I can only imagine how much more beautiful Alaska would be if we could get rid of this ugliness.

You may remember this unbelievable douchebag as the guy who believes that homosexuality is caused by demons and has used exorcisms to pray the gay away.

Just one of the truly ugly parts of this great state.

(H/T to my friends over at Bent Alaska,)

"I'm a bigot and I'm a Christian." That's a true statement. You CAN be both.

There Jerry, fixed it for ya.

    Idiot.

Please, do let us all in the lower 48 know when this giant fuckwad shakes this mortal coil. I will personally travel to Alaska and take a great big messy shit on his grave.

Loved the comment by Anonymous at 10:25 - it is so good, it bears repeating, don't you think?

"I'm a bigot and I'm a Christian." That's a true statement. You CAN be both.

    Thanks, Anonymous.

BTW, this is particularly cathartic to see after listening to the interview of the lesbian daughter of a deceased woman on the Lawrence O'Donnell show tonight.

For those who missed it: this woman, one of four children, was denied communion by a priest at her mother's funeral!!!

She said the first few rows could hear him berate her as he said, "You cannot take communion, because you live with a woman in sin" or words to that effect. She said she stood there for several minutes stunned, unable to believe he'd just denied her and tried to humiliate her in public at her mother's funeral. She and her siblings had been raised Catholic, and she'd never been denied communion before even though every had known her sexual orientation for years.

Then, as the family was preparing to depart the church for the cemetery, the funeral director came over to her to say that the priest had just informed him that he'd "developed a migraine" and would be unable to perform the final rites at the grave site. Imagine!

The funeral director was able to call around and find a retired priest to perform the grave site rites for the family.

All the diocese would do is issue an apology and say the priest's behavior was against church policy - that the priest should have reprimanded her in private, not public. Imagine!

She is asking that he be removed from pastoral work, not the priesthood.

So, let me get this right: the church doesn't condone women being lesbian but does condone priests being homosexual pedophiles. Geez, Louise. Talk about double-standards.

    1. Thanks for bringing this up. I was appalled at the attitude of this so-called servant of Christ. His behavior is so far from what Jesus taught us about tolerance that the only valid excuse would be that he has become senile. Glad that LOD tackled the issue.

Here we go again w/Prevo. Mixing church and state - he's a Republican and preaches government stuff from the pulpit + he screws the M of A on real estate taxes for his multiple properties (which are currently being investigated). I think the laws should be changed within our state government that churches NOT be exempt from real estate taxes! Get out and vote this next election cycle to assure that gays are not discriminated against and lend your vote to rid ourselves of as many Republicans as possible. They are showing themselves to be horribly detrimental throughout our nation as well as in Alaska.

Eeww, can I play? :"I'm a Christian and a war monger." You lie.
"I'm a Christian and a conservative." You lie.
"I'm a Christian and a Palin." You lie.
"I'm a Christian and against food stamps for the poor." You lie.
"I'm a Christian and for the death penalty." You lie.
"I'm a Christian and against health care for all." You lie.

I've come to the conclusion that there MUST have been another guy named Jesus Christ, that these folks worship, as the one I've always heard about, bears no resemblance whatsoever to the hateful deity Prevo and his ilk speak of.

Their Jesus must be some sort of "Libertarian" character, who would step over people dying of disease in the street, and finagle money out of the weakwilled and simpleminded--then laugh about it.

Some "God." If there IS a Heaven, I hope Jerry and his followers don't expect to gain entrance...its a huge den of socialism, and the people living there do not want his kind stirring up trouble in Paradise.

Being both as referenced, I'd give up the being a Christian if the statement was true, without giving it a second thought.

It's like in the last Presidential election, where many well respected people like General Powell made reference to 'he didn't leave the republican party, the party left him'.

On the gay reference - I'm Loud, I'm Proud!!

Prevo can sucks eggs and choke on them!! Here's hoping sooner than later!!!!!

  9. He is such a phony, baloney and he has a lot of followers on the far right who are wealthy people here in Anchorage. I say they are all a bunch of phony balonies! The Anchorage elitists who believe in the bullshit that Prevo is selling. He has his own brand of snake oil that he sells to the wealthy Anchorage public. Its like the good book says, "evil spirits in high places" and in the end times they are "wolves in sheep's clothing!" Yuk!

May we put him in the same hotel room with Ted Haggard? George Alan Rekers? And the Pope?

Double doubles? Or a single king-sized bed?

That's what I've done. Raised Catholic. Not my kids. Two wonderful daughters one a nurse the other a CNA and taking care of the sick and elderly! Didn't need religion to learn compassion.

Teaching my son to say, "one nation, indivisible...

Just remember, Anchorage-ites, Dan Sullivan pandered to this horrible excuse for a man when he vetoed the ordinance that would have given equal rights to gays. Mayoral election in April ... go to the polls (no excuses) and vote for Paul Honeman for Mayor of Anchorage. Remind friends and family.

    Thou shalt not judge!

I'll never understand the christian right.

Hypocrites every last one of them.

    Jesus was obviously a liberal.

    I am a Christian and I am a sinner.

Would this man say I cannot sin and still be a Christian? Christians would say that only Jesus qualifies for that position.

It's a completely different question as to whether homosexuality is a sin, but regardless of the answer, it need not disqualify anyone from being a Christian.
