From Media Matters:
Perhaps Christine O'Donnell isn't yet ready for prime time -- on the networks or on Fox. As we noted this morning, CBS' Bob Schieffer tweeted that the controversial Republican Senate candidate has backed out of her planned Sunday interview on Face the Nation. Well, the Associated Press reported around noon today that O'Donnell has gone ahead and also cancelled her scheduled Sunday appearance on Fox News Sunday.
And that boys and girls is how a "Mama Grizzly" handles the "Lamestream media."
By running away and hiding in the woods.
This hits the nail on the head..
ReplyDeleteThe Tea Party isn't a political governance movement. It is a White traditionalist reactionary protest movement. They have plenty to protest about. The end of the White majority is coming at a time when liberal Humanist academics have been assaulting the White race, its history, character and traditions. Since Whites aren't allowed to defend their race without charges of bigotry, the Tea Party has been inarticulate about the matter and often appear racist. No other race would be expected to bear in silence the left wing assault on their culture or having their childhood historical heroes dragged through the gutter.
The future of most members of the Tea Party has faded considerably in recent years. They have many legitimate grievances and issues.
Still, they are a temporary movement. They are at maximum growth. The country is losing older White people faster than she is making them. The historic costumes, flags and slogans tell the story.
The Tea Party wants to go back-to-the future. They are protesting their powerlessness at being disempowered and replaced. They are protesting the disrespect with which liberal Humanists treat their history and culture. The American event can't turn back. Han Lo Fong and Jesus Garcia and Saul Lipski in 2010 can't be Beaver, Wally and Ward Cleaver returned to 1955. The Tea Party is not the wave of the future; it's the wave of the past.
The lack of long term planning other than "shrink government" "lower taxes" and a handfull of slogans shows that there is no Tea Party plan or structure for governance. They may get one wish and end up as a stone wall in front of the runaway Obama Toyota, but other than altering histroric documents they don't offer much.
After 400 years, this is probably the last gasp of the White traditionalists. It isn't politics or principles that decide this one in the long run. It's demographics. Demographics say that it is impossible for this to be a lasting or growing movement. Every day Democrats go to baby showers while Republicans go to funerals.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/09/christine-odonnell-i-dabbled-i.html
Did you see the clip from Bill Mahr on Politically Incorrect where Christine says she dabbled in Witchcraft ?He says every day she doesn't do his show he will show another clip of her comments on his old show.He says she was on his show over 20 times! Poor Christine.maybe she should diddle instead of dabble.
ReplyDeleteThere is a reason the crazies like Palin and O'Donnell avoid the media like the plague.
ReplyDeleteHeyzoos cristos, she hasn't even started yet and already she is a QUITTER!!!
ReplyDeleteDid Sarah have a daughter at a very early age that we didn't know about???
@ Erica from Texas: Yes! I'm so glad Gryphen posted that video!
ReplyDeleteI think Christine's ship is already sinking. Too bad, so sad.
I love Bill Maher ♥
This isn't post-related per se, but I'm a longtime reader and was wondering, is anyone else in LA? I'm here and decided I want to protest outside of DWTS (assuming I can get out of work, need to figure out when the taping is).
ReplyDeleteAnyone else is thinking the same thing...? Maybe even a Trig truther poster? I've convinced my boyfriend that Trig isn't SP's, but he's drawn the line at going to the protest : )
What a wuss. These women think they are such badasses yet they hide behind the "Vagina Card". Insult the male masculinity and then say, "oh, I'm just a little girl, how could you be so mean to poor little 'ol me".
ReplyDeleteThey are pathetic and weak. I admire women like Pelosi and Maddow who aren't afraid to speak the truth or answer tough questions. Palin, Angle, O'Donnel all team players in powder puff politics.
Mama Grizzly MY ASS. More like mama marshmallow.
Apparently the "fearless" mama grizzlies are actually quite cowardly.
ReplyDeleteIs that blood under her finger nails?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fascinating post Anon. 11:12. Unfortunately people wearing tea party lenses don't like to remember the really horrendous parts of history — the arrogance, the sad reality that manifest destiny was a racist policy. It depended on lack of respect for whole cultures so they could be more easily eliminated without conscience. Missionaries have done more harm than good in some parts of the world and we all are diminished because of this. As soon as we realize we are all part of the human experience the better off we will be.
