Nothing says "Christmas" like children posing with Santa Claus while clutching an AK-47. Please tell me this is just a sick joke.

Courtesy of My Fox Phoenix:

The Scottsdale Gun Club is inviting people to enjoy Santa and Machine Guns.

The family event allows people to take a holiday card picture with St. Nick -- and a high-powered fire arm.

Santa poses against a backdrop of an $80,000 Garwood minigun.

Families can choose to pose with other firearms, ranging from pistols to modified AR15s.

They also get a chance to test out the machine guns.

“I thinks it’s going to be all in fun from those who support the second amendment and those who don’t. Whether you’re a gun advocate or not, you should have a lot of fun with it,” said gun club member Richard Jones.

This has NOTHING to do with the second amendment,  and everything to do with promoting violence to our children. These are not hunting rifles, or BB guns, these are the weapons of war. Why would ANYBODY think they belonged in the tiny hand of a child?

According to the CDC over a thousand children between the ages of 0 to 17 years of age were unintentionally killed by guns in this country between 2000 and 2008. And that number will only increase as children are taught that guns are toys, something to be looked for under the Christmas tree, instead of instruments of death.

Our entire society is obsessed with violent video games, violent movies, and waging war on other countries for the flimsiest of excuses.  I would hope that at least Christmas, the holiday of peace and love, would be a sanctuary from this particular fetish.

Clearly that hope is misplaced.

I ask once again, what is wrong with people these days?

  2. Speaking of hillbillies...check out this parody of Gov Talon going to Walmart...

WASILLA, Alaska (CAP) - Former half-term Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin had to cut her Black Friday shopping short when was asked to leave the local Wal-Mart after constantly stopping customers to give them her opinion on various news items.

"At first, she was stood right next to me while I was welcoming people to Wal-Mart," said 86-year old Friday morning greeter Wallop Fish. "But then she started grabbing the shopping cart from my hands and thrusting it at the customer and saying things about that Coach Sandusky or Obama being born in Africa or the high cost of cosmetics and such."

Fish said that at first, customers thought it was "kinda neat" to be assaulted by Palin, but then she got more aggressive and started following patrons into the store. When store management asked her to leave, Palin reportedly made a dash for the women's bathroom where she sat in a locked stall trying to engage female customers who needed to use the facilities with her opinion about the political news of the day.

"It sounded to me like she was more worried about the football players at Penn State than she was about the kids that coach cornholed, allegedly, I mean," patron Mitzi Ingnuk said. "All I wanted to do was take a quick leak, and she just would not shut up. As soon as she heard me shut the stall door, she started right in.

"I thought the voice sounded familiar, but I was surprised to find out it was Sarah Palin," added Ingnuk. "I thought it was just some crazy cat lady or something."

Fellow customer and restroom user Millie Henderson agreed.

"I asked her when she took a breath once and I could get a word in edgewise, what about the boys what got reamed?" said Henderson. "And she starts in on something about when she was a kid and the hockey coaches and learning to relax while it's happening and think of something nice, like Christmas.

"I asked her what if some coach did something like that to Trig," Henderson added. "She got quiet for a second and changed the subject to world socialism."

Palin barricaded herself in the ladies' room for three hours until Wasilla police pried off the toilet stall door. But Palin again managed to elude capture and scampered to the sporting goods section where she started laying her hands on customers and "casting out demons."

Alaska Natural Resources personnel were finally able to take her down with a tranquilizer dart.

"It's not the craziest thing she's ever done, from what I've heard, but it was plenty crazy," store manager Walt McKenna said. "Enough to give me the willies, I'll tell ya, and I've been to San Francisco ... twice!"

    LMAO...Here's the link...

It's the dumbing down of America. People are just too lazy to take the time to things right. Guns have now become some sort of security blanket for the Christian right nutjobs.

The GOP has spread fear and hate for so long, these under-educated morons fear the brown people are coming to get them. Idiots. I

I've been predicting a very different outcome, of encouraging people to "bear arms."

The greentoothed folks who giggle like schoolgirls over such shit, will one day start to get actually HUNGRY. (Assuming another point I like to make: the rich get richer, as everyone seems to concede, but now, with technological advances, they are getting richer so quickly that everyone else is falling down a rabbit hole)

While Fox channel and jerks like Limbaugh and Beck have fooled a huge portion of the populace so far, the truth will start to become obvious, that those causing the hunger, are NOT the "librulls" these guns are being bought, in hopes of shooting.

    Talk about a plan backfiring.

Hope they don't shoot Santa, although . . . if he plays with fire, well, you know what happens. By the way, wonder when they'll offer the option of photos taken with Jesus and the AK47's - can't wait!!! Hey, GOP - meet your constituents!

Totally O/T, but Gryphen, would you mind posting the following survey for me:

    Random question:

If you were down-and-out, and a stranger were to give you something, would you

    A) Prefer money ($5-10), or
    B) a gift card?

If your answer was B), for what kind of store?

This is just so sad to me. To expose innocent children to the gun culture when they visit Santa is pure madness.

I'm so thankful that here in Canada the only things youngsters would be given when they see Mr. Claus are candy canes and coloring books. It's reassuring to know that old St. Nick is a peace lover.

