Gingrich wins South Carolina. I hear the Democrats are planning to have a huge party to celebrate!

"What? I won? Gee I wish I had a newer wife to celebrate with.
Courtesy of  the LA Times:

Newt Gingrich surged to victory Saturday in the South Carolina primary, riding a pair of strong debate performances to overtake Mitt Romney and stop his seemingly relentless march to the GOP nomination.

Several television networks called the race for the former House Speaker almost immediately after the polls closed, a repeat of what happened 11 days ago in New Hampshire, but with a much different result.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Romney appeared headed for second place, with former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Texas Rep. Ron Paul trailing behind.

The results were a fitting addendum to a rollercoaster campaign, marking the first time ever that three different contestants have won the first three Republican contests.

Santorum won Iowa, Romney won New Hampshire, and now Gingrich wins South Carolina.  If the GOP were a human being they would currently be receiving aggressive psychotherapy to deal with a debilitating Dissociative Identity Disorder.

The truth is that none of these idiots can beat Obama, and the Republicans know it. So they are simply delaying the inevitable, which is choosing the next loser to face the President from a stable of third rate choices.

I can hardly wait to see how many votes Colbert was able to convince South Carolinian's to cast for Herman Cain.  And I wonder if that had ANY impact at all?

Update: Proof that the Democrats are celebrating Newt's victory, DNC Chairwoman Debbie was spotted at the Gingrich after party.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz is at the Newt party. I ask if she's there as a supporter. "Yes, absolutely!"
The only people more excited about this win than the Newt supporters are President and Mrs. Obama.

    This is the most fun Republican primary season EVAH! And it's only going to get better.

    And hey all, Andrew Sullivan quotes Jesse in today's post at the Daily Dish. It's all about Palin's use of the word "McGinniss'd". Sullivan makes the point that Palin realized the jig was up when Joe's book came out. Fun stuff.

    Oh god, this means we have to put up with the smug attitudes of Sarah and the Flying Monkeys, since they think she is the one who called it, even though everyone was seeing it, and talking about it, as usual Sarah just jumped on the bandwagon and claimed it was her thinking. Typical MO for a liar.

    Newt will be all smug and sickening, grandiose and full of verbal diarrhea.

    BUT, I AM happy to see Mittens bite the dust, he's another one that is smug as hell and it's great to see him get some wind knocked out of him, too. What a circus these guys are.

    Fox News is projecting that Rick Santorum will finish third, and Ron Paul will be fourth. That means Santorum will most likely stick around for Florida.

  8. See, more proof that real people don't give a shit about a candidate's personal life. And before you go into the Clinton Lewinsky bs, has that REALLY stopped his career? It stopped hers cold. He is thriving and could POSSIBLY win another election if he were able to run.

    In short, who the eff cares. WE care about a candidate's belief system, background and record. hence, NO absurdly radical candidates please. Obama got lucky with the drowning economy and being a part of the party that WASNT in power. OTHERWISE, the man would still be serving coffee to the real leaders and thinkers. Thanks BIll C for the alleged quote.

    Candidates are people too, which families that are probably 800 times stronger than yours. Ask yourself: could your daughter handle a bunch of gossipers spreading lies about her family or mother/father? Could your sisters ignore hateful, ignorant remarks about her sister/brother? If Sarah Palin as given us one good thing, it is that despite all the manure, family means the most in a person's life. Be like them, stand by those whom you love and will always love you unconditionally. That my adversaries, is family values: VALUING family above ALL else.

    Romney Won Wealthy Voters, Lost Other Income Levels

    According to exit polls, Mitt Romney lost voters of all income levels to Newt Gingrich except those making over $200,000 per year, reports PBS Newshours' Christina Belantoni. Among these wealthiest voters, these early numbers show Romney winning 47% to Gingrich’s 31%.