ReplyDeleteNext week, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) will ask the Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss to open a criminal investigation into Christine O'Donnell's abuse of campaign funds. We'll also ask the Federal Election Commission to look into the matter.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.citizensforethics.org/
I don't think it's so much following the chillbilly's advice as it is seeing herself mangled by her own words on past video clips.
ReplyDeleteShe went on the morning shows and did plan doing others. But, hey, she got asked questions about herself she didn't like and tried to bluff off. Didn't work, can't work. O'Donnell spent so much face time on tv selling herself and her intolerance that it's all coming back to bite her right in her political ass.
That and the fact that her problems of the last few years appear to be also self-created and she has no valid explanation for them. Voters have a right to know about the people asking to be elected and people like O'Donnell and Sarah are finding out that you can only LIE to the public for so long.
Erica from Texas has the reason COD bailed out-she didn't want to answer any "I was a teenage devil-worshipper" questions.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it more or less a prerequisite for political candidates to be questioned about their platforms by members of the 4th. estate? I don't understand how these scaredy cat folks running for office can expect to be elected if they don't have the intestinal fortitude to meet the press for face-to-face interviews where they can be asked the questions that the voters want answered and to clarify and defend their policies.
ReplyDeleteWhere is all this cowardly behavior coming from?
Regarding 11:12's comments. What in the world do white folks have to complain about? Try reading "White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack." What are white people "owed" that others are not? I suspect that whites fear what might happen to them as minorities. Maybe they're concerned about those old chickens coming home to roost.
ReplyDeleteApparently now SP is tweeting that she did NOT tell COD to only speak with Fox. Yeah, whatever SP. Because we know that we see YOU all over giving news interviews to CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, the Comedy Channel, your local affiliates.....what? OH, that's right, SP. You are AFRAID to talk to anyone but Fox. As well you should be, you idiot twit.
ReplyDeleteAs a person of color, the biggest problem I have with the tea party members is their idea that someone is out to get them. As far as I know, none of us African Americans are seeking to takeover anything, abuse anyone, or impose our will on anyone. This is something that really bothers me about some of the tea party members. I have never assaulted the white race, its history, character and/or traditions. In fact, I observe the same American traditions as members of the tea party: Christmas, Easter, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, as did my parents, and I'm a Christian to boot!
ReplyDeleteIt makes no sense to me for some of the tea party members to say their culture is being assaulted and they have a fear of "brown" people. I have had biracial second cousins since the 1960s when one of my first cousins met and married a nurse named Molly in Michigan, and my daughter is engaged to a very nice white guy she plans to marry within the next year. I point these things out because there are millions of African Americans and other people of color who have no hatred toward white people, and who have a long history of interracial marriages and rearing biracial offspring. I can recall having a young white woman living in my neighborhood with her African American boyfriend back in the 1960s. We accepted her as part of the community and knew that members of her own community would not have been as generous toward her as we were. She was a nice person who loved someone her parents didn't approve of, but it made no difference to us. Thanks for the post, anon@11:12. It's always good to see/know what others think and have the opportunity to compare it to what often happens in the real world.
I pushed past the huge warning about buzzflash harboring malware JUST to get to your fine site.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with that?
And Palin had the gaul to say the liberal media lies about her and the tea party movement. Who tells more lies than fox news, and the nimwits they have on. As an Iowan, I am embarassed they had her here. Apparently she did not have a sit down with the press here either. No questions please.
ReplyDelete"No other race would be expected to bear in silence..." What are you talking about? Every other race, religion and culture has been assaulted by white Christians since Columbus.
ReplyDeleteInteresting review of Sarah's speech at the Iowa GOP Ronald Reagan dinner:

Mama grizzlies my ass.
ReplyDeleteOdonnel has just canceled appearances on MAJOR Political TV programs. With this type of behavior,... she won't last long.
ReplyDeleteAll Democrats need to get out and VOTE in November ! It's the only way to stop these NUTS !
