The world through Republican eyes. You might want to hang on to something during THIS ride.

I know it is just one woman, but I have little doubt that she speaks for millions of ignorant, undereducated, racists, who believe every hateful e-mail they receive from the Teabaggers, and every anti-progressive talking point vomited out on Fox News.

Sweet looking old granny type or not, THIS woman, and what she represents in this country, scares me.

The frustrating thing is that the ignorance is so deeply entrenched that there is just no point in trying to have an intelligent conversation with a person like this. No matter what facts you might point out to this woman, she will just double down on her stupidity.

OMG!! Then she said she listens to Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity and the TPer's. Makes sense then!

  5. H.L. Mencken said, "As democracy is perfected, the office of the president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

  6. When our government is spoken of as some menacing, threatening, foreign entity, it ignores the fact that in our democracy, government is us.

Gosh, I'm not part of the "click in Hollywood" nor the good ol' boys club, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to throw my lot in with this hateful, ignorant cow.

Let's get this straight, all that incredulous bullshit about Obama and science-backed issues are brainwashed lies but anything about her issues is socialist?

Anyone the Dems are against we go after them with lies?

But bleeding heart that I am, I still thinks she should get the care she needs.

    base
    adj
    1. devoid of honour or morality; ignoble; contemptible
    2. of inferior quality or value

    base
    noun
In politics, the term base refers to a group of voters who almost always support a single party's candidates for elected office.

    Interesting. A base base.

  14. Scary. Where was this taken? And who was the reporter? It was almost like he was trying to bait her to say those things.

You know, it's not people like her that I hate - she's stupid and ignorant and vile - but the people in my OWN party who were "disappointed" in Obama because he wasn't "liberal" enough and who sat out the 2010 elections, giving those TeaBaggers a chance to screw up the country.

Not only do we have to get out the vote for Obama, but we have to take back the House. That is crucial - and EVERY Dem has to vote. We have to vote like it was 2008 and our country was headed into an abyss. Because if we lose now - in 2012 - the abyss this country was staring into will be with us!

The problem with the Dems is the messaging. We should approach every ad with the same message.

"Why would we elect the same people who got our country into this mess to begin with? Do you want to return to Republican foreign policy - shoot now, ask questions later? Do you want to return to Republican financial policy...with the continued breakdown of the middle class? Hey, if so, vote Republican. But don't cry when we sink even lower as a country."

    Something like that...

This is what happens when corruption is so widespread and all influencing. There have always been stupid, ignorant and easily manipulated people.

But now we have these "heros", like beck, exposing the corruption (of the left, of course). They have created a paranoia in these non critical thinkers. Portray the other side as liars and monsters.

It's a perfect underhanded strategy to use when you are losing the people in your party and beliefs, especially as the world progresses.

Yes, she sounds like my South Carolina relatives. The ones that send me ridiculous emails like the kind of curtain Obama is standing in front of is a "secret Muslim message" letting them know he is on "their side". The stupid hate -it burns!

These people do not want to know the facts of the matter, because it is REALLY all emotionally driven. They see an educated, articulate bi-racial man in the White House, and are freaking out.

Most of them voted for Dubya Bush, and DO NOT want to admit they helped enable that dim-witted war criminal to drive this country into ruin.

Back to the "Constitution" my ass. Where were they when Dubya was wiping his butt on it?? Oh right, it was all about treating Muslims like animals, not white people.

My hope is in the rising generation. Most of my SC relatives that listen to Glen Beck are elderly, overweight, and have one foot in the grave and the other on a deep-fried banana peel.

While I don't agree with partial birth abortions I wonder what makes these people think they suddenly came on the scene when Obama was elected. A republican neo-con with a majority House and Senate had plenty of chances to eliminate them and did nothing while they ran this country into a hole from which we may never climb free of. Where were these people when GW was making war on the American people?

That poor deluded soul saddens me to no end. The way she embraces her ignorance with such pride makes me want to weep.

To imagine that there are other folks out there who espouse the same set of 'values' as she does and will be eligible to vote sends shivers down my spine.

This is why it is imperative that those Progressives who are attacking the President need to put aside their grievances and give him their support.

Thankfully, my 82 year old Mom is a long term progressive. Thankfully, I don't get the wrongly righteous, tea taliban, group-think talk from anyone within my immediate family.

I don't know how I'd handle it, if my Mom was the lady in the video. Yikes.

The video lady is also a reason that I stopped talking to some cousins and other relatives years ago. I went through their rah-rah Reagan and elder Bush years. Yuck.

This is exactly why they are trying to privatize our schools, re-write our textbooks, why the Kochs are bribing universities to include a mandatory course on Ayn Rand philosophy, why home schooling is being pushed (the home schooling books are already revised history).

Did you notice how she invoked education "THEY had our schools for 60 years... they've been brainwashed to vote that way". Beck has been doing a very effective job attacking education, especially upper learning, calling it liberal brainwashing.

The projection and irony is amazing, this brain-washed, uneducated woman is ranting about our educated youth being brain-washed.

They are good, these pied pipers, the Limbaughs, Becks, and their ilk... they are very good. It's absolutely terrifying.

She's going to be so mad that she forgot her ditto-head fundamental bitch-point: that billionaire you are supposed to invoke in every political argument, you puppet, is Soros, George Soros. Perhaps you should write it on your hand?

The quotes form Mencken and President Obama reminded me of one from Walt Kelly, in the foreword of "The Pogo Papers":

"Specializations and markings of individuals everywhere abound in such profusion that major idiosyncracies can be properly ascribed to the mass. Traces of nobility, gentleness and courage persist in all people, do what we will to stamp out the trend. So, too, do those characteristics which are ugly. It is just unfortunate that in the clumsy hands of a cartoonist all traits become ridiculous, leading to a certain amount of self-conscious expostulation and the desire to join battle.

There is no need to sally forth, for it remains true that those things which make us human are, curiously enough, always close at hand. Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blast on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us.

    Forward!"

This is the product that Sarah Palin and her ilk have banked on. This is one "teachable moment" the Democrats failed to tap into to showcase exactly what's wrong with the Tea Party and the GOP. Where are the voices of the leaders of the GOP railing against this line of thinking? Oh right, their sole mission is to make sure Obama, and our country, fail.

Barbra Carson is right, HL Menken is as relevent today as he was all his life. An amazing author who had a keen eye and a finger on the pulse of American Society.

    Thanks, Barbara, for your comment!

This reminds me of a woman that was interviewed in rural PA before the '08 election. She was all worked up because if Obama won, "all women are going to have to wear burqa's." 49. Despite the obvious age of this deranged woman, don't fall into the trap of thinking that all Teapers are old or that all old people are Teapers.

Look back to the 60's. Those of us working for change then didn't become deranged, narrow thinking idjits after a few birthdays.

The son of one of my most liberal friends could have done this same interview with the same conviction and he is 34!! Crazed people often raise like-thinking children and even a few children of liberals fall for the extremist porridge but please give us old hippie types a break!!!!