    Looks like Sarah will be on Hannity tomorrow, it says on the graphic:

    ---
    Santorum and Hannity Boo-Hoo Over Mean Mainstream Media

    This Hannity segment from Friday's show made me laugh out loud in a big, raucous shriek of laughter. After giving Newt Gingrich the first 20 minutes of his show, Sean turned to Rick Santorum and concern-trolled about how mean the "mainstream media" has been to conservative candidates. This was, of course, the perfect opportunity for Rick Santorum to invite everyone to find out why it is that he hates Google so much.

    Hannity hates mainstream media, despite the fact that he works for them. Santorum hates the Internet. And both of them nearly let their heads explode with the unfairness of it all.

    Dear Kay, I can absolutely guarantee that if some woman came forward with a little baby along with her accusations that Barack Obama was the father, you and your Republican pals would be calling for his resignation. Sarah would be screaming about family values, never mind that her family has few values that I admire. Barack and Company could show the DNA tests all day long, proving that the woman's claim was false, and you would still be on his case that it could have happened, after all, that baby looks like he came from Kenya.

    Newt has plenty of other baggage, having been fined $300,000. when he left Congress in disgrace. Oh, that reminds me that Sarah Palin had to repay Alaska for some ethics violations involving travel allowance that wasn't allowed. You see, Kay, when you cheat in one case, it is easy to cheat in other cases. Newt said that he was never a lobbyist for Freddie Mack; he called himself a historian. No, he was a lobbyist, and he lied. He lied and cheated on his wives, and he lied and cheated in politics. The way I see it, the candidate's personal life is a reflection of how he leads his life in general. And, don't get me started on the many lies of Sarah Palin.

    Kay, how touching. However, could you please explain how Sarah Palin taught anyone about family? Because I'm confused.

    You see, if there were rumors about me, rumors that my new very convenient baby with Down Syndrome wasn't actually born to me just in time for anti-reproductive-rights GOP primary season, but to my 17-year-old unwed daughter, I wouldn't publicize that my unwed teenage daughter's also very convenient pregnancy proved that she couldn't be the mother.

    But that's just me.

    Throwing her daughter to the wolves is obviously Sarah Palin's style, though.

    She is truly a foul human being, whose only use for family is to promote her own false image.

  41. Okay, before I finish reading all the comments, I have to say (and maybe I am trying to assuage myself and my fear that Palin will take credit for this): IF Newt won in SC because of her endorsement, then why did she not endorse him earlier (like Todd did) and therfore, why did he not win in Iowa, or in NH? She endorsed Newt because of what he said about her having a role in his administration should he (God, please forbid) win the election and because he could win in SC due to SC being racist, ultra-conservative, anti-Mormon, etc. That is all! God, I wish we could shut her up. How much longer do we have to endure the atrocity that she is?

  42. Anonymous5:42 PM

    The way that Bristol and Willow handled criticism was to use a homosexual slur to attack the critic-- not facts, not a well reasoned argument, but crude, distasteful insults. Some guy in a bar insulted Bristol's mother, and her response was the same thing, using homosexual slurs to address the guy.

    How do kids learn their behavior? Usually by the examples set at home. They are a reflection of their family values. Bristol was paid handsomely to give speeches, so I would expect her to have some poise and the ability to answer criticism thoughtfully. She cannot. She resorted to juvenile name calling instead. She was in a position to educate people about Down syndrome in defending Trig. She was in a position to approach the guy in the bar and say, calmly, "What political positions of my mother do you disagree with?" I am mentioning Bristol because she was a paid spokesperson, used to appearing in front of crowds that must have also asked questions. It is too bad that she has no self control and that her vocabulary is so juvenile.

    This is going to be a petty issue, and I know that you will be insulted. However, we notice that most people who troll for Sarah, sometimes a friend or member of the Palin family in person, do not use correct grammar. The Palin family does not seem to value education. Let me explain:
    "That my adversaries, is family values: VALUING family above ALL else." That is family values is not correct. Values are plural, so to make the sentence easier to read, I suggest: "those ARE family values." When you say "this is values" it sounds wrong. It is a good idea to stay in school, do the homework, learn good grammar and good speech. These are values that will last you a lifetime.