When gun toting Americans visit Canada they are asked, much to their astonishment, to turn over their weapons at the border.

I dunno Gryphen, I think you miss the point: When a sweet young child points a loaded AK47 at Santa and says he wants an $80k minigun (how much is the regular sized gun???) you can be pretty damn sure that kid is gonna get an $80k minigun for Christmas.

And so, in this season of peace and love to all mankind, I say, may you all get the weaponry, ammunition and combat accessories of your dreams nestled under the tree this Christmas morning.

    Merry Freakin' Christmas everyone!

Tell Santa that they're going to shoot Rudolph, Bambi, Dasher, Prancer and Vixen. That ought to keep the old freezer stocked with venison stew. Call Chuck Heath for the recipe. Or, as they warned Ritchie in Jean Shepard's movie, "The Christmas Story," Careful, you'll shoot your eye out.

  23. Let me just say this very clearly. Automatic weapons are for people with itty bitty peni (penises?). I have killed animals for food. If I had a hunting rifle I would use it to kill food. I have NO problem with that. But gratuitous gun ownership? Bullshit. Sport hunting? Bullshit. Kids with guns? Unless they've been through a safety class and are planning to use NON-automatic weapons to kill food, BULLSHIT. ANY person who supports automatic weapons is a fool, a moron, a dickwad, an asshat, and an ignorant wifflepuck. Give those automatic weapons to your kids for pictures? YOU are an unfit parent. NO exceptions.

I spend my days working with adolescents that can't even control their urge to throw rocks or punches at those they are angry with. God knows what they would do if they had a weapon at hand. To glorify assault weapons in this way is absolutely depraved. Fun???? Someone needs to check that man's past out for sexual abuse. Maybe that's the reason.

    Gryphen,

The Ed Show did the Psycho Talk segment about Ohio Gov Kasich stating that he doesn't read Ohio papers. They basically depress Kasich.

Ed said that Kasich could avoid headlines (about non-paper reading) and could learn from the Sarah Palin school of journalism and then showed the Palin/Katie Couric question about what papers she read.

Cain has cancelled a 'star studded media' dinner scheduled for this Saturday. Attendees -- Matt Lauer, Barbara Walters, O'Reilly, Greta, etc. The dinner was being held by Cindy Adams -- the NYPost gossip mouthpiece. Coale called Adams to cancel the dinner.

Do these people, who I bet call themselves Christians, even read their holy book?

I am sadly (not ashamed mind you) one of those few individuals who has seen first hand and up close, what a round from one of these weapons will do to a human being. The very concept of allowing children to pose with these weapons and handle them as well...is fucking sickening.

anyone think this is funny should look at what happens to children when they go and try out these guns. Nothing will ever bring back the little boy killed by an uzi. During the gun show, 8-year-old Christopher Bizilj was firing the micro Uzi when he accidentally shot himself in the head. He died instantly. Yeah, funny right? Can you picture Santa in that picture? Sick bastards still have kids and raise them with the same toxic parenting that they learned from their own parents. And the beat goes on and on. Sad.

My…how polarized we are. I agree, posing children with Dear Old Santa and “black guns” was a huge mistake. Dumb. But, what I find more fascinating are the predictable howls of outrage.
To put my reaction into perspective: We live in the bottom end of Arizona. Couple of years ago granddaughter announced, “Men with guns just ran past our place…” Four dead found, three wounded: bandits killing drug smugglers. Only 9 dead within walking distance of our place, three last week, but the year is not over. Border Patrol Agent shot dead just over the hill from our home.
Locals have had no serious incidents. Too many guns in our community to take a chance (so-far).
I carry concealed (to not worry the tourists) Wife jogs the dog with a pistol; more worried about mountain lions than shooters. Granddaughter, now 13, safe and competent with a 9mm pistol.
Why? Not paranoia. Reality. Been here 15 years. Sheriff has been to out place exactly two times, both times lost, trying to find another home.
We lived in the “Big City” for years. Almost impossible to own a gun, but actually feel safer here than there, a peace-loving city with cops 24/7 minutes away. (carried concealed there too, illegally, whilst working the police beat in some really dangerous environments. (actually have forgotten how many times I have been shot at, only slightly wounded once..The First Watts Riots”)
But, back to the predictable anguish. Mixed emotions. I am sympathetic to the city dwellers…at least a 9-11 call might bring help in time to intercede. Repeat, “might.”
But, here, we are on our own. The local Fire Department has no record of where we live. Hospital is one hour away. Cell phones unreliable. The Border Patrol is wonderful. Nine-minute response time… usually two trucks, four agents, armed to the teeth with assault weapons and body armour.. IE., not your local city cop with a pop gun and a can of mace. Reality.
So, bottom line, I absolutely understand the reaction. But, reality surrounds our home.

In the interest of full disclosure:
    Vote independent, lean Democrat
    NRA member
One .360 semi-auto pistol (concealed carry)
    One 9mm unconcealed carry
One 30 caliber carbine. (FYI, the carbine is a defensive weapon, not an assault rifle)
    One very good dog.
And, having carried concealed for nearly a half-century, I have never shot anyone or even displayed a weapon.
