me, THERE ARE TONS of people who cannot wait for their 'savior', $P, to run and get in power! They think she is the best thing since sliced bread and that she is soooooo smart and patritotic - it simply makes me SICK. Nothing I say can convince them otherwise. They think she has common sense, and will be the salvation to all our economic and other problems!

Agreed, Fedup. I do sneak over to the sea of pee once in awhile, and am watching them gleefully chortle at $arah's facebook numbers going up. And they're going up alarmingly rapidly! This is a RED ALERT. I remember just a couple of months ago, the idea started to float around about a POTUS run. I laughed hysterically. I'm NOT laughing now! Gryph..please, please do whatever you can (even tho we all know you already are) to break some kind of huge story and GET IT TO THE MSM.

'1,830,689 People Like This' = number on aoO's (alice of Oz) fb pg when I ventured there this morning. I have noticed, today and previously, when I went to aoO's page, that the list of fans' names seem curiously scripted/ manufactured -- perhaps copied from phone books.

A small group of fans could (with dedication and zeal) easily write the mostly very short notes (also too seemingly scripted/ manufactured), to be then interspersed with 'rill' notes from her 1,830,689 adoring fans.

It's all 'rill' to those who would fall in love with aoO.

  20. I almost forgot!! Any curse worth flinging deserves an appropriate hand gesture.

So to forcefully accompany your insult--Beck U!--raise your left fist and extend the pinky finger. Pinky finger? Yeah, the one that balances the teacup!

I attended that first class but had to leave early for football practice. I'm the starting quarterback on the Beck U online football team. It's like a dream come true. Even got a virtual girlfriend cheerleader.