    Newt Gingrich's Surprise Win in South Carolina Panics Republicans

    The Republican establishment is beside itself after Newt Gingrich's upset in South Carolina--

    Reactions to Newt Gingrich's stunning and impressive victory in the South Carolina primary form a symphony. First, of course, we hear the cheers of South Carolina Republicans who have chosen their champion. From Ronald Reagan in 1980 through John McCain in 2008, the winner of this primary has always gone on to be the Republican nominee.

    Then, of course, we can hear the buttons popping from Newt Gingrich's shirt as his ego swells to Macy's Parade size. If you listen carefully you can hear the soft sobs of Mitt Romney and his consultants, crying in their chocolate milk.

    But above it all we can hear the weeping, the wailing, the gnashing of teeth of the Republican establishment as Gingrich's victory sends them into full-blown panic. I'm not talking about mere fear, nor normal nervousness. Not even the feeling you get when the captain says, "We've lost power in one of our four engines." No, this is worse. Worse even than when your doctor says, "I don't like the looks of that shadow on the X-ray."

    This is terror. Chest-clutching, breath-sucking, soul-shaking panic. This is your teenage daughter telling you, "I think I'm in trouble." This is a Turkish border guard pulling you into a holding room when you've got a baggie of coke in your pocket. This is what George H.W. Bush famously called, "Deep doo-doo."

    The Republican Party has never seen anything like it. Republicans are hierarchical, orderly, disciplined - everything the Democrats are not. They nearly always nominate the guy who was runner-up last time: Ford beat Reagan, and Reagan got the next nod. Reagan beat George H.W. Bush, so Bush Sr. got the next turn. And then Bush beat Dole, who in turn was rewarded with the 1996 GOP nod. Then they got all wild and crazy and nominated the son of a former President, but then quickly reverted to form and nominated the guy he defeated, John McCain. And who did McCain beat? Mitt Romney.

    As the anointed one, Romney had all the advantages, especially the most important: money. But as the Beatles taught us, money can't be you love. Romney and the Super PAC that supports him outspent Gingrich and the pro-Gingrich Super PAC in South Carolina by a two-to-one margin ($4 million to $2.16 million.)

    Gingrich won the South Carolina primary not because of advertising, but rather because of his debate performances. 88 percent of South Carolina Republicans said the debates were important to making up their minds, and in the two key debates, Gingrich hit every GOP erogenous zone. He scolded Fox News' Juan Williams when Williams asked him about the dog-whistle language Gingrich uses to stir up racial stereotypes. Williams, the author of "Eyes on the Prize," a respected history of the civil rights movement, knows of what he speaks. But Gingrich knows his party's base, and the base loves both the coded language and attacking anyone who calls them on it.

    But it was Thursday night's CNN debate that sealed the deal.

    Well, as a conservative person -- no, no, not one of those; think "conservation" and "caution" -- I can't help but be wary of this. The "not Romney" people have been waiting to explode in support of someone else, it's just that the others (trump, bachmann, cain, etc) could not get the fire lit. Now that actual elections are underway, and NEwt won a big one today, maybe he can be the person to harness that fire.

    I want Obama to win, and that is job one. But if he is going to lose, I sure as hell would rather have Mitt be President than any of these other nuts on the right. In bolder moments I want Newt or Rick or even Sarah to get the nomination, and to then get epically crushed, thus putting an end to the hard right's claim that the only reason they ever lose is when they run a moderate. Put the Tea Party down for good.

    But I would really really hate to see Newt actually get elected.

    Newt’s South Carolina slaughter of the onetime frontrunner changed the calculus of the GOP presidential race.

    Exit polls showed Romney losing big to Gingrich among South Carolina evangelicals, self-described conservatives, veterans, and even married women.

    Newt Gingrich QUIT the house of representatives in a snit because he was forced from the Speaker of the House position. To all the people that contributed to money to his campaign and worked on the campaign, Newt said effectively 'it's all about me'.