DWTS is taped live which means the actual shooting must start at 5 LA time to be shown at 8 on the East Coast.
ReplyDeleteDon't know which studio they use. They all have heavy guards so it would be across some street from the studio.
Wish I was in LA to show up with some sign.
OK, just looked it up. DWTS tapes at 5 at Television City at the corner of Beverly and Fairfax. Great traffic location for some funny signs on the street corner.
ReplyDeleteIs Ariana selling out or is she making the most of the reality of the situation by trying to have some input?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-tv/arianna-leno-tonight-show-third-world-america_b_721853.html
This is very scary and could very well be the beginning of the acceptance of Palin by many more American voters. It's worth talking about here.
I didn't realize DWTS was live, thanks! Apparently it's at CBS Studios. I could probably get out of work, but when would SP even arrive? I don't want to go alone! I was trying to google Sarah Palin protests, hoping Code Pink or something was planning one, but I haven't had much luck.
ReplyDeleteLA can be great - I've seen Obama's helicopter land from my office building : )
Chrissie's handlers probably told her to shut up NOW, based on all the inconvenient interviews she gave years ago that are now biting her in the butt. While COD is cute, she doesn't yet have Palin's truly bitchy persona or the big-$$ marketing pros that were busy spinning or deflecting Queenie's murky past as soon as McPain introduced her. COD really does sound pathetic when she tries to lie her way out of her own muck. Bill Maher should rock on and keep broadcasting all of the old Chrissie clips, right up to Election Day!
ReplyDeleteI hope the voters will withhold their votes from politicians who run from media scrutiny.
ReplyDeleteI also hope the media will stop trying to create the dramatic narrative that Palin is a contender for 2012 just because that would be fun and lucrative for them.
Behold the Sept 18, 2010 Values Voter Straw Poll
1. Mike Pence 24%
2. Huckabee 22%
3. Mitt Romney 13%
4. Newt Gingrich
5. Sarah Palin

Majii @12:33 -- It's nice to hear from someone with a pragmatic, open-minded attitude about the cultural and ethnic differences that make America what it is. I think the fear exhibited by many in the tea party stems from the fact that they have no experience with being a minority of any sort. Their entire perspective is based on being part of a "privileged" race, religion, culture or whatever you want to call it, and the sense of superiority and entitlement they derive from that.
ReplyDeleteBeing a white Christian male (or married to one) has been the mainstream identity in this country ever since it was founded. Over the years, various minority groups have come to be either tolerated or accepted depending on circumstances, but for some people it has always been a threatening proposition to acknowledge that people can be different from them without being inferior. Those people have trouble differentiating between individual behavior and group stereotypes, and do not seem particularly interested in understanding where their prejudice comes from. They just know they don't ever want to be in the minority because that would take away their superiority.
If this is how one has always seen the world, it is not surprising that they would respond with fear and anger to imagined grievances, and support extreme positions to try and preserve the world order in which they reign supreme. They are an anachronism in a multi-cultural American society, and so they cling to the belief that diversity is un-American. Having a black president only reinforces their paranoia that "other" people are trying to take over, take away their freedom, guns, religion, etc. I think what they are really afraid of is becoming the minority they have always looked down on, in a country they feel is rightfully theirs, and theirs alone.
Majii- Thank you for your post. I have a bi-racial family too. And every single person of color that I have known/met have open hearts. I'm sorry the non-whites in our country have to put up with this crap by the Teabag party and others like them. I'm glad that they are a dying breed/faction of America's past.
ReplyDeleteGryphen- We can not get on your site using Google Chrome because a warning comes up saying malicious malware is connected to your site.. Firefox is working OK though...
ReplyDeleteOk, someone has to say it:
ReplyDeleteThe Devil made her do it!
BTW: in the other 'witch' thread, there is a BIG question I have, since a MAKE witch is a WARLOCK!
So, if COD dated a "witch", are we talkin' 'bout something else or what?
Inquiring minds wanna know...
I believe the correct animal analogy you're looking for anonymous @ 11:43 is "chicken" with to without fecal matter. Lipstick also optional.
ReplyDeleteEveryone should check out the link that anon@1:00 provided about Sarah's speech at the Regan event in Iowa. It's nothing that anyone who reads this blog doesn't already know but it's a good read.