    From wiki

    Gingrich made this announcement only a day after being elected to an 11th term from his district. Commenting on his departure, Gingrich said, "I'm willing to lead but I'm not willing to preside over people who are cannibals. My only fear would be that if I tried to stay, it would just overshadow whoever my successor is."

    "WE care about a candidate's belief system..."

    Doesn't a candidate's personal life reflect his/her belief system? Of course everyone makes mistakes, but what those mistakes are and how the person handles them are direct indicators of an individual's true belief system. Anyone can pay lip service to anything, but the proof of what you believe is in how you lead your life.

    If you are Sarah Palin, as I suspect, there's plenty to support what I just said in that Bible with which you claim to be so familiar. "By their fruits shall you know them" is a good place to start.

    Reacting to Newt Gingrich’s victory in tonight’s South Carolina Republican primary, a congressional GOP aide emails TPM:

    The thought of those two living in our White House makes me want to throw up.

    An objective person can evaluate Sarah Palin's Trig birth story and conclude that it is false. In fact almost every detail that Sarah Palin boasts of in that sorry tale makes an objective person wince.

    Sarah Palin BRAGS about boarding a transcontinental flight after an amniotic fluid leak for a premature Down Syndrome baby when she was high-risk (over 40, 7th pregnancy, history of miscarriages). Sarah Palin BRAGS about avoiding a NICU-equipped hospital to have her doctor INDUCE labor in a small hospital not even rated to handle twins.

    An objective person does conclude that Sarah Palin is mentally unstable.

    My youngest daughter got pregnant at 17, didn't marry the father, works and continues to further her education, doesn't "party", says there will plenty of time when she is done with school and her little girl is older, can Palin's daughter do that?

    My daughter doesn't get along well with her daughter's father, yet she has never denied him visitation rights and she wouldn't dream of bad mouthing him or his family when her sweet little girl is around, can Palin's daughter do that?

    My daughter trusts me and confides in me, yet she has never told me nor do I need to know the exact place and circumstances of my granddaughter's conception, can Palin's daughter do that?

    As a grandmother there is no amount of money that could ever make me look away and condone behavior by my daughter which one day would hurt or humiliate my granddaughter.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The only position Newt Gingrich would give Davy is "Special Advisor" on --whatever. She'll stay in Alaska, and he'll give her a call once a month to make her think he's paying attention to her. She won't get within 3,500 miles of Washington.
    And, as an "historian," (who was denied tenure at a fourth-rate college), he won't waste his time pretending that the anti-education Palins have any value.
    Sexual mores? Maybe "Christians" can ignore an entire clan who think unmarried teen pregnancy is normal.
    But people who are entirely without any education, who have no curiosity, and are too lazy to learn? They're among the ones who Newt would have cleaning the toilets in their high schools, to learn about the work ethic. The Sarah Palin show gave us a glimpse into her home. The least that we want is that the MSM will run the narrative that Sarah is pulling the strings and Newt is her puppet and that she'll become the power behind the throne (WH).
    People know that it was the seal of approval from the Palins that the voters in SC were willing to overlook Newt's baggage.
    After fighting the MSM for almost 4 years, Sarah anticipates that they will spin Newt's victory into a Palin comeback which they would present as something sinister in order to take down Newt in FL.
    Besides, there's no need to advertise the Palin brand. Everyone interested in politics knows that her endorsement is the gold standard of approval.
    Holy Medusa, Batman! Just saw a clip of Newtie and the Blowfish (Calista), and he's harping on the media, the food stamp president vs the paycheck president (is he running against Shrub?), and teaching kids of ALL backgrounds to work for their money.
    At one point, I could swear the corners of Blowfish's formed a semi snarl/smile and one whisp of her hair ACTUALLY tried to escape!
    The best, Old Crusty Cueball was on Fuchs News w/ Meg Kelly and some male dufus taking turns (typical). She's dressed in black, with a dark background, accessorized like a real candidate (earrings AND necklace matching and understated) with her roadkill spit shined and up do'ed almost like the RNC days
    In Crusty Cueball's addled brain, she's dressed up, waiting for a phone call from Newt asking her to be his speech writer or running mate.
    HA HA HA
    As long as there's breath in the blowfish's lungs, that ain't happening! Newtie needs Sarah to get to Florida, then he'll kick Crusty to the curb. That's how he rolls.
    The newt broke his marriage vows and asked for a divorce AFTER his wives became ill. This is not a coincidence. With commitment and loyalty like that they would have been better off getting a dog instead of a newt.
    The man has no morals. Why would we give this man the power to speak for our country?
  119. Why is no one talking about Newt's "Contract with America", better known to my friends as "Contract ON America"? Seems more critical than anything about with whom he sleeps. Or whatever they do. Nasty as that aspect of his life is. He is a world class misogynist but he took aim on most of us when he was in power before. His regime was incredibly destructive last time around. Why would anyone want to do that again?
    Holy Crap, Kay is just a crazy person! He or she is absolutely all over the place. Thanks Kay, for making me feel absolutely NORMAL! You are like some of my crazy aunts; I love and adore them but give them a wide berth and listen with a pasted on smile and half an ear when they go off on their "tangents".
    Keep on keepin' on crazy Kay. The world needs a few of you, just to keep the rest of us entertained.
    I know this is responding to a comment from over a hundred comments ago (just read 3:45) but if Obama hadn't become president he still would have continued as the wise and well educated civil servant and leader that he naturally is in some other capacity. Suggesting that he would be "serving coffee" seems nothing other than racism since it is ignoring the facts of his career and personage.
    I try to understand the people who argue "we don't like his policies! It's not about him looking black!" however, I just don't see the hysteria and pearl-clutching and desperation about needing to get him out as being really and truly about his "policies".
    I also am really irked about the tendency to ignore that he is in fact a Christian by people who value such things in a leader. The Presidenial Prayer Committe website which was instituted after 9/11 for Bush has some prayers posted for a candidate to rise up to take our country back to God. The suggestion is that Obama is not Christian enough, I guess. It's all very "some animals are more equal than others". Again: smells like teen spirit.
    And by "teen spirit", I mean racism. Sorry, I try to see the viewpoint and keep coming up with the same conclusion.
    I am certain Sarah and Todd asked Newt not to mention their names. Sarah wanted the spotlight to be solely on Newt. It's what's known as stature building and he needs it. The least that we want is that the MSM will run the narrative that Sarah is pulling the strings and Newt is her puppet and that she'll become the power behind the throne (WH).
    People know that it was the seal of approval from the Palins that the voters in SC were willing to overlook Newt's baggage.
    After fighting the MSM for almost 4 years, Sarah anticipates that they will spin Newt's victory into a Palin comeback which they would present as something sinister in order to take down Newt in FL.
    Besides, there's no need to advertise the Palin brand. Everyone interested in politics knows that her endorsement is the gold standard of approval.
    I'm late to the party but already spotted a squatting, drooling wonk eyed troll at 9:36 PM.