ReplyDeleteApparently, Sarah has to do a little more than stop in Iowa for a cup of tea and actually answer some questions if she intends on having any chance there.
Why can't CREW take on Palin?
ReplyDeleteOT ~ Is Willow replacing Bristol on DWTS? Or has the Bristol spotlight already stolen?

Thanks. It's within walking distance of my apartment. My sign will say: April 18, 2008: PALIN, YOU LIE!
While Christine O'Donnell certainly has the same drive for media attention as Mrs.TP, lies about her accomplishments and expects other people to pay her bills, I don't see the petty, vindictive temper that is such a constant with Mrs. Todd Palin.
ReplyDeleteTime will tell, and I hope someone is already burning up the keypad with an tell-all book in the near future.
I don't think she's hiding. O'donnell brags that she hauled in over a mil in the last few days. Who thinks she may have grabbed the cash and hit the first plane to South America?
ReplyDeleteDo I hear Tina Fey's footsteps approaching?
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm a white traditionalist and I resent being lumped with these people! White traditionalist values (also held by traditionalists of other colors) do not include lying, cheating, slander, incompetence, ignorance, unwed pregnancy or inciting to riot.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:12am....
ReplyDeletethank you so much for you words.
you are a amazing writer and i thank you for such a calm, rational, well thought out responce to a issue that is none of the above...
again. thank you.

ReplyDeletePlease DO NOT PROTEST DWTS. Bad idea. It'll just be covered and over-blown by the Palinloving Media and it'll be another "unfairness" she gets to point at and pout.
Better: Watch the show and vote for your favs, whom I assume are NOT Bristol Palin.
Seriously, get a whole group of your friends, real and virtual, together and take an action that will have an actual effect. I guarantee you'll have more friends sign up for this instead of protesting. Boyfriend included.
Leave the pouting for the Palins and their Bots.
If you have a comment regarding 11:12's post, I think it's a good idea to also post it on the WaPo's site where the article is. The author apparently needs some feedback.
ReplyDeleteooohh. could those malware warnings be related to that orora.com site some of us went to while investigating the mystery "orora" in Palin's tweet.
ReplyDeleteI googled the name and clicked on one of the search results, a company called orora something or other... i didn't actually get to the site because i had a big malware warning splashed across the screen. i backed outa there real fast.
could it have somehow been transmitted to your site, G, when we navigated back to you?
I wonder if, instead of running away, O'Donnell is merely busy taking Palin University crash courses: Intimidating The Media And Other Legitimate Critics 101 and Barking, Loudly and Often 101.
ReplyDeletePalin's been doing the Governing - Cliff's Notes Edition, so it's been recommended to COD as well.
PS - I think it's funny that COD also means "cash on delivery." Apropos, no?
actually, 11:12's comment is the comment of a poster to the WaPo article on COD. this is another piece on it.

Has anyone else noticed how O'Donnell is stylizing herself exactly like Palin? Same clothes. Same hairstyle (as her wig). As soon as she can afford, I can see her getting the same glasses too.
ReplyDeleteBTW really enjoyed the Bill Maher clip. I hope O'Donnell avoids the show so that Bill will fulfill his threat of showing more clips. The witchcraft one was a hoot.
Ya know, I fear that COD will do exactly like SP, and quit. The maher stuff etc is going to sink her. And when she quits, Rep Castle will step back in and win the seat.
ReplyDeleteWhere are these women coming from? They are all Palin knockoffs, even dressing and acting the same way. It's as if Sara Palin is reproducing by cloning! Seriously though, when did this happen?
ReplyDeleteJesus christmas!! At my institution of work, to be promoted from a level 3 to slevel 4 Rn, you need to show your educational credentials and licensure, present all your professional writings and research AND have an all day dance-card of interviews, with all levels of employees.
ReplyDeleteBut you can be a senator or VP candidate without proof of any education or experience, and without having to really do interviews with important media. And you can have illegal immoral behavior in your
background unquestioned.
WTF is wrong with this picture.
Oh and we have to take a drug test also, too??
I need a Rally to Restore Sanity.