    Hey stoopid, in the real world THIS is what most people KNOW:
    The newt has no intention of mentioning their names. Sorry Paylumps, no room at the Monstrous Ego Inn. Sore-ah latest folly: shining her dim spotlight on the piglet. It's what's known as shooting yourself in the calloused foot. You would think that the least she wants is the MSM to actually do their job and run with the narrative that she is hoping that by being the newt's puppet she'll have a cushy job and get in on the ril grifting goin' on, the big leagues that she daydreams of when sitting on her not so white throne, which she does often 'cause Dud is no slouch in the vindicative department, slipping her those laxatives as revenge for his hostage raisins.
    There is no need to advertise the P$lin Scam. Everyone interested in the criminal activities of certain Polluticians knows that buyer's remorse is just desserts for the voters who apparently never heard of Fool's Gold.
You are someone who shows true "family values" supporting your daughter through the difficult times. Obviously you did a good job raising a responsible, hard working daughter. Good luck to all of you in the future.
    Sarah Palin Says Gingrich Is Frontrunner, Still Won't Endorse
    On Fox News Saturday night, Sarah Palin still refused to endorse a candidate, but said that Newt Gingrich was the frontrunner. Palin also talked up her husband Todd’s endorsement of Gingrich.
    6:40 PM
    Hey Sarah tell us something we don't know like:
    Who is Tri-G's birth mother?
    What's on Shailey Tripp's computer?
    Who is Willow's baby's daddy?
    How come Track never got married?
    Did you do any of Glen Rice's team mates?
    How's your open marriage doing?
    How many Big Macs does it take to open Bristol's legs?
    Is it true Bristol is a pre-opt tranny?
    Is it true Tawd is a pre-opt tranny?
    How many toupees do you own?
  133. Thank you Kay @3:54 pm for so perfectly illustrating the concerns of Anonymous @3:50 pm:
    "Oh god, this means we have to put up with the smug attitudes of Sarah and the Flying Monkeys, since they think she is the one who called it, even though everyone was seeing it, and talking about it, as usual Sarah just jumped on the bandwagon and claimed it was her thinking. Typical MO for a liar. "
    Hypocrisy and Republicans; apparently you can't have one without the other.
    President Obama is light years beyond your lowlife disgraced former Speaker Gingrich. Typical of Republicans; you've shown time and time again that corruption and lack of ethics is no bar to holding elected office.
    Gingrich was forced to resign in disgrace from the third highest position in the land and you would trust him with the presidency.
    And, typical of racists, you used the (alleged) quote about how he's black and should be serving coffee to his betters (white men). The alleged quote may have been made by Clinton, but your pleasure using it is obvious.
    The stellar record of top-flight education and accomplishments of President Obama is light years beyond enything that the low-life, racist, corrupt, un-American Republicans can muster up all put together.
    You say: "LEARN democrats. Those of us truly objective people can smell bullshit from a mile away and you stink."
    No dear, that's your own festering racism, hypocrisy, and evil that you smell. By the way, you should change your white sheet; it looks like you sat in a steaming pile of your own bullshit.
    @Kay:
    I find it quite funny that the same folks who are trying to trivialize Newt's transgressions in his personal life are not willing to extend the same charitable approach to the personal lives of Bill Clinton or John Edwards. I would be willing to bet they would have a cow if any such info came to light about President Obama. You are delusional if you think for one moment that Sarah Palin has a strong family (LOL) or that Newt Gingrich's misogyny and serial adultery would be excused in Democrats by the people rooting for Gingrich. Anyone who claims to be a paragon of family values is bound to be subjected to intense scrutiny, and these two have personal and political records that don't pass the smell test. President Obama, on the other hand, DOES have a strong family unit and is not an adulterer. As an African-American, I fully got exactly what you meant with your remark that the president would be "serving coffee" if he hadn't become president. See, it's the racism that a disturbing number of Republican leaders and voters are willing to verbalize that turn off most of us from voting for GOP candidates as even dog catchers.
    As for 9:36 p.m., was Palin's endorsement the "gold standard" for Christine O'Donnell, Joe Miller, or Sharon Angle? While it's true that Nikki Haley, a Palin endorsee won, she has so antagonized even the Republicans in her own state that her chances of re-election are exceedingly slim, not to mention a political career that extends beyond being South Carolina's governor.
    What it boils down to is that the GOP has a huge, self-inflicted problem that is manifesting itself in the nomination process of 2012.
    The GOP establishment wants someone who seems reasonable by comparison with the other nuts, but the base wants someone who gives them red meat rhetoric in place of actual solutions.
    Kay made it clear she defines "family values" as sticking up for a family member regardless of what he or she does.
    Kay, I and most people define a "strong" person differently. A strong person does not turn things around lying someone else is guilty of their decisions. An example is the Bridge to no where. A "strong" person is assertive and secure to speak up for self without name calling or family members ganging up like in FB assault.
    Folks, there are clearly fundamental differences in how Cpeers define values and limitations of "family first". I believe if a Palin committed murder their followers would only measure if their family assisted with the murder.
